Vegetarian buffet lots of choice. The soup was a bit confusing. You can only chose for a large cup, which is intended for a full meal size. we ended up sharing same type if soup. You cannot go for refills so you end up piling everything one one plate and creat a mix-up. Due to this limitation you cannot enjoy the taste of each individual dish. It's really a shame.

I've been a regular at all Sattgrün locations for years. But recently, they've been restructuring the Essen location, and it's not well thought out, which I don't like. It's a buffet restaurant; there's no table service. So why get rid of the trays? Is cleaning them too much trouble? I like to have a small plate from the buffet, along with soup, bread, and a drink. It used to be relaxing, but now it's a logistical challenge. How is this supposed to work in the summer when people want to sit outside? The cutlery and napkins on the table are also pointless if they aren't regularly replenished. Everyone is forced to run from table to table searching for the appropriate cutlery. This only exacerbates the already loud and hectic atmosphere. Sattgrün Essen has lost me as a regular customer for now.

The vegetarian and vegan selection is good and fresh. The prices reflect the quality. The staff at the self-checkout are friendly. The ambiance is very pleasant. Accessibility note: The restroom is in the basement. The food was tasty, but unfortunately only lukewarm and then quickly became cold. If a hot buffet is offered, the food should be kept warm. Especially here, one looks forward to enjoying a complete vegetarian or vegan restaurant experience and finally being able to eat more than just a cold salad and a few side dishes. Cold main courses are then a bitter disappointment. This seems to have happened quite often. The buffet, with its pay-per-plate system, is quite nice. The shallow plates are divided into low sections, which unfortunately make no sense at all. Deep plates or bowls would be much better. This creates a complete mess of hot and cold dishes and sauces. Everything slides, drips, or falls off the plate. It's really impractical with dishes that have sauces or salad toppings. But since you eat from a tray, it's manageable. If you want salad as a side dish rather than a main course, there's hardly any room left for hot food. So I skipped it altogether, which I found disappointing. In the evening, there was only one dessert left; everything else was sold out. Therefore, I went to a different restaurant for dessert and coffee. The trays, on which you carry your own plate to the table and cover it yourself in a tray cart, give it a bit of a cafeteria feel. The tray cart was very full of old dishes. During my approximately 2.5-hour stay, the tables weren't cleaned between guests. The restrooms should be checked for tidiness and cleanliness from time to time; I didn't find them well-maintained.

Everything we tried was lovely. Its always a treat to find a vegan buffet restaurant on day trips or holidays and this one did not disappoint.

My girlfriend enthusiastically dragged me in, but the food left me utterly disillusioned. The buffet was overflowing with beans, chickpeas, corn, and onions—a noisy aftermath was guaranteed. Tofu in every imaginable form, tasting somewhere between textured wallpaper and a horrifically swallowed turmeric regret. Mineral water with a world-saving label—eco, fair trade, and yet just... water. Service is beyond rating; you have to clear your own table. Political slogans in the restroom—larger than the menu and decidedly left-wing, of course. Food should unite, not divide. I was full, but not happy. My girlfriend loved it—I'll be looking for something with real flavor next time.

I've been here several times recently. I find most of the food delicious, no question, although some dishes are a bit too seasoned for my taste. But unfortunately, it's always quite messy. The tray trays are often overflowing, making it nearly impossible to put your own tray down. This was the case last week, when there were only two other guests besides me. If they can't even find the time to take care of things like that, it speaks volumes to me. Even last Saturday evening, when the restaurant was busy, the chair next to mine was still covered in sauce from the previous guest, and the tray for bottles and glasses was also overflowing. The restroom is practically always untidy, with bits of paper lying around and a full trash can. This unfortunately detracts significantly from the overall experience. The food tastes good to very good, but cleanliness and tidiness definitely need more attention.

I love the rich green color. Simply delicious food. 5 stars, even though there are two things that are a shame: - Why aren't you available in Bavaria? - A cake without wheat flour (gluten-free or with spelt flour) would be fantastic 🤗 I'll definitely order again.

A quiet and pleasant place, somewhat removed from the hustle and bustle of the city center. A simple concept – different plate sizes, each serving one helping from the buffet. Everything is vegetarian, varied, and absolutely delicious.

