Authentische Küche, preislich angemessen, Karte sehr umfangreich. Essen kommt schnell, fast wie im Schnellrestaurant. Die Atmosphäre hat auch was davon. Das Essen war schmackhaft, Portionen nicht üppig, aber ausreichend. Der Service beschränkt sich die Basis mit Bestellung aufnehmen, Essen und Getränke bringen und kassieren. Bei unseren Besuch war der Service ausschließlich Englisch sprechend.

Be careful getting here. We walked through a part of town that didn’t feel safe. We’d be warned by locals that areas near the station can be a little scary. We got there though and although the signs and plastic flaps you have to walk through (and the staff) aren’t welcoming, the decor is nice and it’s a relaxing environment. We were told when we ordered the wait for food was over 30 minutes. It took about 40 but we were in no rush and drinks were served so it was ok. Food was great. I believe it’s all vegetarian in the restaurant. Ours dishes certainly were. All tasted great and was worth the wait. Reasonably priced as included rice.

You feel comfortable when you sit in the restaurant. In some cases you have to expect longer waiting times because there are a lot of guests there. The paneer butter masala is delicious, but rather spicy for Europeans. The service staff find it difficult to accommodate minor deviations from the dish or an extra request (e.g. more paneer, even if you say you are paying for it). Card payment possible, service staff often don't speak German, but English is no problem.

Saravanaa Bhavan in Frankfurt offers an authentic Indian experience right in the heart of the train station district, but getting there can be a challenge. Finding a parking space is like a game of chance, and the way there leads through a neighborhood characterized by junkies. However, as soon as you enter the restaurant, you immerse yourself in another world - the ambience and the predominantly Indian audience almost make you forget that you are in Germany. The wait staff primarily speaks English, which can be a bit awkward if you don't understand English. The menu is also a bit complicated, but it's worth the effort: everything we ordered was delicious. The food is served in simple, metal trays reminiscent of canteens, but this fits surprisingly well with the overall picture. The taste of the food is excellent, but you should like hot spices because most of the dishes have a decent level of spiciness. Even though I usually like to eat meat, I always like to come here because the vegetarian dishes are simply unbeatably delicious. Saravanaa Bhavan is definitely worth a visit - despite the small challenges surrounding arrival and communication!

We arrived for dinner and were seated promptly. They took our order within a reasonable time period. Then the wait began. Two of us ordered dishes that would take 30 minutes to prepare. Instead of bringing all 4 dishes out at the same time, they brought the first two out promptly after we ordered. Two of us watched the others eat their meals start to finish. We continued to wait for the other two meals for at least 45 minutes. Finally flagged down someone who claimed they would be out in 5 minutes. Our last two meals came out at least 15 minutes later. During our long wait, they never checked in with us to ask if we wanted more to drink. Food was ok, not great. Definitely not worth the wait.

I went to this restaurant on friday 9.00pm 25/10/2024 with 10 people.. Weather was so cold. So, we walked-in to the restaurant whereby so many empty places available in the restaurant.. However, the staff ordered us to wait at outside. I requested to the staff that the weather is so cold at outside and want to wait at the entrance( reception ) of the restaurant because there were 2 senior citizens in my group.. They couldn’t bear the cold weather. The staff rudely ordered us to wait at outside of the restaurant. No humanitarian attitude at all.. We went to another chinese restaurant nearby area who welcomed us with friendly manner. Management should train the staff how to handle this kind of situation in professional way… For sure, we wont go again to this restaurant. We prefer friendly and humble attitude staff…

Delicious food. Wonderful atmosphere. Plenty of dining space. Neat and clean toilets. The traditional South Indian taste. Welcoming staff. We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere.

The best South Indian food I’ve had outside of India! The menu offers a great variety of pure vegetarian dishes, and the location is fantastic—right across from the Hauptbahnhof, making it easily accessible. The area is lively and bustling. Despite the restaurant being spacious, there can still be a bit of a wait on busy days, which shows how popular it is with the locals. However, the service tends to slow down during peak times. I believe adding more staff would help with this.

