Ordered a vegibiriyani waited 20 minutes, when asked no one knew when the food was to be severed. Ram the duty manager was giving excuses stating that all food is prepared fresh, that it would take 45 min, Imagine 10 people order the same item, how long the wait would be.... The staff is wondering around without any idea of how the service industry works. Walked away to Anjappar, a block away and ordered the same Item... had stop watch running .. lol, it was delivered in 16 min. Hmm... they must have frozen biriyani! This was the experience April 21st 2025. Even if the food was great, & the service and people are bad actors then it leave a bad taste for life. Cheers!

El personal en general me pareció desagradable. Al hacer nuestro pedido, solicitamos cambiar un artículo, pero nos dijeron que no era posible, a pesar de que todavía estábamos en el proceso de pedido. La comida en sí era promedio y no cumplió con las expectativas que tengo basado en experiencias con Saravana Bhavan en la India. Desafortunadamente, esta visita no reflejó los estándares por los que la marca es conocida.

So happy to find this chain restaurant in Frankfurt. It tastes so good and authentic. We had palak paneer, aloo paratha and rawa dosa, and loved them all. Service was a little chaotic.

At the end of the week when you want to unwind at a restaurant with some flavors reminding you of your home town, this was a complete let down. They had the audacity to serve Milk with a tinge of tea powder in the name of "Chai". Lately all my visits to Saravana Bhavan has ended in disappointment. Hope they show some justice for the price they charge.

Every time I’m in Frankfurt, Saravanaa Bhavan is a must-visit. I’ve been here multiple times, and it’s always a great experience. The dosas are an absolute delight – I can’t say how authentic they are since I’m not Indian, but I love the taste regardless. The staff is friendly, the service is quick, and the overall vibe is welcoming. Highly recommended if you're in the area and craving South Indian food.

I have 2 categories for restaurants: never again and yes, gladly again. This judgment is made up of the food, the price and the atmosphere. And for this restaurant the following applies without a doubt: Oh yes, gladly again!! The focus in this case is the good, delicious taste. What is remarkable is that only 2 tables have control over the rather large dining room. The dishes arrived in no time even though every table was occupied by guests. High regard for the service.

Try not to order a takeout. They say 20 to 30 mins but it took 50 mins for 1 uttappa and a biryani

Very bad service. Once the cutlery fell to the floor in front of our eyes and was simply placed on the table. This is very clumsy and unhygienic. You had to call someone yourself every time you ordered. That doesn't work at all. I didn't like it at all.

The food had no salt. It doesn’t taste like the authentic saravana bhavan. Not as expected.

Very inviting atmosphere in an industrial/jungle style. Everything was clean. The service was very attentive! It was always cleaned and tidied up immediately 💯 The food itself was very tasty and fresh. Two friends from Sri Lanka said it tasted like home. So highly recommended!

Good place for indian food and options but for some reason I always get sick with the food as its really oily. If i go there again I would simply stick to the coffee or water

The always reliable place for South Indian vegetarians - Saravanaa Bhavan, Frankfurt

The food is good, but the service is not at all. The waiters are nice, but what good is a starter that comes with the main course? Or when the food in a group arrives for everyone except two and after 30 minutes of waiting - where you have to go and ask yourself because none of the employees noticed anything (there wasn't much going on at all). Then of course I canceled my food... (it's a good thing that everyone in my group had already started eating, otherwise their food would have gotten cold). It's a shame... expect more from a restaurant like this, which is also a chain, never experienced anything like this!

The service at this restaurant was very disappointing. The staff were rude, confused, and completely lacked coordination when serving our group. Food was brought out randomly, with no effort to serve everyone together, and when we tried to ask or clarify, we were met with arrogance rather than any willingness to help. On top of that, the seating arrangement is terrible. Way too many tables are crammed into a small space, making it difficult to move around without bumping into people or chairs. It felt overcrowded and chaotic. As someone who has worked part-time in a restaurant, I understand how demanding the job can be — but respect, basic organization, and a sense of hospitality should still be standard. Unfortunately, this place missed the mark entirely

Food is decent, customer service is very slow especially the manager at the billing counter is busy on phone calls for 10 minutes when customers are waiting in queue to pay bill . Washroom is clean. We visit here regularly because we love the south Indian food here.

