Amazing food. Life saver in Frankfurt if you are a visitor. Cannot find vegan/Vegetarian that can satisfy the need for the spice/taste and the kick you desperately need. And top that with filter coffee.

Come here for the best dosas in town! Impeccable taste with a range of South and North Indian cuisines. Restaurant has a 100% vegetarian menu along with a bar. Must try the Mango Lassi. Service may sometimes be influenced by the volume of customers, especially on a weekend. Very close to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof (main station).

Authentic Indian cuisine, very tasty, very attentive and lovely staff.

Food was great, had filter coffee and tea and loved the authenticity (filter coffee served in South Indian tumblers) of service. We were too hungry to grab pictures of our meal. We ordered masala dosas and vegetable uttapam. Disappointed that they didn't use gunpowder in Mysore masala dosa. But this is as close as it gets to an authentic Indian vegetarian food experience.

It used to be my favorite Indian Restaurant. But the quality has gone down. The service was never great but now the food is also good anymore. Today the white chutney they were serving tasted like it had gone bad.

I've went with my Indian Friend, it was his recommendation and we have eaten already some years ago at their place (prior them moving). We had some Palak Paneer, Garlic Bread. Food was good, four stars. The service however was super unfriendly - waiters who either did not speak English or German, secondly missing plates and cutlery. After asking for more, waiters were worse. So, food is a 3-4. Atmosphere, in this new location, a 3-4. Service was definitely not more than a 2.

Service people don't speak German and speak very poor English. In the kitchen there was no indication of what the starter and main course were. The main meal came first and the starter came at the end. In total we had to wait 1.5 hours after ordering for anything to arrive. Sorry, you deserve more.😤

The food is excellent but sadly that's the only good thing about this establishment. Been visiting here regularly since the last 7 years , before they shifted to this current location and the service and the attitude of the staff is has been constantly and steadily deteorating . The staff is rude, they don't smile, don't respond to any questions , they could be least bothered about anything and that includes the manager, out of whom you generally expect better. Food quality is excellent and the taste is maintained, those were the only things pushing me to go here earlier but after today's service experience or the lack there of has completely put me off Sarvana in Frankfurt. Would not recommend coming here if you love your time and dignity.

Food is quite delicious, though it's a bit too oily. Utensils are unclean, but overall service is good. The sitting arrangements and ambiance are nice.

Visited around Christmas time, the restaurant was jam packed with people waiting outside to get a seat. Taste, impeccable. Service was also good. Only complaint, there was a hair in one of the palya of my thali.

I don’t understand the attitude the servants carries at sarvana bhavan weather it is berlin or Frankfurt. We were eating and the person next to us asked for the bill and the waiteres also gave us our bill which we never asked for. She was in so hurry to finish her work. Also the food , disappointment as always. No one cared to ask us if the food was or not, may be they knew that it was worst. Last visit to sarvana bhavan in Germany. I am done giving chances

It's an authentic place for Indian vegetarian cousin. Specially south indian. Recommend dosa variety, idli and vadai. The south indian meal is very good but too much for 1 person. Thank the management and the chain for being available worldwide. Waiting to come to Helsinki 🙏👌🏻

The food produced, processed and marketed at the facility was exposed to a risk of contamination. The refrigerator table, the aluminum foil dispenser, the refrigerator display case, the door seal of the refrigerator table (mold-like), the hanging shelf, the oven, the rice cooker, the vegetable slicer, the base cabinet, the grill, the door seal of the refrigerator and the stool cooker were contaminated. One of the worst experiences ever! I had ordered Schezwan Noodles, and they were horrible!! It didn't look appealing, but I still thought of tasting it before judging and it was a disaster! Never tasted such a bad dish ever in my lifetime!

Average quality and pathetic customer service

I am a big fan of South Indian food but it is always a good point to taste Filter Coffee as it gives idea to the taste and quality of Food on a holistic level. For me it is a great place to try south Indian food such as Dosa, Idli , Vada there is a wide variety in the Menu and Offcourse the Filter Coffee. One point this is a known place for South Indian food not Chinese and North Indian food.

Restaurant 🍴 was clean 🤙 Employees 😊 Friendly and smiling. Toilet 🚽 clean on the first floor. Therefore not for disabled people. Food 🌯 was very tasty 😋. Greetings from Bergisch. Greet from Germany near Cologne.

