Salin in Bad Reichenhall

The location is very nice, but the Sunday brunch is disastrous, even for €30 per person.

We only had a small meal, but it was delicious and very reasonably priced. We really liked the ambiance and interior, and we also found the generally quiet atmosphere very pleasant.

A lovely restaurant in a great location. The service was attentive and friendly. Most of the dishes looked really appealing, but not everything tasted great. I'm still looking for the mango in the salmon tartare, but maybe it was hidden somewhere in the sauce. What's completely unacceptable and goes against every chef's code of honor is cooking a veal schnitzel in a deep fryer – for €27! You could taste it, and you could even see the pattern of the fryer basket on the breading – horrible! The potatoes on the side were neither good nor freshly prepared. The dessert, unfortunately, was a similar story. I can't recommend a visit.

Super friendly service, a truly exceptional ambiance both inside and out, and a wide variety of dishes, from vegan to meat to snacks, with something for every taste and appetite. The drinks selection also leaves nothing to be desired.

The Salin is a truly exceptional venue: spacious, with very high ceilings, warm lighting, tasteful decor, and very pleasant, quiet acoustics. The menu consists of a fairly limited number of dishes, but everything is of very good quality and tastefully prepared. Compared to other restaurants in Bad Reichenhall, it therefore receives good to very good ratings. Two or three more main courses on the menu might not be a bad idea.

The location and ambiance are very good. The service was also decent. Unfortunately, the two vegetarian dishes were a bit lacking. The cauliflower with three strips of beetroot was simply too little for the price and rather bland in flavor. The vegetarian paella was too dry, almost impossible to swallow without a drink.

The view of Prediktstuhl and the courtyard of the old saltworks with its impressive architecture is wonderful in itself. Add to that the excellent food. Unfortunately, I have to deduct a star. The interior has been rearranged, and the lovely, comfortable armchairs along the wall outside have been removed. Apparently, there's a change of ownership/tenant. It's a shame they serve hot food until 3:00 p.m. and then only from 5:00 p.m. onward. The service staff could have been a bit more attentive and friendly. Except for the young lady.

On Wednesday, three of us went to Salin Essen. A friend recommended the fried chicken salad, so I went there for dinner. And it was worth it. An absolute delicacy – in my opinion. The chicken was juicy and tender, the salad crisp, and the dressing so good that I ordered more. The service was professional and friendly, and despite the long walk, we were pleasantly surprised by how quickly all the food arrived. The bruschetta was also delicious. Thank you, we'll be back.

We stopped by SALIN for a delicious coffee and cappuccino and were immediately captivated by the ambiance. We didn't eat anything, but the menus coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. We just had to wait a bit...

Due to a long wait in front of the Alte Saline (Old Salt Works) in Bad Reichenhall, we rather unintentionally visited the "Salin" restaurant on the grounds of the Alte Saline on August 2, 2025. The very high ceilings with their magnificent wooden beamed roofs impressed us immediately upon entering. The bright and spacious ambiance with plenty of space around the tables rounded off the impression. The waitress greeted us with a smile 😃 and immediately showed us to a free table. The menu was brought immediately, along with the drinks. The fried chicken salad we ordered was very generous and simply delicious. Highly recommended.

The entire hall was empty, but I was still able to get the table I liked! What kind of service????? I'll never go there and will advise all my friends against it! Mrs. L.

It's such a shame that the potential here isn't being utilized. The outdoor terrace is beautiful, with a view of the saltworks. The menu promises good quality at reasonable prices. We were accordingly high on expectations. However, the actual experience doesn't live up to expectations. The service is very poor, which shouldn't happen in this price range. The food is okay, but nothing more. It's a shame, everything seemed very promising.

We don't like large portions, but the portions that were brought in were truly tiny. The gentlemen who served us came across as bored and arrogant. The only bright spot was the super-friendly female waitress. The atmosphere was wonderful...