So, my dear vegan friends, I've already been to Sattgrün in Düsseldorf and now here in Essen. I absolutely love this buffet concept, it's definitely better this way! We escaped here from the newly opened market hall in Essen and were extremely satisfied. Of course, it was lunchtime in this office environment and therefore quite crowded, but that's also a 5-star review from the other guests. I, an omnivore, was delighted with the taste of my fried potatoes and the "meat substitute." And it was bright inside, too, unlike the market hall. So: we'll definitely be going back.

Stay away. It's dangerous!.It was tasty, though very fatty. But I felt really bad afterwards and had to throw up. I normally can eat everything with no problem. Also the fatty food. I suspect, it was the oil they use.

A nice surprise! You can put together your own meal. There are many options: salads, tofu, curry, and noodles. At the end, you'll find sunflower seeds, peanuts, and sesame seeds as toppings.

It was very busy on Friday evening. There are shared tables and individual tables. You walk along the buffet and help yourself to whatever you want. You pay by the size of your plate. The apple cherry crumble cake was fantastic.

Let's start with the positive: the food looks very good, and there's a fairly large selection. The taste, however, was quite mediocre, and that's certainly not due to the lack of animal products; I've also tried numerous MSG-free alternatives from Asian cuisine. The prices are also rather steep. When paying, we were only offered disposable cutlery, and only after asking. It's nice to try something like that, but still not really great.

I've been going here for four years now. The food is freshly prepared and healthy, with something for everyone. I'm not strictly vegan, but the food here is delicious. I've even managed to win over meat-eaters! My absolute favorite cake is here: the peanut chocolate cake!! 😍😍😍

For me, Sattgrün is one of the best places in Essen for good vegan food. The ambiance is modern and stylish – a bistro where you feel at home. The buffet concept is particularly fun: you choose your plate size and combine your favorite dishes from the cold and hot buffet as you please. Whether it's sweet potato and coconut soup, colorful salads with fresh herbs, or curries and soy medallions – the selection is large, varied, and of high quality. There are also homemade cakes and drinks, most of which are organic. The seating inside is comfortable, and outside would be too – if it weren't for the problem of the very pushy beggars. During my stay, there were several disruptions, which is a shame, because the outdoor area would otherwise be truly inviting. The staff themselves are friendly, attentive, and clearly enjoy their food – you can tell right away. In conclusion: A thoroughly vegan bistro with fresh, creative cuisine and a great concept. For me, this is a clear recommendation for food – but it’s best enjoyed indoors.

Unfortunately, it's not like it used to be. I used to eat here often and I enjoyed it, but now it's become too expensive for me. Furthermore, the loyalty point card is only stamped on weekdays – but there's no indication of this on the card. I also found it unpleasant that an employee answered me in English even though I addressed her in German. She then spoke to another customer in German as usual.

Sattgrün has a fantastic selection of exclusively vegan dishes, both with and without meat substitutes. There are three different buffets, with salads, soups, and hot main courses. The concept isn't all-you-can-eat, though; instead, you pay per plate, with different sizes available at different prices. Cakes are also available. You can also pack your food and take it with you. The food is always fresh, well-seasoned, and I get the impression that many omnivores also enjoy eating here. There is seating both inside and outside, and so far, I've always found a spot without a reservation. One star deducted for the unfortunately high prices, but I do enjoy treating myself every now and then, especially since I definitely think vegan restaurants are worth supporting.

We had dinner at Sattgrün to try it out. I particularly like that it's a vegan restaurant. The selection was large and the service friendly. There's a buffet where you can put together your own meal, which is fresh and delicious. We definitely recommend it.

Food was super tasty, you choose a plate of a certain size and you pay for it and then you fill that plate with whatever you think would be tasty. Don't be stupid like me. You shouldn't wait at a table until you are helped, you have to go get your own food 😉

Rich green, a now well-known gastro concept. At this location, however, it is super clean, the buffet is perfect and visually appealing! 3 employees at lunchtime, a bit thin, so the payment process takes longer, but with a little time and patience still acceptable at lunchtime. It's a shame, and therefore a point deduction: here too, they didn't take into account that there are still mothers who visit the lush green area with strollers; cramped tables and chairs and other unfavorable combinations make it difficult.

