Another fabulous meal. Love the flavors, love the service. Black daal is a must.

This place is truly exceptional. It has to be without a doubt one of the best places to eat in berlin. It’s a modern twist on Sri Lankan food. It’s very understated but very very special. I love the mood and the ambience of the restaurant. It feels like you’re in a place you would only know if you know the city very well.

Very good cuisine that is strongly influenced by Sri Lanka. Great spices, light and good.

I had a great experience last week! Really good food,very attentive and Friendly staff on the service 👌 oysters and ceviche were perfect to start with and the seared fish it was perfect with its sauce! A must definetely. I'd come back anytime to try the rest

Great atmosphere and amazing food. We sat outside and ordered several things to share as a group and everything was super fresh and tasty. 10/10 to satisfy your taste buds, smells and visual experience. Cocktails were also very good. We will sure come back.

The cuisine was truly out of the ordinary—creative, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The ceviche with red jalapeño curry and the batura bread with burrata & sweet eggplant moju were standout dishes. The staff was incredibly friendly, making me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. A special shoutout to the manager, Liva (if I’m correct), who was professional, attentive, and ensured everything was perfect. Hats off to her for managing such a great place! Overall, an excellent experience that I highly recommend to anyone visiting Berlin.

Just had a phenomenal evening at Sathutu with friends, and I can’t recommend it enough! The food was a burst of flavors, with so many unique and delicious dishes to try. The atmosphere was cozy, making it the perfect spot for a fun night out. From the service to the food and vibe, everything was 5 stars. If you’re in Berlin and want to experience something special, Sathutu is a must!

Really great dishes that I had never eaten before. You have to make sure that everything is a little spicy, even if it isn't explicitly mentioned on the menu. Clear recommendation for the drinks and the chicken, which was so delicious that I forgot to take a photo of it. The service was super nice. We'll definitely be back.

I had such a great evening at Sathutu! It was my first time dining here after hearing so many great things. The food and service were top-notch. I got a great introduction to the dishes, and they were beautifully presented! The coconut roti and cheesecake are stuck in my mind - very delicious! I have some dietary restrictions, and they were so well considered by the nice staff. The terrace was the perfect spot for a lovely summer evening. I will definitely be back soon and am already looking forward to it!!

Very tasty food, but still not a nice evening. It was a good idea to share food, which we also liked to do with the starters. However, we had discussed with the service during the consultation that we are a vegan and a meat eater and that we would therefore each order a main course for ourselves. But they came half an hour apart, that shouldn't happen. My wife was only allowed to watch me eat afterwards. When we complained to service, the almost mushy answer was that we could share the sweet potato chips that came with it. Only later did a lukewarm apology come. Unfortunately, the service completely lacks sensitivity to the situation, which is unfortunately unforgivable at this (price) level. Almost a minor aspect: the only red wine open was a semi-dry one! How do you come up with such an idea? I left it undrunk. Of course I was a bit naive not to have tried it before, but I thought it would be something good for the price.

cute little restaurant in hipster central. the way sri lankan cuisine is fused with a variety of modern influences is amazing. best to go with a medium sized group, so you can eat yourself through the entire menu. staff is very attentive and will always have a recommendation based on your preference. definitely recommended…

Cancelled my reservation on one hour’s notice with no explanation.

Worst restaurant, very bad vibe. Adding: I don't think it's up to you to rate me, we don't know each other personally. I had a very bad experience in this restaurant and never received a response to my email request for clarification. Therefore one can only speak of a disappointment.

Food okay; service not well-trained plus it’s too few people for too many seats; wine corked what resulted in a little turmoil with management (who had poor expertise in whine); this is not pleasant for anyone so ambiente was uncomfortable/ ruined ultimately; I wouldn’t recommend going there as prices do not reflect the experience.