This is one of the best vegetarian restaurants I’ve tried in Germany. They offer authentic South Indian dishes, which can be quite hard to find elsewhere. The staff is exceptionally friendly, adding to the overall experience. However, it can get quite crowded during peak hours, so be prepared for the possibility of a long queue outside.

My friend and I entered this restaurant. The waiter invited us to the table, but suddenly one manager blocked the way with the words "what do u want" and looked at us as if we had stolen his wallet. We wanted to eat, that's y we came, chutia. However the food was good, we ordered Masala Dosa and I liked it

Food is decent taste, overall service needs to improve

We ate there for the first and last time today, unfortunately very disappointing the service seemed unmotivated and unfriendly. Unfortunately we could only order dosa because it was the only thing that was relatively quick and we were told that we would have to wait over 45 minutes for other dishes. Upon request, we spoke to the manager and explained to him that the service was not okay, unfortunately he didn't even care and didn't even offer an apology or an explanation - a very disappointing impression

Please don’t order North Indian dishes. Not worth it

Unfortunately, the visit to the Indian restaurant was disappointing. The friendliness of the employees should be highlighted positively - the staff were always polite. However, it was noticeable that despite there being a large number of employees, many of them just stood around instead of clearing the tables and making space. The prices are on the higher side, which unfortunately is not reflected in the quality of the food or the service. After the visit, we all struggled with stomach aches, which further marred the experience. Although the restaurant chain is internationally known, I unfortunately cannot recommend this location. There are significantly better Indian restaurants in the area that offer a better combination of quality and value for money.

Always a treat to eat in the Sarvanaa Bhavan! Have been to almost all the branches in Europe and it has never disappointed me. The staff also have always been friendly and courteous :) I went again today (for the 100000th time) and I forgot my water bottle. They safely kept it aside. Thank you for storing my water bottle 🙂

Food is so tasteless! I love the ambience(one if the best), location, service reasonable good. But very unfortunately that the basic most thing is ignored- Taste of food. I have recently tried Indian Chinese cuisines, ordered a lot but didn’t eat because it wasn’t upto mark. See the pic of hakka noodles. Rava dosa was also disappointing.

This used to be my go-to place if I craved South Indian food. Not anymore. I expected it to be better than the Berlin branch, but this is worse in my opinion. Of all the food we ordered, Papadam was the best. This was my last visit to any of the Sarvana Bhavan branches in Germany.

Very tasty Indian cuisine that is, above all, different from what you are used to in Germany. That alone is worth a visit. The service seems very annoyed and not very motivated. The invoice did not come when requested. When paying at the counter, the manager (recognizable by his sign on his chest) made me wait for 5 minutes because he gave a higher priority to a private conversation with someone I knew. That's better.

I ordered sambar vada but its not what it supposed to be. And i asked them if they had sent me some other dish but they mentioned it is sambar vada and they are doing it in same way since 15 years. And also quality and quantity was drastically lowered. Not worth visiting any more

Always a great meal here! Great place to try Indian food if you’re not familiar. They have a very extensive menu (English versions available if needed). The dosas are amazing! A few times here the service has been slow, that’s why it’s 4/5. Overall I highly recommend!

Tasty, well seasoned Overwhelmingly long map Definitely based on western tastes. Quality is good but I think I made a bad choice I would advise against ordering the pancakes with Gouda. Way too much cheese in an already rather greasy dish. And especially if several things are ordered, I would only take one fried dish. Will go there again

Authentische Küche, preislich angemessen, Karte sehr umfangreich. Essen kommt schnell, fast wie im Schnellrestaurant. Die Atmosphäre hat auch was davon. Das Essen war schmackhaft, Portionen nicht üppig, aber ausreichend. Der Service beschränkt sich die Basis mit Bestellung aufnehmen, Essen und Getränke bringen und kassieren. Bei unseren Besuch war der Service ausschließlich Englisch sprechend.

Best vegetarian Indian in the city, very large selection and variety, great bread, predominantly South Indian cuisine. So far all the dishes have been well seasoned and the portions are sufficient, the dosa masala was extremely tasty, and I also love the mango lassi. The restaurant seems clean, the waiters are friendly and quick, the food is hot and tasty, absolutely recommended for lovers of Indian cuisine. EDIT: 03/2022 a year later I have to say: The store is awesome. I always enjoy going there, it's always extremely tasty and it just tastes good... EDIT 08/2023: Although the prices have been raised, for me it is still the best and most authentic Indian in Frankfurt EDIT 11/2024: For me it is still one of the best Indian restaurants in Frankfurt, even after so many years I still like to go there again and again. I can recommend the North Indian Thali

Sometimes too crowded but good food and decent staff .

