Sorrel in Berlin

Great food. When we were ready to order, they told us they didn’t have more bread, so we couldn’t order bread for the food. This was quite disappointing since the bread was essential for a lot of the dishes. However, the food was amazing and the waitress too. The acoustics in the room is quite bad so don’t expect a cosy, chill, romantic vibe, more cool and vibrant. Since they didn’t have bread and the atmosphere was a bit too loud for our taste, only 4 stars from here.

Fantastic all aspects but note it is a very short menu 6/7 dishes all delicious though 👍😃

A chill place with excellent food and service.

We went here for my birthday breakfast on a sunny day. The atmosphere was lovely, with a beautiful interior and a nice outdoor seating area. However, the menu was disappointing—limited options and no flexibility to customize breakfast plates. I usually have eggs and veggies in the morning, but here, it was either heavy egg dishes with bread or a lighter option like salad or roasted pumpkin—no way to combine them. The service was friendly, though. Prices felt a bit high (€10 for bread, butter, and a boiled egg with chutney), but it might be a better choice for lunch if you go in with modest expectations. Maybe I just expected too much on my special day! 🙂

20 lin waited outside. No service. No German. Ordered drinks after the waiter was gracious to come to the table. You have to order inside. I couldn't figure out why it was just me, no food was offered, no cards, dirty tables. Then I waited 30 minutes for the drinks I ordered to arrive, then I went in. Pure ignorance. They probably don't want German-speaking guests, so I left. This place should close due to prosperity.

Amazing all day spot. The coffee is really good, and the wine list is fantastic if you want something to drink. Food is excellent and changes often to match what is in season.

One of my fav places in Berlin for coffee, cake, brunch and today for the first Time dinner. Great value for money (sharing menu for 2 = 70eur) given the quality of the dishes. Super cute service and very cozy atmosphere. I personally didn't like the open wine selection much, but it's Berlin and everyone loves natural wine except me 🙃 love the place, go go go and have a fab dinner here !

Best brunch in Berlin. It is pricey compared to average in this city, but the unusual and fresh ingredients & unique flavour combinations are always 10/10. The atmosphere and service are fine but I wouldn’t say excellent—just like other brunch places. The tables are packed quite close to one another too

we had the most perfect valentine’s date here !! we requested a specific table due to access requirements and they were so accommodating. the whole vibe was perfect - relaxed, cool music, amazing food, great service. can’t wait to come back !!

We arrived when they opened and no one else was in the restaurant. We had a reservation and could guess which table was ours but no on came to welcome us or show us to the table for maybe 4 minutes. And then the food took about and hour to arrive. The food in the end was good but it’s was just a strange amount of waiting time given the business of the restaurant.

What a lovely dining experience! The atmosphere is soft and gentle, and the lovely staff really help to create a welcoming environment. The food was absolutely delicious as well - I had the ricotta gnudi, my friend the porchetta, and we shared the fennel salad. The flavours were well-balanced and not too heavy. Definitely recommend :).

We were use to come to sorrel for nice brunch and diner. But the price rises a lot. The wine list is now only natural wine without any warning. We chose an expensive bottle to celebrate with our family. And the wine was really not good. The quality/price was really bad and for that price you normally have a great bottle and an amazing experience! Food was good but again not for that price. The service was really great. People who work there are really nice. The atmosphere of the restaurant was too loud. So definitely an overrated place and way too expensive for what it is … we won’t come back… Ps: I forgot to mention the most problematic fact : the wine has been open at the bar and not at the table. For a bottle of that price it deserves to be presented first at the client and then to be open in front of him/her. We would have say no to the bottle regarding the orange color of it. It really felt like we were force to drink it and pay for it.

I am writing to share my concern about the service I received at your bar today. I was disappointed by the response from one of your staff members—a white male—who simply stated, “I’m too busy,” when I requested assistance. I understand that busy periods can be challenging; however, his dismissive tone left me feeling uncomfortable and, regrettably, as though his attitude might have been influenced by bias. I kindly ask that you review this matter so that every customer may be treated with the respect they deserve. All the other staff members were friendly.

Unfortunately, minus stars are not possible. The ambience is fine, the design is clean, so the acoustics in the store are real horror and quite loud. Food was tasty but overpriced for quantity and quality. Service is terribly unfriendly, but maybe that's part of the concept.

Sorrel is one of our favorite places to go for brunch in berlin. If you are with a group of 6 or bigger it is even possible to reserve a table which is highly convenient as brunch places in Berlin, specially in the weekends tent to be quite full. The food is just so delicious and changes enough so you can be there every week or two and have something different every time. The presentation of the food is also great and the coffee and mimosa’s are excellent! I can highly recommend this place.

The food I got was quite underwhelming. I ordered a schnitzel and got just that - peace of breaded meat on the plate (no potatoes, no sides). Probably won't come back any time soon.