Food was ok, portions were very small for a “sharing” concept (1 “sharing” dish is for 1 person, not for more), and the prices are way overpriced for the portion and “specialties”

Durch einen Tagesspiegelartikel war ich neugierig geworden, wollte einmal das angepriesene und für mich ungewöhnliche SriLanka Essen genießen. Ich war bisher von französischer und italienischer Küche verwöhnt, meist in Charlottenburg oder oft auch im Umland. Kulinarisch fanden wir das Essen, ein knusprig gebackenes Huhn mit tollen Saucenbeilagen und ein leicht zu festes Auberginengericht jeweils besonders, ein exotischer Gaumenschmaus, das Preisniveau dafür gerechtfertigt und angemessen. Demgegenüber empfanden wir allerdings die in der präsenstierten Schlussrechnung 2 Gläser je 0,2 Chablis Hauswein im Ausschank für zusammen 48 (!) Euro als ausgeprochen überteuert. Da wir in Anbetracht der großen Hitze ohnehin nur 2 x 0,1 bestellt hatten und auf der Rechnung dann, korrekt, 4 x 0,1 aufgeführt war, und wir moniert hatten, dass uns auch keine Weinkarte vorgelegt worden war, der lapidare Kommentar der Kellnerin auf unsere Anmerkung hierauf: das sei nunmal so!? Ein Wermutstropfen, weitgehend wettgemacht allerdings durch die sehr angenehme Athmosphäre auf der Bürgersteigterasse! 7. 9. 24 Dr. Peter Nowak und Begleitung

Very good food and nice waiters! My cousin recommended this great restaurant to me and can confirm that it is really very good.

9/10 I especially remember the oyster and fish. The price of the food is always a point of criticism in the reviews. And it's true that the prices are high, but with the exception of the daal, they're not unjustified. I think that the factor for the wine is significantly too high at up to 4.

Unfortunately, I was hoping for a nice dinner with new flavors and a refined menu, but it fell short. We paid 220€ for three people, and I wouldn't recommend it. The food was simply average: it started off strong with an interesting appetizer, but went downhill quickly. The only dishes that stood out were the olives and jackfruit; everything else was underwhelming. The labneh tomato dish was tasteless and had nothing to do with Sri Lanka, the papadam felt like a scam, the coconut roti was dry, and the batura was so simple it felt like fried dough with yogurt—priced at 25€, you'd expect a lot more from this dish. Although the service was friendly, it was chaotic. They took our bottle away before we finished it, and we had to wait 30 minutes between courses. There was no explanation about the dishes, what they were, or what made them special. I truly regret taking my friends to this restaurant and wish I had chosen another one.

Food was great! We ordered almost the whole menu and the only ‘average’ meal was the chicken (wasn’t really crispy) - still nice tho. The rest was well balanced, everything made sense and I liked the plating as well. Service could and in my opinion should have been better and attentive. We are still talking about a 100€ per person restaurant in Berlin. First we waited for 20 minutes to get our table ready, even though we came at the time when we reserved. It started raining and they didn’t have an umbrella to cover us, inside it was too hot to enjoy so there was no alternative. Didn’t get to try the first bottle of wine, we just got it poured in 4 glasses. The second one we did. Both were good tho. Cocktails were the biggest dissapointment. They sat on the counter for a good 30 minutes, if not more, while we waited for out dessert (which we didn’t have a problem with). And of course they got super watery. They received the feedback well but could handle the situation much better - we got 1 cocktail out of the bill, even though we almost didn’t touch 3 out of 4, basically only tried them. For me personally it would have been better to not get anything out of the bill rather than only 1 out of 4 - even though all of them tasted like pure alcohol mixed with water. A good old 4 espressos on the house would have done the trick :)

Nice interior, wouldn’t recommend sitting in the basement area. Service is very nice. The food is flavorful but nothing there to clean the palate like a piece of naan or rice. Prices are on the fine dining level, without living up to the expectations: overpriced. The Raffinesse is missing.

Very friendly service, clean look in the restaurant. The food was tasty, but not exceptionally good. Above all, the prices for the main courses are in relation to what is actually on offer.

We ate here in a group of 5 and once ordered the entire menu. The service was very attentive, friendly and patient, including with our wine order. Every dish was excellent and appropriate for the price. The only point of criticism is the lighting situation outside; It would be nice if you could see what you are eating better.

The fried jackfruit was disappointing, as it was quite dry and tasted more like a bland curry with too much oil and chives. The chicken was also over-fried and rather dry. On a positive note, the fish was pretty solid and well-cooked. The service, however, was really nice and attentive, which made the experience better overall.

Great service. Really delicious and inventive food. Beautiful spiced. A small menu but managed to accommodate my slightly complicated dietary needs. I’ll definitely be back.

