Sakura Sushi in Wuppertal

Very disappointing! The food was not tasty at all, and the presentation was simply unappetizing. We ordered sushi with North Atlantic crab, but instead received two portions of shrimp – and they weren't even fried. Unfortunately, we only noticed this when we got home. I really cannot recommend this restaurant. Zero stars!

A very good sushi and seafood restaurant. Interestingly, there are two owners in the same building, and customers are served by two different waiters depending on their order. As for the food: everything is fresh and delicious; highly recommended.

I love this place! Delicious, always fresh! No matter where I've eaten so far, it doesn't come close to Sakura Sushi. My friends, whom I brought with me, were also impressed. 100% recommend it! Many thanks to the chefs and staff!

We were passing through and stopped in based on the reviews. It was a busy Saturday night. Unfortunately, the sushi was completely unappealing and poorly made. We also ordered grilled fish, but the salmon was half-raw. The salmon itself wasn't very good, either – very fatty. I felt a bit underwhelmed afterward. The tea was just ordinary – one tea bag for the whole pot – it felt like water. I'd give the waiters a 5 – they were friendly and always smiling. Even though we live close by, we won't be going back.

The food is delicious. The atmosphere is pleasant. There are a lot of people. But since I ordered sushi and waited over an hour ☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻 This is terrible, sorry. When I started to figure out where the order was, everyone was very surprised ☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻 But the paper with the order was found in the trash ☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻 After sorting it out, the order was brought in less than 10 minutes. Best sushi in the region. Service varies depending on the staff. Most are great/top-notch. The ambiance fluctuates between a tiled snack bar (front) and a dark but historic restaurant (back left/as seen from the entrance). The parking situation is a disaster and completely out of proportion to the number of seats. 8-10 in the front, 10 in the back?! Be careful! The model home project next door (unfortunately, rightfully) is being towed away! The same applies across the street (beer garden). Conclusion: Great place, amazing food... but far too few parking spaces.

The excellent food for which Sakura Sushi is known was also available last night. Only the ginger served was already dried out. Unfortunately, the poor service ruined the overall impression. Despite having a reservation, no one knew which table we were supposed to get. Initially, the five of us were seated at a table for ten. After a while, during which no one even asked us about our drink preferences, an annoyed waiter came and asked us who had given us permission to sit there. When we pointed him to his colleague, he went to another table, asked the two guests sitting there to sit somewhere else, and asked us to sit at their (previous) table. We were eventually able to order. Unfortunately, my plate wasn't completely clean, nor was the table. The food was good. But during the meal, we waited in vain for the chance to order more drinks. When we finally did, the drink wasn't brought. We were very disappointed, especially since we had raved about the food to our guests. In any case, the service was worse than at a cheap diner. We paid €144 for five people.

Employees aren't answering the phone. You can't order anything online anymore, so unfortunately you have to call. We've been trying to reach you for over an hour and a half. We've called at least 30 times. The line was hung up, disconnected, and suddenly the line was engaged. We tried for an hour and a half. We'll take our money elsewhere if you don't feel like it!

Very tasty fried fish with fried potatoes and Danish remoulade, and a fresh 1664. The portions are okay, but the quality is really good.

We were often very satisfied. Today, however, the pickled ginger absolutely stank. It smelled like a kitchen rag that had been used for too long. Disgusting.

Whenever we drive through Wuppertal Nord (A46) around midday, it's a must!

Good sushi and varied menu. Sometimes a bit slow service but it is a busy restaurant and that is not without reason.

I ate two fried fish with very lukewarm rice and a 0.7-liter bottle of water for €45. Yes, restaurants have to charge for that. The costs are high. I understand that. But it's too expensive for me. For the same money, I currently buy 7 kg of fresh German white asparagus. I can make my whole family happy with that. And I haven't eaten at a better snack bar. The service was very good.

Super delicious, but you should pre-order by phone and take the sushi with you. It's in a smokehouse, and it smells like it's freshly smoked, but it's VERY tasty and definitely worth the price.

I'd say it's the best sushi in all of Wuppertal. Everything is freshly prepared by nice people and watching is expressly desired... But the salmon smokehouse with its many fish options is also a dream. The photo shows fried herring and pollack fillet. A dream.

The entire staff is very friendly and explains how things work there. At Sakura's everything took a little longer, the waiter seemed to be alone. but: the wait is worth it! The menu is dominated by salmon (of course there are still various other types of fish). By the way, it was the best salmon I've eaten in sushi restaurants for many years! If the other dishes are of similar quality, you can order anything without hesitation and won't be disappointed :-) We will definitely come back and plan a stop when we drive past Wuppertal!

