My favorite restaurant in all of Berlin! The loving food and the great atmosphere make me come back regularly.

The ambience and food are good. Thumbs up for the cod ceviche, the roti with dahl and the fried chicken. The desserts of that day were nothing memorable (especially the cheesecake). The cocktails were also very good. Online reservations are recommended and, at least on the weekend, necessary. The place is expensive (maybe a bit too much) and credit card payments are possible.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Restaurant Sathuthu is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed by the relaxed and inviting atmosphere. The light, minimalistic decor creates the perfect setting to unwind and truly savor the experience without distractions. The food is simply outstanding—rooted in traditional Sri Lankan gastronomy yet beautifully adapted to modern cuisine. Every dish bursts with vibrant flavors, fresh ingredients, and exquisite presentation. The beverages are equally impressive, complementing the meal perfectly. On top of that, the staff is incredibly sympathetic and welcoming, making us feel at home from start to finish. Their warm hospitality truly enhances the experience. A fantastic dining experience in every way! We will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!

celebrated my birthday here with friends and the atmosphere, food and the service were absolutely amazing. after having visited Sri Lanka many times, i was surprised by such an interesting an innovative take on Sri Lankan cuisine. will definitely come back soon. thank you!

Very intensive cuisine with, unfortunately, a somewhat disappointing wine list and some immature dishes. Like many other restaurants in Berlin, a lot of natural wine is offered here. But the selection is disappointing and you won't find any rare bottles. A majority of the wines are completely lost in the strong aromas of the dishes. Unfortunately, we made the mistake of ordering a Chardonnay that actually only went with dessert. The dishes are partly incredibly good (fish of the day), partly disappointing (oysters) and partly confusing (curry of the day, little taste in the curry, the prawns raw inside?). The service was exceptionally good. We had an exciting evening, but it will probably stay with this visit.

However, while the food is outstanding, the experience feels a little rushed. The quick table clearing and strict two-hour slot create a sense of urgency rather than the warm hospitality one associates with Sri Lankan cuisine. A bit more time and attentiveness would make the experience even more special. For gluten-free diners, Sri Lankan cuisine is naturally quite accommodating, but here, GF options often mean simply removing elements like paratha rather than replacing them with something equally enjoyable. In a fine dining setting, a little more care in ensuring GF guests don’t end up with less would be greatly appreciated. Despite these points, Sathutu is a must-visit for anyone looking for refined Sri Lankan cuisine in Berlin. With just a bit more warmth and balance, it could be truly exceptional.

We had an amazing time at Sathutu, where the vibrant flavors of Sri Lankan cuisine truly came to life. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. We especially loved the fresh seafood—every dish was full of bold, authentic flavors, and the oysters were absolutely outstanding. The cocktails were another highlight, taking classic recipes and adding a unique twist that perfectly complemented the food. It’s rare to find a place that gets both the food and drinks so right, but Sathutu does it effortlessly. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Outstanding in every regard! Refreshingly different food but in aspects of quality, service and atmosphere it ticks all the boxes!!

Basic food presented as fancy in a wanna be fancy context. Definitely overpriced: 7 euros a bottle of water and 28 euro for a vegan plate with mostly sauces and really average small bites (which we also waited for a long time). Waiters were nice but coming every 3 minutes to the table which was a bit too much. Wouldn’t recommend.

Excellent cuisine, great concept of always sharing dishes, courteous service. We had a very nice evening and tried our way through the menu in a pleasantly relaxed atmosphere. We'll be back!

The restaurant is a real insider tip! The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive - you immediately feel at home. The authentic cuisine impresses with fresh ingredients and intense flavors, simply a pleasure! The minimalist, stylish ambience creates a relaxed atmosphere that fits the concept perfectly. Particularly noteworthy: the creative drinks, which impress not only visually but also in terms of taste. In short: great food, great drinks and service that is second to none. Absolute recommendation!

We had a wonderful evening! The food was super tasty, and every dish was fantastic. It was our second time visiting, and we still loved the coconut roti just like the first time. We also tried the batura and seasonal fish dish, and we were really impressed. The wine was great too. It was especially fun coming back after visiting Sri Lanka in October. We had so much delicious food there as well and loved how the dishes and flavours were done at Sathutu!