**Disappointing Decline in Food Quality** The quality of the food at this restaurant has been decreasing day by day. At the very least, it should justify the money we’re paying. Poor Experience with Multiple Dishes 1. Methu Vada– I ordered methu vada, but they served it cold. Who wants to go to a restaurant and pay 7 euros for cold vada? When I complained, the staff did replace it with hot ones, but this shouldn’t have happened in the first place. 2. Mango Lassi– The lassi had no quality compared to what Saravana Bhavan’s lassi used to be like. It was a huge letdown. 3. Parota – The worst part was the parota—it was half-cooked. The top layer looked burnt, while the inside was still raw (like atta). When I asked the staff to replace it or cook it properly, their response was shocking: - "Even if we replace it, it will be the same." - "If we fry it more, it will burn completely." They offered to either cancel the order or replace it with chapati or poori. I went there specifically to eat parota, paying 9 euros for it, only to be served undercooked food. The worst part? They didn’t even try to make it right—no apology, no effort to serve a properly cooked dish. Final Experience : Frustrated and disappointed, I just paid for the vada and lassi and left the restaurant hungry. Extremely upset with the service and declining food standards.

Food good and not expensive, staff unfortunately mostly unfriendly. Even the walk to the restaurant doesn't make you want to come back.

You can’t choose “not to tip” here even if the service is terrible. The wait was around 15 minutes in the hot sun. Reservations beforehand not possible. The milgaipodi dosa was not crispy as expected. Ghee roast masala dosa was perfect for lunch. Unfortunately they don’t offer soda based lemon drinks or the zero/ light options.

They charge double what UK Saravana Bhavan restaurants charge and: Have double the prices Smaller portions Less Chutney choices Than the UK ones. German Saravana need to up their game.

A classic good food ruined by service quality situation. Food was excellent. That said, the service on table 43 was distasteful. Whoever the female waiter was, she was clearly not having a nice day. She was rude, cold and barely paid any attention to our requests. Sadly had to tip 10% for a service that was below standards. Not going back here again.

The best Indian restaurant in Germany! Here you will find real Indian food. Be aware of longer waiting times during peak times.

I ordered a North Indian thali and it was amazing

In my opinion, the restaurant near Frankfurt main station is the best Indian restaurant with exclusively vegetarian cuisine. In addition to Indian languages, the staff also speaks German and English. The menu is very extensive.

We always love Sarvanaa Bhawan. Wherever we go we try to find Saravanaa Bhawan. We loved the food. We went three over there from 4th Arpil to 10th April. It's totally amazing food. We ordered paper roast ghee Dosa, podi masala Dosa, masala Dosa, kathi rolls, vegetable Hakka noodles, paneer manchurian, Cholle bhature, and many others. All of them were amazingly finger licious.

Price is a bit on the higher side. But the taste is great. So is the ambience. Interior is airy and warm. Service is just okay and it takes a lot of time for the food to be served. For a plate of medu vada we had to wait for long. That masala dosa and coffee hit the spot. The cleanliness and spaciousness of the WC have to be mentioned. The best I have seen in Indian restaurants in Germany.

The food was good, but the service was not that convincing during our visit. There were five of us there and two of our main courses only came after we asked and with a delay of over ten minutes. It wasn't particularly crowded, maybe 40% of the tables were occupied. After the first order, it was difficult to even get a waitress to notice you. We ended up not ordering dessert or any other drinks, but went somewhere else for the rest.

It's a good place for veg southindian food with lots of variety but the quality of the food seems like it keeps deteoriating

Not friendly to Indians, had a very bad experience with the front desk asking Indians to stand out while allowing local families who came in later to come in. Left after standing outside for 20 mins ! It’s not all about the food !

