Schanzenbach Snack & Grill in Hamm

After more than ten years of abstinence, today – after a 24-hour shift – I absolutely had to treat myself to a Manta platter from the snack bar. At the counter, I was offered a "Manta platter menu" including a drink. Sounded good – so I ordered it, along with a malt beer. But then came the sentence: "That's not possible, it's more expensive!" Okay, I thought, I'll just pay the 10 cent difference. But no – that wasn't possible either, as the three ladies behind the counter explained to me in unison. No one could tell me why, though. So I gave up and reluctantly took a can of Fanta. A few minutes later, the food arrived – and what can I say: The shine this chip shop once had has long since faded. The fries: much too hard and dry – awful. The bratwurst: probably been on the grill for hours, drier than a Tempranillo from Rioja – but unfortunately without the accompanying burst of flavor. The curry sauce: I have no idea what to say about that. It has nothing to do with love or the memories I had of Schanzenbach – pure disappointment. Conclusion: A bitter disappointment. After the next 24-hour surgery marathon, I'd rather drive two kilometers further to the Golden M and get a burger there. Definitely never again here on Werler Straße.

The best schnitzel we've eaten in a long time!

Ich weiss nicht was mit schanzenbach los ist. Heute mantaplatte gegessen. Die sauce war von der Menge her ein Witz, das war mal definitiv mehr. Die Pommes werde meiner Meinung nach immer schlimmer. Wenn das so weiter geht sind die demnächst nur noch 1 Sekunden in der Fritteuse. Ausserdem ist schanzenbach noch der einzige Imbiss der diese ekligen dünnen Pommes verkauft. Und vernünftig gewürzt sind die sich nicht mehr

In 1972, I moved to Hamm with my parents. While we were renovating, we often got gypsy schnitzel and fries. Now I'm back here again and have had it again. It still tastes just as delicious as it did back then. Awesome❤️

The fries are rock-hard because they re-fried the leftovers. And then they charge 40 cents more than the menu says. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!!!

There were three of us here. The fries were okay, the sausage was okay, and the curry sauce was more like warm ketchup. There was both indoor and outdoor seating, although there was no shade outside.

Some of the reviews are quite surprising to me, and some seem to be motivated by other reasons. A very friendly lady served me. The food (bacon burger) was freshly prepared in front of my eyes. It tasted excellent. Considering that even a McDonald's meal rarely costs less than €10 these days, the price-performance ratio is quite reasonable (€6.70 for a substantial burger). The downstairs part of the building (restaurant) has been renovated and has a modern feel. The kitchen and storage areas – as far as I could see – were very tidy and clean. I'll definitely be back!

Very friendly staff, pleasant service, and delicious fries, but the best part is the currywurst – from the grill. The sausage and sauce (fruity with a slight acidity) go well together... always have, no matter which location in Hamm. There's no accounting for taste – we've tried many sausages at other restaurants (including those outside of Hamm), but none have impressed us as much. And according to a reader vote by the German newspaper "WA", the "Hammer Currywurst Crown" went to Schanzenbach. ;-)

Unfortunately, the currywurst isn't that spicy. The curry sauce tastes more like tomato ketchup. Curry lovers should ask for more seasoning. The hamburgers looked really delicious. I'll try them next time. Very friendly service. Also very suitable for cyclists. EC payments are accepted.

Schanzenbach... The best chip forges in the entire area

Today I got what I consider to be the best currywurst ever. An absolute delicacy for years and days. In my opinion, Schanzenbach is the best snack bar ever. Delicious food, super nice service. Absolutely recommended

Nice, pleasant and everything looks clean. Unfortunately, I got food poisoning from the hot dog yesterday. Above all, they were boiled onions and not fried onions. The sausage was disgusting. But the fries were okay.

The worst bratwurst of my life. I ordered a fries special and a bratwurst. The fries weren't good, but OK, but the bratwurst was really subpar. It tasted sticky and so burnt and dried out that I had to crumble out almost half of the sausage in order to eat at least half of it. Next time it's better to go back to Schanzenbach on the Alten Uentroper Weg... even if it's not on the way. - but at least you get a sausage that doesn't taste as good as if it had been on the side of the grill since the morning.

We ordered a fries with currywurst and a fries special. The fries were very soggy and the curry sauce or ketchup tasted like it came from a cheap packet. The mayo on the fries wasn't great either. All in all very disappointing and we would have preferred to save the money. The ambience was very nice, it was easy to sit outside.

Even 1 star is way too much for this disgusting store. I would prefer to contact the health department on Monday.

