The worst ever experience I got for service. We have to wait up for almost 45 mins for a waiter to give just order. After than we had to wait upto 30 to 40 mins to get the order done. During the Dinner time we had no waiter coming around for almost 40 mins. We wasn’t able to order anything during this moment. It is very Regret full to write this review. 🙁

While this place is a vegetarian haven and has plenty of varieties when it comes to using the same rice batter, there is so much they can improve on. Esp something as simple as coffee, not sure why but they miss every time.. this time I got a chicory concoction NOT coffee. It was horrible While the dosas, uthappam and idlis are ok. I did expect them to put more of an effort into the taste. Masala dosas can be so much better. The rating on food alone is 3/5 on a good day. Service was fair.

I made a reservation for 5 people but the restaurant was closed due to state visit. I believe they forgot to update their website and reservation portal.

The food arrived late and the serving time was reallyyyy long. I ask for a sambhar refill it arrived almost when the food was over and the chutneys never arrived. The food was also average

Nice and fast service. Good food. Dosa is quite uncommon in Indian restaurants here, and they have a great selection of Dosa varieties. The Dosa was really good and authentic. The Mango Lassi is much closer to one you would get in India as it is less milky and has a rich Mango flavour instead. The coffee was nice too. The toilets were in mediocre condition though. There was quite some fluid on the ground and the mirrors looked quite old. As the place is quite crowded, the noise level is on the upper end. Conversations are still possible, but you need to talk louder. Overall a really nice place to eat.

Absolutely shocked by how rude and unprofessional the staff were during our recent visit. We've been regulars at Saravana Bhavan Berlin for years, but after what happened, we won’t be coming back — and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for even basic hospitality. We had a reservation for 10 people to celebrate a birthday. What should’ve been a joyful dinner turned into an uncomfortable experience from the moment we started ordering. The waiter was openly rude, told one of our friends to “stay quiet” because we were “confusing” him — in a tone that was downright disrespectful. Later, when we pointed out that a dosa was missing podi, he told us to “open it and see” as if we were lying. It felt more like a confrontation than customer service. The bad attitude wasn’t limited to one person either. When we asked the waitress for glasses, she frowned and handed them to us without even placing them on the table — just small things that piled up into a truly unwelcoming experience. For a place that prides itself on tradition and hospitality, this was completely unacceptable. No one in our group felt respected, and we left wondering how such behavior is allowed to pass as service. Really disappointed. The food isn’t enough to make up for how poorly we were treated. Avoid if you value being treated with even a shred of courtesy.

Had an amazing dinner here with friends, and the Paneer Butter Cheese Masala Dosa absolutely stole the show—rich, cheesy, and bursting with flavour. What made the experience even better was Akshay’s service. Warm, attentive, and so thoughtful—he really went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and happy throughout. Great food, great vibes, and truly memorable service. We’ll definitely be back!

Honestly, i come first time food is good but service is zero moreover, behaviour of staff how to talk to guest is very bad.

Good food, tasty and good quantity. Food were served quickly. Though service I would give 3. I am not sure if this was bias action towards us ( Indian family) or it's a norm. But if it's norm then the team needs to learnto do better service Incident. We could not finish the food we ordered so we asked for it to be parceled. The guy said sure and came back with a polythene bag and food box and asked US to pack it ourself. We were confused, which restaurant ask their customers to pack their own food?

The taste of food and quality was good but the experience I had while asking the food for parcel the waiter gave empty box with a plastic paper which I was a bit curious what should I be doing with this who will fill it from the plate to the parcel box he mentioned we don't do it and mentioned thats how they do it there, I wish they take money for the food which we have in restaurant driving to customers address and we can keep an empty wallet in table. Hope this behaviour changes and parcel should be given like how other restaurants in Germany giving.

If there is possibly to give negative points then I ll give -10 (Minus Ten) for very very bad service from weiter. After whole family finished, they didn’t gives food for children.. when I asked stupid waiters (Rahul) just ignored..shame on you..

Amazing strictly vegan/vegetarian Indian food in Mitte (no meat of any kind!). They also have tons of gluten free options. Service is good and they’re very fast. Possibly the best Indian food to get in Berlin.

The food was cold, seemed it had been sitting for a while and the service was indifferent. Not a good experience.

One evening, me and my family wanted to have dinner there and even made a reservation. but because you could only reserve for at least 5 people and there were only three of us there and the other two would come later, they didn't let us in. In my opinion it's really unfair because they simply gave our space to people who didn't reserve.

