Genki Ramen in Essen

It's always delicious at Genki! I've finally been to Genki Ramen, and it's just as delicious as the other restaurants. The ramen and gyoza were delicious again. You can tell that everything is fresh and cooked with love. The Genki restaurants are always worth a visit!

I have to admit: my first ramen experience (many years ago in Düsseldorf and not at Genki) didn't impress me at all. At the time, I thought it just wasn't my thing. Recently, a friend took me to Genki Ramen, and what can I say? I've been an absolute ramen fan ever since! We had the seaweed salad (very tasty!), gyoza, and of course, ramen. Everything was great. I especially like that they also offer vegetarian options. The service was friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. Bottom line: a place I'll gladly return to again and again.

On a visit to my old hometown and after an hours-long drive, the food at Genki Ramen was delicious, and that's not the only reason ;) We had a bowl with rice and tofu, breaded chicken, gyoza, and a spicy pork ramen. We were full, it was deliciously presented, and it tasted good too – it wasn't our first ramen experience, and they're definitely among the better ones. The highlight was the Sakura Cola, which is pink instead of brown (we immediately reordered it at home). The service is great, and card payments work. Getting a seat can be a bit of a hit and miss, but the wait is definitely worth it.

I just spontaneously went to eat alone. Finally, some really tasty ramen. The appetizers were also excellent. Friendly service...I'll definitely be back!

I highly recommend Genki Ramen. The food was perfectly prepared and piping hot when served. It tasted great, and everything was prepared correctly according to the menu. The price-performance ratio for the portions is justified, and you won't be disappointed. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful if you don't know something on the menu or have questions. Everything was explained clearly, and even I, a "simpleton" when it comes to Asian food, was able to get a lot out of the explanations and find the right dish. The ambiance takes some getting used to. Everything feels a bit cramped, but the decor still harmonizes with the concept and invites you to dine. Part of the kitchen is visible, which also allows customers to see for themselves the hygiene and preparation of the food in the shop.

The food is excellent, and so is the ambiance. While there's limited seating, it's still worth a look.

The Kaarage Don was absolutely amazing and so tasty! The Ramen and gyoza were also very tasty. The people are so friendly and kind. Highly recommend.

If you're craving ramen, Genki is a definite must-visit. The soup is always delicious. The opening hours are/were a bit unusual; the shop isn't open 24/7, so it's best to check beforehand.

Great food, nice place, friendly staff.

A few years ago, I ate ramen for the first time at Genki Ramen, and since then, I haven't had ramen anywhere else that tasted better than there. The restaurant's space is small. There are a few tables and a window seat with stools. The decor is reminiscent of a classic ramen restaurant, like the ones you see in Japanese movies. So far, I've always found the service to be quick and friendly. You can order either traditionally with the physical menu or via a QR code. On my last visit, I was a bit bothered by the fact that the laminated physical menu was a bit dirty. The tables are otherwise well-stocked. Salt, pepper, soy sauce, chili flakes, and chili powder are available at every table, as well as European cutlery and Asian chopsticks. My favorite ramen is Tan Tan Men because I like it spicier. The broth is well-seasoned, the noodles are al dente, the portions are generous, and the price is fair. For anyone who loves ramen, I recommend Genki Ramen over any other ramen restaurant in Essen. You won't be disappointed.

The ramen was very good, and the service was typical, rather reserved ;-) but friendly. The atmosphere was also typical, not particularly cozy, more like a soup kitchen/bistro. It was perfectly fine for me, as the food was very good. I'll definitely be back.

Today I was craving soup and we happened to pass by this little eatery. It is small and luckily there was still room at the window. We ordered Japanese soup and rice with teriyaki chicken. Staff were friendly and there was a pleasant atmosphere even though it was completely full. The food came quickly. After the first bites we concluded that it was decent but could not match all our previous visits to similar eateries. The food was greasy than you are used to and not as tasty. The soup did not have the expected overwhelming taste, a bit lifeless. I had asked for spicy but there was little sign of that. The rice dish was also decent. Too much sauce and tasted greasy. The presentation of the dishes was good. All in all we give the food a 6 and won't be back. Try better food next time.