Went there with two friends. I was sitting comfortably but the other two were sitting in a quite narrow and cold spot. Atmosphere is the typical cheap Berlin hipster style. All very basic. Nothing even giving a hint to a personal touch of the restaurant. We order 7 different dishes, generally the food was really good. But after we finished the smaller dishes and got the main dishes, we encoutered that they used on two of the dishes the same sauce and flavours we already had with the smaller dishes. That was quite disappointing. Also the dishes were missing a personal touch of the chef. There was no storyline behind the dishes. We had a fun night, was overall a good experience but I would not come back.

This restaurant is… meh. Food is okay, but you’d honestly find the same or better at any small authentic Mom & Pop Sri Lankan place. The chicken was pretty good, but then, it was just fried chicken: oily, nothing different or interesting about it. My burrata aubergine dish contained so little burrata that everyone at the table commented on how stingy it felt. The Kiri Hodi had no depth or complexity, but fine, it’s a simple dish after all. All in all, you can see the theme here: basic dishes that in all fairness to their origin SHOULD be humble and affordable. So why then is it so expensive? €25 for like 3 small pieces of chicken?! Possibly the biggest sin however was the lack of storytelling and love for the culture. On the physical menus, minimal care was put into describing the dishes or elucidating the craft behind them. No effort was put into differentiating the space. It was totally forgettable and felt like every other overhyped Berlin restaurant with quasi-industrial design. Honestly think you’re a bit of a sucker to come here more than once —knowing how basic the dishes are and the prices of the ingredients they’re using— when so many nice, authentic and rationally priced places exist. Perhaps the weirdest part of this is the owner stalking people who leave reviews on Instagram and making assumptions about their nationality and background 😬

Probably one of the best restaurants in berlin! After hearing the story of opening the space during covid and explaining the concept, the food itself was outstanding! Definitely reserve a table in advance, the space is small but cozyyyy!

Sathutu was soo delicious! My boyfriend and I went there for his birthday dinner and we agreed it was one our best dining experiences in Berlin. The atmosphere is cozy, laidback but still chic. The food was so amazing, many new and rich flavors. The service was great. We went for the ‘Thursday Feast’ where you get a little bit of everything off the menu. Would absolutely recommend for vegetarian fine dining!

Honest 3 stars. When you want to play with the big boys in casual fine dining it’s simply not enough. Especially for this price. Room was cold, no coziness and we went though 4 of our 7 courses in roughly 20min, and only slowed down because I asked for it… the food itself, especially the ceviche and the tuna Tatar were magnificent. The rest was solid… bit please please work on the vibes in the restaurant…

We went here spontaneously and got a table after calling ahead. The restaurant has only a few tables and is furnished in a modern and minimalist style. The service was very friendly, committed and competent. The small menu didn't make choosing difficult. The food was super tasty, the oysters we had were very fresh and well prepared. The prices, especially for drinks, are steep in the context of the restaurant, hence only 4 stars.

The food was inharmonious between the ingredients, value for money is poor I have to say. The ambience wasn't pleasant either because the tables were set up very tightly and even with the 2 hour stay... it was overpriced. But the staff was very nice. The restaurant is overrated. P.S. Food was too greasy and heavy. The service seemed fine at first, but as more guests arrived, it was clear that they have exactly the same speech for everyone. They were polite but it felt very scripted and impersonal, using same phrases and approach with every table

I had an amazing experience. I tried one of the best ceviches I've ever had in my life, and it’s not the usual kind! If you go, make sure to order it! All the dishes are outstanding, with ingredients that are perfectly balanced on each plate. In addition, the staff is super nice and that's always is a super plus.

This place is truly exceptional. It has to be without a doubt one of the best places to eat in berlin. It’s a modern twist on Sri Lankan food. It’s very understated but very very special. I love the mood and the ambience of the restaurant. It feels like you’re in a place you would only know if you know the city very well.

The cuisine was truly out of the ordinary—creative, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The ceviche with red jalapeño curry and the batura bread with burrata & sweet eggplant moju were standout dishes. The staff was incredibly friendly, making me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. A special shoutout to the manager, Liva (if I’m correct), who was professional, attentive, and ensured everything was perfect. Hats off to her for managing such a great place! Overall, an excellent experience that I highly recommend to anyone visiting Berlin.

