Rösterei Fuchs in Schwerin

We love going to Rösterei Fuchs. They not only serve excellent coffee, but also a good breakfast and very, very tasty main courses that are anything but run-of-the-mill! Not to mention the delicious cakes and the always friendly waiters! In my opinion, it's one of the best places in Schwerin. And as if that weren't great enough, the prices are also very fair. What more could you want?

First, the good: the food was okay, the quality was very good. Service: a smile is welcome!

I went to the roastery today because I suspected I could get a filter coffee roast there. After I expressed my desire, I was confidently told that I would find what I was looking for there, even though the lady at the counter didn't even know what I wanted. She then gave me a dark roast, to which I pointed out that this roast wasn't suitable for filter coffee. She obviously couldn't handle this criticism, because I was treated very rudely afterwards and told in a very bitchy manner that we couldn't get together. After that, I left the shop without buying anything. It seemed to me as if the staff had no idea about coffee and were simply trying to sell me something. I don't usually like to write bad reviews, but I have rarely been treated as unprofessionally and rudely in a shop as today. That's completely unacceptable!!!

The visit is worth it! The food was incredibly good, and the cappuccino was perfect. The shop has a faint scent of fresh beans, which makes breakfast even more enjoyable. 😍😍

Very good carrot, mango, and coconut soup, served hot by a friendly waiter; goat cheese with pear chutney is a nice experiment. The ambiance is a bit sparse. Large windows offer a good view of the hustle and bustle of the market square.

The food was good, the waiters were friendly. The inside was dark, but a few tables outside were nice.

I have absolutely no complaints about my coffee, but without any notice, a disposal fee of €0.50 was added to my to-go coffee (a good 15% increase in price!). Not approved! I was there for lunch today – unfortunately, it was disappointing. The prices have increased significantly, but the portions have gotten smaller. My Buddha Bowl had a completely different recipe than before, with no real indication on the menu. When I asked about it, I only got a rude answer. It's a shame; it used to be better.

Really delicious food! Friendly service, lovely place! Highly recommend. We went for lunch and got the Buddha bowl, gnocchi, pulled pork sandwich and shashouka. All of it was good quality and delicious!

The coffee, cake, and waffles are highly recommended. The whole experience is rounded off by the very friendly staff. We'll definitely be back! ☺️

I was there with my Shiba Inu (a Japanese dog) and just ordered a coffee. So far, everything was fine. But then an employee came along whose behavior ruined everything. First, he said, "Cool Asian dog." – okay, let's leave it at that. But then it happened: He said, "You can tell by his eyes," and made that typical, derogatory gesture with his fingers to his eyes. I was stunned. Not only because it was completely inappropriate – but also because my parents are from Vietnam. And I seriously wonder how people in 2025 would still make such crude jokes – especially when they're talking to customers. The guy is just pathetic. The only thing that somewhat salvaged the moment: the Asian employee. Polite, calm, respectful. Others could really learn a thing or two from them.

We were there today. My husband had a goat burger (with delicious pan-fried potatoes) that was so delicious...and filling, I had to help out later. My cake was amazing, and so was the coffee and espresso, of course. We immediately bought espresso beans for home...a wonderful holiday memory.

Simply top-notch. The service was very polite and friendly. The tables were cleaned immediately after each guest. We were here for lunch. The menu offered delicious, hearty meals. The bowl, the herring, and the spinach dumplings were excellent. The coffee was exquisite. We would gladly return here anytime.

Dear Sir or Madam, I really don't want to be a fussy ranter. Neither of the waiters knew exactly which espresso was being used. Nor do they use suitable milk for the cappuccino. They say the milk comes from the Gläserne Molerie (glass dairy) - we have the same at home - but the cappuccino was burnt or it was simply cheap long-life milk. It can be done much better, but many cafes in Schwerin really mess it up with long-life milk. No waiter was interested in the almost-full cappuccino, which was also very interesting - the attentiveness. The service, except for the man, was very nice! The salesperson for the fresh coffee didn't know which beans were used in Espresso I. Also interesting. If I work somewhere 8 hours a day and it's about 10 types of coffee, I can learn it by heart, right? It just becomes ingrained over time, right? LG Christoffer until next time, I'll try again sometime.

An inviting atmosphere, interesting menu, and a good selection of coffee beans are unfortunately useless when, even though half the tables are free, apparently no one can (or will) offer a seat. At least the service reminded me of the old Eastern Bloc days, which can be nice.

Café Fuchs is a truly lovely place to linger in Schwerin. The food is delicious and absolutely reasonably priced. The coffee, in particular, is excellent – ​​a real treat! The service is always friendly and attentive, although there are sometimes short waits when it's busy. Depending on where you sit, it can get a bit chilly – especially near the doors or windows. Nevertheless, the overall atmosphere is cozy and inviting. I always enjoy coming here and definitely recommend Café Fuchs!