The sushi is great, but the service—as far as the sushi people are concerned—is cold. I recently ordered sushi from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM. At 9:25 PM, I got a call saying sushi was out... what's up with that?

I have tried many sushi shops in Wuppertal. The best classic sushi in Wuppertal is available here. So there is still really good CLASSIC sushi here, not all those baked rolls etc. The sushi tastes really excellent. It's a little more expensive but definitely worth the price. The service staff is really fast and well organized. Sakura Sushi shares space with the fish smokehouse, so you have more than enough space to sit. The chairs alone are a bit hard to sit on, hence a star deduction. Take-away orders are also prepared super quickly and freshly. Really a recommendation if you want to eat really good classic sushi.

Der Wakame Salat war großartig! Die Maki nit Aal waren mit etwas ketchupartigem übergossen. Das mag ich leider gar nicht. Sie waren schlecht gerollt und haben sich sofort geöffnet. Die Maki mit Thunfisch waren okay. Beides war auf einem kleinen Teller mit Absplitterungen angerichtet. Ein kleines alkoholfreies Bier plus Wakame pus 12 Maki für rund 20€. Das war es nicht wert.

I love this store!! I've been here several times and recently often with a friend. The food is incredibly tasty and fresh and the service is simply amazing!🤩 Sidra is a really great waitress!! We haven't had such friendly, open and friendly service in ages!! We were very happy when she was back today🫶🏼 she definitely deserves a good tip!! We look forward to the next visits, this will be our regular sushi restaurant!

One of the best sushi shops in the Ruhr area - located near the A46 near Ikea in Wuppertal. The preparation and presentation are great. The fish is super fresh.

On New Year's Eve we ordered sushi worth €58.20. I also picked up food for my sister-in-law, which was worth €12.50. Food will be picked up at 5:00 p.m. There were already a lot of people standing with me in front of the counter. I picked up the things and paid for them and drove home in a good mood. When I got home I discovered that both orders were completely wrong! Now we had a bill of €70, but we ate food that we didn't like at all and that wouldn't have been enough for 4 people. Of course, Sakura was no longer available and no one responded by email. I am very disappointed with the restaurant as there is no response at all. At least two other people must have received the wrong food that evening. Now they were perhaps a little more logical than we were, since we had ordered a larger amount of food. I can only urge everyone to check their food CAREFULLY when they pick it up, even if this leads to longer waiting times and even larger crowds, as the restaurant assumes no responsibility for food that is delivered completely incorrectly.

Service was good! Unfortunately, not really the sushi. Price performance too expensive for the quality. We ordered different types of sushi. From sashimi to rolls. Especially with the sashimi, some pieces smelled clearly of fish. This shouldn't happen with fresh sushi.

We had tempura and sashimi, nigiri, and some sushi rolls. Tempura was a bit mushi. It was not crispy fresh, but the sushi was better than expected and went down well with the cold beer. Will return for sure.

Since we live close by, we often pick up our sushi here. It is the best place for quality sushi. Unfortunately, over time we noticed that the rolls in particular (Philadelphia, Nordsee, Midori, etc.) were getting smaller and smaller, but the price was gradually increased. Rolls that were previously so big and thick that you could hardly fit them in your mouth are now only half as big. Price increases are now normal, but unfortunately, in my opinion, cutting the product in half is not possible. Too bad!!!

As a long-time all-you-can-eat sushi eater from Okinii, I may not have been completely full afterward, but the quality was significantly better than the Okinii in Essen, for example. But I have to admit that their quality has declined over the years. Sakura, just stay like that, then the customers will be very satisfied and will definitely come back. There wasn't even an apology or 10% off the next order... 50km for free, the last time before last, 10 nigiri were forgotten, but I still turned a blind eye to that. A pity! The food was so delicious again. My husband and I weren't that hungry and unfortunately couldn't order the smaller portions of Kibbeling as a children's plate or a senior plate. So we shared a normal portion and it was perfectly enough for the 2 of us.

The sushi was very tasty and fresh, but 5 stars + But what is not possible are dirty and damaged plates! The edge was still dirty with wasabi residue from the previous model. I mentioned it when I paid, but no one was interested.

The soup was disgusting in taste and appearance, the sushi was not fresh at all, and the rice was completely unacceptable.

Sushi have good quality. However, there are not enough waiters. Man is simply ignored. Plan an hour if you want to eat sushi. I went during break and had to wait 30 minutes for my order. The sushi are prepared very tasty and a large selection is offered. The North Sea crab Oiter Rolls are currently my favorites, and I can also recommend the filled crab dumplings as an appetizer.