Ever seen a flimsy thin oothapam or a paper like oothapam, this is the place that serves you thin oothapams in Frankfurt. What eh cheap thing to do in the name of cost cutting. Such a poor tasting food and no value for money. The quantity is very very less. Chutneys are of very bad quality. Coffee is never served hot and it doesn't even have a good taste. They just roast your pooris way too much unable to enjoy the food. This restaurant never takes their quality or customer feedback seriously. Just because the restaurant is close to Hauptbahnhof doesn't give them all the rights to serve a very very poor food in terms of quality and quantity. Lack of a good competitor gives them the extra courage to serve shitty food in the name of well known South Indian franchise..!! Waste of money. Poor taste of food !! Idly is very basic and if you can't serve them right please don't call yourself an Indian restaurant guys..!! Worst place ever !!

Just came back from India and it's nice to be able to have a rather good quality dosa.

I wanted to share my experience after trying food from this restaurant. I’ve tried the MASALA DOSA and MULAIKAPODI MASALA DOSA on two separate occasions. Unfortunately, both times I ended up with a severe VIRAL STOMACH INFECTION— including intense stomach pain, vomiting, and stomach upset. To clarify, I’ve had Idli and Aloo Paratha from this place as well, and those didn’t cause any issues. Also, being a Keralite, I’m very familiar with South Indian food and have had Masala Dosa from several restaurants in Germany without any problems. So, I’m really concerned that only here I’ve had such a strong negative reaction — and twice. While I can’t be 100% sure about the cause, my repeated experience with Masala Dosa from this place has made me cautious. I

Worst restaurant ever seen in all of Germany. I've ordered 3 dosas. One of the dosa did not serve and they cancelled it by themselves. And there was the waiter name - Mr.dhanasekar the guy with specs and a moustache. He was very rude. I don't recommend going there. I'm an Indian and they serve very bad management to your indian fellow. The management is the worst. I hope they'll work on their waiter.

Delicious South Indian vegetarian food, just a short walk from Frankfurt Central Station. Nice ambience.

If you’re craving South Indian food, this place is a great choice. But if you’re like me and prefer North Indian cuisine, you might want to look elsewhere. The location is lovely, and the staff speaks Hindi, which makes you feel right at home.

Unfortunately the quality of service and food has declined. We ate here regularly. They take more time for the delivery services (take away) than for the regular guests. Staff is overwhelmed in the kitchen and service. On our last visit we had to wait over an hour for our food because there were many, many, many “take away” orders - the service told us. Since we always order the same thing almost 90% of the time - we see and taste the food - how the quality and taste deteriorates. Unfortunately only quantity instead of quality.

The taste is not even average. Below par. And they want you to wait outside the door (to be seated) even if the tables are empty. Some of the waiters are so unprofessional that they would take your plates before you’ve finished the last bite of your food and that too without asking. Sambhar quantity with all the South Indian dishes is very less.

During my visit, I experience decent customer service; employees are kind, even amidst the busyness, and quick to help each other, especially if a patron needs help with navigating the menu. When the meal arrives at my table, I'm glad to finally eat, the food is decent, I particularly like the spices. Otherwise, I feel like I'm eating ketchup and spaghetti, a classic meal. I like the decor of the restaurant. The eatery accepts different forms of payment.

When we ordered we told them that we didn't have forever. After 30 minutes of waiting we asked and we were told "just ask", after 45 minutes the same game with a rude answer from the staff and we asked for the bill. The waitress then went into the kitchen and told the chef that he should now start making the dish (but we were able to cancel). If you already have such poor work processes, this has to be communicated at least(!) by the service, preferably in a friendly manner. But he was rude and unmotivated!