We've been here several times to eat and have a drink on the nice terrace, so we decided to have Easter brunch at Salin. We arrived and unfortunately there was nothing really decorated for Easter, no flowers at the table or a bunny or eggs for the reserved number of people. It was like a brunch on any other day, but it had little to do with an Easter brunch. The price was €37 (!) and there wasn't even a glass of Prosecco included, we've never experienced anything like that at this price. You weren't even served your first coffee, let alone at least a carafe of water. The selection was anything but Easter-like, no tweezers, no lamb, just colorful eggs. The pastries weren't of good quality either. Otherwise there was sausage, cheese, vegetables, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, white sausage and curry and soup. So there's really nothing special that justifies this price in any way. You couldn't order an omelet or pancakes. We were really extremely disappointed and it seems to us that the same was the case with the others. There simply has to be a lot more in it for this price or the price would have been reduced. This experience really made us angry and we won't be coming again, neither will our friends. Unfortunately, that was really a step in the toilet!

I worked as a DJ at a wedding in Salin. The location is perfect for a get together at a wedding. The atmosphere is appealing and everything fits together very well. The main course that evening was sirloin of beef on jus with parsnip puree and brokoli. The meat was of top quality and the doneness was perfect. The puree and vegetables tasted very good. The strong and delicious jus rounded off the whole menu perfectly. All guests were visibly satisfied. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Always worth a recommendation!!

We were guests at Salin and ordered Tarte Tatin as well as coffee and black tea. The expensive Tarte Tatin was a single sticky lump (in my opinion, cheap frozen goods) covered with sticky sugar cream. The tea water was lukewarm, the loose tea was manageable and there was no taste of tea at all (almost EUR 5.00 per cup). As we were clearing away the waitress asked us if we liked it, we all said no, unfortunately she didn't care at all. We asked her to pass on our complaint to the kitchen, later we asked her about the reaction and she said, "oh the chef...no idea.. with that..." We paid full price and were very disappointed. Never again Salin in Bad Reichenhall. This location was an absolute flop for us.

Die Damen im Service waren nicht sonderlich motiviert und wirkten genervt, als wir in den Innenbereich gewechselt sind, da uns zu kalt war. Die Gerichte waren nichts Außergewöhnliches und nur in Ordnung. Wir würden ehrlicherweise nicht mehr wiederkommen, da wir uns mehr erhofft haben.

We were there on my birthday in March 2024. The ambience is fantastic, great atmosphere. The ladies in service weren't particularly motivated and seemed annoyed when we moved indoors because we were too cold. The dishes were nothing exceptional and just OK. We honestly wouldn't come back because we were hoping for more.

A restaurant with a beautiful terrace, especially in summer it's just great to sit and relax there. This restaurant has everything from meat to classic to vegan. Great, I like coming here.

I was disappointed with the New Year's Eve dinner at Salin. The menu did not meet expectations, lacking the quality and variety one would expect for such an occasion. The staff's level of English was very poor, making communication difficult. They were not empathetic, failed to communicate important details upfront, and seemed unprepared for the event. Adding to the frustration, some tables were placed right by the entrance door, which kept opening constantly throughout the evening. This made the experience uncomfortable and far from enjoyable. Overall, it was not the celebration we had hoped for, and improvements are definitely needed.

