Schanzenbach in Hamm

We went out for dinner last night, the three of us. Despite the restaurant being full, the staff member served us quickly and courteously, including a recommendation for something we'd buy... simply fantastic! We'll definitely be back.

The fries were okay. The burger bun was of supermarket quality and inedible.

I called, the lady on the phone said "15 minutes." I arrived in 15 minutes, and now I've been standing at the counter for 45 minutes, and they haven't started serving yet. There are a few people there eating, yes, I understand, but sorry, waiting 45 minutes is absolutely NOT acceptable!

If you want fast food, then order from here. In my opinion, it's definitely better than McDonald's.

Always great and delicious. Perhaps you could ventilate the room a bit more in the evenings, as the smoke sometimes lingers in the room, and eating in it can be unpleasant. Otherwise, everything is great as always. Thanks to the staff for the excellent service.

We waited over 30 minutes and were served by three sleepy ladies who just couldn't get anything done. Plus, we got a super soggy toasted burger, hot dog bun, and half-raw fries. There was only one customer ahead of us. 😬

Extremely satisfied! I enjoyed the bacon burger so much that I irrationally ordered a second one. The place was very clean, and the new restroom was also very clean. The employees were quick and friendly. The schnitzel, fries, cheeseburger, and chicken burger also tasted very good. The prices are also very fair. Unfortunately, we're not from there; if the snack bar were here, it would be my new favorite!

It's been better. I can't recommend the schnitzel anymore. It's unfortunately deep-fried. The fries with hunter's sauce and bratwurst are okay, but the portion of fries is too small and overpriced. The curry sauce is great and was the same 50 years ago. I go there often, but as I said, I only buy certain things there. It would be nice if this review were taken seriously.

A very good snack bar. Clean, inviting, and delicious. We go there on average once or twice a month, at different times, and we don't always see the same staff. But that doesn't matter, as most of them are friendly and attentive.

Questionable deposit policy at your snack bar? We were at your snack bar today for lunch. They asked us whether we wanted to eat inside or takeaway. Our answer was, "Please come to your store." Nevertheless, the deposit for the cans was charged, which would be fine if you informed your customers accordingly and issued a paper receipt for clarity. When I inquired, I was told that the deposit would be refunded when the cans were returned to the counter. If the cans were placed in the tray cart, it would be considered a tip for the employees. And, by the way, our customers know this very well, and it was even treated flippantly. Now, I also consider myself your customer and have not been adequately informed about this policy. Either your ladies at the counter should inform us, or a notice should be posted. I don't suppose you want your business run this way? By the way, I'm not concerned about a few euros in deposits, I just don't agree with the way it's done. No response for weeks is also a statement and very bad form! An update today, June 14, 2025 I was at the snack bar around 3:00 PM and ordered the Paprica schnitzel menu. When I ordered, there was an already fried schnitzel in the fryer, which was then obviously fried again for me. When I picked up my plate, the schnitzel was no longer in the fryer, and the mini fries were also twice as fried and both very hard. During this time, I was the only person who ordered, so the only possible situation is the one I described. A word about the mini fries: they were very small (second-grade) and, due to their size and hardness, were reminiscent of Funny Frisch Sticks. That was a fast food disaster. Now, hours later, the menu sits heavily in my stomach, and I feel very bad. And that's despite the Schanzenbach staff's own very high standards. (See homepage) Now, I don't know if this is what management intended, for profit maximization, etc. =THIS IS NOT HOW IT WORKS, DEAR MANAGEMENT= The deposit policy is still outrageous; the receipt isn't issued. Does the Schanzenbach clan live off the deposit?

In any case... A first class chip shop - the braised onions are simply great and go well with almost everything. Hamburgers are highly recommended.

Price was okay but the mayonnaise was very sour and unfortunately so was the curry sauce, so the taste experience won't be there. Because the acid trumps everything.

Hamm-Werries is always worth a visit

As always, the food was delicious (for fast food standards, of course). The shop itself is nicely decorated, but the new, hip design doesn't correspond to what Schanzenbach is all about: the french fries rack from next door, and therefore has the taste of gentrification. Too bad.