They lose one star because, despite advance reservation, it was clear nothing was organised. I had to protest and refuse the quickly assembled 5 chairs round 2 tables. I asked for , and was granted, an unoccupied large round table. Otherwise Excellent food and great service personnel. Definitely a place to go.

All the dishes served at Saravanaa Bhavan are authentic Indian cuisine and taste is just as it should be with perfect blend of spices and herbs This was my 5th trip to this restaurant and I have enjoyed it so much. The staff is very polite and welcoming. You might have to wait 15/20 mins for a table during rush hours , but this place is a must visit

I had been there for the first time during my vacation to Berlin, and got totally disappointed with service. It is over crowded place, with clumsy sitting space and a very limited staff to handle. They could not manage to serve in time, and they missed 1 item from my order. Complete chaos! Avoid this place.

Travel 1 hour to get nice food. But it was tasteless no flavour at all. Side salad not fresh look old and smelly. Sorry but was not expecting this.

Great place to come if you love to waste your time. We ordered 3 things and they forgot two of them, taking 45 minutes in between each dish to realise they’d forgotten it. Good food but I prefer my time.

This restaurant is just hyped, I don't know why. I tried eating here two times and both times I ordered different food, each time there food taste quality is so bad I can't even explain. How come you can charge this exorbitant amount for this low level of food quality. Even the friend who took me there was very disappointed.

Avoid if you can !! Its a disgrace by the name of Saravana!! I had high hopes for this restaurant, but unfortunately, the service fell short during my visit. The staff seemed overwhelmed and had an attitude, It took quite a while before our order was taken and even longer for the food to arrive. Dont expect chutney with sambar vada or sambar idly...unheard of this in a south indian joint. While I understand that busy nights happen, a bit more attentiveness would’ve gone a long way. The food itself was below average. The overall experience left something to be desired.

The food in this restaurant is too greasy and tastes quite bland. The Bhatura is the worst thing I have ever eaten. The service is extremely friendly. Overrated restaurant.

In general dosas, paratha, gobi 65, paneer 65 was good. However there is waiting most of the times for 15-20 mins and 15-20 mins for dosas

The waitress was super nice, we had some dietary restrictions, and she tried all from her side to help us pick the optimum dish. The dosa from this place is never dissapointing.

We ordered aloo paratha, and they didn't even give us plates. Even after asking twice, it took 15-20 minutes for us to get plates. The service from the staff was extremely poor. A very disappointing experience.

We (2)placed order for a Mysore Masala Dosa and Mini Idli Sambar. They served the Mysore Masala Dosa, but the Mini Idlis never arrived. After waiting for 10 minutes, I had to ask about the delay, only to be told that the idlis were finished and were "just being prepared." Very disappointing customer service.

As regulars, we’ve always enjoyed the food and decent service. But lately, it seems like the portions have gone on a diet—cut in half! You’ll need two mains just to feel mildly full. Great spot if you're in the mood for a snack... not so much if you came with an appetite and dreams of a full meal. Bring a friend—or a second order.

Had high hopes for Saravanaa bhavan, but mysore masala dosa which I ordered was not good. Also tried Batura, which tasted good but was very oily (I know Batura's are by definition oily)

My 1st time trying this chain and fusion Chinese-Indian food. Was convinced because the place looked full, however I was not very satisfied at the end. In my opinion, except for the dosas which look good, the presentation, tastes, and quality of the other food are like cheap canteen/cafetaria food. For me, especially the seasoning of the food lacks depth. I'm not sure if it supposed to be like this, since this is apparently a worldwide famous chain, but I really wasn't impressed. Service def could be better too.

Nice Indian southern food chain. Traditional south Indian dishes like Masala dosa are fantastic but North Indian food is a bit tricky.

I don't like to eat Indian food outside India because of taste but this time I wasn't feeling well so went here and loved the preparations. It's very very close to what you get in India. Dosas are amazing and so are chutneys. Samabar quantity needs to improve.

Food was good, I personally didn’t enjoy so much due the spice, but it was ok and don’t forget to taste the mango lassi.

The Berlin SB was awesome. Service was great ...Vipasha and others there were good. Met Shivakumar, the owner, there....got a photo with him. I first visited SB in KK Nagar, Chennai, in 1981. Eating at a SB after a long time.

