Sehr lecker veganes Essen zu sehr fairen Preisen, hausgemachte Limonaden, guter Service

Leider muss ich meine sehr gute Bewertung von vor einigen Monaten revidieren. Ich war lange ein großer Fan des Ladens, da er vor allem für jüngere Leute eine großartige vegane Alternative zu normalen Restaurants bietet. Dafür nimmt man auch gerne längere Wartezeiten, kleinere Kommunikationsprobleme oder eine weniger professionelle Bedienung in Kauf. Bei unserem letzten Besuch im Peace Food hat sich meine Meinung jedoch deutlich geändert. Die Preise sind gestiegen, während die Portionen gleichzeitig kleiner geworden sind. Mit einer Preiserhöhung hätte ich grundsätzlich noch leben können, aber dass die Portionen gleichzeitig reduziert wurden, finde ich nicht in Ordnung. Wenn man zu zweit mit einer geteilten Vorspeise, Getränken und jeweils einem Hauptgericht am Ende bei etwa 45 € landet, muss ich nicht extra nach Essen fahren, sondern kann auch in Bochum in ein schönes Hipster-Café oder ein modernes Restaurant gehen. Dort würde ich dann allerdings auch einen entsprechenden Service erwarten. Was mich zusätzlich enttäuscht hat: Bei unserem Besuch wurden wir teilweise von Personen bedient, die meiner Einschätzung nach kaum älter als 12 Jahre waren. Da stellt sich für mich schon die Frage, ob hier alle Vorgaben zum Jugendschutz und Arbeitsschutz eingehalten werden. Vielleicht sollte man diesen Punkt einmal genauer prüfen lassen. Früher war Peace Food für mich ein echter Lieblingsladen, bei dem ich gerne über kleinere Probleme hinweg gesehen habe. Nach diesem Besuch hat sich meine Meinung leider stark geändert. Wirklich schade!

Ich hatte viel Gutes vom Essen im Peace Food gehört und war heute zum ersten Mal im Restaurant. Es wurde mir nicht zu viel versprochen - das Essen (vegane Ente mit Erdnusssauce) war super lecker 😊 Die Speisekarte bietet eine Menge Gerichte, so dass ich auf jeden Fall noch mal wiederkommen muss, um noch anderes zu testen. Dazu muss man sagen, die Preise sind mehr als fair! Einziger Haken ist vielleicht die eher schlicht gehaltene Einrichtung, gerade mit Blick auf das echt leckere Essen könnten die Inhaber hier noch einiges herausholen. Trotzdem eine klare Empfehlung an alle Veganer:innen und die, die sich gerne auch mal zeitweise durch vegane Köstlichkeiten futtern 😇

Da die Zeche Zollverein vegan ja eher mau aufgestellt ist, ist dieser kleine,vegane Imbiss ein echtes Refugium. Ansprüche an Design und Interieur mal nach Hinten gestellt, ist das Essen und die Auswahl wirklich einzigartig. Die Preise sind mehr als human, das Gemüse ist frisch und der Service sehr nett. Große Auswahl an Gerichten. Als wir dort waren [Samstags, 17Uhr] wurde es zusehens voller. Gutes Zeichen. Ein kleines, veganes Juwel, welches ich mir auch in meiner Stadt wünschen würde. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Ein wirklich hervorragendes veganes vietnamesisches Restaurant in Essen. Die Auswahl ist beeindruckend vielseitig und kreativ – besonders die pflanzlichen Interpretationen klassischer Gerichte wie „Shrimps“ oder „Ente“ sind sehr gelungen. Auch die Suppen und Vorspeisen überzeugen auf ganzer Linie – der Algensalat war wunderbar frisch und aromatisch. Insgesamt merkt man deutlich, dass hier mit hochwertigen Zutaten gearbeitet wird und viel Wert auf Geschmack gelegt wird. Der Service ist angenehm ruhig und aufmerksam, was dem Besuch eine entspannte Atmosphäre verleiht. Besonders schön: Es gibt auch passende Angebote für Kinder sowie eine kleine Spielecke, was das Restaurant sehr familienfreundlich macht. Alles in allem ein rundum gelungener Besuch mit richtig gutem Essen – klare Empfehlung!

Vegane Essen muss nicht langweilig oder fad und öde schmecken. Als eigentlicher Nicht-Veganer und hin-und-wieder Vegetarierer heute zum ersten (und garantiert nicht zum letzten) Mal aus Neugier und wegen eines Freundes der ungerne Fleisch ist hier gelandet und restlos begeistert gewesen. Von außen sehr unscheinbar, dann aber beim Betreten sehr überrascht gewesen. Sehr geräumiges Restaurant, mett eingerichtet, wurden vom freundlichen Personal gleich an unseren Tisch gebracht. Die Speisekarte war sehr umfangreich, es gibt asiatische vegane gerichte. Preislich eher im unteren Bereich angesiedelt, da braucht man nicht lange überlegen und bestellt gleich Vorspeise Hauptgericht und nachspeise. Alle 3 Gerichte waren hervorragend und ich habe Fleisch oder sonstige tierischen Produkte nicht vermisst. Selbst der Mango Lassi mit veganer Sahne war erste Klasse. Kommen gerne wieder.