A total mess!! Surely the brand has some standards but this outlet is ill managed with the staff super confused and the dishes compromised on flavours. Being South Indians we know authentic flavours and here’s our honest feedback and review 1) Mysore masala dosa - the dosa is mellowed down in flavours. The red chutney which is iconic in a mysore masala dosa lacked flavour punch. Overall a miss 2) Sambar vada - soggy uncooked vada dipped in sambar. 3) Buttermilk - a complete letdown. The green chilli flavour was overpowering the drink and I would advise the chef to check the recipe 4) Saravan spcl meals - few dishes like the veg kuruma, vatha kuzhambu were really good. But thats the end of the story. Pooris were thick and doughy and the Payasam was a mess. Our food arrived really late - had to wait 45mins for the meals with no prior notice. The staff was also impatient to clear our tables before we even finished eating. I would highly advise the management to train staff better to be more professional and more patient.

The south indian restaurant located 5 minutes from the main train station is overhyped and is average. Saravana Bhavan has a rich history with its hotels all around the world and this specific hotel does not catch up to its hype. The service is average, the food could definitely be better. I went there with a lot of expectations as being a south indian myself I wanted to eat some good authentic food. Foods I had: 1. Poori - The dough is decent and not very oily. You get Potato sabji and A korma with it. - I would rate it a 3/5 as the dough felt very heavy and the korma was oily. 2. Masala dose - The dose was not the perfect combination of crispy and soft. It was a little too crispy which made it less appealing. - 3/5 3. Parotta - It was very hard and difficult to complete, there was the same Potato and Korma for sides - 2/5.

The waitress (The one who forgets to Smile and be polite) made the entire experience, Very regrettable . As well as the They could serve only half of what we ordered, and that was also not too much. That was just one.dosa and one other dish . At the end, we went away without food. I had a very important appointment and went Hungry to it because of them. At the end, when I had to pay, they did not even feel apologetic about it and said yeah, it is Saturday and it’s common that it happens. I hope this review helps a lot of people, and they think twice before getting their moods spoiled like I did.

This was once a true Indian restaurant, but unfortunately, things have changed—not for the better. Service quality has dipped significantly, with long delays in both dine-in and takeaway orders. Food takes far too long to reach the table, and pre-ordered takeaways (initially promised in 45–50 minutes) now arrive after 1 hour and 15 minutes. If you have plenty of time to spare, you might still consider visiting. However, what was once a convenient stop—where we could dine and catch the next train within an hour—is no longer feasible.

We visited your restaurant today and the staff name, Deepa, was rude and her service was worst I have ever experienced in my life. First, we ordered masala tea again and she asked if we want with sugar to which we said yes. Yeah she was rude while taking our order. But she brought it without sugar. We called her again and asked for sugar. She rudely replied 1 minute and left. Then we requested her to pack our remaining food. She came back with a box and a bag and asked us to do it by ourselves. I have never seen customer doing this in a restaurant. She was unnecessarily rude towards us. Other staff were kind and decent. It's a request to have professional staff.

It would be beneficial if the servers could provide recommendations or descriptions while taking our order from their device. This would not only assist those unfamiliar with Indian cuisine but also promote its rich diversity. We chose four different dishes, all of which were excellent. Our child was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the meal more than we anticipated. The Mango Lassi was particularly refreshing. To top it all off, the tea was the perfect conclusion to our dining experience. I look forward to trying some desserts on our next visit.

I went with my wife, on 22/02/2025. I ordered masala dosa and punjabi kadhai paneer Dosa was good but kadhai paneer was total waste, they provided paneer butter masala gravy with diced capsicum. Even I tried to eat it as paneer butter masala but trust me I was not able to. If you are going for south Indian dishes then it is good but don’t go for North Indian dishes.