We always stop here when we visit Hamm. We are always thrilled and look forward to it every time we arrive. Thank you and see you next time.

We wanted to quickly grab something on the way back and we had nothing to complain about. Short waiting time for 4 fries and 2 currywurst (we're not alone in the world), friendly service and the currywurst in particular was a hit as always. Definitely a recommendation from me. And thank you for the nice conversation with the employee. When the holiday season is over, better times will come ;-)

Had to wait half an hour for 2x fries with mayonnaise even though there were 3 people behind the counter. I definitely won't go there again. If they didn't have to be paid in advance I would have left this snack bar. I have never experienced anything like this in other snack bars with many more customers

Vegan burger quite ok, a bit dry and few vegetables, service friendly, ambience, just a chip shop, but clean and tidy.

What a disgrace the store is, I've ordered and picked up food there several times and was mostly happy with the food. What doesn't work at all is that something was missing or wrong at least 4 times. I've overlooked it until now, but today the camel's back overflowed. I ordered fries with mayo and paid then I get home and what's missing is the mayo and then, unsuspecting, I cut my forester's cream schnitzel and what do I see? There was still a piece of baking paper under the whole schnitzel, so I don't think that's possible.

Well, it used to be ok. The schnitzel was ok, nothing more, the fries were either old or had been there for far too long. And there were no tomatoes with the salad, they were probably out 😄.

Good fast food restaurant with fries, sausages, schnitzels, burgers and hot dogs. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is nicely decorated. A good place to go for both small and large appetites.

Good food.. Clean restaurant. Versatile offer. But differences in the employees.. My favorite is by far Jasmin.. She is nice, fast and she definitely makes the 5 star.. We come in regularly.

Die Pommes sind leider super dünn aber alles andere schmeckt sehr gut.

Guten Tag. Wir waren am 1.11 in Ihrem Geschäft. Es war sehr sauber und nett eingerichtet. Das Hot Dog und die Currywurst waren gut. Was gar nicht geht, das die Mitarbeiter kalte Pommes zum 2. Mal in die Friteuse tut. Bei uns auf dem Teller kamen Salzstangen an. Das hat uns den Abend verderben.

Ambiente sehr sauber und ordentlich, Essen war schnell fertig. Jedoch etwas unfreundliches Personal und die Pommes waren leider nur lau warm mit viel zu viel Mayonnaise. Der Schanzenbach in Bockum Hövel ist hier die deutlich bessere Wahl.

Die von uns bestellten Essen waren einwandfrei und lecker,zudem preislich absolut in Ordnung.

Leider wurde mir zum wiederholten Mal eine völlig vertrocknete aufgewärmte Wurst verkauft und die kalten Pommes wurden einfach nochmal warmfritiert.

Ich wohne zwar nicht in Hamm, bin aber seit zwölf Jahren jedes Jahr ein paar Wochen beruflich in Hamm. Endlich wieder lecker essen. Ich verbinde Hamm mit Schanzenbach. Habe heute morgen was kritisches über die Pommes gelesen. Kann ich nicht bestätigen. Wie immer: Essen großartig, Portion macht satt. Service ist schnell und freundlich. Danke an das Team.

Das Essen ist immer lecker. Heute fehlte noch etwas Freundlichkeit. Es ist immer alles sauber und ordentlich, es fehlt aber immer ein Stück Gemütlichkeit.

Bin oft & gerne da, im großen & ganzen alles in Ordnung bis auf eine jüngere Mitarbeiterin mit polnischen oder russischen Akzent, diese lächelt nie, Begrüßungen & Verabschiedungen sind auch nicht ihr Ding, grundsätzlich kalter Ton & hat kein Händchen fürs Essen zubereiten.

Immer gute Currywurst. Sehr lecker sind auch die Chilli-Cheese Fries und Burger!

Nette Service Damen aber völlig überfordert mit der Arbeit. Kundschaft ist wieder gegangen weil sie so lange warten mussten. Unsere Bestellung wurde drei mal abgefragt, weil es immer wieder vergessen wurde dann aber trotzdem falsch gewesen. Tische waren nicht sauber. Echt schade

Lecker Jägerschnitzel gegessen absolut der Hammer. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und vor allem war es dort auch sehr sauber. Man konnte sich wohl fühlen. Jederzeit gerne wieder kann ich nur empfehlen.