Wir waren zu dritt vor Ort, es war eine total angenehme Atmosphäre und das Personal war auch super nett. Jeder von uns hatte ein Hausgemachtes Getränk, eine Vorspeise und ein Hauptgericht. Alles war super super lecker, wir waren alle echt angetan von den Speisen und Getränken. Wir würden definitiv wieder kommen und können dieses Restaurant nur weiterempfehlen.

Wir kennen das Restaurant schon länger und lieben das Essen, obwohl wir weder Vegetarier noch Veganer sind. Bislang haben wir es nur abgeholt. Dieses Mal hatte ich reserviert und war gestern mit meiner Geburtstags Gesellschaft von 12 Personen hier essen. Alle waren begeistert, auch die Personen die diese Küche noch nicht kannten. Sensationell war, dass die Getränke, wie die Vorspeisen, als auch die Hauptgerichte für alle am Tisch zusammen serviert wurden. Das Restaurant ist asiatisch einfach gehalten, aber trotzdem liebevoll eingedeckt. Wir saßen in dem kleinen Hinterraum der für meine Feier für die nötige Gemütlichkeit sorgte. Über meinem Geburtstagstisch schwebten zB viele bunte Luftballons. Kinder sind herzlich willkommen, es gibt eine Spielzeugecke und auch Hunde dürfen mit ins Lokal. Die Karte ist sehr vielfältig und das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis ist super. Wer mehr Ansprüche hat ( wie hier in einigen Rezensionenzu lesen ist ) muss auch mehr bezahlen. Der Fokus liegt auf der Qualität der Speisen, die durchweg frisch und hochwertig sind. Wir sind begeistert und freuen uns auf den nächsten Besuch im Peace Food. Super leckeres Veganes Essen zu absolut faireren Preisen und dann noch sehr freundliches Personal :-) das Ambiente stimmt auch und man geht mit einem guten Gefühl aus dem Restaurant.

Alle Gerichte, die wir bisher probiert haben waren sehr lecker und absolut zu empfehlen. Nach telefonischer Vorbestellung war immer alles pünktlich zur vereinbarten Zeit abholbereit und die Mitarbeiter*innen sehr freundlich. Die Preise sind fair und die Portionen zum sattwerden.

Kinderfreundlich, lecker und dann auch noch überraschend günstig

Wir haben online über wolt Essen bestellt. Und die Lieferung war echt bescheiden. Im allgemeinen ist das Essen grauenhaft. Die Nudeln waren kalt. Die Soßen sind ein schlechter Scherz. Wer liefert 1/4 gefüllte Soßen aus? Für die Gerichte haben sie jedenfalls nicht gereicht. Und dann haben natürlich auch noch zwei Soßen bei der Lieferung gefehlt. Und an den Banh Bao klebten irgendwelchen Papierreste. Die kalten Nudeln als "gebraten" zu bezeichnen, halte ich für absolut unverschämt. Und die Frühlingsrollen sind mit den 2 Schnipseln Lauch pro Rolle fast genauso unverschämt.

Oha...eine Preisanpassung um 40% (!) zum Jahreswechsel in Zeiten einer Mehrwertsteuerreduktion ? Finde ich schon bemerkenswert. So richtig günstig ist also passé...geht man halt seltener. Muss jeder für sich entscheiden, lecker ist es trotzdem.

Even non-vegans can enjoy excellent food here! The menu offers an appealing selection, even for Chinese restaurant lovers (it's actually Vietnamese), very reasonable prices (all main courses currently €10, starters €4-5, and drinks are also reasonably priced), and the quality and quantity of our orders were excellent! The "chicken"-style dishes were impressive, as was one of the soups.

Good food for a very good price

The food is fresh and delicious. Everyone is very friendly. The public transport connections are great.

All the dishes we ordered came with only half the listed ingredients. Despite my companion's explicit request for sweet and sour sauce instead of peanut sauce due to a severe nut allergy, peanut sauce was still placed right in front of him. Unfortunately, we realized very late that there was cat hair in one of the dishes – ironically, in the food of someone who is allergic to pet hair. Up until then, it was quite tasty, after all. For everything (ordering, cutlery, returning the sauce, etc.), we had to approach the staff. We spoke to five different people out of five times, and no one knew what the other person was doing. In the end, they accidentally undercharged us, which I let go, as I had also considered not paying at all because of the pet hair and the incorrect presentation of the dishes. It's a cute little restaurant with a living room atmosphere, but next to our table was an arcade machine that was turned on for the children at another table. As a result, three boys were constantly arguing loudly, while a fourth raced around the place on a pedal car without regard for the consequences. Clearly, this was also a failure of the parents to relent at some point, but the chaos didn't seem to really bother the staff either.

