Indian vegetarian restaurant with a very varied menu. I had the palak paneer, Indian cheese in a cream of spinach and spices, with basmati rice, and I found it tasty and spicy. The dishes, even if not indicated, are slightly spicy, so I recommend asking the waiters before ordering. Friendly staff.

I visited this place hoping to enjoy some comforting home style food after a long time but was left disappointed. Conveniently located next to the main railway station, it is easily accessible, though there's usually a queue before entry. The service was slow and a bit disorganized, I requested my coffee to be served after the first dish, but it was brought out first. The food itself was oily and lacked flavor, failing to meet expectations. In the end, I left feeling dissatisfied after paying a hefty price for an underwhelming experience.

The dosa was a very oily. Otherwise is is a good place to try south Indian cuisine. We have tried other branches of the same restaurant, those are better than this one.

Delicious South Indian food with authentic flavors! The dosas were crisp, the sambar was flavorful, and the filter coffee was a treat. The ambiance is welcoming. Service was a bit slow during rush hours, but overall, a great place for a hearty, satisfying meal. Will definitely visit again!

Akashya ( if im not mistaken) berlin branch gave us very friendly nice service. She was very polite, friendly and amazing crew. She helped us with good food recommendations and served with good hygiene . She is always smiling at customers and keen on customer service. We felt like home in saravana bavan bcz of her . Than you.

It is famous for his traditional dosas and south Indian food. You can enjoy every other south Indian dish there except dosas. I found it very stuffed and unnecessarily spicy as they add green chillies in the name of Spices. Service is good, environment you can handle.

Food is really good and like that they've numerous vegetarian options. Comfortable sitting area with nice view of Potsdamer Platz.

A nice environment, comfortable to be there. A lot of dishes to choose from. The most dishes cost 12-20 euros. Recommend dosas and mango Lassi)

Must visit for authentic taste.

The real highlight of this place is the dosa : 10,90€, big, crispy with soft spots, with 3 different tasty sauces and a little dal. We also tried the mushroom mandchurian and the paneer Khorma, which were ok, just not out of this world. The rice though had a very weird taste, almost like cleaning product or earth. I did not eat it at all because it covered the taste of the curries to me. The special milk tea was also very nice, but for 5€ the 2 little pieces of gula were very overpriced and oversweetened. In general, I'd come back for a dosa and a tea, but not for a curry with rice. Overall we paid around 55€, with also 2 Lassis.

The dosas are particularly recommended here. You can't go wrong with the simple dosa and you should try it. We also had the Paneer Khorma and Mushroom Manchurian, both of which were also delicious. What didn't work was the rice: musty, earthy, almost slightly moldy in taste. Poor quality rice is used here or something is wrong with the storage. In the end, we hardly ate any of the rice and left it almost untouched. Also steep: the price for the two bites of Gulab Jamun: €5! For €5 I can get 20 pieces in any Indian store! Fortunately, the milk tea is again great, slightly bitter and spicy, especially if you DO NOT stir it. The sugar collects on the bottom. At around €60 for two people it was rather more expensive, but we basically had two drinks per person and a 3-course meal. Combined with the location, it is still a fair price offer. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a seat at the Berlinale in the afternoon. It was very crowded and therefore quite loud, making conversation difficult. The view from the window extends to Potsdamer Platz.

Waited a long time outside to even get in. 2 dosas came after 10 minutes already, the szechuan rice took half an hour longer. The rice was just a small bowl. It tasted good but the quantity was extremely small for 12€. I asked if they missed something but they said it is like that. I said in that case i want to return it but they said i have to pay full price. This basically means they can serve you a single grain of rice and charge you a full meal.

Excellent Dhosa and South Indian food in a busy bright space! Gets busy evenings, so reserve if you can... Our family of 4 had a fabulous and filling meal for a reasonable price!

Not even worth giving 1 star They take a lot of time to get orders done, when we order for a table they deliver at different times and some of us had to wait for more than 30 min for fried rice or other items Seems like everyone is lost and we had to remind them often, I have been here 3 times in 2 years and all the time the service and food was a big time disappointment! Ordered for take away and the person at the counter told me to wait outside at -5 degrees for my order for 30 minutes. If a restaurant accepts take away orders, it should have a space inside for the customer to wait instead of sending him outside. The food was good though!

I had lunch at the restaurant on a Tuesday. When I arrived there were less than 10 guests. It took more than 30 minutes to prepare a simple Palak Paneer.