Unfortunately Filter Coffee tasted the same as any Kiosk in Germany... The flavour of Saravana Bhavan lost completely... Highly Disappointed :( Food is also not worth the quality of Saravana Bhavan restaurant chain in Europe. As I tried in Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam and Hamburg(closed). The plates served are relatively old and not wiped properly after cleaning... Ventilation and heating is not properly maintained. During the mid day it turned really cold and many changed the seating place after a while....

I visited the restaurant today and we sat in a place where we were not comfortable with and switched to another spot inside. One of the waiter there was really rude and pointed fingers at us and said you cannot sit here since it was a space for 5 and told us to get up and move back to our initial place which was anyways a spot for 4. There were enough empty seats around so this felt very rude and loud. I didn’t see other people exhibiting this behaviour towards other customers. It was very harsh on us and we eventually walked out of the restaurant because it felt very insulting. This behaviour is really not acceptable. We have ordered and had at the restaurant N times and surely didn’t expect this behaviour towards us.

I ordered tomato onion utaapam , it was less tomato and onion , more of green peas , never ate tomato onion uttapam with toppings of green peas , sambar tasted like daal , not sambhar .

The place doesn’t meet the expectations and the real taste of other Sarvana Bhavan, I have been too. Taste is okay, filter coffee is ridiculously sweet and also Rude staff! So, a no go next time!

Lively South Indian restaurant with a unique menu which is located in a business district surrounded by several hotels. It’s also one of the few restaurants which have Somerset cider on tap. While the service and atmosphere is excellent, the quality of food has deteriorated over the past couple of years. For e.g. the filling of the Mysore Masala dosa was quite bland and it was also partly burnt as seen in the photos. The Idli and Sambar were great. With that in mind, it’s no longer the best place to enjoy a dosa in Berlin but still offers a wide selection of dishes which can’t be found elsewhere and is still worth experiencing if you live in Berlin.

Disappointed with the food quality and taste. Ordered Wada Sambhar and Mysore masala dosa, and for main course we ordered the special Saravanaa thali. Sambhar lacking the taste, Mysore masala dosa filling was plain and the side dishes in thali very extremely salty and sour. Never visiting again.

Most authentic South Indian food abroad.

When we first moved to Berlin, this used to be our go-to place, but lately, both their food quality and service have been consistently declining. They used to justify delays by saying that North Indian food takes longer to prepare since it’s made separately. But today, we ordered a masala dosa, waited for an hour, and were finally served undercooked food. This is disappointing and not what you’d expect from a well-known food chain

Rice tasted like mold, we had to ask the service staff about it twice before they responded, as the food was now cold. The reaction of the staff was very unprofessional, they said after waiting 10 minutes: the rice was OK, no offer of an alternative. The rice, which was supposed to be fine, was not returned.

Indian vegetarian restaurant with a very varied menu. I had the palak paneer, Indian cheese in a spinach and spice cream, with basmati rice, and I found it tasty and spicy. The dishes, although not indicated, are slightly spicy, so I recommend asking the waiters before ordering. Friendly staff.

Delicious wide variety of vegetarian food available here. Punjabi , south indian , chinese cuisine with various cocktails and drinks are available for selection. It's always crowded after 7 pm even on weekdays, plannin advance.

The standard curry comes in a very small portions, tastes was okay, go to Amrit nearby bigger portions and the curry is tastier

I visited this place hoping to enjoy some comforting home style food after a long time but was left disappointed. Conveniently located next to the main railway station, it is easily accessible, though there's usually a queue before entry. The service was slow and a bit disorganized, I requested my coffee to be served after the first dish, but it was brought out first. The food itself was oily and lacked flavor, failing to meet expectations. In the end, I left feeling dissatisfied after paying a hefty price for an underwhelming experience.

The dosa was a very oily. Otherwise is is a good place to try south Indian cuisine. We have tried other branches of the same restaurant, those are better than this one.

Delicious South Indian food with authentic flavors! The dosas were crisp, the sambar was flavorful, and the filter coffee was a treat. The ambiance is welcoming. Service was a bit slow during rush hours, but overall, a great place for a hearty, satisfying meal. Will definitely visit again!

Akashya ( if im not mistaken) berlin branch gave us very friendly nice service. She was very polite, friendly and amazing crew. She helped us with good food recommendations and served with good hygiene . She is always smiling at customers and keen on customer service. We felt like home in saravana bavan bcz of her . Than you.

It is famous for his traditional dosas and south Indian food. You can enjoy every other south Indian dish there except dosas. I found it very stuffed and unnecessarily spicy as they add green chillies in the name of Spices. Service is good, environment you can handle.