We were at the Fuchs Rösterei for dinner and had reserved a table. The food tasted very tasty and was really nicely prepared. You don't have to wait long either. However, the service wasn't so friendly that you felt comfortable. We had the feeling that we were the last guests of a long day at work. It started with the cards being “slapped” and when the order was placed, people reacted very impatiently and a bit annoyed when asked. Even the usual question in many restaurants during the meal as to whether everything was okay did not come up. It's a shame, because "kindness is not magic."

Wonderful place. From breakfast to dinner, there's always something delicious to eat. Warm and friendly service, and fantastic coffee! They also have an English menu, which is quite rare here in Schwerin. We were very satisfied and would love to come back again and again. I highly recommend the Power Cappuccino and the Eggs Benedict.

I was here for the first time today and I thought I would come every day in the future! My experience here was really something special, I'm very annoyed that I didn't take a photo of the dish and the chai served! This is what the experience in the café must be like, the people here were so nice, I couldn't stop talking to the waiters! The café is extremely professional and sells real coffee art here, even the toilets were a 10/10 - the people here don't do things by halves! See you soon !!!

Nobody can do anything about -3° outside temperature. However, being cozy and warm inside is something else. A curtain in the front could probably help. There are very large entrance doors at the front. The drinks were served quickly, but we still had to wait 25 minutes (or half an hour) for breakfast, which was even more delicious.

Ich war früher gerne in der Rösterei Fuchs, aber leider hat die Qualität in meinen Augen nachgelassen. War zuletzt mit einem Freund zum Frühstück dort, und das Erlebnis war eher enttäuschend. Das Essen wirkte lieblos zusammengestellt, und insgesamt fehlte es an dem gewissen Etwas. Schade, dass hier nicht nach links und rechts geschaut wird, denn Schwerin hat mittlerweile einen neuen Standard erreicht. Zum Glück gibt es inzwischen viele tolle Frühstücksmöglichkeiten – da muss man sich schon etwas mehr Mühe geben, um mitzuhalten. Das ist leider so

Wie immer sehr sehr lecker, schneller Service, nette Beratung, toll angerichtet und es gibt eine glutenfreie Brot Alternative die sehr lecker ist. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

The lukewarm potato salad is fantastic - sometimes with a large currywurst, today again with the great Wiener Schnitzel (veal)!❤️ Of course there are also delicious calorie bombs, pasteis de nata - and the incomparable scent when the coffee is roasted for free.😍

Although we only had a short coffee stay, we still had a positive impression and we will definitely come back.

Be sure to reserve! It's easy to do via the website and space is guaranteed because it's full. Because the ambience is great and the food is good. The coffee is heavenly, definitely try the Romantico! On a Saturday, two more service staff wouldn't have hurt.

We were there for breakfast and had a very nice time. A special highlight, of course, is the coffee: wonderfully aromatic, not too thin, not too strong. But the breakfast also left nothing to be desired. Lovingly arranged on two cake stands, it consisted of a colorful mix of different types of sausage and cheese, (probably homemade?) fruit spreads, fruit, a kind of cream cheese cream and a good piece of butter. The various types of rolls served with it were small but very tasty. The breakfast for two was so lavish that we decided not to refill the bread basket. I would particularly like to emphasize the friendly and extremely courteous demeanor of the staff, despite what was apparently quite a stressful period in the restaurant. There was always a smile. We were asked several times if everything was OK. Clear recommendation for the Fuchs roastery!

Unfortunately, Rösterei Fuchs has slowed down a lot... Despite a reservation, we had to wait for our table because it was still occupied and no care was taken to clear it in time. After one employee brought us the cards, just a minute later a second employee came and asked us if we had already chosen something. By the way, we weren't served twice by any employee; a new one always came. Our order came relatively quickly, but the portion was so small - this didn't do the price justice. After an hour we were informed, somewhat rudely, that this table would be needed in 40 minutes. There is very bad timing there... The toilets (only one each!) there are also underground. It's a shame, Rösterei Fuchs used to be so good.

We have enjoyed staying here in the past and always had a good time. Unfortunately, the service can no longer be linked to the old days. Yesterday was particularly “bad”. We had reserved a table at 4 p.m., the table wasn't free yet and we had to wait. That's not a big deal. But at 5:05 p.m. we were informed that our table was needed for a reservation. Um, we hadn't even been at our table for an hour, hadn't finished drinking yet and actually wanted to order something else. You ask yourself, what did we reserve for to be able to sit there for almost an hour?!