Disappointing Experience – Lacking Flavor and Warmth We visited this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon, hoping for a great meal, but unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations. The ambiance felt a bit dull, and the service was not as welcoming as we had hoped. While we understand that restaurants can get busy, a little more attentiveness from the staff would have made a difference. As for the food, we ordered Bisi Bele Bath and Mysore Masala Dosa, but both were quite bland. The Bisi Bele Bath lacked seasoning and tasted watery, while the dosa was undercooked and missing the expected bold flavors. We were hoping for authentic, well-spiced dishes, but the flavors just weren’t there. Overall, the experience left us disappointed, and we wouldn’t be inclined to return. We hope the restaurant can take feedback into consideration and improve both food quality and service in the future.

The food is really good and authentic, and it is somewhere I frequently take my non-Indian friends to so they can taste legit South Indian food (which is harder to find in Germany/Europe). 10/10 would recommend.

Lousy customer service. I was alone to they kept me waiting while sending others inside, even though there were empty tables. Food is ok, but very congested place and dirty. I have been to many Savarna Bhavans and this one was by the worst experience.

The food is amazing, the staff were very kind in explaining the menu. A suggestion, maybe you could add more pictures to the menu and number the pictures with the corresponding dish.

Unfortunately, the restaurant is not suitable for wheelchair users, as Google says, as there is no wheelchair-accessible toilet. The food is very good.

The food was very tasty. We had Mysore masala dosa and vada sambar. Felt like I was back home in India. The staff is also really nice. One of the staff members Vipasha was really sweet and friendly. She gave us complimentary chutneys. :D. Really good people. :)

Great option for delicious South Indian food

The food service by Ms.Vipasa is excellent. She always make sure the food is delievered on time to table. She is the best waitress.

Anyone with a gluten intolerance who comes here because of the dosas as a specialty will be disappointed. All dosas contain gluten. In addition, upon inquiry, it turned out that an appetizer marked as gluten-free on the menu actually contained gluten. As for the Palak Paneer that was also served: bland and a bit like prison food. My companion's food arrived 15 minutes later. My last visit here.

Its dirty and wayyy overpriced. The walls are simply covere in grease and some food bits, the same everything else, te floor was disaster. For this money u can have much nice food in much nice place , not mentioning that food with meat … I give my opinion Very seldomly, and usually when I’m híper happy with some place, but this time … I get it that maybe it’s good for a quick lunch break with work dudes, but definitely not for a days, or nice evening with friends etc. it’s rather a canteen than a restaurant, just with restaurants prices. And food wasn’t even good! So boring, vegetarian food isn’t boring nad tasteless unless u eat in this place. I really don’t understand positive reviews etc. Ahhh we waited for a bill million minutes, though we were passed by our and other cleaners 20 times.

I go here a lot, like once a month probably. Whenever I come here, I always have a great time. The food is the best south Indian food I've ever had outside of India. Even there, in some places in north India I had worse south Indian food than this. In this way, it's something like a Karnataka/Tamil version of Andhra Bhavan in Delhi's Andra Embassy for me. And you can see it too: It's obvious that many south Indians come here when they're missing food from their home. The service is also always top notch. All the servers are always super helpful, and just in general wonderful and happy to see me. I went here yesterday for my birthday with some friends, and I had the greatest time I've had at Saravanaa Bhavan yet. I ate their Saravanaa Special Meals, and my friends who don't eat spicy food like I do found great options as well. Our server was Akanksha, and she always has the most amazing service. We vibe in a funny way, I can see that she's happy I'm back. And I'm always happy when she's serving me. She made literally everything possible. From changes to menu items for my friends who can't handle the spice, to an extra sweet off the menu (it was part of the Thali), and a great conversation throughout. Love goes out to the whole team of Saravanan Bhavan at Potsdamer Platz - from the Servers to the Cooks, the Bartenders, and the Cleaners and Back Office people. Thanks for always making sure I have the greatest food and an amazing experience whenever I come here. I'll be back in a few weeks 💜

The staff is very arrogant They should receive training for customer management. I understand the crowded hours but ut it takes nothing to be polite..

Very good vegetarian dishes. We had a lentil crepe filled with various dips which was very tasty! There were mostly Indian-looking guests in the restaurant. Staff quick and friendly.

Been here few times for lack of good South Indian places. Service is really lousy each time. There is a lot of staff, but just hanging around. The amount of sambar or chutney you get is so little. Food is hit or miss. This place needs competition.

I ordered online from their website and had one of the worst experience in case of pick up. Online it says 25 minutes but took a hour to prepare order. They are more focused on dine-in customer rather pick up. Later at home when I opened, the dosa was extremely burnt and black.