Really very relaxed and quiet at lunchtime during the week, especially for Berlin. The food and coffee were delicious.

Foods are small but tasty. We will have a group gathering here soon, I hope we have a nice experience :) + Info that we booked 'set menu(group) options' was not shared by servers and they were getting orders one by one before I arrive 😅

Delicious brunch with a twist and not your regular eggs Benedict and pancake place. We shared one appetizer, two mains and one dessert. Food was plenty and everything was delicious. Overall quality justifies the price if you want something a bit special. The place itself also has a nice vibe and coffee is good too.

Finally made it to Sorrel and I regret not doing that earlier! Only tried anchovies & lardo on toast and beetroot salad this time, both were delicious and full of flavor. The atmosphere is very relaxing and staff super sweet and attentive, I’ll definitely be back there for a proper dinner

tapas portion size dishes and a bit on the pricey side - tasty and devouring dishes if you're hungry -however the mussels was on the generous side of very spicy (even for me that I use tabasco on everything). wine was the usual natural wine that you find in many hipster places around berlin. Service was fast and friendly - however the fact you on only get 2 hours on the table even though you spend 100£ + ! Overall Nice place but bit overpriced!

We had an amazing dinner here - the food was phenomenal. We are both veggie and there were plenty of options for us. Wine was amazing too. We thought the meal was very reasonable (€120ish for two people, including wine, cocktails and pudding). Service also was fab!

Was there for breakfast on Saturday. We got a place straight away. Service only in English. Food was ok, but for the price it was cheaper and the food was better. There were 4 service staff, but they were hardly noticed. When I wanted to pay, the finger was pointed at the bar saying I could pay there. Of course they asked for a tip, but for what?

Very tasty food. We shared breakfast. There was burrata, fried eggs, a salad and French toast for dessert. Everything was delicious, we were very full and the French toast was absolutely amazing. I would definitely recommend making a reservation. We were lucky to get a table. The price was a bit more expensive, but the food was very tasty so it was good. The cocoa was really tasty too.

I was here for breakfast and was disappointed. The food is nicely prepared, but tastes nothing special. Far too expensive for what it is. The service was friendly and attentive, but the food remained unspectacular.

Overall this is great place to have dinner at. The staff is friendly and food is great. 4 stars out 5: - The door does not close very well. When people come and go it is left open. Makes you feel cold if you sit not far from the door - The pasta was a bit oversalted. The rest of the food was great!

Menu and service (Standard Berlin) only in English and the welcome was not effusive, but OK. The ambience could be cozy if it wasn't so incredibly noisy and the wooden benches had a cushion or cushion here and there. The food (a pumpkin and a fish dish) was good, but unfortunately neither surprising in terms of taste nor particularly elaborate in terms of craftsmanship - hence my conclusion, at least for this subjective snapshot: you can do it, but you don't have to have had it...

Food is nice but pricey for what you get. We did spend a good 100 €, and still had food and drinks on our table when the waitor came and informed us quite harsh that we need to clear the table in 30 minutes because its reserved (altough there is no reservation possible for two at sundays). no polite hint or something at the beginning of our brunch, that we would be racing a clock there, which you wouldnt expect giving the chill and luxurious vibe this café tries to achieve.

The most beautiful location where the sun shines at lunchtime and the best brunch. I would say one of the best in the city. With really great twists. Everything was super tasty. 10/10

Quite overpriced for the quality and amount of food they serve. We paid 12€ for 3 pieces of green asparagus. And the same price for a boring fennel salad. That’s a joke Update: We went to Sorrel last Saturday eve for dinner to give it a second chance. Unfortunately it did not really get better. The service, except of one woman who took really good care of everything, did not give enough attention. A few did not really had a clue about their huge wine list, which is a bit weak for a restaurant that is specified on natural wines. One of the waiters did not even know if there was a pet nat on the menu so we had to order something random as he was not able to tell us anything about the wines. For Food we ordered 5 Plates of braised pork. None of them was served warm, had any texture than wobbly fat or was seasoned very well. It was actually not really fun to eat this dish. Over all there were a few dishes that were technically well done as we ordered everything on the menu. Nevertheless everything sounds way nicer as it actually is in the end. I'm very sorry to tell that i won't come again as this was already the second unsatisfying experience at this place.

Just another overrated hipster spot in Berlin. All the dishes on the menu sound very interesting, creative and inspired. But our experience was a bit different. The use of any spices and flavours doesn't seem to be common here. Maybe I don't understand the chef's concept… The braised pork belly was tasteless, so the carrot ‚emulsion‘. The fennel was also tasteless. The potatoes were steamed, baked and deep fried to death; so they died at least three times (the miso Mayonnaise was also tasteless). So we skipped the dessert. If you like 'natural wine’, this is your spot. Beer was ok. The mussels were ok.