Opening times no longer seem to be correct. We were informed that closing time was 6 p.m. (on a Thursday). n/c

Went here again for breakfast yesterday. It was great again, everything was very tasty, great service. We always enjoy coming here.

We went to the roastery for breakfast based on a recommendation. Unfortunately I have to say that it didn't live up to expectations. The coffee and the rooms were great, but unfortunately the breakfast left a lot to be desired. In my opinion, the biggest drawback was the rolls. When I go to a small private roastery for breakfast, I expect a lot of things, but certainly not baked rolls. Sausage and cheese were okay but not more than that, and the selection is also very limited. Conclusion: great for drinking coffee, but not for breakfast.

However, if you primarily value good food, you will find what you are looking for here, but you should accept compromises in terms of atmosphere and service.

Nice and cozy café in a great location right on the market square. The coffee is really tasty and you can taste the quality (coffee of the day was from Bali). The breakfast is also very good and the cold cuts are of high quality. The pancakes are an absolute recommendation. Some of the best I've eaten in Schwerin so far. The service was friendly, but relatively unemotional.

The Fuchs roastery is very well known in Schwerin and recommended for buying great coffee. The roastery has also made a good name for itself as a breakfast restaurant. In the last four months I have been there three times. Of these, 2/3 experiences were disappointing. 1st visit: Friday afternoon with three other friends. The restaurant was well attended but not too crowded. A few tables were still free and we were able to sit down without a reservation. Coffee and drinks were, as always, very good. The taste of the tarte flambée was ok. The service was not convincing. We didn't feel welcome, more like an annoyance. At the time I thought maybe the waiter was having a bad day. 2nd visit: In the evening during the week, a good 2 hours before closing time. Get a place without a reservation without any problem. I wanted to have something to eat and drink with my girlfriend. Same waiters as the first visit. Mood: cold, negative, absolutely annoyed. The card was carelessly thrown onto the table and a “good evening” barely escaped our lips. But people also preferred to look at the market rather than talk to us. There were further unpleasant moments that led us to leave without ordering and go to another location. 3rd visit: Breakfast with a friend, during the week. After the previous experience I wasn't particularly keen, but my friend still had a voucher. I reserved a table online. That worked, I still had to call again because I had a query. The colleague on the phone was very friendly. We had breakfast for two and also scrambled eggs. We enjoyed the food. The coffee was, as always, very good. The service also scored again. We were served by different waitresses. Everyone nice and friendly. Conclusion: Coffee specialties are still recommended, and the culinary offerings are also good. There is a need to catch up here and there when it comes to service so that you can feel completely comfortable again.

I tried a wide variety of meals here and every meal tasted wonderful, especially the delicious different coffees and teas. It's a pleasure! But the tall, bald-headed waiter just makes me sad with his arrogant, dismissive demeanor. Why doesn't he do something different if he finds us coffee-goers so beneath him?

We were there on a Saturday (early) afternoon, hopefully not representative for a review. It was full, some of the staff were very stressed (the young lady behind the cake counter was very friendly). The cake was tasty but not very special, the pulled pork was a bit tough and not particularly special either.

Very nice breakfast offering. Prices were completely fine. The service could have been a little friendlier, the occasional smile makes the guest feel better and more comfortable, even if it is stressful. Otherwise nicely and comfortably furnished. Definitely coming back.

We had reserved a week in advance with email confirmation that we had the table from 9:30-11:30 (i.e. 2 hours). When we got there we were told straight away that we should clear the table after an hour. So we only had an hour. The breakfast itself was very nicely prepared. The variety and taste was great. However, we found the time too short as we had already waited half an hour until breakfast and drinks were served. Wouldn't have been a problem if we had had two hours.

Wir sind immer wieder gern in der Rösterei Fuchs. Wir wurden auch dieses Mal sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend bedient. Man spürt die Freude an der Arbeit. Lieben Dank dafür. Auf das schöne Frühstück mussten wir nicht lange warten. Als langjähriger Gast vermisse ich ein wenig den kleinen herzhaften Salat zum Guten- Morgen- Frühstück.

Delicious breakfast with really good coffee. The scrambled eggs with tomatoes and feta are super tasty, I found it to be too much and couldn't manage it, which was a shame, but it was probably doable for other guests. 😊 Service is very friendly, although there are few to no questions when the drinks are empty. Otherwise we were very satisfied and will come back. Reservation recommended, it can be done online, simple and uncomplicated.

The breakfast is simply no longer recommended, nothing really fresh. Everything was pre-cut hours ago, cucumber, tomatoes dry, cheese curling to the top, salami was completely missing, mortadella brown on the edge. No value for money. Waited half an hour for the bill. No high quality products.