The sambar and chutney here never fail to impress, consistently delivering rich and authentic flavors. During my visit, I sampled the Ghee Dosa, Parotta, Mini ghee Idly, Idly ,Gobi Manchurian and finished with a classic Filter Coffee—all prepared to perfection. The interior is beautifully decorated, creating a visually pleasing atmosphere that enhances the dining experience. Service was notably efficient and friendly, especially considering the busy weekend rush. Cons : Saturdays tend to be crowded, which can mean long waits outside—especially challenging if you have kids in tow. However, Sundays are more relaxed, making it easier to find a table. To make the most of your visit, it’s wise to plan ahead.

Food was ok, but there was a hair in the food, cutlery wasn't really clean and the staff was a bit overwhelmed and too unfriendly.

Best place to taste South Indian food.,. For takeaway order at least one hour before to get it. Avoid waiting and there no place to sit

Was so excited to see a Sarvanaa Bhavan and looked forward to eating our favorite Dosa. Although they quickly found us a place to sit, the service was extremely poor. Sambar was very salty. Asked a for bottle of water and the new server was more interested in taking away the one empty dish than getting us water. It took two reminders to get the bottle of water. Onion rava dosa had huge onion pieces, there was a greenish chutney with no taste or flavor. Very disappointed.

Highly disappointed with service and communication with the customers. This place might be good for South Indian food but not for other cuisines. We waiting for 50 mins for noodles and chilly paneer although the waitress said we have to wait 20mins only. The noodles was all in broken pieces and not like the noodles should be long enough to be eaten, it felt like eating leftovers noodles. Would not recommend for Chinese food. The service felt neglected and not welcoming as a Indian while the Germans are treated differently by them.

Excellent, authentic food, large selection of dishes, all vegetarian or vegan! Service was unfortunately very impersonal to unfriendly/disinterested. You have to like the loud, hectic station hall atmosphere, but it's definitely not for relaxed dining. The dosas are prepared very quickly. We had to wait over an hour for paneer and dal.

The food was okay, but it didn’t meet our expectations. None of the staff could speak Tamil, even though it’s supposed to be a Tamil restaurant. We visited the Saravanaa Bhavan in Frankfurt on our way to Paris from Denmark. The staff seemed unprofessional and were chatting amongst themselves. I don’t understand why Indian Tamils don’t hire Tamils at their restaurants and instead hire Indians who can’t speak Tamil. We won’t be visiting again. It was a waste of a long drive—we should have gone to Dortmund instead, where we could have at least gotten food from Eelam Tamils, and they would have been able to speak Tamil. We were not impressed by Saravanaa Bhavan Frankfurt. The dosa and roti didn’t taste like what we expected, and it didn’t have the authentic Chennai flavor. The kesari was fine, though.

No friendly staffing, for a service sector a smile is important I visited twice I never felt any difference in that, food is delicious 😋 however no customer friendly

The waiter who was at the entrance was very kind and pleasant. The lady who served us did not seem very interested and helpful. My friend asked for more information about the mentioned dessert, to which the waitress answered quietly in bad English. I didn't get sugar, honey or a spoon with the tea. Certainly because of the pleasant waiter who accommodated us, for which I left a small tip. I can't comment on the food because we didn't eat their specialties. I wish them all the best, the restaurant was full and it looks like they have a lot of work.

I would say the best dosa and filter coffee I have had in Germany. The service was excellent. The prices were very reasonable given the location. The taste was awesome.

I keep going back to this place again and again. Anytime I am in Frankfurt I make sure to visit Saravanaa Bhavan. This place has the best Indian food outside India. Would not recommend the noodles and the other options as much but definitely go for the Indian cuisine. Service was good as well and the stuff are nice and friendly. This places is quite crowded always so might have a queue but nothing too bad. Totally Recommend

The food is interesting and tasty. I do not know much about Indian dishes other than curry so I like their menu. The restaurant is huge so the service can be little off depending on how busy it gets.

