We ordered the small pork shoulder with dumpling and gravy via a delivery service. It was excellently packaged, the gravy was separate and still hot. Truly top-notch, highly recommended!

There were six of us on Friday evening. The Schäuferla (roast pork shoulder) was delicious. Crispy crackling and tender meat that fell right off the bone. We waited maybe 30 minutes for our food, even though the entire dining room was full, including the basement. They have a variety of beers on tap.

The food was very good. However, we had to wait a very long time for it. We booked a table for 1:15 pm on Sunday, but the food didn't arrive until 3 pm. This wouldn't have been so bad if the server had mentioned it when we placed the order. Staff can always call in sick or be absent at short notice. We weren't the only ones who had to wait so long for their food.

The liver dumpling soup was excellent, and the shoulder of pork was fantastic as always. The dumplings and sauce were simply delicious. If you want to eat something decent in Nuremberg, I highly recommend this!

We were there today for our club's quarterly meeting, and everything was fantastic. The service was pleasant and truly super friendly. Schnitzel with fried potatoes and Schäuferla (a kind of pork shoulder) with dumplings were both truly delicious. A colleague had apple strudel for dessert and loved it. I ordered a Schäuffele to go today. It tasted really good, but I'm really disappointed by the size! It was the smallest Schäuffele I've ever had :( and I still paid €17!

The meat, dumplings, and sauce were perfect, but the crust on the shoulder of pork was hard to bite into. It was as hard as old leather. The shoulder of pork brawn with fried potatoes was very tasty. We'll try it again anyway.

We were invited and were very impressed. The only negative point was that they couldn't tell us whether the potato salad had lemon... Otherwise, the staff was very friendly; we just would have liked more drinks in between.

If you're looking for authentic and truly good Franconian food, this is the place to be! The restaurant has a small menu with a few select dishes, which I find very positive, as it allows the kitchen to guarantee a perfect focus on quality over quantity while keeping wait times for food very short. And that's exactly what happened on my visit. We had a Schäuferle (a good thing: you can order a large or small portion) and a Sauerbraten with dumplings and red cabbage as an extra side dish. My Sauerbraten was absolutely perfect! It couldn't be better. The meat was tender as butter, the sauce not too sour, and with wonderful flavors. The same goes for the dumplings and the exceptionally well-seasoned red cabbage. The Schäuferle was also really very good. Here, someone knows exactly what they're doing. Big thanks to the kitchen! The service is very friendly and attentive; you immediately feel welcome and in good hands. Drinks and food are served quickly, even when the place is busy. I find the prices almost too cheap for this quality, especially in the city center. I can only recommend this restaurant without reservation and will definitely be going back.

As a Rhinelander, I have to say: That was a truly delicious schnitzel. I can eat it again. Especially because I'm a Nuremberg girl. ❤️

We picked up a sauerbraten, red cabbage, and an extra dumpling with sauerbraten sauce – everything was delicious, and ordering and picking it up went smoothly! The sauerbraten was the best we've had in a long time; we'll be back!

The food was generously portioned and very tasty (pictured is a small portion of shoulder of pork with dumplings and sauce, along with a 0.5l light beer). The indoor and outdoor areas are certainly inviting. Card payments are accepted. Definitely recommended, and I would return here if I had the chance.

We met at Schäufelewärtsschaft for a colleague get-together after making a reservation (highly recommended, can be made online) on a Wednesday evening. The welcome was immediately extremely friendly, and the overall ambiance is very inviting. We were served promptly, and all orders were carried out flawlessly. The food and drinks were extremely tasty; I was both surprised and delighted by the Schäufelesalat (shoulder salad). Everything was absolutely perfect here; none of us had the slightest complaint. We felt "absolutely at home" here and can highly recommend Schäufelewärtsschaft – we will definitely return...

No drink request, Schäufelchen ranked third in Nuremberg. Going home with just one beer is unacceptable.

Anyone who finds something to complain about here hasn't heard the bang. I ate the Sauerbraten today, sorry, nothing else can compete with that. Not to mention the Schäufele (pork shoulder), I could easily get myself into trouble with that anyway. One can only hope that the economy lasts forever.

I ate two German specialties here. I loved the grilled leg, the crispy skin, and the sauce. Everything was typically German. However, it was a bit too salty for me, and the portion was quite large. It's recommended to order a salad with it, otherwise everything will be too greasy!

A fine little inn! We had a delicious Schäuferle (pork shoulder) with dumplings and delicious red cabbage. It was fantastic. The beer was also very good. The service was very friendly! The prices are totally fair! I would definitely come back!

So if you want a good shoulder of pork, you can go here without worry. The waitresses were friendly and forthright. The ambiance wasn't really my taste, especially the outdoor area, but that's still no reason to avoid a visit.

