A rustic restaurant with a varied menu (German cuisine, but also pizza and pasta). We had local food, and it was really delicious!

Unfortunately, I can't rate the food. We had a reservation, but the doors were closed. No advance notice. Apparently, they're just letting customers down. Apparently, they don't need well-heeled customers.

The perfect venue for our wedding. Food, service, staff, location—everything was absolutely top-notch!

We hosted a funeral service at the Runkelkrug and would like to share our experience. Positive: The sandwiches were truly delicious, and the hall itself is beautiful and spacious. Negative: Unfortunately, the rest was rather disappointing. The gooseberry meringue cake we ordered was simply not served. Only upon inquiry did we learn that it wasn't available – however, an alternative was not offered. For such a sensitive ceremony, we would have expected significantly more attention and service. The table setting also lacked any appreciation: no tablecloths, no flowers, no loving decorations whatsoever. Everything seemed carelessly prepared and without effort. Afterward, we passed on our criticism by phone. Unfortunately, the response was rather unsatisfactory, and no real solutions or insights were offered. For a price of around €20 per person, we would have expected a significantly higher level of professionalism and care. Conclusion: Anyone planning a funeral service should carefully consider whether the Runkelkrug is the right choice. Unfortunately, the respectful environment and reliable support that one needs in such a difficult moment were not available here.

Very friendly service and delicious food

We gathered at this restaurant for a large family birthday party. The group consisted of around 30 people, including children. We tested the restaurant and selected it with a taster meal. The surroundings, with their lovely terrace and playground, were perfect for us, so we made a reservation after a briefing. When we arrived, we were seated in the regular restaurant area, despite our large group. There was a private room available, but it wasn't available for us. Unfortunately, we weren't allowed to try the entire menu as a group because the kitchen couldn't accommodate it. We weren't told this at the taster meal, so we were only allowed to choose from a selection approved by the restaurant. It should be noted that the restaurant was far from fully booked, and the question arose: what would happen if a full restaurant approached the kitchen with food requests? When we inquired, the response was rather annoyed and incomprehensible: "What would we miss?" From that point on, the mood was subdued, and we felt rather unwelcome. The drinks were delayed, and ordering food was also a bit slow. Unfortunately, the service was rather irritated by our group, who actually just wanted to have a nice evening. Unfortunately, the food didn't arrive together as we'd hoped, but rather in stages, so the shared meal didn't quite work out. Opinions about the food were rather mixed. According to the service, the burgers should always be cooked all the way through, but unfortunately, they weren't always cooked all the way through, which is especially problematic for a pregnant woman. In summary, the location and the restaurant make an inviting impression overall. Unfortunately, the significant reduction in the menu, which was not agreed upon, and the irritated service put a damper on what should have been a nice evening. Perhaps we were just unlucky and caught a bad or difficult day, but we'll probably plan our next family celebration somewhere else.

The waitress that day was awful! She was incredibly unfriendly! She was clearly not in the right profession. She had a total slacker attitude!

Negative: My main course consisted of chicken burgers with fries. The fries were unsalted, and the burgers served at the table tasted a bit dry due to the lack of sauce. While they do serve gravy, which you can add, it wouldn't have been the same if the burger itself had sauce. For drinks, we were given a glass with mold on it. When we mentioned it to the server, they seemed very disinterested and annoyed. Dessert was creme brulee, which I didn't generally enjoy, but the mango that was served with it was sour and inedible. I couldn't shake the mango taste all evening. The server generally seemed overwhelmed. Positive: The burgers were tasty despite the lack of sauce.

Very inviting from the outside but the service is unfriendly; you are shown to your table and given the menu and are asked to decide on your meal in 2 minutes. When the order was on the table, I have to say, there was very little seasoning and very small portions for a lot of money.