Service: top Drinks: Top notch. their creation was very unique. Drinks are quite strong,Fyi. I love it. Food: oysters were great quality. Like their style. Carpaccio was great as well. Dynamic mix of taste with fresh and sauer plus refreshing taste. The pancake looking like dish was just ok. Maybe the reason was the weather got colder in the night so the bread got hard? It turned me down bit but dessert made me happy again. That fish with curry sauce was great as well. It was finger licking good. Heard cheesecake is “must try” dish. It was sold out, i didn’t have a chance to try it. Grab a chance when you see it.

My favorite place in Berlin. Stylish, surprising, extraordinary, a little high-end. Make sure to try their cheesecake!!

This restaurant has been on my list for a while now and it totally lived up to its reputation. Pricey, yes, but (1) I knew that going in, and (2) it was totally worth it! Service- All three servers were so polite and attentive. Food came super quickly too! Food - truly unique flavors. We had the bhel puri, the paneer, the seasonal fish and the fried chicken. A tinge spicy but not in a bad way at all. I could still taste the nuanced flavor profile of different things. Very nicely balanced. Portion sizes - after reading some of the reviews I was expecting them to be on the smaller side, but I found them to be reasonable. Overall, very happy I visited and will certainly come back in a few months!

This place delivers in every aspect. Amazing food, drinks, atmosphere and staff. We tried almost everything on the menu and were blown away by how much thought went into every dish and the flavor it had. On top the owner was the sweetest and kindest soul that makes you want to go back right away.

The small restaurant offers a selection of exquisite Sri Lanka tapas in a small room with about 8 tables that are very close together, which makes the atmosphere a bit uncomfortable. Nevertheless, the dishes are beautifully presented and the service is excellent. However, the prices are high, for example a 0.1 liter wine costs 9 euros. Although the food is delicious, keep in mind that for the price you may not feel completely full. The portions are really very small and no bread is served with it. We went to the restaurant because of the very good reviews, but we find it clearly overrated. And as we all know, you can't eat good service. A recommended option for special occasions, but not suitable for regular visits due to the cramped atmosphere and prices. The tuna crudo can be seen in the photos. However, these are small dinner plates; the portions always look very large in the pictures. It is not so. When it came to the lamb, we were disappointed that they were just mini meatballs and not real lamb.

Was recommended this restaurant and I would highly recommend it to others. Food was exquisite. Everything we ate was delicious including the orange wine. Smoothest cheesecake ever! All the servers were also lovely.

The dishes served were exceptionally good and worth the money. One complaint would be that we were missing a little more side dish for the "large" plates, whose portions were very generous. If it is the case that, according to the tapas principle, the "small" plates are to be eaten together with the "large" ones, then all 4 plates, along with glasses and charger plates, should also fit on the table. But most of the tables are too cramped for that, just like in the restaurant. We were a bit of a random "walk-in" around 6:30 p.m. From 7.45 p.m. the place was full and people were waiting for the seats that had been ordered. And then, having just finished eating, we received half a coconut with the bill on the table without being asked, asking us to pay and leave as soon as possible. Okay, so apparently the morals are now so rough, which led to a certain amount of pushing and shoving at the side of the counter during the payment process (cards only). We didn't find it nice when we noticed later that the "Bhel puri" was listed with a 16 on the menu, but with an 18 on the bill.

Sri Lankan fine dining. Recommended to share two large dishes and two small dishes between two guests. Every dish was full of flavour and tasty.

Food was exciting, close to traditional flavor patterns. Oysters were surprisingly good and the tuna with hazelnut a must try. The dessert surprised us positively and the attentive and kind service is definitely a unique selling point in Berlin! Go and see for yourself :)

I have rarely eaten so well. All the dishes we had tasted really were an experience and were super harmonious. Given this, I also think the prices are okay.

Love at first bite. Sathutu has immediately become my second favorite restaurant in Berlin. So delicious. So iconic! Every dish is beautifully reinterpreted and is delightful. Vibe is great. Servers were friendly. Totally recommendable. 베를린에는 참 이런 이색적인 레스토랑이 많죠. 첫 방문 이후, 그 즉시 제가 베를린에서 좋아하는 두 번째 레스토랑이 되었습니다. 모든 디쉬가 재해석되어 나오는데 정. 말. 맛있습니다. 다시 너무 가고 싶어요.

My girlfriend didn’t feel well and so I wanted to cancel the reservation 5 hours in advance. The manager was denying it because of their internal policy. In the end we went anyway and had a wonderful evening. The food is great and the service wonderful. Also we reached an agreement about the cancellation discussion very quick and could focus on the positive vibe in the restaurant. Great to share tapas but be ready for a bit of 🌶️ Will definitely come again!

