Saloon Altenahr in Altenahr

A superb location and friendly, competent service. The wine was delicious!

Last weekend, a group of three girls and I went to the Western Saloon for dinner and breakfast. Even though we only knew the old decor (before the flood) from photos, we can say that we really liked the new furniture, decor, etc. Very harmonious, with warm tones. The service was excellent: the waiters were friendly and efficient, and the owners were super nice (we immediately fell in love with them). Although it was very busy, we didn't wait long for our drinks and food. Quite the opposite. Everything was truly to our satisfaction. We felt very comfortable here – and that wasn't just because of the delicious wine ;-) The evening we were there, a DJ was playing in the restaurant – in keeping with the Altenahr wine festival – so you could immediately associate dinner with a party atmosphere. Therefore, I can't make an objective statement about the noise level :-) We also liked that. In addition to dinner, we also went there twice for breakfast. The breakfast buffet wasn't huge, but absolutely sufficient. We didn't miss a thing. We'll be back next year and spend a weekend in Altenahr, and a visit to the Western Saloon is a must for us. I'll be back in three weeks and stop here after the hike. I'm already looking forward to it :-)

What a wonderful meal we had. Thank you for that. After a beautiful hike to the Are Castle ruins, we had a good appetite. We'd love to come back.

Unfortunately, I didn't like the place at all. No one could explain why the DJ had to play the music so loudly during dinner time. I also find it questionable that he had to smoke while doing it. I found it extremely unpleasant.

The price-quality ratio is poor. The fries were undercooked and the schnitzel wasn't cooked properly. The breadcrumbs were mushy. We did get new fries, but they were barely any better. A shame for such a nice restaurant, but I wouldn't go back.

Very good food and fair prices, and the terrace on the Ahr River is very inviting. PS: Only the side dish portion (great fried potatoes) could be a bit larger.

Went there yesterday for the second time after hiking. Super friendly waiters, a very cool atmosphere, and excellent food! 👍 A definite recommendation.

I've been here several times on my motorcycle tours for a glass of wine – today we first stopped in for a drink and then later for dinner. A very nice shop, tastefully decorated, with a winter garden and currently a beer garden. Service is friendly and prompt, the food came quickly and was very tasty. Prices are reasonable and fair! We'll be stopping by more often! Now all that's left is to make the Ahr Valley and Altenahr region truly beautiful again (unfortunately, it's still very damaged in many places...)

Fresh burgers, fast service, fair prices. They only ran out of mayonnaise. Otherwise, delicious.

Nice ambience. Unfortunately, all the food was prepared from convenience products. The salad was fresh with ready-made dressing. Unfortunately. When we asked (I had asked in the kitchen), the waitress told us that the sauces weren't homemade. I returned half. Unfortunately, I have to write here again because the answer is incorrect. The gentleman told me at the end in a very unfriendly voice that everything is prepared with fresh products, a different statement from the friendly lady, who gave a substantial answer. I hope the waitress doesn't get into trouble.

Hmm, how should I rate this restaurant? I'll actually limit myself to the service and the feeling of welcome. No friendly smile, a rude greeting. A waiter smoking in the winter garden, and a table occupied only by the service staff. Grim faces and no feeling of being welcome. A shame.

I had lunch today at a wonderful new restaurant, Saloon Foods & Drinks in Alenahr. The view from the patio is stunning. The lunch was delicious. I'll definitely eat here again.

There were four of us dining and we received a very friendly welcome. The service was always friendly. The restaurant is very nice. The semi-open terrace is great and the wine is excellent. The food was also good. All in all, a lovely evening. We'll probably have to come again. 😀

Ambiente ist schön und angenehm. Entgegen der Versicherung des Personals bestand das Pfefferschnitzel aus Formfleisch und einer Tütensauce. Bratkartoffeln waren einfache zerschnittene Pellkartoffeln, über die einige Schinken Würfel und etwas Petersilie geworfen wurde. Schade, daß Lokal werden wir von der Liste streichen....

A truly beautiful restaurant. Tastefully and modernly decorated. The conservatory is a dream. There is additional seating on the terrace and inside. The staff is very friendly. A thoroughly successful reopening after the terrible floods in 2021. We wish you continued success.

It's a pretty good place to eat. Everything was good. But it wasn't 5-star. Service was quick and friendly. The atmosphere was really good, but a bit noisy because of the street. All in all, it's a good place to go. I'd give it a tentative recommendation.

Very nice ambiance despite the surrounding flood-affected area. It's certainly not easy to establish a business base here again. We used to enjoy hiking around the area. Today we overcame our fears, and after a great hike with many views of the beautiful nature and the hard-working helpers in the reconstruction, we were happy to stop by here, as everything seemed very friendly and inviting. We tried the vegetarian burger and were absolutely thrilled. A revelation. So delicious. We'll definitely be back to see if the burger pairs well with wine 😊

What a fantastic visit to the saloon! The food arrived incredibly quickly and was absolutely delicious – every bite was a delight. The value for money is truly outstanding; everything here is just perfect. The service was super friendly and attentive, and you immediately feel welcome. And the wonderful, harmonious ambiance – a perfect blend of comfort and style. We will definitely be back and can wholeheartedly recommend the saloon. A true highlight!