Food is really good and like that they've numerous vegetarian options. Comfortable sitting area with nice view of Potsdamer Platz.

Must visit for authentic taste.

The real highlight of this place is the dosa : 10,90€, big, crispy with soft spots, with 3 different tasty sauces and a little dal. We also tried the mushroom mandchurian and the paneer Khorma, which were ok, just not out of this world. The rice though had a very weird taste, almost like cleaning product or earth. I did not eat it at all because it covered the taste of the curries to me. The special milk tea was also very nice, but for 5€ the 2 little pieces of gula were very overpriced and oversweetened. In general, I'd come back for a dosa and a tea, but not for a curry with rice. Overall we paid around 55€, with also 2 Lassis.

The dosas are particularly recommended here. You can't go wrong with the simple dosa and you should try it. We also had the Paneer Khorma and Mushroom Manchurian, both of which were also delicious. What didn't work was the rice: musty, earthy, almost slightly moldy in taste. Poor quality rice is used here or something is wrong with the storage. In the end, we hardly ate any of the rice and left it almost untouched. Also steep: the price for the two bites of Gulab Jamun: €5! For €5 I can get 20 pieces in any Indian store! Fortunately, the milk tea is again great, slightly bitter and spicy, especially if you DO NOT stir it. The sugar collects on the bottom. At around €60 for two people it was rather more expensive, but we basically had two drinks per person and a 3-course meal. Combined with the location, it is still a fair price offer. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a seat at the Berlinale in the afternoon. It was very crowded and therefore quite loud, making conversation difficult. The view from the window extends to Potsdamer Platz.

Waited a long time outside to even get in. 2 dosas came after 10 minutes already, the szechuan rice took half an hour longer. The rice was just a small bowl. It tasted good but the quantity was extremely small for 12€. I asked if they missed something but they said it is like that. I said in that case i want to return it but they said i have to pay full price. This basically means they can serve you a single grain of rice and charge you a full meal.

Ordered for take away and the person at the counter told me to wait outside at -5 degrees for my order for 30 minutes. If a restaurant accepts take away orders, it should have a space inside for the customer to wait instead of sending him outside. The food was good though!

Excellent Dhosa and South Indian food in a busy bright space! Gets busy evenings, so reserve if you can... Our family of 4 had a fabulous and filling meal for a reasonable price!

Not even worth giving 1 star They take a lot of time to get orders done, when we order for a table they deliver at different times and some of us had to wait for more than 30 min for fried rice or other items Seems like everyone is lost and we had to remind them often, I have been here 3 times in 2 years and all the time the service and food was a big time disappointment! I had lunch at the restaurant on a Tuesday. When I arrived there were less than 10 guests. It took more than 30 minutes to prepare a simple Palak Paneer.

The food was very tasty. There is a wide range of variations. The service is nice and helpful.

Vipasha is a cool waitress who explains very well how to enjoy the fantastic food, even for us inexperienced Germans. Without asking, she comes at the right moment. Unobtrusive, cool and very nice. I'm already looking forward to the next time, now I have a better idea of ​​how to do it

Disappointing Experience – Lacking Flavor and Warmth We visited this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon, hoping for a great meal, but unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations. The ambiance felt a bit dull, and the service was not as welcoming as we had hoped. While we understand that restaurants can get busy, a little more attentiveness from the staff would have made a difference. As for the food, we ordered Bisi Bele Bath and Mysore Masala Dosa, but both were quite bland. The Bisi Bele Bath lacked seasoning and tasted watery, while the dosa was undercooked and missing the expected bold flavors. We were hoping for authentic, well-spiced dishes, but the flavors just weren’t there. Overall, the experience left us disappointed, and we wouldn’t be inclined to return. We hope the restaurant can take feedback into consideration and improve both food quality and service in the future.

The food is really good and authentic, and it is somewhere I frequently take my non-Indian friends to so they can taste legit South Indian food (which is harder to find in Germany/Europe). 10/10 would recommend.

Always happy to come here for a Dosa or Uttapam. Let's of vegan options and the flavour is just on point 👌 Prices have risen quite a bit in the past years and that makes it harder to come.

Lousy customer service. I was alone to they kept me waiting while sending others inside, even though there were empty tables. Food is ok, but very congested place and dirty. I have been to many Savarna Bhavans and this one was by the worst experience.

Very tasty food at a good price. All menu items are vegetarian and many of them are vegan.
