The cake was cheap supermarket produce on a broken plate. And that for almost 10 euros. Outrageous. And the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired.

Unfortunately, the staff was completely overwhelmed; the tables were piled with used dishes. We were offered a seat on the terrace, but only a drink would be possible; the waitress couldn't manage the food. The Flensburg malt beer was delicious and well-chilled. That makes a former restaurateur's heart ache. Such a fantastic location, this unique view, and the announcement of the ships with the national anthem are simply fantastic, which makes the state of the restaurant industry all the more sad.

We were there for breakfast with two adults and two small children. We ordered a set menu, as two rolls and two slices of bread were perfectly sufficient for us. When ordering, we simply swapped the sparkling wine for orange juice and didn't mention anything special – including that we were sharing the meal. When asked if there was a cover charge, we explicitly declined. We received a somewhat confused look, but were simply told "OK." It was all the more surprising that the cover charge was still charged in the end. When we asked about it, we simply received the answer: "I specifically asked at the beginning: cover charge or something sweet?" – only neither was ordered nor served. It's a shame that this put a rather bland aftertaste on what should have been a pleasant breakfast experience.

We really enjoyed it here! A truly large restaurant with the option of sitting inside or outside on a huge terrace right on the canal. The Kiel Canal's ship welcoming station is also located here. The service was very friendly, and we admired how they always "dragged" us, often with heavy loads, the long way, sometimes up steps, to the long terrace from the distant kitchen and bar. Thank you very much for that. The menu and the cake buffalo are very extensive and varied.

A beautiful place to unwind. Especially when the weather is nice. Sitting outside and watching the ships sail by. On weekends, there's an announcement from a retired captain who explains the ships and concludes with the country's national anthem being played by the ship flying its flag. A truly wonderful experience. We've visited this location several times on our trips to Denmark, and also enjoyed it on our journey home. The spring weather and the hot meals are highly recommended.

Here you'll find good food (and drinks), friendly staff, and a great view of the canal. Occasionally, the welcoming uncle tells you something about passing ships, and the local national song is played. It's all very nice.

We ate here on a Sunday around 6 p.m. The staff was very friendly, but the panoramic view was lacking—I call it the missing gastronomic gene. The view of the guests who might have had another drink if you'd occasionally glanced over the tables. But what am I saying? My gastronomic gene is coming through again. The food was great, the value for money was good, and we returned to our motorhome full and satisfied. Unfortunately, no boat passed by while we were there, which would have been worth greeting. In nice weather, sitting on the large terrace would definitely be an experience. We'll be back.

The bridge terraces are located on the railway bridge directly over the Kiel Canal. On the one hand, this is attractive, as there's always something to see here, but on the other hand, the railway traffic on the bridge is very loud. This is something to be tolerated. The self-installed "ship greeting" with announcements of the ship's name, nationality, technical data, origin, and destination, along with the playing of the corresponding national anthem, may be appealing to some, but we found it rather distracting, as we had to interrupt our conversation repeatedly. The food was okay, as was the service.

I was on my way to the bridge terraces with my parents. Table was reserved. The food was good and the service at the table was excellent. It wasn't a weekend and therefore not quite as busy, which was excellent. After ordering, the food came quickly and for everyone. The quality of the food was very good. Overall we were very satisfied and will come back soon. It would be desirable to make the entrance from the side possible for people with walking difficulties. At the moment only the exit there is possible.

We waited 50 minutes for the food, the waiter told us it was normal but most tables around us were served much faster. Greek salad is not a recommendation…

It's a great place to enjoy a beer while looking down at the elevated railway crossing the Kiel Canal. The restaurant is average, but transportation to get there is inconvenient.

Fair sized restaurant, on 2 levels, with some outdoor seating. Excellent views of the Hochebrücke, and the Schwebefähre as it commutes back & forth across the canal. The food is quite good, with standard dishes on the menu - a variety of Fish dishes, Schnitzels, steak etc, as expected. Coffee & cake seems a popular draw for the elderly clientele. I had no complaints, and it's a useful stop for a coffee and a sit down, at the least. The carpark is free for customers, but seems to fill up quickly, even on quiet days

The best part is the opportunity to watch the ships! The kids especially loved that. There's also a kindergarten. The food was okay, but nothing more.