So far I've only had a delicious Kölsch, but with the friendly service it was definitely perfect!

We were there for lunch on Sunday. Unfortunately, the jacket potato with salad didn't impress us. The salad wasn't fresh and wasn't cleaned well. Some of the leaves were extremely wilted, with brown spots on the lighter ones. There was hardly any dressing. The potato was dry with a small dollop of crème fraîche. We complained but had to pay full price. The waiter said he'd pass it on, as one can learn from mistakes. We get a point for that, as well as for the pleasant atmosphere inside. But this restaurant is no longer an option for us. Re: Your feedback. We were definitely not offered any compensation, nor was there a deduction for the salad on the bill.

One of the best restaurants I have visited. The meal was excellent. The staff very attentive and friendly.

The food was a disaster! The Saloons burger ordered medium was completely done with a tiny portion of cold fries, the crispy chicken burger was very dry. We waited forever for our drinks even though the restaurant was almost empty. Otherwise, the waitresses just stood in the way, so you had to slalom to go to the toilet. The waitress smoked in the restaurant!!! Even though there was someone else eating at our table, people were already clearing away and asking for dessert. The chocolate soufflé and vanilla ice cream looked and tasted like they had been bought frozen at the supermarket. Unfortunately, the promised liquid core was not liquid. Never again, although we were really looking forward to it and the atmosphere is great!!

We happened to be in the Ahrtal or the saloon on the day of the reopening. The staff was competent and friendly. The food came quickly and was delicious. For me it was the saloon burger. Gladly again.

Wow, if I can recommend a restaurant it would be this one, after the reopening since the flood everything has improved and perfected again. The winter garden is beautifully designed, not to mention the restaurant, the ambience creates a cozy atmosphere and you feel comfortable. Very modern design and plenty of space for many guests. The staff is very courteous and friendly, professional and determined. I can only recommend them, whether for a coffee or a romantic dinner.

A very successful festival, despite the capricious weather. The restaurant was beautifully prepared after the flood disaster. All respect to everyone involved in the reconstruction. The restaurant is definitely recommended. A big compliment to everyone working here.

Stopped spontaneously and absolutely loved it! We were also provided with a parking space 👍 Service was quick and super friendly, the taste of the kitchen was convincing, and the price was right! We can absolutely recommend the T-Bone Steak and would love to come back!

Nice and cozy restaurant with very friendly and courteous staff

After the devastating flood, this restaurant has been beautifully rebuilt. Everything is nice and new, a nice large terrace where you can relax in this beautiful weather. Beautiful view of the ah and the ruin. The service is good and the food was excellent! We will definitely come again!

We stayed at the Hotel Lang and were given the opportunity to book breakfast in the saloon next door. The price was absolutely fair and even though we were the only breakfast guests on the first day, we were treated with great care and great selection, which made us really happy. The breakfast was really delicious. We were served very courteously and attentively and felt completely at home. We will definitely come back again. Thank you for the great service!

We came here spontaneously after a hike in the vineyards. The burger was very tasty and the atmosphere was very relaxed and pleasant. What we were particularly happy about was that we were allowed to bring our dogs with us! We'd love to come back and the freshly tapped Warsteiner tastes great!

We've often been there for something to eat and drink after hiking. But after the reopening I like it even better. There is a pleasant atmosphere, the decor is very nice, you can sit inside, in a large winter garden or outside. We enjoyed the food, the staff were very friendly (my son smashed a glass and a friendly employee immediately came with a dustpan) and special (children's) requests were also taken into account. With 2 adults and 3 children we paid just under 85 euros with food and drink, that's really clear. We will definitely come here more often.

After an 8 km walk past the Ahr and its construction sites, I was in good hands to eat in the Altenahr Saloon I chose a schnitzel "Viennese style" with fried potatoes and a side salad, a cold drink and a coffee ☕️ at the end I had a break Tasty design 😆😂 (putting it funny) Nonsense aside: I was greeted warmly on the terrace in sunshine and pleasant temperatures and served to my complete satisfaction 😉😎 Food was fresh and good, staff attentive and friendly, will come back next time with my family. Then another 8 km back to the parked car and off to the foothills where I have lived for almost 64 years. 😉👍

We were passing through and looked at the Ahr Valley. Came across this beautiful, modern restaurant. The staff was very friendly, attentive and competent and the food was very tasty. Super beautifully done - right on the water and both the restaurant and terrace as well as the spacious winter garden invite you to enjoy and linger.

There are 4 stars because the staff was so super nice. The food didn't really convince me, but that also means there's still room for improvement. I had Cheesy Fries, which were supposed to be fries with a cheese sauce on top but it was clearly hollandaise sauce. My neighbors' plates looked so-so. Still a very nice shop with a large terrace. I wish you the best of luck now after the rebuild🙏 If done correctly it is a gold mine.