What else can I say other than: perfect! I spontaneously tried to get a table around 6 p.m. It was possible, but there was a wait. Yeah, the service here is faster and better than in many other restaurants. Very, very good. The food was also perfect. I'd be happy to come back.

I was at the Wärtschaft today—for the first time in a while. I had the—actually completely banal—dish of the day: baked feta with salad. What can I say: it was good. What's still amazing, though, is that they always have the best beers there. Where else in Nuremberg can you get Wettelsheimer, or Brauhaus am Kreuzberg (in a clay jug)? I'm already looking forward to my next two free hours...

I ordered online, was given a delivery time of 35-50 minutes. 10 minutes after ordering, I went to take a shower, and about 5 minutes later, the doorbell rang. This was followed by a ten-minute storm of ringing and frantic knocking on my door. Like a madman. Firstly, this madman arrived much earlier than the stated time, and secondly, he knew I was taking a shower, meaning he expected me to inappropriately open the door for him as quickly as possible. Then the terror stopped. That was my first and last order here. Disgusting manners. The owner's response is based on distorted facts.

We received a very friendly welcome and immediately felt at home in the rustic atmosphere. The waiter was very accommodating and brought me more sauce when he noticed I wanted more. We were absolutely thrilled. All in all, an excellent evening in a quaint restaurant with very good service. I would definitely recommend the Franconian Schäufle (pork shoulder). If we come to Nuremberg again, we will visit this restaurant again.

No, absolutely not a recommendation! The service is typically rude in Franconia and seems overwhelmed. The schnitzel was tough, and the potato salad was, to put it mildly, inedible. It's really expensive for such a service. The negative highlight, however, are the rat traps in every corner! There's scurrying in the hedges, something crawling along the walls. It feels like you're in a bad movie. The owner should be ashamed! Never again. Ugh!!

I previously reviewed it about a year or two ago, and after that, I went there maybe two or three more times and ate something else, which was also OK. The Sauerbraten has become smaller and the presentation is simpler (at least fewer cranberries), but the meat is still very tender, top quality. I don't know if it's the spices, but something has definitely changed because it gave me severe gas today, and even my wife, who, unlike me, isn't usually overly sensitive, has. The food there used to be wholesome. What a shame! Can't you prepare the food like you used to in the future?! Since the meat was really tender and of top quality, and the food is also reasonably priced, I'm only deducting one star from the overall rating of four. Otherwise, I would have given it only two, because the food (two instead of four, otherwise I would have given only one) is the most important individual rating.

The walls have old pictures, and the wooden tables have seen many winters. The place is full of people eating and talking. You can smell something good cooking. Inside this former industrial quarter, Schäufelewirtschaft orchestrates a masterful rendition of Franconian cuisine, where the celebrated Schäufele (crispy pork shoulder) reigns supreme. Accompanied by time-honored companions like Kloß (potato dumplings) and Sauerkraut, each dish emerges from the kitchen with mathematical precision, a testament to generations of culinary expertise. The food here gives you power for the cold days. Just like German trains, the kitchen works with perfect timing. The basement tables are quieter, perfect for eating and talking with friends. Many people come here, so you need to call first to get a table. The establishment's deliberate resistance to modernization paradoxically becomes its most compelling attribute. The decor, frozen somewhere in the 1960s, creates an authenticity that no designer could replicate. Here, where Sauerbraten meets Lebkuchen, and Bratwurst accompanies Obatzda, the Franconian culinary heritage persists untouched by contemporary gastronomy's whims. As the evening ends and you step outside, something funny happens. The heavy food makes you feel ready for the famous German weather. Maybe now you understand why locals seem so organized and strong - they have this food to help them! But look, even in this industrial part of town, the sunset gives the old buildings a warm, almost Mediterranean glow. Some things never change, and sometimes, that's exactly what we need.

Excellent Franconian cuisine and very good draft beers.

Lunch - restaurant almost empty - ordered a small and a regular Schäufele (shoulder of pork) - according to the menu, it was supposed to be "oven-fresh." The small Schäufele was mostly hard and almost inedible, as was the notch, which was supposed to be crispy. There are pictures of it on the website. The other Schäufele was "edible" but by no means oven-fresh and certainly not the kind you'd expect from a reference restaurant for Franconian Schäufele. The side salad was okay, as was the beer. When asked about the poor quality of the Schäufele, the waitress dismissed it: "Perhaps the small piece of Schäufele was in the middle of the others during the roasting, and besides, the large one would have been mostly eaten." But that was more due to my hunger than the quality. Customer service can be improved.

Sunday and we're still stuck in traffic at 7 p.m. A call asking if we can still come in 1.5 hours. The lady says in a completely uncomplicated and friendly manner: “Yes, you are welcome to come!” Everything, from the service to the ambience and of course an absolutely great Schäufle... That's exactly how it should be!! A big compliment! And the food that came to our table looked exactly like the photos posted online 👍