Unfortunately we didn't think it was that good. The warm dishes were all cold, a total no go for me. When hot food is cold, I find it pretty disgusting. I found the buffet impractical to get to, as spills can hardly be avoided. It's canteen style, but you pay a lot for it, and the dishes are all quite similar. We just somehow had higher expectations based on the photos and presentations we had seen online. The tray tray wasn't emptied regularly and so you didn't know where to put your trays. Personally, we won't come back a second time.

We actually really enjoy coming to the café but today we were very disappointed. The young lady with the black braid this morning was very unfriendly and not at all hospitable. We paid with the card, the payment was authorized. Your comment that the payment hadn't gone through came like a shot, without even taking a look at the EC device. A very unpleasant experience. If it had been the first time today, it would have been our last visit.

Fantastic food, brilliantly nice service staff and very chill and rather calm atmosphere. Very positive vibe and apparently lots of kind people. I was positively shocked to find such a place.

Best choice for a really good vegan 🌱 meal with friends or even alone! Large selection at the buffet, which you can put together yourself or also soups. With a friend we decided on soup (he: Indian lentil soup with coconut, me: Chili Con Soja) - the portions are large (you can fill them into bowls yourself) and round off with toppings of your choice (croutons, parsley, spring onions , sunflower seeds) - if you wish, you can also get a free slice of bread. Price performance is absolutely amazing and a big recommendation :)

A few weeks ago I discovered “lush green” thanks to a tip. It is a vegan buffet-based restaurant with several branches (including in Düsseldorf). I'm not a vegan myself, just a vegetarian, but I'm certainly open to this experiment. Given the variety and tasty nature of the buffet, one could easily come up with the idea of ​​"switching". You choose one of three plate sizes or a bowl, the rest is self-service. The buffet offers cold and warm dishes (also to take away) and is very rich. The food is freshly prepared and empty bowls are promptly supplied from the kitchen. The dishes can then be rounded off individually with fresh herbs and a variety of herbs, seeds and grains. A soup dish with bread side dishes is also offered, but I haven't tried this yet. Drinks are served directly at the checkout or can be requested there, as can dessert and cake. In my opinion, the food tastes excellent. I particularly recommend the cooked pumpkin. The range of cakes on offer is also not to be sneezed at. The ambience in warm wooden tones is pleasant, although functionally furnished. I found the staff to be friendly and I think the prices are absolutely reasonable. In principle you can also reserve tables here. However, it is advisable to ask here. I would like to come here more often and try out the entire buffet.

This restaurant is a discovery. The food is delicious, the choice is enormous, the service is friendly and the atmosphere is extremely pleasant. Definitely worth it and we are already planning to try out the restaurants in Düsseldorf and Köln… or rather enjoy.

Always a good address if you are looking for delicious, vegan and, above all, varied food. After my last visit, I also consider it suitable for those with celiac disease, despite the buffet principle. The dishes are clearly marked as gluten-free. I don't know whether it was a happy coincidence or deliberate, I had the impression that the gluten-free dishes were in the "back row" or in a separate row. This reduces the risk of contamination enormously because no gluten-containing foods are loaded onto the gluten-free foods. Each container is also equipped with its own cutlery. The only downside is that there is currently no gluten-free cake option. If there were, it would have been 5 stars.

The food is very tasty!!!! You put your own food together. Various bowls and bowls are available, graded according to size (and price). You have to be careful not to sit in a draft, but otherwise you sit comfortably. If you want to eat vegan, you will be very happy here 🤤

Love it, finally a vegan buffet!

We have always enjoyed the food here so far. Even all the non-vegan people who brought along always had something to do here. The concept of the buffet is good, but the prices are high if you don't "fill up" your plate. It's nice to be able to help yourself to all the dishes at a buffet without having to ask about animal allergens first :) We have now been able to test a few cakes and we have always been very impressed with them. Unfortunately, the hot food is usually only lukewarm, which could be improved. I also find it disturbing that recently homeless people have often been harassing guests in restaurants. I can well understand that the employees don't want to put themselves in danger, but for me as a guest it is a reason for me as a guest to avoid the restaurant in the future if my stay there is influenced by outsiders (and especially their smells when eating are very unpleasant). I haven't experienced this at the other locations so far, perhaps a solution will be found here soon.