Best South Indian food outside India. Wonderful options and pure vegetarian food. The location of the restaurant is the best. It is right opposite the Main Train Station, Hauptbahnhof. A very lively area. There can be long waiting time on busy days inspite of the restaurant being quiet big. This means it's a very popular restaurant with the locals. The service gets slow due to the high rush. I feel they should increase the number of Staff.

Be cautious when the table is allocated. They may make 3 people sit in 2 people table. And then you have to eat with plates in ONE HAND and DRINK in other.

when i politely asked the head lady / waiter to take the order, she showed me her index finger and walked away. not clear what was the reason for that attitude. just say 'i'll be right back'.

My thaali was very good, rice, various breads, raita, rice with beans, rice pudding etc. Very good.

The “manager” was unfriendly and tried too hard to be smart.

The atmosphere is reminiscent of a train station. Loud and hectic. In return you get authentic South Indian food. Very interesting and also very well prepared. The portions are.. ok. But the price is also completely okay. The service wasn't exactly warm. The cozy restaurant is often full. Then you have to wait. I couldn't make a reservation. CONCLUSION: good to try out, but unsuitable for a cozy evening.

The Indian restaurant was amazing! The authentic South Indian food was full of flavor and variety. The dosa was crispy, the sambar was spicy and the chutney was delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. I'll definitely be back!

Its a shame on name of Indian Restaurant. The service is so useless that it makes you question your decision to eat here. The waitress is useless and asks the customer to hold the plate in which she brought the food. Food is also tasteless. Dosa is ok but remaining items are tasteless and for making this shitty food they take forever.

The food was ok. We ordered faloda ice cream and still warm food. They gave the ice cream first even though we had said that the ice cream should come last, then we gave butter roti and after 15 minutes we got dal and again after waiting get the other food. So the service should be a little quick and not so slow. You should bring the food together and not first this and then that. I actually rated this restaurant 0 but because the food was ok, I gave it 1 star.

In a bustling area of Frankfurt, this is a great place to get a bite if you're in the mood for Indian. We had masala dosa and chole bhature. Food was good, prices reasonable. It's a big place and quite full when we were there, but plenty of wait staff. Customers were enjoying themselves over thalis etc. and taking their own time. Seems a great place to hang out or have a quick meal. Would recommend.

Best vegetarian Indian in the city, very large selection and variety, great bread, predominantly South Indian cuisine. So far all the dishes have been well seasoned and the portions are sufficient, the dosa masala was extremely tasty, and I also love the mango lassi. The restaurant seems clean, the waiters are friendly and quick, the food is hot and tasty, absolutely recommended for lovers of Indian cuisine. EDIT: 03/2022 a year later I have to say: The store is awesome. I always enjoy going there, it's always extremely tasty and it just tastes good... EDIT 08/2023: Although the prices have been raised, for me it is still the best and most authentic Indian in Frankfurt

The food taste really depends on the days.. On weekends when it's crowded the food can occasionally be mixed experience. The chutneys can taste milder or sambar feel very mild.

The food was simply delicious. Had the parotta and they were huge. My friend had choley bhatura which was also huge and delicious. A must try if you are in Frankfurt and craving South Indian food!

Have been here multiple times , every time I have always enjoyed the taste of the food. Would recommend only and only South Indian cuisine. Any other cuisine is not worth the money you spend . Service is completely dependent on who is attending your table. This time, we got a lady who was pretty bad at it. Served the already prepared Idly after 20 min and that too it was super cold. To reheat the same, it took them another 10 minutes .. and a simple masala dosa took them more than 35 minutes to deliver

The restaurant has a very nice ambience and aesthetic feel to it. Food is great and it feels like proper south Indian food. Service might not be the best as they have a bit of a carefree attitude with them. Food might be expensive for someone from india but for what you get in Germany, it is very good.

