I'm so happy that friends recommended this snack bar to me – beautiful interior, very well-maintained – more like a nice bistro – delicious fries (excellent kitchen ventilation – you can't smell anything!), excellent curry sauce, delicious homemade curry meatballs, and a delicious side salad (which is completely underpriced at €4.50). They also have changing daily specials, which are very appealing – I'll save them for my next visit. Highly recommended! … and thank you!

An absolute top spot for classic fries, currywurst, and other cravings. All top-quality and in a cozy atmosphere. And the best part is, they also offer various vegetarian dishes, including a delicious vegan currywurst. Add some delicious wines and the day is made. Not to mention the typical, friendly Schiffers charm of the two owners. Highly recommended!

One of the best schnitzels in the Ruhr region. A visit is worthwhile. There's usually plenty of parking on the street. Service is friendly. The price/performance ratio is good.

Shish kebab and fries. The fries were good. The shish kebab consisted of five dry, lukewarm pieces in a thin sauce with two bits of pickled gherkin or something. It was also bland. Okay.

Highly recommended! We were absolutely thrilled. The team was super friendly and attentive. You immediately feel welcome. The Jägerschnitzel and the Frikadelle were really fresh and perfectly flavored. The service was also quick and smooth. If you appreciate good food and honest service, this is the place for you. Super friendly team. From schnitzel to the changing daily specials, it's a great place for delicious "unhealthy" food. Whether it's for a quick snack or a quick bite after work. In the summer, there's a very nice outdoor seating area in the courtyard. I always enjoy coming here!

I noticed it on a bike ride. It's right next to the main road, but you don't feel disturbed. There are outdoor seating areas behind the building. I only saw a small menu, but the classic currywurst with fries was really good. The Dutch fries were crispy, and the butcher's sausage had a very good flavor. I would describe it as an upscale snack bar, which is also reflected in the prices. For me, the portion was sufficient and worth the money. The service was also very friendly. I'd happily go back next time I pass by.

Not mass-produced, not a compromise for convenience. The homemade sauces aren't just an accessory, but culinary statements – each variation impresses with its quality and depth of flavor. There are also regional specials, changing varieties, often with a wink, but always to the point. What makes this shop special is the attitude behind it: They don't just want to fill you up – they want to impress. And they succeed. Time and again. Food can consider itself lucky to have such an address. Once you've experienced SCHIFFERS, you'll judge all other fries by it.

Today we ordered four Wiener Schnitzel with Dutch fries to go. Unfortunately, that wasn't great... we were still burping six hours later, probably from the frying oil not being changed in a while. All for a hefty €56. It's a shame, it used to be much better under the previous owner of the "Frittenschmiede"! He sadly passed away.

We had a very nice and delicious evening at Schiffers. From the outside the restaurant is rather inconspicuous; you walk past it without noticing it. What's even more surprising is how beautiful it is on the inside! There's even a nice terrace at the back. Service, food, drinks - everything was great. We'll definitely come back 😇

Finally tried it; I've always wanted to, even the previous owner. The food is very good, and the reception and service are very friendly. I definitely recommend it, even if the prices are on the higher side, the quality is worth it. The clientele is a bit annoying, typical nouveau riche clientele from the south of Essen. But that's not the restaurant's fault.

No longer recommended after the concept was adjusted and they moved.

Completely overpriced, that has nothing to do with the “good times” at Jürgen's anymore. The crowd is different, no more wonderful evenings, fries are better and cheaper elsewhere.

Since we were spoiled by the food at the Schiffers restaurant, we were a little disappointed. We liked the fries better from the previous one. The vegetarian sausage wasn't a highlight, the fries were unfortunately lukewarm and not crispy, and the potato salad didn't seem to be homemade. We paid 28 euros for 1x fries special, 1x coleslaw, a potato salad, a vegetarian currywurst and chicken sticks. Without drinks. Unfortunately, the unofficial opening hours of 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. don't work well for us. We will be having lunch somewhere else soon.

Unfortunately we can't hold a candle to Jürgen. Service was unfriendly when asked. No reservation possible. Impossible opening times.

Sorry, but there's still a lot of room for improvement - the employee seems totally stressed and responds extremely irritably to the question of whether a table will be available soon with the announcement "you can see for yourself" ... so another attempt days later, got a seat, but in conclusion "normal chip shop, nothing special" - not nearly as passionate as the previous one! Please practice - it won't work with just media and flyers - you can't eat them, sorry! We keep our fingers crossed...

I enjoyed being in the “old” Schiffers, now for the first time in the new location. Unexcitingly nicely decorated, orders are placed at the counter and then served at the table. The menu was clear, but I found the combo strange. On the one hand, classics (currywurst, burgers, schnitzel - unfortunately already sold out by lunchtime), and on the other hand, Dutch-Asian dishes. Salad and panko chicken breast were very tasty, but I wouldn't stop by for the currywurst. Unimaginative sauce, unconvincing sausage. You can do better! I think it's a shame that Viennese-style schnitzels are offered... Prices are moderate in my opinion.