Very very worst! I visited Saravana Bhavan, Frankfurt, on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 6:30 PM with my friend. Being from Chennai, I have always loved Saravana Bhavan for its authentic South Indian flavors and quality service. However, my experience at this branch was extremely disappointing. We ordered two plates of parotta, each containing two pieces. While eating, we found an insect in the kurma. I immediately called the server and informed him. He collected the plates and offered to replace the food, but I refused because the same kurma was being served again. He then said he would cancel the order. When I escalated the issue to the in-charge, his response was shockingly careless and unprofessional. Instead of apologizing or addressing the hygiene issue, he just said, "We canceled the food; you don't need to pay." There was no concern for customer safety, no corrective action, and absolutely no accountability. I expect much higher standards from Saravana Bhavan, especially regarding food hygiene and customer service. This experience was unacceptable, and I hope the management takes this matter seriously to ensure better hygiene and staff training. #saravanabhavan

Pedí coliflor manchurian el sabor no era bueno y no parece manchurian. No recomendé a nadie para ir allí. Cuando era estudiante malgasté mi dinero allí y ahora me siento muy mal.

Best Authentic South Indian vegetarian food! Mango lassi must try!

As a person with a passion for food, this place is one of the few places I visit first for the environment as an Indian and after that for the food to serve as nostalgia. Being super critical of the food itself, I doubt I can say that this is the best place for South Indian cuisine or if it’s even at par with its branches in India. Sometimes the food can be an absolute hit and miss too ( My Sambhar Vada today was not fried crisp to what I would expect any Medu Vada to be ). However, does it feel like I’m in India at any other branch of Sarvanaa Bhawan when I step in here? I absolutely do feel that - and it takes away the nuances of the flavour and cooking away for a bit. Is the food terrible? No it isn’t - it’s still a pretty decent place to be at - is it the best? I really won’t say that. However, does it feel like home? To that I can say an absolute yes and this indeed makes it worthwhile.

Pedí una recomendación para un entrante ligero - lo siguiente que sé, me lo sirvieron sin haberlo pedido. Vale, quizá un malentendido. Luego quise pedir un plato que había comido muchas veces antes, me dijeron que tomaría 25 minutos (nunca había escuchado eso antes) y cerraban en 25 minutos, así que básicamente no podía tenerlo. Dije que está bien, lo dejaré. La camarera no se molestó en preguntarle a mi esposo si quería pedir algo y simplemente se fue! Los inodoros apestan, es evidente que los contenedores no se han vaciado durante un tiempo. También me caí en un piso mojado - un compañero del restaurante preguntó si estaba bien, ninguno de los miembros del personal vienen. Creo que me quedaré con Eat Doori en el camino en el futuro previsible.

We visited for the second time during our Frankfurt visit and We had the same experience. First thing they are not bothered about customers, second they cannot keep a track of your order , third they don't show any empathy being mistaken. I had ordered a mini meal and waited around 40 minutes to get my order. In between we asked 2 waitresses about the status of my order, both mentioned we will take a look and get back to you. Nobody came back. After 40 minutes when we asked them again the same waitress said "oh you didn't get your order, let me see" meanwhile I was starving so I asked to cancel my order and ordered mysore dosa. Someone else just threw my order on my table and left. Later we ordered two filtered coffees one with sugar and another without sugar, she served both without sugar. Highly irresponsible attitude towards customers. I would not recommend this restaurant anymore to anyone and would never visit again. Thank you for the best behavior.

It’s worst , Indian don’t expect too much and go here

Forget about their sambar, even the quality of overall food decreased immensely in last 3-5 months. They've becom lazy to even prepare food with better ingredients. It has become absolutely overrated. I have seen this frankfurt sarvana bhavan turning from best to worst in last few years. Please don't even bother to go there. There are better options available in Frankfurt for authentic food instead of this "trying to be authentic" sarvana bhavan.

The worst South Indian food. Please consider, this is not in India

I had very horrible experience with one lady waitress. She simply came to and didn’t say anything, no great and nothing. I asked her that are you here for an order? Unfriendly she said yes. She took order and gone away. It was completely uncomfortable to eat in this restaurant.