Delicious vegan food for just 10€ for every main dish. Nice alternatives for chicken and duck. Tasty banana shakes and super many options to choose from.

I came here for the first time a few months after my eleventh birthday. I'm 19 now and I still enjoy coming here regularly. The food still tastes as good as it did back then and is still incredibly affordable, and the portions have never gotten smaller or anything. I highly recommend it!

We were visiting Essen and were looking for a restaurant with good vegan options and found PeaceFood. It was a complete success, the prices are great, and the food was absolutely fantastic. The selection of meat substitutes is not only extensive but also downright delicious—the best we've found in a long time. Despite ordering just before closing time, everything was quick and perfect. We picked up our order, but the dining room is very nice and cozy, so even large groups can easily fit. The obligatory aquarium wasn't there, which I was personally very pleased about. All in all, a full recommendation for anyone looking for delicious food and wanting to have a pleasant evening. If we visit Essen again, we will definitely come back. Thank you very much.

A real insider tip for anyone who loves vegan cuisine! The food at Peace Food is truly fantastic – fresh, flavorful, varied, and truly filling. The prices are unbeatably affordable for what you get. Eating vegan food this good and filling is rare! The ambiance is rather dark, which is a matter of taste – but somehow it fits the relaxed atmosphere. The service consists mostly of very young people – friendly and unassuming. Sometimes the service could be a bit more attentive, but that hardly spoils the overall impression. I always enjoy coming here and am happy that places like this exist. Anyone who is vegan or just wants to try it should definitely support this place!

Visually appealing ambiance with very friendly service and delicious food! Definitely worth a visit.

We just happened to be there because we wanted some quick vegan fries with mayo. Unfortunately, they didn't have mayo, but we decided to try the vegan duck and were very impressed, especially with the texture and crispy skin. Everyone was also very nice, and we even got some freebies from the kitchen that would have been left over otherwise. There was soft, relaxing music playing, and even as an autistic person, I can highly recommend the atmosphere. If we're in the area again, we'll stop by again! :)

While we generally love supporting all vegan restaurants, we unfortunately have to note a few negative points here: Cleanliness—both the tables and the restrooms weren't clean. The overall ambiance was a bit dreary. Service was unfriendly/unaccommodating. The food was delicious, but the pasta was overcooked and not cooked as ordered. There's still room for improvement here ⬆️

Wow! The food was amazing, everything fresh, generous portions, served very quickly, and reasonably priced! The selection is also incredibly great! Attentive and very friendly staff. The only thing we have to complain about is that it unfortunately seems a bit dirty, also because of the decor. The sodas should be called iced tea. They're very tasty and refreshing, but without fizz; I was expecting something different. And the soap in the bathroom should definitely be vegan, not like in our case with "milk and honey"! Unfortunately, it's made from animal ingredients, and the company tests on animals, so it's not suitable for vegans! Otherwise, we'll definitely be back; there's still so much to try. Generally, I find Peace Food very good and delicious and I really enjoy going there. The food is entirely vegan, prepared without MSG. There's a small but perfectly adequate selection of appetizers, main courses, and desserts. The decor has been improved, but I would still describe it as rather basic. Placemats are a bit worn and stick to the table. Cutlery, chopsticks, sambal oelek, and soy sauce are provided at the table. If cutlery or chopsticks are missing, you have to point them out. The soy sauce has a small rim; it seems like it's been there for a while. So, they probably need to pay more attention to checking these things at the table and replacing/refilling them if necessary. To reorder something during your meal (drinks or dessert), you have to make yourself known. The server usually doesn't come back to the table. Payment is generally made at the cash register, not at the table. However, this isn't pointed out. These are all minor things in my opinion. We still enjoy going there. But it's worth knowing about them if you're going for the first time.

The restaurant is tucked away on a street corner. The rooms are simple and consist of 2 rooms. The special thing here is the Street Fighter Game machine that you can also use. The food is good. I found the vegan shrimp really tasty. The vegan steak was also good. However, a little too soaked in triyaki sause. However, the service was not good during our visit. The young waiter served us cold peppermint tea and didn't notice. Then our food was brought to the next table. There were a total of 3 tables occupied at the time. We then communicated with our table neighbors because the waiter was somehow overwhelmed. There was no apology or anything like that from the waiter in either incident. In general, the waiter was "emotionally neutral" which looked like indifference to us. Unfortunately the food was lukewarm. The prices in the restaurant are really cheap. The portions are sufficient. However, if you are very hungry, you should order me an appetizer Unfortunately, the entrance to the restaurant is not barrier-free My conclusion: delicious vegan food. However, the service is clearly in need of improvement