Sunday morning breakfast buffet for almost €24 per person. The place was busy, and there was only ONE server on site. Other than that, she handled it well. The food available was okay (unfortunately, the eggs were kept warm too long), and everyone received a glass of sparkling wine. Pots of filter coffee were on the tables, and cappuccino, hot chocolate, etc. were also offered. We accepted this. When we asked if there was water, the answer was, "Yes, you'll have to pay extra for that, my boss has to earn money too." Excuse me? I paid a hefty price for breakfast. There were also no croissants or other pastries, no baked beans, no salads (e.g., egg salad), no pancakes, and the selection of cold cuts was rather meager for the price. There was, however, sufficient salmon. And to top it all off: when paying, it turned out that only the filter coffee was included, and the offered cappuccino had to be paid for. But they generously gave us a discount on the house because of the mess. Honestly, I've had much better breakfast buffets with more choices and at a cheaper price. Not really recommended!

At the end of June, we visited the Brückenrestaurant in Rendsburg with our "Six Seasons" group. The view of the Kiel Canal is beautiful, the food is excellent – but unfortunately, our visit was overshadowed by an unpleasant incident. A young man, apparently a new temporary worker, tripped while serving and spilled an entire tray of drinks – including beer – all over my husband's chest and pants. My dress was also hit. Unfortunately, my husband ended up sitting there completely soaked and sticky (:>(( The young assistant apologized sincerely – but the treatment of the other, older waitresses was disappointing. No fresh towel, no word of apology, no real help – on the contrary: they seemed rather annoyed and sometimes even reacted unfriendly and flippantly. Since the restaurant was fully booked, we understood that they couldn't respond immediately – but we should have expected a minimum of more attention. When paying, we politely asked if they could accommodate us in the situation. The response was snippy: "No, we wouldn't." We were simply told that we could submit the cleaning costs if necessary. We did so immediately – the clothes did indeed need to be professionally cleaned. But here too: no response, no apology, no sign of interest. Only after about three weeks and two emails were the costs transferred. Unfortunately, without a single word. What a shame – what should have been a lovely evening turned into a An unpleasant experience. Not because of the mishap itself, but because of the unprofessional and indifferent handling of it. This is not how you should treat guests in the restaurant industry – even if you only consider them "day tourists." WHAT A SHAME!

Six of us went there about three weeks ago on a Saturday evening for dinner, which I consider quite delicious. But the service staff should really work on how they handled a member of our group, for example, who was injured by the staff with a drinks tray. If someone has to spend the entire evening with wet clothes through no fault of their own and also cuts themselves on broken glass, the guest should be offered a reasonable compensation. A meal as a courtesy wasn't possible, and the promised reimbursement of the cleaning costs had to be requested twice. Sorry, folks, what kind of service desert had we gotten ourselves into?

A place with a special charm. Firstly, it's located directly on the Kiel Canal, beneath the famous railway bridge that spans it. It also has the oldest transporter bridge, which has been operating on the gigantic bridge for decades. There's also a colorful mix of large and small ships. The restaurant is located in the middle of this historic place. The service is super friendly and the food is delicious. We felt at home.

We had lunch there and all of us (8 people) were more than thrilled with the food! Everything was excellent (sauerfleisch, fries, fried potatoes – a dream, the fish and schnitzel – also a dream). Everything took a little longer due to staff absences, but everything was fine. The service was also excellent. The homemade cake is highly recommended. We'd love to come back!

Beautifully located right on the canal, with a boat-welcoming station. You can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and coffee in a relaxed atmosphere, watching the big ships and small boats sail by. Good food in a somewhat old-fashioned atmosphere with very friendly service. Very suitable for an older crowd and the prices are almost reasonable. The view directly along the canal is, of course, very interesting, and you also get information about passing ships, which can be distracting if you're trying to have a conversation.