Lauwarm, wenig kundenorient. Ich hatte Ramen bestellt. Die Brühe war schmackhaft, leider nur lauwarm, Fleisch und Gemüse kamen wohl direkt aus der Kühlung. Beim Bezahlen äußerte ich auf Nachfrage meine Kritik, die mit einem wohlwollenden "Alles klar!" honoriert wurde. Keine Weiterempfehlung. Diese Rezension wurde bei Google gesperrt. Ähnliche Erfahrungen mit unzureichendem Produkt und Umgang mit Kritik wurden auch von anderen Rezensenten geschildert. So kann man man sich Bewertungsdurchschnitt auch verbessern...

Went there for the first time today with Menne. We are thrilled and happy that it is not far away, so we will definitely stop there more often. The ramen was really well made, very very tasty! The takoyaki were not greasy and simply a taste experience. A clear recommendation for everyone who appreciates authentic ramen!!!

I was there for the first time with my husband. The restaurant was a bit small but we still managed to get a table. The service was nice and the food came quickly. The food was plentiful and tasty. You definitely got full. The restaurant should definitely pay more attention to cleanliness in the toilets. Unfortunately there was black mold on the ceiling in the women's toilet. Which isn't exactly good for your health. I have no idea whether we will come back again.

We had 2 Tonkotsu Ramen today. 1. Garlic 2. Hot This really wasn't a revelation. The noodles are soft spaghetti. The basic soup... well... irrelevant. Some interesting inserts that also tasted like something. But there really wasn't anything spicy at all. No repeat planned.

Drinks were good. Unfortunately not the food. We left half of it because it just didn't taste good. Every time the door is opened you get an ice-cold draft. 🥶 There are better restaurants with this direction. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Ordered Genki Ramen and Mapo Men Ramen. My Mapo Ramen was supposed to be spicy, but the soup wasn't spicy at all, but it still tasted good. Had to season the soup with plenty of chili powder

Absolutely not recommended for vegans! I first got the wrong dish with meat and meat broth. My first time eating meat in 8 years and there was no insight or apology at all from the restaurant. The “real” dish came then and was obviously made too quickly. The fried vegetables never saw a pan and so I had a miso with raw cold vegetables and that was not addressed either and I was allowed to pay the full price. Absolutely inappropriate behavior

Be careful with vegetarian dishes! We got meat broth. It only became apparent when I ate the fried meat. The replacement dish came with fresh salad instead of fried vegetables (the description on the menu doesn't match) and also without the extra egg that was ordered. The meat had already lost our appetite so much that we didn't eat the portion. We still paid for everything, including the missing egg. Mistakes happen, but we didn't receive an apology or goodwill when paying. And a meat broth instead of a vegetarian one is a hard no go...

Nice there! Easy setup. But there is very tasty food with good Preusen. Friendly service and a short wait for food.

Solid frame, Gysoa not really my thing. Had reserved a table for 5 but only got one for 4. We were able to help ourselves later. Overall chaotic and small, which can sometimes be charming. Not quite here.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Genki Ramen Restaurant and it was an amazing experience! The broth was simply outstanding – rich and full of flavor, making every slurp a pleasure. The tender meat complemented the soup perfectly and provided a wonderful texture. I was particularly impressed by the service. The staff was extremely trained, attentive and always willing to make recommendations without being pushy. You really feel welcome and well looked after. The ambience of the restaurant is cozy and simple, creating a relaxed atmosphere in which you immediately feel at home. The opening times are also very practical, so you can enjoy the delicious food later in the evening. All in all, I highly recommend Genki Ramen – a true gem for all noodle soup lovers!