If you wanted to have authentic south Indian vegetarian dishes, then this is the place you have been looking for. I love their Service and taste of the item is also as good as you had in India. I would strongly recommend this place, and their "Ghee Roast Dhosa"-its worth to try it.

Ten cuidado al llegar. Caminamos por una parte de la ciudad que no se sentía segura. Los lugareños nos advierten que las zonas cercanas a la estación pueden dar un poco de miedo. Llegamos allí y aunque las señales y solapas de plástico que tienes que caminar (y el personal) no son acogedores, la decoración es agradable y es un ambiente relajante. Nos dijeron que cuando pedimos la espera para la comida era más de 30 minutos. Tardamos unos 40, pero no teníamos prisa y se sirvieron bebidas, así que estaba bien. La comida era genial. Creo que todo es vegetariano en el restaurante. Nuestros platos ciertamente lo eran. Todo sabía muy bien y valió la pena la espera. Precio razonable como arroz incluido.

I want to express my disappointment with 1 star. I have never seen vegetable Manchurian that bad. We went to Saravanaa Bhavan Frankfurt on Sunday (03.11.24). We ordered Dosa and Vegetable Manchurian. We ate Dosa but couldn't manage to finish Manchurian so we took it home. We tried it today. It was worst Manchurian ever. The bolls were not cooked at all from inside. They were very hard I couldn't eat it. It tastes like only like flour. I am sharing pictures and video. Kindly respond to this review. I need to complain to food safety department. It is not right that you are serving food like this.

This is my second visit after 4 years! There are lot of negative review online so was little worried. But overall the experince was good. Food arrived on time and staff was friendly.

If you're looking for authentic Indian cuisine (Vorsucht, no chicken masala), this is the place for you. Real Indian cuisine, without any western adaptation. Really good curries. The food alone makes me give it a high rating. The rather negative thing is that you often have to wait a long time and that food doesn't come together.

Customers have no value at all Management instead of convincing the customer, discuss and not a word of forgiveness. Maybe it's because there is only a restaurant in ffm. They have to know that the customer pays their wages. No customers, no income! It was the last round for our family

You feel comfortable when you sit in the restaurant. In some cases you have to expect longer waiting times because there are a lot of guests there. The paneer butter masala is delicious, but rather spicy for Europeans. The service staff find it difficult to accommodate minor deviations from the dish or an extra request (e.g. more paneer, even if you say you are paying for it). Card payment possible, service staff often don't speak German, but English is no problem.

Saravanaa Bhavan in Frankfurt offers an authentic Indian experience right in the heart of the train station district, but getting there can be a challenge. Finding a parking space is like a game of chance, and the way there leads through a neighborhood characterized by junkies. However, as soon as you enter the restaurant, you immerse yourself in another world - the ambience and the predominantly Indian audience almost make you forget that you are in Germany. The wait staff primarily speaks English, which can be a bit awkward if you don't understand English. The menu is also a bit complicated, but it's worth the effort: everything we ordered was delicious. The food is served in simple, metal trays reminiscent of canteens, but this fits surprisingly well with the overall picture. The taste of the food is excellent, but you should like hot spices because most of the dishes have a decent level of spiciness. Even though I usually like to eat meat, I always like to come here because the vegetarian dishes are simply unbeatably delicious. Saravanaa Bhavan is definitely worth a visit - despite the small challenges surrounding arrival and communication!

Llegamos a cenar y nos sentamos rápidamente. Tomaron nuestro pedido en un plazo razonable. Entonces comenzó la espera. Dos de nosotros pedimos platos que tardarían 30 minutos en prepararse. En lugar de sacar los 4 platos al mismo tiempo, sacaron los dos primeros inmediatamente después de que pedimos. Dos de nosotros vimos a los otros comer sus comidas de principio a fin. Seguimos esperando las otras dos comidas durante al menos 45 minutos. Finalmente, marcó a alguien que dijo que estaría fuera en 5 minutos. Nuestras dos últimas comidas salieron al menos 15 minutos después. Durante nuestra larga espera, nunca se registraron con nosotros para preguntar si queríamos más bebida. La comida estaba bien, no muy bien. Definitivamente no vale la pena esperar.