ATTENTION regarding opening hours! There's currently a photo on Instagram of the store's alleged opening hours. It states that it's open Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. These hours were also found in various press articles. Based on this, we arrived at the location around 7 p.m. today. However, when we got there, we discovered that, contrary to the posted opening hours, the store isn't open until 9 p.m., but only until 5 p.m. (sic!). So, we drove all that way for nothing. I'm curious to see if this place can survive with these opening hours in the long run. As long as the current opening hours are in place, we won't be coming back. 9 p.m. would be much better.

📌 New “French Fries Shop” needs to be tested. The store looks good, similar to its predecessor. We'll take a look again. 🤷‍♂️🍟 So far everything is solid with room for improvement. Customer numbers continue to rise unabated. We wish you a good start with lots of creative ideas!

The taste of the food was ok. Service and waiting time were good. The price of 8.50 euros for a portion of currywurst with fries that is too small is already a lot. Mayonnaise 1 euro surcharge. The 2nd dish was a shrunken Wiener Schnitzel for 14.50 euros. Just an upscale snack bar.

The food is ok to good, but nothing exceptional. We had to wait a very long time for the food. Unfortunately, it is extremely loud in the restaurant, so you have to concentrate a lot to understand all the words spoken by the person accompanying you. In my opinion, price-performance doesn't fit.

Very nice ambience and great, friendly and friendly service, there's no other way to say it. How people get such good reviews when it comes to food is beyond my understanding. The salad was great, the schnitzel with fries just had the character of a chip shop. Dry and not recommended. Too bad. maybe we're still working on it. Please write on the front door that animals are particularly welcome here. For my part, I don't like dining in a zoological garden.

Small but nice. That's my conclusion on the first visit. Friendly service and warm atmosphere. A smaller menu, but well laid out and changing at times. The food is of good quality considering the prices. Portions are certainly not for those who are very hungry, but they are sufficient.

Most of the time you will find negative reviews. Because people are disappointed. Here you can search, search and search again. The shop is simply honest, high quality and if there is criticism (absolutely exceptionally) - open and just as honest. There is an open door here for every taste, for every color of person and taste. In this respect - an unreserved recommendation for food, drinks and hosts.

Das Schiffers ist mit Abstand unser Lieblingsrestaurant in Essen. Hier stimmt einfach alles. Super leckere Küche mit frischen regionalen Gerichten, dazu ganz liebevolle Menschen, die einen als perfekter Gastgeber verwöhnen.

Extremely delicious food (we had four different dishes), the open white and red wines were very good, charming and attentive service, the price/performance ratio was good. And finally a restaurant without an idiot apostrophe. 😀 We would love to come back! 👍

Wir kommen öfter, auch mit Freunden. Hier ist ALLES toll, das Essen schmeckt immer, die Karte wechselt wöchentlich, die Preise sind völlig in Ordnung , besonders vir dem Hintergrund der phantastischen Qualität des Essens. Service/Kommunikation mit dem Chef ist immer super, auch wenn es richtig voll und stressig ist. Die Einrichtung ist superschön, Innenhof nett und die bunte Mischung der Gäste gefällt uns sehr. So schön, dass es das Schiffers gibt!

We had a New Year's reception from the company. The staff was just nice. Seemed a little overwhelmed and disorganized. The food was good but not exceptional. The location is cozy, but the acoustics are very loud. You have to concentrate very much on your conversation partner.

Wir waren zum ersten Mal da und kommen bestimmt wieder. Da stimmt alles: Das Ambiente, die freundliche und aufmerksame Bedienung und der Preis. Rinderfilet und Zander waren auf den Punkt gebraten, die Beilagen ebenso lecker wie Vorspeise und Dessert. Den Betreibern wünschen wir ganz viel Erfolg.

We were there for the first time and will definitely come back. Everything is right: the ambience, the friendly and attentive service and the price. Beef fillet and pike perch were fried to perfection, the side dishes were just as delicious as the starter and dessert. We wish the operators much success.

At very reasonable prices you can get beautifully prepared and eye-catchingly served food. You immerse yourself in a little temple of pleasure and just enjoy. The surroundings of the restaurant are simply wonderful and the ambience is perfect.

Service is good. Food freshly and deliciously prepared. Our table was near the kitchen. The smell from the kitchen wafted straight to our table, which meant my clothes smelled strongly of the kitchen afterwards.