Ok, the space is very small and cramped and can certainly be expanded in all respects, but that's not the reason why you go there. The food is amazing and affordable. Drinks, like in all Asian restaurants and shops, are overpriced. Waiting in front of the location is common there and now, when it gets colder, even the first in line are warmed by heat lamps.

The veggie tofu ramen here, especially with the Shio broth, is great. Reminds me of my university time in Japan.

Long waiting times outside the door. There is hardly any space inside, there is always the risk of throwing each other's food off the table when you put on and take off your jacket. It's easier to sit at the window pane, the people who are placed close behind and lower at tables have the back of their faces... You have to wait a bit for service because it's so busy. They are reasonably friendly and the food comes quite quickly considering the circumstances. However, I'm not really impressed with the food. The soups usually taste like nothing. The rice dish with meat and bean sprouts, on the other hand, was soaked in sauce... Unfortunately it wasn't that tasty. We have been there several times and always had the same experiences. Unfortunately we won't be coming back again.

Lukewarm, not very customer-oriented. I ordered ramen. The broth was tasty, unfortunately only lukewarm, the meat and vegetables probably came straight from the fridge. When I was paying, I expressed my criticism when asked, which was met with a benevolent “It’s okay!” was honored. No recommendation.

We are very convinced of the ramen and, depending on the day, find it better than, for example, at Takumi in Essen 👍🏻 The prices are reasonable. We usually take the food with us as it is quite crowded there in the evenings and not really comfortable.

Small, cozy shop with a classic Japanese flair: order, eat and don't chat for long. That's what makes the restaurant special and even when it's full, you don't have to wait long. However, it doesn't create a nice atmosphere like you're probably used to in other restaurants. In my opinion, the miso broth here was even better than at the Takumi chain. The service is super friendly and quick. When visiting the gaming fair, the store is my favorite.

I love Japanese cuisine and, in my opinion, delicious ramen is a fine art and not easy to find in good quality. I had the Tonkotsu Ramen and it was top notch. I'm not talking about the side dishes, which are very similar in every ramen and don't significantly influence the taste, but about the broth, which is the soul of every ramen: so rich and harmonious - one of the best broths I've eaten so far . Big compliments to the kitchen! In order to enjoy such culinary delights, you often have to compromise on the ambience 😉

I think the ramen is super tasty! But the tofu is just as tasteless as any other tofu. But the vegetarian gyozas are surprisingly delicious. Unfortunately the store is very small and crowded. You can't make a reservation either, so sometimes you have to stand outside a little longer.

Delicious food with a dining room atmosphere (there is no other way, as there are few seats and they are close together). Staff very nice and friendly. We were in the restaurant and unfortunately a bowl broke and we not only got new ramen but were also given chips. But also very nice service, very good food, perfectly cooked eggs, all in one highly recommended!

Each restaurant has its own strengths, specialties and focuses. What you immediately notice is that the team values ​​authentic Japanese food. And even if you think that I have eaten something stronger or more delicious at XYZ in Düsseldorf, you have to honestly admit that there is good, down-to-earth food here. The prices are not quite at the Düsseldorf level yet, but they are well on the way there. It is probably also due to the proximity to Rüttenscheider Strasse. I tried Teriyaki miso ramen and it was very good in taste and perfect portion size. Very kind service as well. I hope to try more of what they can offer.

Our absolute favorite restaurant for ramen. The food is super authentic and the service is very nice. We love the original Japanese lemonades with the ball in them.

I found the team on site to be very nice, the furnishings and shop were just like other ramen shops, and the prices were completely reasonable. I just found that the gyozas and ramen were very tasty, but a bit too heavy compared to my favorite shops. But that's purely a matter of taste. You can definitely go.

Super delicious food, especially the Ebi Fry and Tonkotsu Ramen are highly recommended. Noodles could be a little firmer, but that's complaining at the highest level. We were also very impressed by the unusual drinks that are available alongside normal soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. Before the lunch break you can usually get a table without queuing or other problems, even on Saturdays. The food is served before you can blink. It's a little more crowded in the afternoon.