Schickes sri-lankisches Tapas Restaurant mit saisonal wechselnden Gerichten, gemütlichem Ambiente und freundlichem Service. Das Menü und Essenskonzept funktionieren hier wie in einem Tapas oder Mezze Restaurant, alle Gerichte sind nach Empfehlung zum Teilen geeignet und das Erlebnis ist hier umso schöner, wenn man mehrere Gerichte probieren kann. Pro Person wurden ein kleiner und großer Teller empfohlen. Die Gerichte, vor allem gekochte Speisen, sind sehr gemacksvoll, leicht sauer und sehr pikant. Wir empfehlen das Batura sehr, ebenso die Fischgerichte wie die Tunfisch Kroketten sowie den Aalfisch. Die Cocktails neutralisieren die Palette durch ihren fruchtig, süßen Geschmack.

We had a wonderful dinner at Sathutu. Our waitress was super kind, attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu, which we appreciated a lot. The food was very tasty and had some nice experimental elements.

We had a bunch of different dishes and they were all amazing!! Cocktails were great too, so definitely a 5/5.

Sathuthu is fine dining in Sri Lankan. Not only did the dishes and flavours transport us back to the beautiful island nation, it was also an experience of postmodern urban cuisine in just such an atmosphere. Paired with excellent cocktails and natural wine, we had one of the best culinary experiences in Berlin.

I absolutely loved everything about it. Was there last year and have been thinking about going back since then (unfortunately I do not live in Berlin) but definitely on my to do list on the next time being back

Spannende Kombinationen beim Essen - überraschend und wirklich gut!

I found the service delightful and the food to be remarkably unexpected at every turn. While there were some dishes I liked more than others, the desserts were what really delivered for me. Every one was completely different than I imagined and had a novel twist.

Essen Ok, aber es ist eine Frechheit, 1) meine Kreditkarte fälschlicherweise mit 60 € No-Show Gebühr zu belasten, obwohl wir (über)-pünktlich erschienen sind, und 2) dann auf E-Mails und telefonische Anfragen, das Geld bitte zurück zu überweisen, nicht zu reagieren und somit effektiv 60 € zu stehlen. Allgemeiner Tipp an alle: lasst falsche Kreditkartenbelastungen sofort über die Bank rückgängig machen und vertraut nicht auf die Professionalität und Gutmütigkeit von Restaurants etc. -- Update 22.8: Der Besuch war bereits im letzten Jahr (die No-Show Gebühr war dann noch 30€ ). Ich habe Ihnen am 31.7. eine Mail hierzu geschrieben (mit dem Mail-Verlauf aus dem Vorjahr), auf welche ich bisher keine Antwort erhalten habe.

We passed by as we were walking through the neighbourhood and despite not having a reservation and being fully booked, the gracious staff members went out of their way to assemble their make-shift outdoor bar table for us, which was perfect for our spontaneous drop-in and was a very lovely experience overall. If you're looking to have a more formal dining, I would definitely advise you to make a reservation in advance. We ordered drinks to start off. The manager, Silke, took care of our table for the night and our drinks came out quickly despite it being busy. The drinks menu was great, I started with the Passionfruit Martini and my friend got the Floral Sour mock-tail, we followed that up with the Coconut Paloma and yet another Floral Sour (the best mock-tail my friend has ever had, in his words). Do not come here without ordering the Bhatura. It is quite literally the best dish I've ever eaten. Perfectly balanced in flavour and texture, it's something you can't miss. It looked so good that I forgot to take a photo and by the time I remembered it was already gone. Sathutu is, by far, one of the best dining experiences you can have in Berlin. Everything is so beautifully curated; from the recipes to the plating, the atmosphere to their knowledgable and detail-oriented service team. This place deserves all of the success that comes its way, and it's only gotten better each time I've been back.

A must visit in Berlin, this was my first time trying Sri Lankan food and I was so impressed by the whole experience! The staff were super friendly, the dishes not only beautiful but delicious and a perfect balance of flavours, colours and textures that I hadn't seen before. The coconut roti with black dhal, dosas, Batura and Colombo chicken were my favourites but everything was really good (oh the cheese cake too...!) The restaurant also has an amazing interior design concept too so it's difficult to choose whether you want to sit inside or out on the terrace...overall such a great place and we will surely be back.