Really great dishes that I had never eaten before. You have to make sure that everything is a little spicy, even if it isn't explicitly mentioned on the menu. Clear recommendation for the drinks and the chicken, which was so delicious that I forgot to take a photo of it. The service was super nice. We'll definitely be back.

I had such a great evening at Sathutu! It was my first time dining here after hearing so many great things. The food and service were top-notch. I got a great introduction to the dishes, and they were beautifully presented! The coconut roti and cheesecake are stuck in my mind - very delicious! I have some dietary restrictions, and they were so well considered by the nice staff. The terrace was the perfect spot for a lovely summer evening. I will definitely be back soon and am already looking forward to it!!

Very tasty food, but still not a nice evening. It was a good idea to share food, which we also liked to do with the starters. However, we had discussed with the service during the consultation that we are a vegan and a meat eater and that we would therefore each order a main course for ourselves. But they came half an hour apart, that shouldn't happen. My wife was only allowed to watch me eat afterwards. When we complained to service, the almost mushy answer was that we could share the sweet potato chips that came with it. Only later did a lukewarm apology come. Unfortunately, the service completely lacks sensitivity to the situation, which is unfortunately unforgivable at this (price) level. Almost a minor aspect: the only red wine open was a semi-dry one! How do you come up with such an idea? I left it undrunk. Of course I was a bit naive not to have tried it before, but I thought it would be something good for the price.

cute little restaurant in hipster central. the way sri lankan cuisine is fused with a variety of modern influences is amazing. best to go with a medium sized group, so you can eat yourself through the entire menu. staff is very attentive and will always have a recommendation based on your preference. definitely recommended…

Cancelled my reservation on one hour’s notice with no explanation.

Worst restaurant, very bad vibe. Adding: I don't think it's up to you to rate me, we don't know each other personally. I had a very bad experience in this restaurant and never received a response to my email request for clarification. Therefore one can only speak of a disappointment.

Food okay; service not well-trained plus it’s too few people for too many seats; wine corked what resulted in a little turmoil with management (who had poor expertise in whine); this is not pleasant for anyone so ambiente was uncomfortable/ ruined ultimately; I wouldn’t recommend going there as prices do not reflect the experience.

Durch einen Tagesspiegelartikel war ich neugierig geworden, wollte einmal das angepriesene und für mich ungewöhnliche SriLanka Essen genießen. Ich war bisher von französischer und italienischer Küche verwöhnt, meist in Charlottenburg oder oft auch im Umland. Kulinarisch fanden wir das Essen, ein knusprig gebackenes Huhn mit tollen Saucenbeilagen und ein leicht zu festes Auberginengericht jeweils besonders, ein exotischer Gaumenschmaus, das Preisniveau dafür gerechtfertigt und angemessen. Demgegenüber empfanden wir allerdings die in der präsenstierten Schlussrechnung 2 Gläser je 0,2 Chablis Hauswein im Ausschank für zusammen 48 (!) Euro als ausgeprochen überteuert. Da wir in Anbetracht der großen Hitze ohnehin nur 2 x 0,1 bestellt hatten und auf der Rechnung dann, korrekt, 4 x 0,1 aufgeführt war, und wir moniert hatten, dass uns auch keine Weinkarte vorgelegt worden war, der lapidare Kommentar der Kellnerin auf unsere Anmerkung hierauf: das sei nunmal so!? Ein Wermutstropfen, weitgehend wettgemacht allerdings durch die sehr angenehme Athmosphäre auf der Bürgersteigterasse! 7. 9. 24 Dr. Peter Nowak und Begleitung

Very good food and nice waiters! My cousin recommended this great restaurant to me and can confirm that it is really very good.

9/10 I especially remember the oyster and fish. The price of the food is always a point of criticism in the reviews. And it's true that the prices are high, but with the exception of the daal, they're not unjustified. I think that the factor for the wine is significantly too high at up to 4.

Unfortunately, I was hoping for a nice dinner with new flavors and a refined menu, but it fell short. We paid 220€ for three people, and I wouldn't recommend it. The food was simply average: it started off strong with an interesting appetizer, but went downhill quickly. The only dishes that stood out were the olives and jackfruit; everything else was underwhelming. The labneh tomato dish was tasteless and had nothing to do with Sri Lanka, the papadam felt like a scam, the coconut roti was dry, and the batura was so simple it felt like fried dough with yogurt—priced at 25€, you'd expect a lot more from this dish. Although the service was friendly, it was chaotic. They took our bottle away before we finished it, and we had to wait 30 minutes between courses. There was no explanation about the dishes, what they were, or what made them special. I truly regret taking my friends to this restaurant and wish I had chosen another one.