The food is always great there is no doubt about it. But the experience got ruined by this waiter who out of the 4 items ordered, messed up 2 of them. And then when some other waiter delivered the food and I told that this is not what I ordered (ordered hakka fried rice got paneer fried rice) the original waiter just sat in the corner on his phone and refused to come and talk. And I know this because they were talking in a language that I understand. I couldn't have ordered paneer fried rice as the person it was for is lactose intolerant. That's how I know i didn't say paneer fried rice.

Favorite Indian. Fine, crispy dosa with excellent fillings, chutneys and side dishes.

The food was good, I believe there should be some pickle Achar with poriz. I asked and they said you have to order it separately. This was something quite awkward since pickel is served in a piece with pori. Overall we liked the taste and ambience was great.

Super delicious Indian food. Unlike other Indians in Germany. The fact that over 80 percent of the visitors are Indian alone speaks for the restaurant. However, the waiting times are very long. Otherwise I would give 5 stars.

The food was tasty but service is poor

We ordered Paper Masala Dosa and Mysore Masala dosa. Service was quick but the staff seems to be confused. The ambience is okay, they tried to adjust too many tables in a small space thus making it congested. The flavor of the Mysore masala was not good and the filling inside the dosa was extra mushy.

Very tasty and authentic. A dream for vegetarians and vegans. The waitresses don't understand German, you have to order in English, but despite our chaotic ordering, everything arrived perfectly and quickly. We were kindly warned about dishes that would take some time. The only small problem were the small tables. But not that bad. And the dishes are somewhat reminiscent of prison. Also super easily accessible location. Will come back and recommend 🤌

It's really not recommended to visit and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It's practically fast food for Tamil and Indian food. The waitress didn't speak German or understandable English, so we could only communicate using numbers to order. The friendliness also left a lot to be desired. There were six of us and we all ordered food. At least 20 minutes passed between the delivery of the first and last dish. As a result, everyone started eating whenever their dish arrived - eating together was hardly possible. Why do you think we're going there together? The dosa was also disappointing. There are definitely plenty of better alternatives.

North Indian Food is totally MTR heat food. Crazy smell they must remove north indian food from their menu.

Best restaurant in whole Germany and Europe as well , Authentic Indian food , service is so fast and good. People working there are so experienced and skillful in their work and the cooks are professional. Really enjoyed the time there. Awesome, I think nobody can replicate them. They are one of their own kind. We will definitely come back again. The food was so good that we ate two times , we ate lunch and again we came back to eat dinner. Once again fantastic in every way. Love the Indian culture, heritage, Indian people and their excellent food and spirituality. Nobody in the world can compete with them. They are so good. Thanks for having us 🙏

The portions were generous and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately the main course was a bit too salty.

Amazing food. Life saver in Frankfurt if you are a visitor. Cannot find vegan/Vegetarian that can satisfy the need for the spice/taste and the kick you desperately need. And top that with filter coffee.

Come here for the best dosas in town! Impeccable taste with a range of South and North Indian cuisines. Restaurant has a 100% vegetarian menu along with a bar. Must try the Mango Lassi. Service may sometimes be influenced by the volume of customers, especially on a weekend. Very close to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof (main station).

Authentic Indian cuisine, very tasty, very attentive and lovely staff.

Food was delicious as usual. Nice and fast service. Clean restaurant

Food was great, had filter coffee and tea and loved the authenticity (filter coffee served in South Indian tumblers) of service. We were too hungry to grab pictures of our meal. We ordered masala dosas and vegetable uttapam. Disappointed that they didn't use gunpowder in Mysore masala dosa. But this is as close as it gets to an authentic Indian vegetarian food experience.

Nunca recomendaría este hotel a otros. La calidad de la comida era muy mala y también tomar demasiado tiempo. Hemos pedido Dosa y otros 3 platos y tenemos todos excepto Dosa que finalmente se sirvió después de esperar más de 40 minutos. Mejor que la dirección cierre este restaurante o que se ocupe de mejorar la calidad y el servicio.

It used to be my favorite Indian Restaurant. But the quality has gone down. The service was never great but now the food is also good anymore. Today the white chutney they were serving tasted like it had gone bad.