We were a group of ten people dining at the restaurant. The food was consistently delicious and enjoyed by everyone – unfortunately, the flow wasn't quite smooth. The dishes arrived at different times, so some started eating while others were still waiting. One meal was initially forgotten and only delivered much later. The service was mixed – friendly in tone, but not particularly attentive. Overall, we would rate the service between satisfactory and adequate. Arminia Bielefeld was playing that evening. Although the dining room was only a quarter full, our polite request to play the game without the sound was met with a rather curt "no" – unfortunately, without further explanation or willingness to discuss. Another issue was how to deal with the gluten intolerance of a person in our group. We had announced this in advance by phone and even brought our own gluten-free rolls for safety reasons. Nevertheless, the waitress seemed surprised and reacted somewhat rudely, pointing out that such things had to be communicated in advance – which, as mentioned, had already been done. Overall, it was a pleasant evening with good food, but there were some avoidable weaknesses in service and communication. We hope that some improvements can be made in this area.

I've been to this restaurant several times. Although reservations are recommended, we usually went spontaneously and always managed to get a seat. The food is delicious, and the service is fast and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The food is really very good and delicious. The service is excellent and very helpful. Unfortunately, the ambiance in the newly renovated part seems a bit too clean. But aside from that, an evening there is highly recommended.

A homely restaurant with excellent cuisine and a lovely beer garden. Dining rooms of varying sizes are available for family celebrations, with friendly service. The rooms are also accessible for people with limited mobility. Hospitality is still alive and well here. We'd be happy to return.

Das Essen war unterirdisch! Für den Preis das Geld nicht Wert. Essen war kalt und das Fleisch des Burgers zäh und hatte keinen Geschmack. Ketchup und Mayo aus Tüten. Krombacherbesteckbecher auf dem Tisch Grundsätzlich hat das Lokal Potenzial, es fehlt hier die Liebe zum Detail in sehr vielen Belangen. Es sollte Geld für ein Upgrade investiert werden. Vernünftige Tischgarnitur, abgestimmte Deko, Einheitliche Kleidung für die Kellner. Der Spielplatz ist völlig marode und sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Kein Licht auf der Toilette Positiv ist der Service: Sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Tagesempfehlung wurde erwähnt. Wasser für den Hund wurde angeboten

Today I went out to eat with my wife. The food was very tasty and the meat was cooked to perfection. I had three different dishes from the grill. My wife had the Runkelkrug salad plate, which was really big and she really enjoyed it. I paid 70 euros for both, including three drinks and a tip.

The private party with a buffet was superbly organized. The food was delicious, and the service was superb and prompt. Unfortunately, it was quite loud given the number of people and the space.

We were there for a birthday party. The food was OK, but unfortunately, we didn't like the atmosphere. During a cozy meal, the noise level was significantly too high (hall acoustics), even though the room was only partially occupied, making it difficult to fully enjoy the delicious food. Even normal conversation was very difficult. The service was friendly, and the food was served promptly.

Pleasant restaurant with a great beer garden and ample parking. The service is prompt and everything moves quickly. The menu is quite straightforward, but you're sure to find something. The dishes are marked with symbols for vegan, gluten-free, and vegetarian. A striking feature is the fairly large dessert selection. In addition to "German cuisine," there is also a small selection of pizzas. The food arrives quickly. The portions are "normal" sized and we enjoyed them. It's not an inexpensive restaurant, but the overall package is good, so the price-performance ratio is decent. The restaurant is worth a visit, especially when the weather is good for a trip to the beer garden. The beer garden also has a small adventure playground; so there's plenty of variety for active young guests. My tip: Give it a try!

The Runkelkrug is nicely decorated, and the beer garden is very inviting in the summer. The food (veggie burger) was okay.

Great service, great food in a beautiful location outside of town. The beer garden looks great, although we sat inside. What's a bit tricky is the parking situation, as it was so busy today that there were no spaces left, and we had to park in the side streets.

We had dinner on Sunday, April 27th, 2025. Seven with 3 children. The food was fantastic, the waiter was super friendly. The children could go outside to the playground. We felt completely comfortable!

The burger is simply overpriced and the paddy is either frozen or pre-made for a long time. A disappointment for the price. The pizza was solid. The beer was tasty. As I said, the price is and remains an announcement.

