Safi Bollywood in Dresden

We were in Dresden over the weekend and ate here, among other places. I have no idea where some of the bad reviews come from. The menu is clear, the prices are more than fair, and the food was simple but consistently delicious. Whether it was the starters, chicken, lamb, or vegetarian, we had a variety of everything and there was nothing to complain about. One of the best was the mango shake, which could also pass for dessert 🙂 All in all, we found the ambiance to be more "Indian" than other comparable restaurants around Alaunstraße. The relaxed and very friendly service alone was worth the visit; nothing seems to faze this guy 😉

The lamb was tough and marbled, the curry was bland, and the naan was dry. The ambiance is what it is. The menu is also small—just a snack bar.

We came here because of the good reviews. After our visit, we really wondered how they came about... The naan was dry and hard, with hardly any garlic. The dishes weren't particularly tasty either, quite bland, and my hands were a bit rubbery. The appetizers were okay; the fried vegetables consisted of potatoes and eggplant, but that was it. The price/performance ratio wasn't really convincing. Even when adding up the costs, the good man immediately added a tip for himself.

The food is high-quality, simple, nutritious and not heavy. But it took a very long time to prepare. I had to wait 20 minutes. Inexpensive. The waiter is very nice and pleasant. He was constantly humming, and when I asked what he was singing, he gave me a little concert. Very nice 😘

The food was good. The service... a bit oddly cheerful :) but nice. Generally, for Bollywood-style food, it's a bit too European, but tasty.

Personal opinion: Compared to many other Indian restaurants, it's not particularly tasty. The service isn't particularly friendly.

An absolute recommendation for oriental, and not just Indian, food. Located in the heart of Neustadt at Alaunpark, on the corner of Bischofsweg, you can expect Bollywood in the heart of Dresden. Fairly priced for the exquisite location, despite rising rents, etc. The owner often serves himself, is almost always available for more than just small talk, and is a true part of the neighborhood's interior. One tiny criticism is the location, which deserves a renovation and a bit more attention. However, most of them are also available to passersby for free or for a small fee. Some of the outside seating is also suitable.

For the main course, the pan-seared scallops were cooked to perfection — tender and buttery, resting on a bed of lemon risotto that was equally impressive. And the dessert? The molten chocolate cake was divine, with just the right amount of sweetness and a silky ganache center. It’s rare to find a place where every detail is so well-executed — from the ambiance and service to the culinary artistry. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just indulging in a memorable night out, this restaurant is a must-visit. We left already planning our return. Truly a five-star gem. The food served is with limited and only possible options. Not like others with lots of options, where every item tastes the same. The food quality is good.

Had a mango lassi and chicken biryani. The lassi was delicious and not too sweet. And the biryani was also very good, although I had to wait a bit long for it, so 4 out of 5.

Rock solid. Gets what you expect

We reserved a table here for a special occasion. Unfortunately, when we arrived we immediately noticed that no table had been reserved and that it wasn't nicely decorated (despite what I had asked on the phone). The menu is pretty straightforward - there is a wide selection of dishes, but I like fish and seafood and unfortunately none of that was on the menu. The wine selection could also be bigger - there is only one red and one white as dry wines and no rosé wine, which I like. What was good was that all the dishes were tasty, the wines were also perfectly fine and the service was very friendly. The atmosphere was very cozy and luckily it was quiet that day. Unfortunately there was no dessert at the end, even though it was on the menu.

The service was very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious—not particularly fancy, but really good for the price. The only downside: our chairs were almost falling apart. We must have picked the wrong spot. ^^ But it's definitely worth a visit.

It's labeled as Indian Restaurant but indeed it's a Pakistani Restaurant and run by Pakistani origin German citizen. He is very humble, funny and nice guy. I enjoy every time I visit Dresden and his Restaurant for Dinner.

The food was okay, unfortunately it just had nothing to do with the food we ordered. Unfortunately, Chicken Tikka only tasted like tomato sauce without any spices, the Garlic Naan was a baked pita (no similarity to Naan), the Butter Chicken was the best but also very poor in spices and the Paneer Pakora were quite good. However, the service was very good and you felt comfortable :)

The two of us were there spontaneously on a Saturday evening. It was perfect all around. The food was really exceptionally tasty and was only surpassed by the great waiter. We were definitely not here for the last time.

Always worth a visit! The prices can't be beat and the food is fantastic! While you're there and sitting inside, take a look at the walls :-) And as if that wasn't good enough, we always receive extremely friendly service. Regarding the prices, I would like to say: Here in Northern Hesse you pay at least 50% more per dish, sometimes even twice as much.

It's hard to clearly rate this place. The food was good, but I have eaten better. It was a long wait for the meal. The waiter was very nice. however, he was also in no particular hurry with the service. The most adequate rating in my opinion is 3.5. Unfortunately, there is no such thing, so I give it 4 as encouragement.

Small but nice card. We had lamb curry and chicken tandoori. Both tasted very good and the owner was very friendly. We redeemed a voucher from the Neo app and, despite specifying cash payment, we were exceptionally allowed to pay by card. We'd love to come back when we're in Dresden again.