Freundliche Mitarbeiter, das Essen ist auch sehr lecker. Essen ist schnell fertig. Sehr empfehlen kann ich die "Überbackenen Spezialpommes"

Die Dame hinter Theke hätte ruhig etwas lächeln dürfen, man hat sich als Kunde nicht wirklich willkommen gefühlt. Unfreundlich war die Dame deswegen aber "nicht". Der Veggie Burger hat sehr gut geschmeckt, die Curry Schale aus dem Juni Angebot war jedoch massiv überwürzt, dafür aber wirklich sehr schön, genau wie auf dem Angebots-Foto angerichtet. Das Ladenlokal super sauber und ein sehr schönes geräumiges Ambiente. Die Preise sind absolut fair :-)

Haben hier Schnitzel gegessen. Mein Mann mit Pfefferrahmsoße ich mit Jägersoße. Das Fleisch war super. Kein Plattgeklopftes Schnitzel, wie es oftmals üblich ist. Die Soße schmeckte arg nach Brühe. Hat mir nicht so geschmeckt. Deshalb einen Punkt Abzug. Man bestellt an der Theke und holt das bestellte Essen dort auch ab. Natürlich Pommesbudenambiente ;-)) Sollten wir nochmal dort sein , werde wir den Hamburger probieren. Der sah ganz gut aus. Achso......die Pommes waren auch gut.

Es ist immer wieder lecker und auch meist gut besucht. Wenn man dort isst ist das okay nur an der Abluft muss man mal was ändern.Der Qualm zieht schnell ins Auge und hinterlässt auch Geruch an der Kleidung. Wäre schön wenn sich das verbessert.

Sogenannte "Pommesbuden" sind ja selten geworden. Diese ist aber ein Original! Schon vor 40 Jahren (!) Sind wir am Wochenende aus Hamburg gekommen und haben als erstes eine Currywurst bei Schanzenbach vernascht.

Voellig überbewertet. Zu Hause angekommen, Salat fehlte. 2 Mini Bacon Streifen nicht cross. Zwiebel kalt Brot lauwarm bis kalt. Paettie na ja, Brauche ich nicht wieder!!!!

Ich war inzwischen drei Mal dort vor Ort und war jedes Mal in diesem Moment der einzige Kunde dort. Die Mitarbeiterinnen waren jedes Mal sehr freundlich und das Lokal (Imbiss) war immer in einem anstandslos sauberen Zustand (auch die Zubereitungsflächen waren tiptop sauber, was mir jedes Mal besonders aufgefallen ist). Parkmöglichkeiten sind vor dem Imbiss (direkt an der Straße) und neben dem Imbiss vorhanden. Pommes und Wurst schmeckten lecker. Die Würzung war Standard (also nicht in irgendeiner Weise besonders positiv oder negativ auffällig). Die Burger sagten mir allerdings nicht besonders zu, zu matschig war der Aufbau und mir fehlte so ein typischer Burgergeschmack dabei (vermutlich sind die Patties einfach zu wenig gewürzt). Für eine Pommes-Currywurst zu empfehlen, vor allem weil man sich dort (im Gegensatz zu vielen Imbissbuden) ordentlich hinsetzen kann und alles perfekt sauber ist, aber für Burger-Liebhaber eher nicht so der Tipp.

Am Sonntag kurz mal gestoppt um den Hunger zu stillen. Was nimmt man(n) dann? Mantaplatte... War von dem Aussehen des "neuen" Ldens sehr angetan. Über die Qualität der Wurst und der Fritten muss man nicht viel sagen. Wie immer klasse. Das die Fritten nicht mehr die dicken von früher sind, naja. Das eintzige das mich etwas gestört hatt, war die Absaugung. In einem neuen Laden sollte man meinen das diese leiser sein könnten. Trotzdem würde ich wieder hingehen und den Laden auch weiterempfehlen.