Ein authentisches indisches Restaurant mit halbwegs zivilen Preisen, in dem es leckere, landestypisch gewürzte und auf traditionellen Blechtabletts angerichtete nord- und südindische Speisen gibt. Am liebsten hätte ich alles durchprobiert, musste mich aber auf Idli und Dosai bechränken und schwelgte bei jedem Bissen im Himmel. Das dazu gereichte Rasam (Suppe) schmeckte einfach göttlich. Allein das Mango-Lassi habe ich woanders bereits besser getrunken, aber auch hier fehlte es nicht an den richtigen Gewürzen. Die Tatsache, dass die Kundschaft überwiegend aus Inder/inne/n besteht, spricht für sich. Sollte ich mich wieder nach Frankfurt verirren sollen, wird das Saravanaa Bhavan ganz oben auf meiner To-do-Liste stehen. Bewertung August 2024 (allein): Das Essen ist noch immer sehr gut und authentisch, die Behandlung nicht. Zuletzt ließ man mich (alleinreisend) zehn Minuten in der prallen Mittagshitze vor der Tür des halbleeren Restaurants warten, während mehrere nach mir angekommene indische Gäste durchgewunken und auch sofort bedient wurden. Neben der offenslichtlichen Diskriminierung hat leider auch die Hygiene (Tische, Toiletten) beträchtlich nachgelassen. Die Lage im Bahnhofsviertel - direkt vor mir in der Moselstraße warfen zwei Polizisten eine drogenabhängige, betrunkene Person zu Boden, fesselten sie mit Handschellen und standen zu sechst für die Dauer meines Mittagessens neben dem gerufenen Streifenwagen - passte zum Ambiente diesmal wie das Tüpfelchen aufs "i". Auch wenn's weiterhin schmeckt (aber das tut es auch woanders), würde ich nicht so schnell ins Saravanaa Bhavan zurückkehren. Mit dieser Art von Verhalten vergrault man potentielle (europäische) Stammgäste (auf die man alledings keinen Wert zu legen scheint). Schade!

Service and atmosphere were good but unfortunately can’t say the same thing about the food. There was no masala in masala dosa 🤷🏻‍♂️ , when asked about it, they say this is how they serve it. We didn’t even get pickles or curd with aloo paratha. Came here for authentic food but was disappointed.

We had cravings of Chinese so thought of ordering, Manchurian and Schezwan noodles,its the worst.Please don't order it!!! Also don't go to cuisine except South Indian food!!ITS ONLY RENOWNED FOR AUTHENTIC SOUTH INDIAN FOOD. Also they served Manchurian with rice!! PS- ordered Mysore masala dosa it was good but the potato vegetable was overcooked

Very good quality food and varieties of food items.

We tried Masala dosa, cheese masala dosa and Poori Kurma. We ordered veg noodles take away. All the dosa item was good. The vegetables noodles was really vegetable and noodles cooked there was no spices. I was expecting it to be like we get in item with pepper and noodles fried well in oil. Filter coffee was also okay. Did not remind me of India unfortunately. Hence I rated 3 for food. All of them were edible but not exceptional. I rated the service 3 as when I asked the service person on her recommendation on noodles she bluntly said “I have not eaten any”. I appreciate her honesty however I expect that people who work should know what is loved by their customers and sells well for taste.

Worst Savannah Bhavan experience ever! I’ve visited many Savannah Bhavan locations because I love the food, but this one in Germany was terrible. The restaurant was filthy, with staff not wearing hair nets or maintaining any basic hygiene standards. The restroom was disgusting—no water, no soap, and a terrible odor. The service was equally bad. The staff was rude, unwelcoming, and unprofessional. When I tried to order, they rolled their eyes and acted like I was a nuisance. They even threw the pen at me when I asked for one. Management needs to teach their staff proper hospitality and focus on cleanliness. I will never visit this place again.