I’m disappointed with Sarvanaa Bhavan’s service and hygiene. There is no option for 0 start, otherwise I would give it to 0. I went to restaurant and ordered some food and they served me in very dirt and unwashed dish. I asked one of the waiter to replace the plate and they were like what I can do if dish is dirt, I can’t replace it. Even the place is also very dirty and unhygienic.I just want to ask management that this is what you serve to your customers?

I've been a regular at Sarvanabhavan for the past 2 years, always enjoying their dosas and idli. Unfortunately, the service has gone downhill in recent months. During my last visit, we waited 30 minutes despite empty tables. It felt like they prioritized serving non-Indian customers over us. We were eventually seated in front of the kitchen with dirty plates, and no one paid attention to our table. Very disappointing experience.

I have been visiting Saravana Bhavan for two years, but my experience today was very disappointing. We ordered dosa, veg kofta, and paneer kadai. The veg kofta was not special, just like Manchurian balls. Worst of all, we found a hair in the dosa. When we told them, they did not respond properly and behaved rudely. I also feel their behavior towards Indian customers is not good. I am very unhappy with the service and hygiene and will not recommend this place anymore.

We have dined in Saravana Bhavan around the world, but we had the worse experience so far in this outlet. Except 1 or 2 of them most staffs were grumpy, almost rude. The food is huge in quantity but very bland in taste. We tried paneer 65 and special masala tea. That was not bad and paneer 65 was very oily, but they served a pile of them on the plate. Tried 2 different types of Dosas, both tasted like paper. It was the end of December, so they are obviously very overwhelmed with demand, but that can't be an excuse for such tasteless food. One of the dosa was also different from what we ordered but we didn't mention it to be polite and a bit sympathetic towards them but in that one hour, we saw multiple servers bring back wrong food from different tables. Unfortunately, we were forced to leave heaps of food on the plate. There were very loud noise coming from the kitchen, enough to ruin your mood or start a headache. Only the location was nice.

Authentic Indian food. The main downside was that they refused to serve tap water.

It starts work at noon! But as it opens very soon gets full!! Visit this place to enjoy Real Indian cousins - interesting choices of dishes and they serve them "delicious", hot and freshly prepared.

Good food. S. Indian Thali was amazing Overall enjoyable experience. A little crowded in the evening. But as compared to other restaurants of the chain in Frankfurt, this place was good. A little wait can be expected as the restaurant is generally full but quick service ensures that you are served food quickly. Just order something which is fast running item and you would be okay.

Overall, the service was excellent, especially during a busy period, though the food was a mix of hits and misses. The buttermilk was overly thick and salty, while the rasam was flavorful. The cheese naan for kids was also too salty, the Mysore masala dosa was average, but the chili paneer stood out as exceptional. Although the tea was bitter, the staff graciously replaced it with coffee, which was excellent. The service staff was delightful and handled the peak Christmas Eve rush admirably. Despite a 20-minute wait and dealing with impatient Indian demanding diners, they managed the stress and demands efficiently, ensuring a pleasant experience overall.

I visited this place when it was busy but noticed several empty tables. I was asked to wait for a few minutes, which I didn’t mind, but as I waited, more tables became available. To my surprise, new customers who arrived after me were seated promptly while I continued to wait without any acknowledgment. The front desk was crowded with servers they seemed disorganized and inattentive. Overall, it felt like poor management and an unfair experience.

Some satisfaction of tasting south Indian. The food does not taste like Saravana Bhavan or south Indian anymore. The service is also not great like in the past.

Although I have been visiting this place for the last 2+ years, today was the worst food. I don't know why, but I feel like vomiting. Considering the occasional stomach upset followed by the meal here, I would say the food quality is quite uncertain. Especially during the heavy crowd, which is quite common here anyway.

Not at all surprised, but my food had hair in it. I took my Indian parents out for dinner (in Berlin) and I unfortunately had to send my food back. How hard is it to maintain hygiene? Why does a place as famous as Saravanaa Bhavan prove cliches right that Indians are unhygienic? Also, maybe the restaurant can consider cleaning the floors once in a while to remove remnants of dropped food. Do better.

The place to go for vegetarian Indian food, I think I've heard that it's mainly south Indian cuisine at the place. Very attentive staff and great food. I had a masala dosa and rice with fried cashew nuts, both were tasty and the masala dosa was like 50cm.

The South Indian food is simply fantastic 🤩 now my 4th visit and my friends were just as enthusiastic... no matter what you order, it tastes very good! The restaurant's decor isn't necessarily to my taste, but that's okay. The staff is very friendly and is professional 🙏🏻

It couldn't be worse. "Wait to be seated" means, "You can take Tusch 38. Accompany you to the table? No, if you look, you will find. Palak Paneer = mixed ready-made spinach with the cheapest cheese. The railing to the toilet, greasy, disgusting. No idea how the reviews are quite good.