Sorrel quickly became one of my favourite spots in Neukölln. The atmosphere is super relaxed, and the seasonal menu always feels fresh and interesting. I have to say, their coffee is a real standout for me—hands down some of the best I’ve had in Berlin. Whether you’re grabbing a bite or just there for a flat white, everything has that unique twist that keeps you coming back. The mushroom tempura sandwich and potato galette are solid picks, but honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

What a cute place, with a great service and good food ! Definitely a cafe I’ll enjoy spending a couple cozy hours reading my book in Had the French toast and homemade lemonade and loved it !

Though the food is tasty, the portions are tiny and you need to order multiple dishes per person, if you are slightly hungry. Hence, a visit turns quite expensive for what it is. Usual slow East Berlin service in hip places, but friendly!

Food not prepared with hygiene and carefully. Found a pointed plastic piece in my food which trust me could have been bad if I I had swallowed it. Everything is good but there is one single guy taking orders and placing people on table, who is full of attitude. So much so that my experience was ruined. Found a pointed plastic in my dish and when I asked the guy if he could explain this and he said yea so it was a kitchen accident. Didn’t even apologise.

We had an excellent time @Sorrel. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, the food was delicious, the service was perfect and very quick. Fully recommend!

Great value, cosy setting and good service. The plates are for sharing and they were the right size. We were five and had eight plates. All very good. The wine we ordered was also very good.

Overall great brunch. The food was very delicious & generous portions. Service was very nice, though we did wait quite a bit for the food. Atmosphere is cool. Oysters 4.5/5: nice produce, nicely served with pickled shallots and lemon Burrata 4/5: great produce, nice little acidity Bread & butter 4/5: good, but nothing special. Bread served cold, didn’t like the whipped butter Fennel 5/5: super delicious and fresh. Loved the combo with the peach, olives and almonds paired with a subtle fruity/acidic dressing Fried eggs on labneh 4.5/5: delicious with the chilli oil. Really liked the toasted bread, though the dish could have used a little extra punch of umami. French toast 5/5: great in texture and taste. Great sauce combinations and superb pudding/creme (?) on top. Iced matcha 3/5: too subtle on the matcha.

The service was super nice and fast. Recommendations fitted perfect, food and wine were delicious. We will definitely come back.

The food was amazing 🔨. Unfortunately, my wallet was stolen by fraudsters in the café. You definitely have to take care of your valuables there! I would like the staff to familiarize themselves with the surveillance video so that they can identify the perpetrator next time. Nevertheless, I will come back, the food was really great. But I will keep my bag closed, close to me. The waitress said this has been happening a lot lately. I would be interested to know what the cafe is doing to prevent this from happening in the future? Even if you can't help it, of course.

Great restaurant that lives up to the reviews. Every dish we tried was perfectly made, including the dessert, a beautifully light Basque cheesecake. My favourite was the fennel, peach and almond salad. The wine we had was great, too. The service started off a little slow, but the waiting staff more than made up for it during the course of the evening. They were attentive, friendly and professional. I’d highly recommend Sorrel to anyone looking for unpretentious yet delicious and innovative food at good value.

In my opinion, the cafe is a bit overrated: the prices are quite high compared to the quality offered, which I find to be average. The flavors are nothing special, and overall the experience was a bit over the top. There are definitely better alternatives.

Service unfortunately was very slow. We had to wait for the order for about 40 minutes and one dish was missing. Schnitzel was good.

The three of us were there on a Thursday evening at 7 p.m. without a reservation and got a table without any problems! We had a wonderful evening. The employees were very courteous and attentive, the food was excellent, as was the wine and the overall price-performance ratio was outstanding. Also worth mentioning is the super cozy atmosphere. We would love to come back!

The food was ok, but some dishes like the fried egg and the labneh can be found in almost every restaurant in Berlin. You can get them in some restaurants in Hackescher Markt with better ingredients for the same price. The coffee was very good, and the alcoholic drink was good but not special or new. The service was extremely poor. Although I had reserved in advance, the treatment and choice of table was very poor. The coffee I was served was spilled on the table because the waiter had hastily put it down. He didn't change the tray or bring napkins to wipe up the coffee. The food took a very, very long time to be served and strangely only one dish was served even though I said I wanted all the dishes to be served at the same time. After the first dish was served, we waited over 30 minutes for the other dishes, even though we had already waited just as long for the first dish. The napkins were very scarce after the coffee accident on the table and I had to ask for more (one napkin per person is not enough in my opinion). In short, the food was good, but not special enough to warrant a repeat reservation. The service was very, very bad.

I’ve been visiting Sorrel for 2 years, and recently the menu doesn’t include the best dishes often shown on Google. The new dishes aren’t as good, and they’re pricy. The service seems to be also getting slower. What was an easy 5-star brunch spot is now no longer recommended. Atmosphere still excellent.