Tolles Ambiente, das war‘s dann aber auch schon. Hatten reserviert und erwähnten dies. Per Fingerzeig wurde uns der Tisch gezeigt, kein Willkommen, kein Guten Abend. Erster Gedanke: in jedem Fast-Food-Restaurant wird man freundlicher begrüßt. OK, Freundlichkeit und dem Gast das Gefühl zu geben, willkommen zu sein darf man heutzutage nicht überbewerten, ist halt so. Andererseits denke ich, dann lieber Selbstbedienung, da weiß man wenigstens woran man ist. Nachdem einem dann immerhin reichlich Zeit gegeben wird, die sehr überschaubare Speisekarte zu studieren, erlebt man eine weitere Überraschung: Bei der Bestellung der Gerichte erfährt man: „Haxe ist aus“, na gut , dann halt den Saibling und bekommt dann zu hören „ist auch aus“. Kann man das nicht schon von vorne herein mitteilen? OK, Erwartungen wieder einmal zu hoch geschraubt, selber Schuld. Trotz nach unten angepassten Erwartungen erneute Überraschung beim Hauptgang. Das sog. Rib-Eye Steak war eher ein in Streifen geschnittenes undefinierbares Rindfleisch. Der panierte Zander schmeckte ausschließlich nach Panade und unterliegt geschmacklich dem Schlemmerfilet von Iglo bei weitem ohne letzteres herausheben zu wollen. Alles in allem waren die Speisen dennoch essbar und akzeptabel, konnten aber das Prädikat „ durchschnittlich“ leider nicht ganz erreichen. Nachfragen, ob man noch weitere Getränke bestellen möchte, Fehlanzeige. Selbst als man bezahlen möchte, kein Personal weit und breit zu sehen. Geht man schließlich an den Tresen, um zu bezahlen wird man darauf hingewiesen, dass man gerade bei der Abrechnung ( und Geld zählen) sei und dann schon jemand an den Tisch komme. Unglaublich, und insofern fast schon wieder lustig und empfehlenswert.😀?!

Ambiance is very nice, the rest is more than expandable. The staff was unfriendly and bored, and the so-called Wiener Schnitzel, tough and bland, was hidden under a flaky breading. I've been there a few times in the last few years, but now I won't go there anymore.

After visiting the Alte Saline, I had dinner in the Salin restaurant. At the time of the visit, a weekday afternoon, there were plenty of tables available. Reservation is not required. The food was of good quality, so I can recommend the restaurant.

The offer is located in the middle of the traditional Alte Saline factory site and is accessible from the street. It's a great, fresh and modern concept. The menu offers vegan and vegetarian dishes and is delicious. I'd love to come back.

We ate here today after visiting the salt works. First we ordered drinks and children's spaghetti for the dwarf... And then we studied the menu. The kids' food came quickly, the drinks (1 bottle of water) took a little longer and cutlery was only available upon request. The pasta for the dwarf came with everything that no child would want on the pasta, sauce, cheese and greens, and we had to ask for coffee spoons and cake forks. The concept of “children’s food” really doesn’t make sense to me here. It was only after the third request that our main courses were included, Caesar salad with turkey and salad with grilled cheese. The grilled cheese with salad was delicious, the Cesar was just as salty as the brine from Berchtesgaden. I should then choose another dish because the next Cesar would also be so salty... I also have to say that I season myself with salt so that no one else eats it, so in the meantime I leave the salting to my companion, or even to myself If it's far too salty, then it was extreme.... In short, today the reputation and reviews here have not been lived up to almost across the board. I'm going to eat a kebab or something now.

Super schönes Ambiente in einer historischen Architektur in Bad Reichenhall. Toller Service, das Essen ist leider durchschnittlich aufgewärmt.