It's actually said to be the best South Indian food in the heart of the city (which is true). However, the service is extremely bad! I waited about 40 minutes for dessert. Ordered various dishes for a single person sitting in a tiny table, but to the surprise, all were brought in together in one go. All cold. There was a piece of metal scrub in the food. That gave me a lesson - don’t eat out anymore. The waitress doesn’t have to be extremely polite or something, but sure shouldn’t have a huge ego and show those to others. Taste was not close by any means to what I’ve had on my trip to India. Ambience was poor. Cramped and no privacy (dividers between tables). Enlightening experience

The closest taste to Indian food I have experienced outside of India. The food was fantastic. The service and attitude of the staff was excellent. They guided us kindly and patiently and we chose dishes that we really liked.

What can I say their Gobi Pakora was bland (close to no salt) and after informing they mentioned that’s how it will be for the night. They did not charge me for that but I would have loved to see a disclaimer on the menu that Gobi Pakora will be served without salt for the day :)

Great place for food from southern part of India. I have been to Saravana Bhavan in various cities in Europe and by far this has been the best place. Food is as usual great! Must visit place when in Berlin

The restaurant was busy but we were immediately offered a seat. The service was friendly and quick. The food was good and plentiful. Prices are okay. The restaurant is large and rather functionally furnished. This makes it quite loud and doesn't necessarily invite you to linger for a long time.

The food is tasty, I liked it. But I think Idlis are too expensive there. One plate costs I think 8 Eur and you just get two small Idlis. You don't even feel half full. Otherwise, the other dishes, especially dosa are not only tasty but also worth the price

Ordered idili, vada and sambar with coffee and it was only average compared to the international Saravana Bhavan. Staff were not friendly, Pre booking is recommended, will have to wait a bit after order so even had to cancel one order. Not recommended for families with small babies or kids. The toilet is on the 1st floor and I didn't see any lift for wheelchair users.

I was a fan until I was refused a table although half the restaurant was empty. Since I was alone (and not profitable for the restaurant) And then asked to wait outside in the freezing cold by a self righteous over officious employee And then I bumped in to Chaiwalla at Kant Strasse so Sarvana is history

Very nice experience 🤍 we loved the vibes , the stuff were very nice and friendly, specially Azeem ! He is very welcoming and always checked if everything is good, or we need something. The food on the otherside was very delicious, specially the Dosa😍 highly recommended

Being South Indians, my friends and I expected some kind of authenticity from a popular chain. This was quite a let down for us all. The food was far from being tasty and hygiene wasn't top notch either. Having avoided this restaurant for so long, I regret giving in to the rave reviews online! Surprisingly, the place was fairly full, kudos to the popularity of the franchise. Please add a disclaimer that your restaurant is suitable for those who are clueless about South Indian cuisine. Medhu vada was not crispy or tasty, it was just a ball of bad dough. Masala dosas came with chutneys that were watery and honestly, they could be 10x better. Szechwan cheese dosa had lumps of huge veggies inside for filling! What we ordered: masala dosa, Mysore masala dosa (a disgrace to the original), Szechwan masala dosa (soggy and unappetizing), medhu vada (a doughy mess!), dahi vada, beverages Highlight: yummy buttermilk, and dahi vada was fairly decent.

I had visited this place today with my friends overall I loved having masala dhosa but chinese food was not worth eating service is too bad we had one elderly tall lady serving us and making faces all the way right from taking orders till the time we paid our bills , simulteanously she was very good with non Indians like germans overall I would rate 2 star because of the service and discrimination with indians

Decent taste but lots of variety for South Indian food. It's not the most authentic but it's good. My favourite is their tomato-onion uttapam. They're usually packed, I guess because of the lack of South Indian restaurants in Berlin. They take quite some time to get you your food because of the busy-ness I guess. Their toilets are the worst though. They don't seem to care to maintain it.

For the prices paid there...the palak paneer is a disaster It tasted delicious and looked so...green! Service unsuitable! The boy was already overwhelmed when he ordered! I tried to give a tip but was not understood! Mass processing of bad kind! Never again!

Food was always good. First time i can say it was good serice.

We were here with 6 people. The food came so staggered that the first dishes were already completely cold before the others received their food. They refused to reheat the food. Drinks were forgotten. The staff was very friendly but given the delay we cannot recommend the restaurant.

I had order sambaar vada. The dish was not tasty and the Wada was too soggy felt like not fried completely. When I conveyed my feedback to the waitress, she did not accept it.