Crispy fries, delicious burgers, salads, pizzas, meat dishes and bedside tables. Everything tasty and plentiful. The beer garden is nicer than the dining rooms. Although the rooms were also clean and tidy, the service is attentive and the people there are nice. Whether you meet there after work after 5 p.m. or ride your bike is up to you. The Runkelkrug is centrally located and easy to reach.

It was our first time here, the staff was super nice and worked quickly. Every wish was fulfilled. Unfortunately, it is not entirely barrier-free for people with visual impairments; the lighting conditions in the toilets and when washing hands are not sufficient.

Sehr gut. Waren zur Tauffeier. Lecker essen, gute Preise. Eigener Bereich für uns. Buffet aber für alle. Gibt nix zu meckern. Man kann auch mit denen reden und auf die eigene Feier anpassen. Tischdeko wird auch gestellt. Der Aussenbereich ist überdacht und super für die Kinder. Vorausgesetzt da sitzen keine Leute. Das Buffet ist vorne an der Theke.

We were in the Runkelkrug again, even without City for Two. Price performance is very good. Service attentive. Unfortunately, the first time and now again, there was a hesitant response when we wanted small changes to the dishes on offer. Given the prices offered, this should be possible without any problems. Conclusion we will be back.

Unfortunately I came back. Mid-January 2025. And again I was very disappointed by both the quality of the food and the inattentive service, especially given the unreasonably high price level! The other 10 guests at our table felt the same way! There was no one who was really happy. The operators of the Runkelkrug Gastronomy shouldn't be surprised if the good former 3*** only becomes 2**. It's a shame - with the right (read: friendlier, more attentive and more competent) staff and REASONABLE prices, you could keep long-term regular customers. We'll keep an eye on the matter. At least our colleagues want to move the meeting point at short notice. I'm already looking forward to getting to know another location at the next meeting.

wer schlecht und teuer essen möchte ist hier an der richtigen Stelle. Allerhöchstens Bistro Qualität. Versalzene totgebratene Burger, auf dem Salat mit Hühnchen lag ein paniertes Schnitzel aus der Tüte, Grünkohl eine Kinderportion. Karg und ungemütlich eingerichtet. Nie wieder.

The three of us were at the Runkelkrug at the end of November. A table reservation is recommended. The service was solid and friendly. My pizza Tonno was a little too greasy and lightly seasoned, but still delicious. The ladyburger and the second pizza were well received. Definitely we'll go there again.

Had a spontaneous meal at Runkelkrug yesterday, everything was great. Service was very nice, food came very quickly, schnitzel with mushroom sauce, fried potatoes and a salad. Price was right because I always say "yolo"

The food was just standard (rump steak) the salad tasted poor but the price of 32 euros was princely.

We celebrated my niece's baptism - a wonderful day with delicious food, outside in the beer garden in beautiful weather. I can only recommend the Runkelkrug for families with children. A beautiful playground next to the beer garden invites you to play. It's a relaxed atmosphere. The employees conjure up a beautiful day Just a small note. The Grill Dreierlei would be even better if there was a small salad and a bit more meat. The spare ribs were super tasty and the pointed cabbage with pike perch was a dream.

I can't understand the good reviews. Maybe I haven't fully understood the concept yet, but it can't be that they really demand that you have to sit in the dirt for your 80th birthday. After complaints and minutes of discussion, we were finally seated on the semi-acceptable terrace. It wasn't that dirty there, but the decoration was very special. I wouldn't even give sausage jars as flower vases to my mother-in-law. Then all the flowers were completely withered - this was due to the lack of water in the sausage jar. This was probably already used up to prepare the food. That's what they tasted like. In addition, when we ordered drinks, at least half of it was a habitat for insects. So the glass of cola was full of insect parts and some of them were still alive. Unfortunately we are vegan and had to have it returned. In addition, the staff lacks the consideration and friendliness that I expect in a restaurant. Some of us were simply left sitting and had to wait an hour for the food. Afterwards we were fobbed off with the explanation that there was so much going on. So I could only see empty tables. I have no idea which guests were imagined. To eat: The veggi burger was bland, no taste and dry. The vegan red curry (which was yellow, by the way) at least had the taste of burnt 3/10 Decoration and ambience: As already mentioned, sausage jars as vases, various containers with siff water were randomly everywhere (I thought I was in a chemistry laboratory), The electrical cables were hanging from the ceiling instead of being fastened properly, the tablecloth was already gnawed (someone probably got hungry while waiting or it tasted better than the food), And there were still containers from a buffet around in which bacterial cultures had already collected, which could certainly soon be viewed as a more developed civilization. 2/10 Staff: Yes, what else can I say about that... We thought we were in a comedy show with a hidden camera. However, after much hope, this did not turn out to be the case. There was no tip either... 1.5/10 In summary, I can say, That I can only recommend the Runkelkrug if you invite someone you don't like there, it should also be suitable for a separation (then the other person already knows what to expect), Or you are masochistically inclined.