Wir waren heute zum ersten Mal im SCHIFFERS essen und sind total begeistert👍 Das Gebäude ist schon sehr ansprechend und das dazu passende Ambiente zeigt, dass man sich Gedanken gemacht hat, dass alles gut zusammen passt. Wir würden sehr freundlich empfangen und durften uns einen Tisch aussuchen. Mittags gibt es keine Tischreservierungen aber wir waren um kurz nach 12 Uhr da, und es waren noch einige Plätze frei. Nach und nach waren viele andere Tische schnell besetzt. Alle Gerichte auf der Mittagskarte hörten sich super lecker an und meine Wahl fiel auf die Kürbissuppe und zum Hauptgang gab es Dorade mit Safranrisotto, Kaiserschoten und Schnittlauchsoße. Die Kürbissuppe (serviert mit ein paar Scheiben leckerem Brot) war ein Gedicht! Leicht aufgeschäumt, fein im Geschmack und mit einem Kürbiskernöl veredelt. Lecker!!! Die Dorade war knusprig auf der Haut - und auf den Punkt - gebraten. Das Safranrisotto - einfach perfekt👌. Der Reis hatte für meinen Geschmack genau die richtige Konsistenz. Schön schlotzig (oder wie man auch sagt: schlontzig). Zusammen mit den Schoten und der Soße ein rundum gelungener Teller. Ein großes Kompliment an die Küche🥇🏆 Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist auch TippTopp und ich bin von dem tollen, sympathischen und professionellen Service immer noch begeistert. Hier können viele Gastronomen (oder die, die sich so nennen) noch etwas lernen. Bei uns gab es mittags noch ein Getränke-Highlight🥛🍹😀 Schaut doch mal im SCHIFFERS vorbei. Heute zum Dinnieren im Schiffers gewesen und es hat sich absolut gelohnt! Das Essen war frisch und die Kombinationen sehr interessant! Wir saßen draußen und haben den Geburtstag gefeiert meiner Freundin. Zum Nachtisch gab es sogar ein kleines Feuerwerk. Das Personal ist liebevoll und man fühlt sich rundum wohl. Vielen Dank an das Team! Gerne wieder!

Wunderbar gemütliches Ambiente, sehr freundliches, aufmerksames Personal. Eine kleine, exquisite Karte. Spannende Getränkeauswahl. Wir hatten das Wiener Schnitzel und den Thunfisch auf schwarzer Pasta. Leider war die Panade des Schnitzels platt und nicht knusprig. Der Thunfisch schmeckte angebrannt und hatte zähe, sehnige Anteile. Die Lemongrass-Soße zeigte sich reizlos. Alles nicht schlimm, aber für knapp 30 Euro pro Gericht, eher enttäuschend. Die Servicekraft nahm unser Feedback aufmerksam entgegen. Ich wünsche den Besitzer:innen weiterhin viel Erfolg und hoffe, dass das Kochpersonal in Zukunft gewissenhafter arbeitet. Für uns bleibt es bei diesem Mal.

+Aangenaam bezoek in een mooi interieur. Vriendelijk personeel! Perfecte portie ook voor kinderen. Hoofdgerechten wel aan de duurdere kant maar zeker zijn waarde. -Wachttijd tussen het aperitief en hoofdgerecht net iets te lang. Het was er erg warm binnen. Open raam bracht niet veel soulaas.

Waren heute zu Besuch in Werden, wollten nach der Dombesichtigung noch was essen. Haben nach einem kleinen Stadtrundgang das „Schiffers“ gefunden und wurden vom Ambiente, der sehr freundlichen Bedienung und dem sehr schmackhaften Essen angenehm überrascht. Kommen gerne wieder 👍

Es gibt eine angemessene Auswahl an Mittagessen. Die Gerichte sehen einfach aus, aber der Geschmack ist erstaunlich. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und gastfreundlich. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Sehr nette Atmosphäre: freundlich, locker, aber dennoch was besonderes. Service ziemlich perfekt. Essen war sehr gut, aber nicht besonderes außergewöhnlich/ überraschend. Sehr gute Getränke (Aperitif, Wein). Das Menü finde ich recht günstig bepreist, wenn man das alles und die gute Qualität bedenkt. Alles in allem: zu empfehlen.

Ganz tolle Location in Werden. Sehr umsichtige und freundliche Mitarbeiter. Die Küche ist ausgefallen und wirklich gut und vorallem lecker. Sehr nettes Restaurant, für uns gab es das Menü, wir bekamen kreative aber nicht zu verspielte Küchenkunst geboten. Weinauswahl war dem Menü angemessen, Service aufmerksam aber nicht penetrant. Damit klare Empfehlung und für eine baldige Wiederholungstat vorgemerkt.

Super schönes Ambiente an traditionsreichen Ort.Das Essen bewegt sich irgendwo zwischen Sterneküche und Hausmannskost. Handwerklich überragend zubereitet und top angerichtet. Zuvorkommende, mitunter herzliche, Bedienung.😀 Der Außenbereich lädt zum verweilen ein. Absolute Empfehlung wenn sie einen schönen Abend (oder Mittag 😉) verbringen möchten.

Wie üblich war das Restaurant ausgebucht, aber Dank der großzügigen Anordnung der Tische fühlt es sich nicht so voll an. Es gibt unterschiedliche Menus, die man aus 3 Vorspeisen, 5 Hauptgerichten und 3 Desserts zusammenstellen kann. Dazu ein paar Kleinigkeiten, also besser mit leerem Magen erscheinen… Nicht nur der Geschmackssinn, sondern auch die Augen kamen voll auf ihre Kosten. Man spürt, dass die Wirte mit Leib und Seele Gastgeber sind und ihre Befriedigung aus dem Glück der Gäste schöpfen.

Innerhalb kurzer Zeit zum 2. Mal hier gewesen und wieder total positiv überzeugt worden, Service, Qualtät und Ambiente sehr gut, wirklich empfehlenswert- werde bald wiederkommen!!