Wir kommen seit 2020. seither mehrfacher Pächterwechsel, immer weiter ging’s bergab. Heute der Gipfel: Ein „Steak vom Angus-Rind vom Grill“ wurde bestellt, zu 27,90€. Es wurde serviert: Zwei Scheiben (Endstücke) von einem Stück Fleisch heruntergeschnitten, zäh und ungenießbar. Ein Steak soll das sein, aha. Eher die gewöhnungsbedürftige Interpretation davon. Wie machen die das eigentlich?Es war „Medium“ bestellt. Wird da ein Steak medium gebraten und dann zwei Stücke abgeschnitten, der Rest wird weitergebraten, falls jemand“well done“ bestellt? … Als Ersatz wurde ein Kalbsschnitzel Wiener Art bestellt. Viel zu dick geschnitten, die Panade fiel entgegen und ließ das nackerte Fleisch auf dem Teller zurück. Grausam. Meine Wenigkeit hatte einen guten - ganzen immerhin - gebratenen Saibling. Die Laune des Freundes allerdings dahin. Die Krönung: Beim Zahlen fiel dem Freund die nicht nachvollziehbare Summe auf. Heutzutage muss man offenbar die Rechnung extra verlangen, so tat er das, mit dem Ergebnis, dass ein „zutiefst betrübter“…Kellner leider einen Wein vom Nachbartisch auf unsere Rechnung setzte, ganz aus Versehen natürlich… Fazit: Bei diesem „Erlebnis“ der besonderen Art kam uns immer wieder das Wort „Betrug“ in den Sinn. Vermutlich gaaaaanz unbegründet. Nie wieder „Salin, Bad Reichenhall „!

Rarely eaten so deliciously! Prices are great and the portions are just right. For the first time in a long time where there was a different choice for vegetarian dishes and they didn't just leave out the meat. Great evening, I can only recommend it!

Great coffee with a great ambience, but service unfortunately poor. The waitress came very late to serve us, even after being spoken to and paying it took forever. You need a lot of time and patience.

Service top and location also very nice. Unfortunately, the Schupfnudeln didn't fill me up. Maybe a salad or something similar would have been nice. The sauce was ok. The dish was ok, but I wouldn't order it again. The burger was probably very good and was a sufficient portion. Would go again but choose a different dish.

A wonderful ambience on the site of the old saltworks in Bad Reichenhall. The service was attentive, polite and unobtrusive. The food tasted excellent, I was missing vegetables in the dish (Schupfnudel with chicken). My husband liked the schnitzel, the potatoes were ok, but we also missed the vegetables for this dish. Es war auch unser Lieblingsrestaurant in Bad Reichenhall. Es war immer eine Freude hierher zu kommen. Was geblieben ist ist der schöne Park, was völlig verloren gegangen ist, das ist die gute Qualität der Speisen. Wiener-Schnitzel ging zurück, schmeckte nur nach altem Fett, dass auch den Shrimps und den Kalamari zum Verhängnis wurden. Das Ersatz-Rumpsteak versalzen, der Beilagen-Salat roh, ohne Dressing nur mit Aceto Balsamico betupft! So ist das nichts (mehr) für uns!

The location and the ambience are great. The portions relatively small. Unfortunately the breakfast was a disappointment. It actually tasted good. However, at breakfast there were 3 rolls, jam and a piece of butter. It doesn't work at all. When we wanted more toppings we were brought a whole plate and charged for it. Afterwards it was presented in such a way that we had ordered it, but if we had said exactly that it wasn't enough for us we would have gotten it for free... Won't be coming back any time soon! Update: upon leaving we were told that the packaged jams had been re-introduced that day and new guests were already getting an additional jam. Nevertheless, there was no apology or we were still told that we had “wrongly” asked for more jam or something similar. If even the service noticed that it was probably too little, they could have at least given a short apology or given the extra plate for free. It wasn't a shame that such a small thing ruined the meal

Great atmosphere - the restaurant is housed in a former brewhouse. This means it is very large but still has a good atmosphere. Food was very good, service was also very nice.

It was always my favorite place, it was such a nice place with nice staff and great breakfast... Unfortunately, it has now gone downhill with a new operator - bad foreign staff, miserable and overpriced food, disgusting Wieninger beer... Very unfortunate...

We went for the third test meal today. This time vegetarian. Conclusion: Very bad. Fish from the freezer and without Würzburg. Salad with tofu. Tofu sour and inedible. Spaghetti a la arrabita without any seasoning. The waitress wanted to inform the kitchen, but no response. Price total approx. 93 € including, three spritzers.