As an authentic Indian cuisine connoisseur, I can attest that the taste is like home. The spiciness is medium. Not too little but not too much either. Nice atmosphere, but lots of crockery/utensils are noisy. Staff a bit moody. I found the price to be acceptable for Frankfurt. Will come again and try other dishes.

We've been visiting SB, Frankfurt since last several years. Today was one of our most disappointing lunch barring couple of items. It seems the quality of food is not the same, especially today. We ordered Idlis and they were very bad - It was dry and hard. We had to return but we were served fresh ones which was better than the first. We have had several times Idlis here and it was always great. We would request to first check the state of food before serving. The chutneys and especially sambhar were fabulous. Vada was very good as well. We also ordered a South Indian Thali. Once again the quality was substandard. The Proiyal, Vathal Kozhumbu, raita, payasam was great. Sambhar was not tasty at all. The lady fingers in sambhar were of a bad quality and it clearly seems that the cook did not really care what went into Sambhar and more important how it tasted. The sambhar in the thali was exactly opposite to the good quality sambhar that came with Idli. The Rasam did not have taste and one could taste only turmeric. There is one thing that has been common in all my visits - Kootu and Chana. The taste was just ok to eat but could be improved. Would be great if they do not offer the same Chana that is offered with regular Bhatura/Chappati. Kurma could be a good alternative. Dosas were fabulous and was one of the best we have had at SB, Frankfurt. Finally a bit of sourness made the taste excellent. Filter coffee was great as well. Request the Management to improve the quality as we would love to visit again.

Ambiance and food at the level of a company canteen. Food lukewarm and tasteless and served on a metal tray instead of a plate. At least it is served quickly.

Worst hospitality, either it's Berlin or Frankfurt the staff don't even know how to behave with customer.

All of us felt sick after having lunch. Paneer 65 is paneer pakoda here. It was neither spicy nor sweet just simple salty. Paneer tasted bad as if it was already rotten. Dosa was good but still we had severe stomach ache and acid reflux issue.

Sambar vada and masala dosa was good but not sure why a restaurant like HSB serves store bought frozen parotta. Please stay away from that. Service was average as I had to keep reminding the server about my order and bill.

I had severe stomach pains after eating there. Cheese was most likely expired!!! Never again

They made me and my wife(pregnant) for 45 mins and they fulfilled an large order which was placed after us. Horrible service. They were even servicing too good to go orders but not ours.

We had reserved a table today. When we arrived at the restaurant, the waitress seemed very unsympathetic to us. We weren't even greeted, but directly asked "How many?" addressed (German language was not available). The waitress then sat us down at a table and we received our menus. 2 minutes later the waitress came back to our table and asked if we had already chosen. (We didn't even look at the menu), then the waitress walked away from us with her eyes rolling. Another 3 minutes later this person came back to the table and asked again if we hadn't already chosen. Since we were under a lot of pressure, we quickly chose something from the menu because of the person in question. The food tasted delicious and that was the only positive thing I experienced in this restaurant. When I wanted to pack my dish, one of the employees only complied with my request after repeated requests. Overall, I would not recommend this store to anyone.

Good to find an Indian restaurant in Frankfurt which serves authentic South Indian cuisine.

Food was really delicious. We had North Indian thali, paneer dosa (very well stuffed with paneer), idli, vada and coffee. But the service was terrible. The waitress that waited on our table (nametag - Amandeep) was rude, didn't smile, didn't greet and was very unwelcoming. On top of that, while we were mid of the meal, she slams the bill on the table and asks us to pay (none of us had asked for the cheque yet). Rest, food was really good and other waiters were polite too. Just a poor and hostile service ruins the whole experience.

Good food and atmosphere right int the middle of city center. Enjoyed the filter coffee. However had a bad experience with the service. The waitress called Amandeep was unnecessarily rude, didn't let us finish our coffee and forced us to pay in advance. I think the restaurant needs to train employees about customer service.