I went to this restaurant on friday 9.00pm 25/10/2024 with 10 people.. Weather was so cold. So, we walked-in to the restaurant whereby so many empty places available in the restaurant.. However, the staff ordered us to wait at outside. I requested to the staff that the weather is so cold at outside and want to wait at the entrance( reception ) of the restaurant because there were 2 senior citizens in my group.. They couldn’t bear the cold weather. The staff rudely ordered us to wait at outside of the restaurant. No humanitarian attitude at all.. We went to another chinese restaurant nearby area who welcomed us with friendly manner. Management should train the staff how to handle this kind of situation in professional way… For sure, we wont go again to this restaurant. We prefer friendly and humble attitude staff…

The best South Indian food I’ve had outside of India! The menu offers a great variety of pure vegetarian dishes, and the location is fantastic—right across from the Hauptbahnhof, making it easily accessible. The area is lively and bustling. Despite the restaurant being spacious, there can still be a bit of a wait on busy days, which shows how popular it is with the locals. However, the service tends to slow down during peak times. I believe adding more staff would help with this.

The sambar and chutney here never fail to impress, consistently delivering rich and authentic flavors. During my visit, I sampled the Ghee Dosa, Parotta, Mini ghee Idly, Idly ,Gobi Manchurian and finished with a classic Filter Coffee—all prepared to perfection. Service was notably efficient and friendly, especially considering the busy weekend rush. Cons : Saturdays tend to be crowded, which can mean long waits outside—especially challenging if you have kids in tow. However, Sundays are more relaxed, making it easier to find a table. To make the most of your visit, it’s wise to plan ahead.

Was so excited to see a Sarvanaa Bhavan and looked forward to eating our favorite Dosa. Although they quickly found us a place to sit, the service was extremely poor. Sambar was very salty. Asked a for bottle of water and the new server was more interested in taking away the one empty dish than getting us water. It took two reminders to get the bottle of water. Onion rava dosa had huge onion pieces, there was a greenish chutney with no taste or flavor. Very disappointed.

Great food, dog friendly, cosy atmosphere.

Highly disappointed with service and communication with the customers. This place might be good for South Indian food but not for other cuisines. We waiting for 50 mins for noodles and chilly paneer although the waitress said we have to wait 20mins only. The noodles was all in broken pieces and not like the noodles should be long enough to be eaten, it felt like eating leftovers noodles. Would not recommend for Chinese food. The service felt neglected and not welcoming as a Indian while the Germans are treated differently by them.

Excellent, authentic food, large selection of dishes, all vegetarian or vegan! Service was unfortunately very impersonal to unfriendly/disinterested. You have to like the loud, hectic station hall atmosphere, but it's definitely not for relaxed dining. The dosas are prepared very quickly. We had to wait over an hour for paneer and dal.

The food was okay, but it didn’t meet our expectations. None of the staff could speak Tamil, even though it’s supposed to be a Tamil restaurant. We visited the Saravanaa Bhavan in Frankfurt on our way to Paris from Denmark. The staff seemed unprofessional and were chatting amongst themselves. I don’t understand why Indian Tamils don’t hire Tamils at their restaurants and instead hire Indians who can’t speak Tamil. We won’t be visiting again. It was a waste of a long drive—we should have gone to Dortmund instead, where we could have at least gotten food from Eelam Tamils, and they would have been able to speak Tamil. We were not impressed by Saravanaa Bhavan Frankfurt. The dosa and roti didn’t taste like what we expected, and it didn’t have the authentic Chennai flavor. The kesari was fine, though.

The waiter who was at the entrance was very kind and pleasant. The lady who served us did not seem very interested and helpful. My friend asked for more information about the mentioned dessert, to which the waitress answered quietly in bad English. I didn't get sugar, honey or a spoon with the tea. Certainly because of the pleasant waiter who accommodated us, for which I left a small tip. I can't comment on the food because we didn't eat their specialties. I wish them all the best, the restaurant was full and it looks like they have a lot of work.

I keep going back to this place again and again. Anytime I am in Frankfurt I make sure to visit Saravanaa Bhavan. This place has the best Indian food outside India. Would not recommend the noodles and the other options as much but definitely go for the Indian cuisine. Service was good as well and the stuff are nice and friendly. This places is quite crowded always so might have a queue but nothing too bad. Totally Recommend

The food is interesting and tasty. I do not know much about Indian dishes other than curry so I like their menu. The restaurant is huge so the service can be little off depending on how busy it gets.