A very special ambience awaits you in the Salin. After our tour of the Alte Saline, we treated ourselves to a glass of Radler and stayed for lunch. The Bradhandel salad with pumpkin and radish was a culinary delight. Since the weather cooperated, we enjoyed our delicacies outside on the terrace. We appreciated the nice hospitality and will definitely come back. Thank you ♥️

It's rare to have such a nice ambience - the place is really nice and the service is very friendly 😀Unfortunately the food (spinach lasagne) wasn't good - it was served in a bowl that was much too small - it was hardly seasoned and very, very dry - I think that Chef forgot béchamel sauce & cheese. That was really a shame! I will still come back in the hope that the kitchen will be better...

Unfortunately very disappointed, we wanted to celebrate a birthday here and we still remembered that breakfast was top in this restaurant a few years ago. So we made a reservation at this location. There were a few things that lead to negative reviews: The butter had been expired for more than a month. The orders were taken incorrectly four times, and when we brought them we were then harshly shouted at and told to order correctly, and we said it clearly. The specially ordered side dishes were only brought after repeated requests, which took about 20 minutes. The menu is also very, very limited, you can choose from four different offers, although two of them were just standard versions. There are also only light rolls, which in my opinion is not enough for a restaurant that offers breakfast. The sanitary facilities are also very dirty from the day before (paper is in the sink). Unfortunately we were very disappointed, we will definitely never come back and would advise against this breakfast.

A location worth seeing...but definitely not for culinary delights and enjoyment...apart from the fact that it is far too expensive for normal cuisine without "extras", the taste leaves a lot to be desired. Ready-made sauce, salad without dressing, dripping in pumpkin seed oil, instead of fried chicken it was schnitzel...the question becomes: did it taste good, left out to be on the safe side...plus the change in brewery isn't really a positive thing...

Good food in a nice atmosphere at a fair price.

We wanted to give the restaurant another chance on our wedding day. That was a mistake. Such a nice place. Still. The service was friendly but totally unprofessional. The place had so much potential. The chicken thigh fillet was well seasoned but lukewarm. Unfortunately the glass noodles have no taste. But warm. The type of beer was changed ☹️ very, very sad. We have the feeling that nothing will happen anymore.

Nice spacious place, delicious food at fair prices, very friendly staff and fast service. The only problem was that my risotto came so incredibly hot that I burned my tongue and had to wait several minutes for it to cool down until I could finally start eating.

Price performance absolutely not justified. With the schnitzel for just under €23, there was a canned potato salad that couldn't taste more artificial. The burger tasted old and dry. In total we wasted €47 for 2 people - this would have been better spent elsewhere. I'm absolutely disappointed.

Nachdem das Salin viele Jahre unser Lieblingsrestaurant war, waren wir heute von der neuen Speisekarte unter dem neuen Pächter sehr enttäuscht. Der Burger war qualitativ und geschmacklich um Welten schlechter als früher, die meisten Gerichte sind Standard, Besonderheiten sucht man auf der Karte vergebens. Es gibt kein Schönramer Bier mehr und auch keinen Baruli Kaffee. Sehr schade, dass auch hier die bisher hervorragende Qualität gegen günstigere Preise und das übliche Standardessen eingetauscht wurden. Traurig für Bad Reichenhall und diese bisher so gute Location.

The food, location and service were just great. I can only recommend it to everyone. Dinner was a great pleasure for me.

What happened to the salt? We had a short break from visiting and suddenly everything is different... The previous tenants or owners are no longer there. They WERE fantastic, great service. Now the menu is completely different, no more bento, few vegetarian or vegan dishes. In my "necessity" I ordered cauliflower with broccoli in hollandaise sauce. Everything cooked soft with lots of sauce. Not particularly tasty. The young lady who tries hard speaks little German. It is difficult to have a conversation and provide information. This will definitely get different/better over time. My husband's goulash soup was okay. The rosé wine was great. Overall, we are sad that things have changed so much. We were absolute regulars for 11 years and obviously missed the change. May it improve.