One of the top places in Berlin

Worst time- do not go here. Food is pretentious, not filling, boring and bland. Starters are €20. Wine is surprisingly average. Staff are all over the place and it’s a super stressful experience. Terrace closes at 10pm and you have to move inside, even though restaurants nearby stay open. Owner was rude and unwelcoming, even by Berlin standards. Worst restaurant I’ve been to in years.

Simple, beautiful design with attention to detail. The food and presentation of it was wonderful and everyone from the service was welcoming, friendly and attentive. The pricing with for example five euros for a side of sauce is a bit high but the food was delicious and i would definitely come back.

A must visit place in Berlin! Amazingly friendly people and prompt services! All the dishes are full of flavours. They have the best cheesecake I've ever tasted.

sehr gut und besonders, allerdings hoher Preis

One of my best dinners I have had in recent times, traditional Sri Lankan gets blended with cuisines as distant as Italian seamlessly ( No mean feat).The balance of flavor, combined with excellent produce is the winning combination, add this to the friendly excellent service and you have a fantastic evening where the food is bound to lead your conversation.

Food was great, desserts not too great, had the cheesecake and it was too watery not a good texture, otherwise service was great and atmosphere was chill

Weltklasse Essen und super Service! Macht richtig Spaß.

Insgesamt eine schöne Atmosphäre und geschmackvolle Einrichtung. Insgesamt raffinierte Speisen zu einem gehobenen Preisniveau. Wer es nicht scharf mag, sollte etwas aufpassen. Die Bedienung war auf Trapp und hat eine angenehme, jedoch nicht unangemessene Lockerheit ausgestrahlt. Wesentlicher Kritikpunkt und gleichzeitig rechtlich verbindlicher Verbesserungsvorschlag: Es gibt in Deutschland und anderen europäischen Ländern eine Verordnung für Schankgläser, die einzuhalten ist, damit ich als Kunde weiß, wieviel Getränk ich zu welchem Preis erhalte. Das ist auch eine Frage von Fairness, denn als Kunde will ich erhalten was ich bezahle (wie der Gastwirt ja auch bezahlt haben möchte, was ausgeschenkt wurde). Deshalb sollte (muss) folgendes berücksichtigt werden: 1. Angabe der Ausschankmengen/ Füllmengen in der Karte (Ende Apr. 2023 nicht der Fall), z.B. Glas Wein 0,1l 2. zwingende Nutzung von Gläsern mit Füllstrich (ebenfalls Apr. 23 nicht der Fall). Als Kunde kann ich nicht anders prüfen, ob ich die Menge erhalten habe, die ich bestelle. Einzig bei ganzen Flaschen dürfen Gläser ohne Strich ausgegeben werden. Neben der rechtlichen Pflicht bleibt (ob begründet oder nicht) so immer ein fader Beigeschmack, den ich beim entspannten Essengehen nicht brauche. Ich freue mich, wenn ich beim nächsten Besuch die rechtlichen Erfordernisse umgesetzt sehe. Weiterhin viel Erfolg.

Wo soll ich anfangen? Hier wissen wirklich alle, was sie tun! Speisen und Getränke ganz und gar köstlich, eine Geschmacksexplosion mit Stil! Der Service ist unvergleichlich; warmherzig, trendy und witzig wird man großartig beraten! Wow, danke Karlo! Wir kommen wieder!

If i could I would give 10 stars. Everything from food to service was incredibly good. Every single dish had an explosion of flavors with the perfect balance. Highlights: gambas and the dish with paneer cheese🥹 I read so many bad reviews in regards to the service, lol, people I am not sure if you have ever had poor service in your life.

The food is a journey and I enjoy every part of it.

Ich war auf Empfehlung im Sathutu zu meinem Geburtstag und kann es sehr empfehlen. Wir hatten einen kulinarisch großartigen Abend. Wir lieben das Sharingkonzept mit großen und kleinen Tellern, daher würde ich hier auch immer den Besuch mit einer Gruppe empfehlen. So kommt man in den Genuss von mehreren Gerichten. Tolle Aromen und Kompositionen. Und nun gibt es ja auch nicht an jeder Ecke einen Srilankesen. Der Gastgeber Karlo hat uns zudem toll begleitet, gute Empfehlungen ausgesprochen und der Abend war rundum gelungen. Die Stimmung war etwas lautet und ausgelassen, das Design wiederum hell gehalten und minimalistisch.