We celebrated our wedding at the Runkelkrug in June. The staff was friendly and accommodating from start to finish. During the preparations, we always had an easy-to-reach contact person, and every one of our wishes and comments was addressed. Everything went smoothly on the wedding day, if not, we didn't notice. The food was super delicious! Thank you for making our wedding unforgettable with your help!

We waited about 1 hour for the food. That was also cold. Unfortunately not so great.

We've been there a few times and there was nothing to complain about. Food very good. This time, however: Unfortunately, completely disappointing! Still had no food after 1 1/2 hours. The order was probably forgotten. Apparently it was because of an oven... We then wanted to leave the location. Of course, you still have to pay for 3 drinks. How could I possibly assume that this could be on the house as an excuse.... The service person responsible for us (table 64) reacted unreasonably. Quote: I'm not arguing... apologizing is obviously not the strength. The very nice lady from the service was obviously more understanding. Maybe fill the position of the master again then you won't scare away guests with this way..... It's a shame because for us that was it with the Runkelkrug in the future.

Delicious food, friendly and cheerful/motivated service and the ambience is great too. It is very noisy on 'the terrace' when it is full and parking spaces are also few and far between.

First impression is quite good. Then the fiasco began. Food was ordered, other guests came after us. You can guess 3 times who gets their food and who doesn't. Our table was now passed over in the 3rd round, and when asked, the staff became very rude. Especially towards older people.

We are excited! The food was delicious and the service… I've rarely seen such great, committed employees! Thank you for the lovely evening!

Wir waren zu viert gegen 18:00 Uhr da. Man muss warten, dass der Tisch zugewiesen wird. Obwohl wir schon 10 Minuten warteten, hat der Kellner in aller Ruhe an einem 12 Personen Tisch die Bestellung aufgenommen, bevor uns ein Tisch zugewiesen wurde. Wir wollten gerne im Innenbereich sitzen. Statt im Restaurant wurde uns ein Tisch auf der komplett leeren Terrasse zugewiesen. Wer sitzt gerne ganz alleine? Nachdem wir > 60 Minuten auf das Essen gewartet und schließlich 2 x ohne Reaktion nachgefragt haben, weitere 20 Minuten vergingen, haben wir das Essen abgelehnt und die Getränke bezahlt. Keine Entschuldigung, nichts. Ich bin nicht bereit, für entgangenes Essenvergnügen auch noch 100€ und mehr zu bezahlen, wenn man über den Hunger hinaus ist. Sorry liebe Leute vom Runkelkrug, bitte kommuniziert es, wenn es mal länger dauert. So vergrault man Gäste. Wir kommen nicht wieder.

Ambiance inside or winter garden/terrace was very pleasant but not a highlight. The beer garden, however, is a completely different story. Nevertheless, despite everything, it was very neat and clean. Service great, very attentive and absolutely willing to compromise when ordering and responds well to the guests' wishes! Quality of food, fresh and absolutely recommended! Beer and drinks, good selection.

The food was delicious. We can recommend the pizza and the spare ribs were also very good. However, I found the prices to be quite high. The Pizza Diavolo for 14€...

Not for me.....I know the shop from before....it was more rustic.....better for me. Not my taste anymore. Louder than normal.