A real insider tip in Essen-Kray! We had the pleasure of eating at Peace Food and it was a fantastic experience that we're excited to share. The restaurant is located in a former district pub, and you can still feel the charm and history of the place. Inside, the rustic charm remains, but now excellent Vietnamese cuisine is served here by an incredibly friendly team. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed - everyone is welcome here, whether in sweatpants, with children or in a festive outfit. It's all about being human and feeling good. A place where community and cuisine come together in a wonderful way. The menu offers an impressive selection of Vietnamese dishes. From aromatic soups like the clear vegetable soup to main dishes like the “mango” curry with chickpeas or the fried vegan “shrimp” - there is something for every taste. We would particularly like to highlight the summer rolls and the delicious “Peace Plates”, which are prepared with fresh ingredients. There are also special dishes for children, so the whole family gets their money's worth. Our dishes were excellently prepared, balanced in taste and full of fresh flavors. The prices are absolutely fair (€10-20 per person) and the value for money is unbeatable. We had a lot of fun trying the dishes and felt completely at home. We will definitely be back and can only recommend it to anyone looking for good food in a relaxed atmosphere. Many thanks to the Peace Food team – we are already looking forward to our next visit!

Simply the best Asian around. I don't know how they can offer such great prices, you really can't beat it! The quality is always perfect and the service is polite and very accommodating. Takeaway meals were available. The food was still at a good temperature for a 33 minute journey. Unfortunately it doesn't give 5 stars in terms of taste, due to the included sauce (spicy). But a matter of taste. The service didn't know the dishes/prices, so had to check the menu again. The preparation of the dishes, 3 of them, took less than 20 minutes. At the same time, three people were present in the restaurant who had also ordered food (on site). The location is reminiscent of a former restaurant. Tables and orders were exchanged Decoration was Asian. Very clean.

I had the vegan duck and I have to say, I've had much better. The waiters were dressed in street clothes and gave the impression that they worked at McDonald's. The dessert was really delicious.

Interesting concept with the vegan food, which is based on the classic cuisine with meat (chicken, duck, ...). The taste is very good, the selection is completely sufficient and so are the portions. A clear recommendation! 🍜 We were there for dinner and found everything very tasty. The vegan dishes are really amazing. The wontons and the seitan skewers are particularly delicious. The staff is also very nice and helpful. It wasn't a problem that we took our dog with us. A mini minus point: Unfortunately, the atmosphere is not that inviting. It was very quiet because there was no music and not many people there. Unfortunately, the interior of the restaurant wasn't very comfortable either. A little new design, warm lighting and pleasant music in the background would make it a lot better. That's probably why we would order the food to be picked up in the future.

My first meal in a vegan restaurant (I'm an absolute meat eater), the food was great. Number 29 is the best. Very unusual and absolutely top. Nice service and family environment. Highly recommended even for non-vegans.

The shop is so inconspicuous but the food is some of the best vegan food I have ever eaten. So crispy, so flavorful, the broth so intense. I don't know how they do it but they can. I wish I lived closer.

A really great restaurant. We were there today with the family (everyone except us is meat eaters) and everyone was super happy. Sweet and friendly service, calm music in the background and a great menu. The price is really crazy. You can hardly get a main course this cheap anywhere else. We paid 40 euros for a starter, several drinks, two main courses and a dessert. You can also get really great “substitute meat” here. Lots of tempeh and saitan and the “meats” are really well done. I had duck, but also chicken and the vegan version of beef in sweet and sour sauce were great. A real insider tip for delicious, animal-friendly cuisine.

100% vegan 💚 and simply delicious.

I recently went there for the first time on the recommendation of a friend. I found the menu very clear and all the dishes sounded very tasty. The food itself also tasted very good. However, the whole experience was marred by the service. The waiter seemed absent, no smile, he only said the bare minimum and simply processed the guests and orders. I felt like I should leave so as not to disturb him. For me, service is very important and a friendly and attentive waiter can completely round off an experience. That was totally missing here. Therefore only 3 stars, although the food was really good. In addition, the waiter miscalculated at the end and collected too much money. When we did the math again ourselves and he confirmed his mistake using a calculator, there wasn't even an apology. Since we drove an extra hour, I wouldn't go there again with that service. However, it could have just been a bad day, so I'll probably give it another chance.

We were very positively surprised. We were looking for a vegetarian restaurant and found this vegan restaurant via Google. Although the first impression of the shop was not very good (drink crates in front of the counter, very rustic and cold interior) we were very positively surprised by the quality, freshness and taste of all three dishes. I'm not really a fan of meat substitute products but this tasted really good. We recommend. The curry sauce is a must. It's just a shame that the atmosphere doesn't match the food. But we will still come back.