Food was great! We ordered almost the whole menu and the only ‘average’ meal was the chicken (wasn’t really crispy) - still nice tho. The rest was well balanced, everything made sense and I liked the plating as well. Service could and in my opinion should have been better and attentive. We are still talking about a 100€ per person restaurant in Berlin. First we waited for 20 minutes to get our table ready, even though we came at the time when we reserved. It started raining and they didn’t have an umbrella to cover us, inside it was too hot to enjoy so there was no alternative. Didn’t get to try the first bottle of wine, we just got it poured in 4 glasses. The second one we did. Both were good tho. Cocktails were the biggest dissapointment. They sat on the counter for a good 30 minutes, if not more, while we waited for out dessert (which we didn’t have a problem with). And of course they got super watery. They received the feedback well but could handle the situation much better - we got 1 cocktail out of the bill, even though we almost didn’t touch 3 out of 4, basically only tried them. For me personally it would have been better to not get anything out of the bill rather than only 1 out of 4 - even though all of them tasted like pure alcohol mixed with water. A good old 4 espressos on the house would have done the trick :)

Nice interior, wouldn’t recommend sitting in the basement area. Service is very nice. The food is flavorful but nothing there to clean the palate like a piece of naan or rice. Prices are on the fine dining level, without living up to the expectations: overpriced. The Raffinesse is missing.

Very friendly service, clean look in the restaurant. The food was tasty, but not exceptionally good. Above all, the prices for the main courses are in relation to what is actually on offer.

We ate here in a group of 5 and once ordered the entire menu. The service was very attentive, friendly and patient, including with our wine order. Every dish was excellent and appropriate for the price. The only point of criticism is the lighting situation outside; It would be nice if you could see what you are eating better.

The fried jackfruit was disappointing, as it was quite dry and tasted more like a bland curry with too much oil and chives. The chicken was also over-fried and rather dry. On a positive note, the fish was pretty solid and well-cooked. The service, however, was really nice and attentive, which made the experience better overall.

Great service. Really delicious and inventive food. Beautiful spiced. A small menu but managed to accommodate my slightly complicated dietary needs. I’ll definitely be back.

Service: top Drinks: Top notch. their creation was very unique. Drinks are quite strong,Fyi. I love it. Food: oysters were great quality. Like their style. Carpaccio was great as well. Dynamic mix of taste with fresh and sauer plus refreshing taste. The pancake looking like dish was just ok. Maybe the reason was the weather got colder in the night so the bread got hard? It turned me down bit but dessert made me happy again. That fish with curry sauce was great as well. It was finger licking good. Heard cheesecake is “must try” dish. It was sold out, i didn’t have a chance to try it. Grab a chance when you see it.

This place delivers in every aspect. Amazing food, drinks, atmosphere and staff. We tried almost everything on the menu and were blown away by how much thought went into every dish and the flavor it had. On top the owner was the sweetest and kindest soul that makes you want to go back right away.

This restaurant has been on my list for a while now and it totally lived up to its reputation. Pricey, yes, but (1) I knew that going in, and (2) it was totally worth it! Service- All three servers were so polite and attentive. Food came super quickly too! Food - truly unique flavors. We had the bhel puri, the paneer, the seasonal fish and the fried chicken. A tinge spicy but not in a bad way at all. I could still taste the nuanced flavor profile of different things. Very nicely balanced. Portion sizes - after reading some of the reviews I was expecting them to be on the smaller side, but I found them to be reasonable. Overall, very happy I visited and will certainly come back in a few months!

The small restaurant offers a selection of exquisite Sri Lanka tapas in a small room with about 8 tables that are very close together, which makes the atmosphere a bit uncomfortable. Nevertheless, the dishes are beautifully presented and the service is excellent. However, the prices are high, for example a 0.1 liter wine costs 9 euros. Although the food is delicious, keep in mind that for the price you may not feel completely full. The portions are really very small and no bread is served with it. We went to the restaurant because of the very good reviews, but we find it clearly overrated. And as we all know, you can't eat good service. A recommended option for special occasions, but not suitable for regular visits due to the cramped atmosphere and prices. The tuna crudo can be seen in the photos. However, these are small dinner plates; the portions always look very large in the pictures. It is not so. When it came to the lamb, we were disappointed that they were just mini meatballs and not real lamb.