So, to be honest? I'm rating the restaurant based on its food, drinks, service, cleanliness, etc., not the view of passing ships ☝️ We were invited to dinner with several people and, despite having reserved a table, there was limited space, so that's where it all started. A look around made me shudder. I can't remember ever having sat in such a dirty and unkempt space. Completely filthy light strips covered in fly droppings hung from the ceiling. The accompanying flies buzzed around the room or lingered in the corners. The windows, both inside and out, hadn't been cleaned for months, and the glass partition to the dining area bears traces of dried-on "who knows." In any case, she hasn't seen a damp cloth for a long time. The waitress was flippant and thought she could address all guests as "du" (informal). We were in the over-60s age group and by no means stuffy, but a server should know that's inappropriate in a restaurant. Things might be different in a pub 😉 The food I ordered arrived promptly. But that was it. I chose a fish platter with fried potatoes and two different dips. The fish was partly dry, and all the varieties tasted the same. They were obviously fried in tons of butter, which overpowered the actual flavor. The sauces were served in cardboard bowls 🤔 what on earth is that all about? Cardboard bowls? Really? The tartar sauce was delicious, but the honey and mustard sauce was completely oversalted. If the portion of fried potatoes had been larger, I could have eaten my fill. They were really well-cooked and delicious. I don't want to judge the other guests' food, but their enthusiasm was limited here as well. The price-performance ratio is definitely not right here! Conclusion: I didn't like eating there either under the previous or current owner because cleanliness was always an issue (I don't even want to know what the kitchen looks like). When you're invited there, you don't always have a choice, which - if it happens again - I will actually think twice about it.

A good and popular spot on the Kiel Canal. It's located between the large bridge over the canal and the pedestrian tunnel under the canal. The transporter bridge is currently undergoing maintenance.

The brunch was very extensive, home-style, with a wide selection of hot and cold dishes! The food was delicious, and the service staff was very friendly! The restaurant is located directly on the Kiel Canal, next to the transporter bridge. Good to know: Passing ships are introduced via loudspeaker announcements and greeted with their respective national anthems. We knew this beforehand and didn't feel disturbed.

Well, what can I say? There's simply nothing to complain about. My husband and I were staying at the RV spot right by the canal and wanted to have a nice meal. That's exactly what we did here. The waitresses and waiters seemed to enjoy their work. That alone is worth a good review. When the food is tasty, the value for money is good, and you can watch the big ships while you go, nothing is left to be desired. We'd love to come back....

Unfortunately, it's declined considerably. The last time we were there about three years ago, it was more cozy and, above all, affordable. We paid just under €28 for two slices of cake, an ice cream dessert, and a Coke. Three years ago, we had a lot more and paid less. A small slice of cake costs €7.10!

We always love sitting there by the water, watching the ships and listening to the accompanying information. The food was delicious 😋, the staff was friendly - the atmosphere was just right.

We (two people) were there on a Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. We arrived in the entrance area and waited briefly to be assigned a table. A waitress told us that we could sit freely on the terrace. We chose a table by the water. We placed the previous person's empty glasses at the edge of the table. After waiting for 20 minutes and trying to catch a glimpse of the waitress, I went in and said that we would like to order from table Xy on the terrace. The only response I received as I walked by was: "A colleague will be here soon." The table behind us, with five people, had also been waiting the whole time. A gentleman at the table had also already called. A woman came 10 minutes later and asked if she could clear the table. We told her we would like to order. The reply was: "Oh, yeah, you can't see that from an uncleared table. A colleague will be here soon." We then left the restaurant very disappointed, thirsty, and hungry in 30°C heat. What a shame.

The food was okay. However, I'd say the sauces here are more of a convenience dish. The food was quick and the service very friendly. The ambiance, right on the canal, is very nice. We'll be back when the transporter bridge is running again.

I always enjoy the breakfast or brunch buffet here. The selection is good and not overwhelming. The brunch includes plenty of coffee and juices, and there's also a good selection of rolls and breads. The service is super friendly and helpful, and the Northern German atmosphere fits perfectly.