Overtaxed employee, dirty tables, We've never had such a bad meal at Schanzenbach

We occasionally go to Schanzenbach on Werler Straße and we were actually happy. The last 2 visits were disappointing. We were there on 7/2/24 and that was our last visit. We ordered 3 hot dogs, 1 cheeseburger and 2 fries. The hot dogs were so soaked in the sauces that you couldn't eat them. There was just so much that it was uncomfortable. With a cheeseburger, the lettuce is first placed on the underside of the bun, directly from a bowl of water, without allowing it to drain properly. Who does something like that??? The bottom was completely soggy and mushy. I saw it with the customer in front of us who had also ordered a burger. I didn't pay attention to mine because we were getting impatient. Because when the hot dogs and fries were ready, only then did the employee put the patty for the burger on the grill. The other things were kept in containers where it was probably warm to keep warm. Well, the fries rounded it all off. They were cold and hard. It's not the first time that we weren't really satisfied but overall it was ok. We won't risk having such bad food again in the future. I would like to add that I sent an email to Schanzenbach on July 18, 24. That's what I was asked to do and I complied. They wanted to get in touch immediately. As of today, July 31, 24, I have not received any response. A pity!!!

Look delicious, so much more than just a “bubble”. Prices were completely okay, I had Fritten Chef Spezial (or something similar) and almost didn't finish the portion. We paid €17 for the two of us and we're not bad eaters 🤭

We actually always get our food in Pelkum near Schanzenbach, today on Werler Straße! That wasn't a good idea, I ordered a double currywurst and a double fries and the same in normal! Not difficult I got double fries, double currywurst and fries???? The currywurst was really burnt too! See photo if you recognize it🤷‍♀️

I love Schanzenbach's currywurst sauce. The ladies at the grill are all friendly.

So I was really disappointed again!!! You order a paprika schnitzel and you get a plain schnitzel! When I asked if there could be more sauce, the answer was no! The boss only approves a small ladle! And that with the prices! Same with the currywurst, it's getting smaller and smaller and there's hardly any sauce! So if you really need to save, have fun, but not at my expense! And not only I noticed this, but also several people from my circle of friends!!! Never again Schanzenbach!!! This company policy has easily scared away 20 customers! And they pass this on too! And the service is absolutely out of place!!! With this company policy, i.e. save, save, save, Schanzenbach is doing itself a disservice!!!

There used to be a delicious Jaeger sauce. The Jaeger sauce that is available today doesn't come close to the taste. It's a shame.

The hottest currywurst ever!!! This sauce with the same taste has remained that way since the early 80s. Who can claim to always maintain this quality? Definitely the Schanzenbach company. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to Hamm :-))))

Ich war mit meinen Mädels im Krankenhaus in der Aufnahme. Nach 3 Stunden in der Aufnahme hatten wir so Hunger, dass ich draußen mal geschaut habe was es so in der Nähe gibt. Ich hatte nur drei Pommes mit Mayo bestellt. Beim bezahlen stockte ich stutzig als mir die Dame die Hand mit dem eindeutig fettigen Handschuh hinhielt. Als ich so eine halbe Sekunde die Situation am einschätzen war, zog die Gute mir schon den Zwanziger ruppig aus der Hand. Das Rückgeld bekam ich auch aus eben diesem Handschuh. Wäre ich nicht in der Situation wie ich war (kurz vor Ladenschluss und extrem hungrig) hätte ich mein Geld wieder haben wollen bei dem Umgang mit Hygiene. Als ich da wartete und das Geschehen beobachtete, kam ein weiterer Gast der eine Currywurst bestellte. Der anderen Dame ist beim händischen Schneiden der Wurst diese auf den Boden gefallen. Man sah ihr förmlich an, dass sie überlegte, was sie jetzt genau macht! Die Damen fingen an zu flüstern, bestimmt zwanzig Sekunden. Ich als Kunde frage mich was es da zu klären gibt. Sie hob die Wurst dann auf, aber nicht über die Ladentheke. Ich kann mir sehr gut vorstellen, dass die Wurst, wenn der Laden wieder leer war den Weg auf den Grill gewunden hatte. Den Laden würde ich nur im Verhungerungsfall empfehlen. Bei Pommes kann man gar nicht soviel falsch machen. Alles andere würde ich davon auf gar keinen Fall bestellen. Guten Appetit

Gutes Preis- Leistungsverhältnis. Wir haben vor Ort gegessen und fanden das Ambiente ganz gemütlich, obwohl es ein recht kleiner Laden. Auch draußen Plätze sind vorhanden. Das Essen hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt und sollte es uns nochmal nach Hamm verschlagen, kommen wir gerne nochmal her 😄.