Was recommended this restaurant and I would highly recommend it to others. Food was exquisite. Everything we ate was delicious including the orange wine. Smoothest cheesecake ever! All the servers were also lovely.

One of the best places in Berlin. Visited a few times and never disappointed. Always tasty, good service and most important it is clean!👌🏻 good job will keep visiting you!

The dishes served were exceptionally good and worth the money. One complaint would be that we were missing a little more side dish for the "large" plates, whose portions were very generous. If it is the case that, according to the tapas principle, the "small" plates are to be eaten together with the "large" ones, then all 4 plates, along with glasses and charger plates, should also fit on the table. But most of the tables are too cramped for that, just like in the restaurant. We were a bit of a random "walk-in" around 6:30 p.m. From 7.45 p.m. the place was full and people were waiting for the seats that had been ordered. And then, having just finished eating, we received half a coconut with the bill on the table without being asked, asking us to pay and leave as soon as possible. Okay, so apparently the morals are now so rough, which led to a certain amount of pushing and shoving at the side of the counter during the payment process (cards only). We didn't find it nice when we noticed later that the "Bhel puri" was listed with a 16 on the menu, but with an 18 on the bill.

Sri Lankan fine dining. Recommended to share two large dishes and two small dishes between two guests. Every dish was full of flavour and tasty.

Food was exciting, close to traditional flavor patterns. Oysters were surprisingly good and the tuna with hazelnut a must try. The dessert surprised us positively and the attentive and kind service is definitely a unique selling point in Berlin! Go and see for yourself :)

I have rarely eaten so well. All the dishes we had tasted really were an experience and were super harmonious. Given this, I also think the prices are okay.

We had such a special dinner here. The food was exquisite, the staff kind and attentive, the ingredients high quality. Not only did we eat very well, I also felt that we learnt something - flavours used in different ways, beautiful presentation - and all-round enriching experience.

Love at first bite. Sathutu has immediately become my second favorite restaurant in Berlin. So delicious. So iconic! Every dish is beautifully reinterpreted and is delightful. Vibe is great. Servers were friendly. Totally recommendable. 베를린에는 참 이런 이색적인 레스토랑이 많죠. 첫 방문 이후, 그 즉시 제가 베를린에서 좋아하는 두 번째 레스토랑이 되었습니다. 모든 디쉬가 재해석되어 나오는데 정. 말. 맛있습니다. 다시 너무 가고 싶어요.

My girlfriend didn’t feel well and so I wanted to cancel the reservation 5 hours in advance. The manager was denying it because of their internal policy. In the end we went anyway and had a wonderful evening. The food is great and the service wonderful. Also we reached an agreement about the cancellation discussion very quick and could focus on the positive vibe in the restaurant. Great to share tapas but be ready for a bit of 🌶️ Will definitely come again!

Schickes sri-lankisches Tapas Restaurant mit saisonal wechselnden Gerichten, gemütlichem Ambiente und freundlichem Service. Das Menü und Essenskonzept funktionieren hier wie in einem Tapas oder Mezze Restaurant, alle Gerichte sind nach Empfehlung zum Teilen geeignet und das Erlebnis ist hier umso schöner, wenn man mehrere Gerichte probieren kann. Pro Person wurden ein kleiner und großer Teller empfohlen. Die Gerichte, vor allem gekochte Speisen, sind sehr gemacksvoll, leicht sauer und sehr pikant. Expensive Fancy Sri Lankan food, excellent. Coconut roti, fish, very good. Colombo chicken is fried deboned chicken, excellent. Not spicy. Good natural wine and cocktails

One of the most delicious meals I have ever had. All the people at our table thought everything was on point. Service was a bit slow… it could improve. Overall, it was amazing.

We had a bunch of different dishes and they were all amazing!! Cocktails were great too, so definitely a 5/5.

We had a wonderful dinner at Sathutu. Our waitress was super kind, attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu, which we appreciated a lot. The food was very tasty and had some nice experimental elements.

I absolutely loved everything about it. Was there last year and have been thinking about going back since then (unfortunately I do not live in Berlin) but definitely on my to do list on the next time being back