Ist halt eine Pommesbude. Aber, und das ist leider mittlerweile selten, die Bedienung ist immer freundlich und der Laden wirkt sehr sauber.

Ich bin schon öfter bei Schanzenbach gewesen. Es war immer gut und wird immer gut reiben. Grüße an Familie Schanzenbach, lange nicht gesehen. Gruß Thomas

nach langer zeit, schuld daran war ne currywurst mit doppelt kümmel drin, mal wieder currywurst probiert und siehe dadie war sau lecker. auch die pommes waren exellent. kann ich nur empfehlen, schanzenbach werlerstrasse.achso die kümmelwurst war nicht aus diesem laden!

Keinerlei Kritik nötig. Pommes super lecker, knusprig & (für mich) perfekt gewürzt. Mein Mann der Pommes und Mantateller - Experte war auch begeistert. Der Veggieburger kann sich definitiv auch sehen lassen und Geschmacklich vollkommen ausreichend so wie er ist. Allein das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist Top. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Ist eine sehr schöne kleine Pommesbude mit ziemlich viel Auswahl. Innen und Außen sind ein paar Sitzmöglichkeiten vorhanden. Preise sind in Ordnung und das Essen ist okay. Könnte meiner Meinung nach etwas besser sein, aber Geschmäcker sind ja verschieden.

Kartoffelsalat und Frikadelle schmecken wie aus der Packung. Die Bedienung hatte im Kundenkontakt ihre Mimik nicht ganz im Griff und hat die Höflichkeit betreffend gerade noch die Kurve bekommen. Nächstes Mal lieber eine belegtes Brötchen vom Bäcker!

Der Burger war nur mit Curryketchup gefüllt und dazu auch noch viel zu teuer! Das Hähnchen ist ganz Ok. Aber der rest ist zu teuer und ekelhaft.

Lt. Verkäuferin wird von neuem Metzger geliefert. Der Geschmack ist abartig und die Haut zu dick. Nie wieder Schanzenbach !

Vollkommen überteuert. Die Qualität ist etwas unter mittelmässig, der Preis Oberklasse. Saucen sind aus dem Eimer, werden aber als hausgemacht bezeichnet. Ich kenne viele Imbissbetriebe in Deutschland, Schanzenbach gehört zu den Schlechten. Ehrlich gesagt: Eine Schande für alle Imbisse.

Mein Essen war echt super, Service auch. Vor allem der Baconburger ist sehr zu empfehlen. Wirkt alles sehr modern. Freue mich schon auf den nächsten Burger

Einfach nur lecker! Gerade für die Mittagspause perfekt. Geht ruck zuck und der Service ist top. Ich hatte ein Paprikarahmschnitzel mit Pommes beides war top👍 gerne wieder

Überhaupt nicht gut, weder das essen, noch der Service. 80% gingen zurück weil es ungenießbar ist und man muss sich entschuldigen wenn man bestellt. Scheinbar sind die Angestellten überfordert.

Einfach nur lecker, und das coole ist seit dem Umbau ist es noch viel schöner dort zu essen. Der Baconburger schmeckt sehr gut dazu noch Kartoffelecken einfach köstlich :-)) Vor allem das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis ist gut !

Ich esse seit Jahren bei Schanzenbach und bin immer wieder begeistert. Die Currywurst schmeckt da einfach am besten! Egal in welcher Filiale, die Leute sind immer nett und mein Essen war immer perfekt. Für mich gibt es in Hamm keine bessere Möglichkeit vernünftige Pommes zu essen. Mit McDonals oder sonstigen Ketten überhaupt nicht zu vergleichen. Die Qualität ist bei Schanzenbach einfach besser!

Leckere Currywurst, Fritten und liebenswertes Personal. Besonders lecker, die Curry Soße. Falls ich vorbeikomme, immer eine Halt wert.

Waren sehr enttäuscht....TK Knusperschnitzel mit einer halben Port. Pommes. Viel zu wenig....und geschmeckt hat es auch nicht. Die Pommes Mayo Currywurst war auch nicht gut. Und was viel schlimmer ist viel zu teuer. Eine Fanta ein Pils = 14.50€ Für einen Imbiss in der Qualität stimmt Preis / Leistung nicht. Das Personal auch nicht freundlich. Und die Abzugshaube im Imbiss funktioniert auch nicht... Also jede Hausfrau macht besseres Essen....
