Sehr gute bürgerliche Küche, netter und aufmerksamer Service, humane Preise. Auf jeden Fall ein Besuch in der Mainzer Altstadt wert.

Wonderful atmosphere, delicious food, nice service! Everything was great, you can tell that the food is made with love. Very cozy, the music is perfect for a cozy evening with friends. Schnitzel and croquettes were a particular highlight, and for dessert we ordered ice cream and loved it! Thank you very much!

A few days ago I was in Schinderhannes with my friends. I ate knuckle, it was very good and well seasoned. My friends ate salad schnitzel. I also really liked it. The waitress was very nice and despite the crowd, she did her job really professionally. I can recommend it without reservation.

Beautiful ambience and super great and delicious homemade food. Very varied cuisine between Italian and German. The service staff are also super nice and friendly. Overall, I would recommend it to everyone!!

It is definitely not advisable to eat the schnitzel: it is a schnitzel that is NOT FRESHLY PREPARED! Spareribs were dry, the silver skin was still on. The service was totally messed up. Mixed up the bill or brought the drinks to the wrong table.

I had dinner at Schinderhannes this evening and have to say that I was completely satisfied. The atmosphere is great, not to mention the friendly and courteous service. The food came to our table quickly, fresh and warm. Price/performance ratio is just great! Always my pleasure!

Waited over 2 hours. The appetizer and drinks came after over an hour, but only 2 out of 4 people received them. Salad was from Penny, schnitzel was black and was looked at angrily by the bouncers the whole time.

We waited over 2 hours for our food and then got the wrong one, fries and schnitzel weren't cooked through

Waited 1 hour and 45 minutes for food and couldn't eat it all together. Unfortunately the food was also wrong and didn't taste good at all!!!

Not as good as before , the pork knuckle skin is not crispy …. The side dish also very disappointing . Not coming back anymore

I am a regular customer and always eat Räuberhaubtmann Schnitzel. Always tastes very good. The waitresses are always nice and friendly.

There is clearly room for improvement here. According to information, the cook was ill on the day we were guests. If you come in winter and sit with your back to the window, you should bring warm clothing with you as a precaution, because the glass is only simple and it “blows through” a lot. We ordered 2x schnitzel with braised onions and an Italian salad with balsamic dressing. The schnitzels were deep fried and clearly too dark. The onions were not soft and not caramelized. The ensemble was garnished with a hint of grated carrot, which for whatever reason was seasoned with sweet paprika. Side salad ok so far, the dressing probably wasn't homemade. The Italian salad was initially delivered incorrectly, the second time the desired balsamic dressing was applied spartanly, it was a touch. Unfortunately the olive oil at the table was rancid. Actually the simplest dish is completely wrong. On a positive note, the salad was not charged and a drink was on the house, hence the 2 stars. Price-performance ratio is currently just ok.

This restaurant is decorated in a retro style. It's not very big, but it feels quite warm. There are no pig's feet anymore, only fried pork chops. It tastes okay. I see how many people ordered salads, so I guess it's also delicious. The price is okay

The food is absolutely repulsive! Poor quality and not authentic! Perhaps the most disgusting sauce/schnitzel in Mainz! Avoid!

Great local restaurant near the cathedral. Menu has many traditional german foods served with a few different sauce options. No English menu is available, but Google translate and very patient waitress made the process fun and rewarding. Dinner choices were all good. Apple strudel was soggy.

Food was ok, if you like typical German food that is all fried this will be excellent. A little too greasy for me. Apple strudel was definitely freezer quality, as it lacked flakiness and freshness. Not a lot of selection. Typical German restaurant vibes and moderately friendly wait staff

Wir sind zufällig auf dieses Restaurant gestoßen und werden garantiert wieder kommen. Es ist total urig und eingerichtet, die Mädels im Service sind wirklich sehr sehr freundlich und das Essen ist geschmacklich sowie von der Portionsgröße und vom Preis her super.

Sehr gutes, frisch zubereitetes Essen, sehr freundliche Bedienung, schöne gemütliche Atmosphäre. Sehr empfehlenswert! Vielen Dank, wir kommen unbedingt wieder.

Zum ersten Mal hier als Urmainzerin. Was für eine Überraschung! So ein nettes Team gibt es (leider) nur noch selten. Wir haben, weil es sehr voll war und keine Reservierung hatten, an der Theke gesessen. Und wurden sehr aufmerksam bedient. Das Essen war gut bürgerlich, schmackhaft und der Preis war in Ordnung. Wir würden hier definitiv wieder hingehen. Nette Leute und kein chi chi sondern handfestes, leckeres Essen.

Prima Lokal. Der Service war ausgezeichnet. Das Essen war sehr gut und der Chef ein richtig netter Kerl. Wir kommen auf jedenfall wieder. Ist eine Spitzenkneipe

Uriges Lokal mit außergewöhnlicher Deko, bei der es immer was zu sehen gibt. Hauptsächlich typisch deutsche Küche. Genau das, was man erwartet. Pommes könnten etwas knuspriger sein, aber das ist Geschmackssache. Service lässt nichts zu wünschen übrig, Inhaberin freundlich und immer auf zack.

Die Einrichtung ist zwar optisch schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen und ich war schon etwas skeptisch, was das Essen betraf. Jedoch muss ich sagen, dass es uns sehr gut geschmeckt hat. Der Salat war sehr schmackhaft und das Puten- bzw. Schweineschnitzel ebenfalls. Bei mir wurden ohne Aufpreis Spätzle anstelle von Pommes/ Kroketten gereicht. Die Portionen waren groß, der Preis top und die Bedienung sehr nett. Es hat also alles super gepasst.

Take note that pork knuckles no longer in the menu! I went there precisely for that. Food was generally disappointing. My companion said the same. And it involves very long wait for each dish. Not sure if it’s a tactic to make u order more drinks.

Altes, aber uriges Ambiente. Freundliches Personal und gutes Essen. Der Beilagensalat war frisch zusammengestellt und das Dressing selbstgemacht. Schnitzel außen knusprig, innen saftig. Die Pilzrahmsoße war auch lecker. Apfelstrudel solide. Gerne wieder.

Es war mega. Obwohl das Lokal war hat Rosi cool alles gemangt. Wünsche ihr eine schöne Zeit nach dem Gastrostress. Hoffe wir sehen uns mal wieder in der Stadt.

Freundliches Personal, große Portionen- hier geht keiner hungrig nach Hause- sehr gute Küche, originell eingerichtet, normale Preise, Achtung Beilagen müssen extra bestellt werden.

If you’re looking for traditional, authentic, delicious, homemade German meals…cooked & served by a local husband and wife, you’ve come to the right place. Rosie’s is a quaint, charming & cozy place to enjoy a fantastic meal. Fantastic value and delicious. I go there every time I’m in Mainz. Period.

Family run friendly restaurant. Good choice of German food. I had pork knuckle and red cabbage. Pork knuckle was best I’ve had with an absolutely delicious gravy. Dark wheat beer was great. All reasonably priced. Only reason ai gave it four stars is that service was a little slow.

We have been coming to this restaurant for many years now and we keep coming back. The best restaurant and the best authentic food in Germany. On this occasion we have been in Germany for three weeks and eaten here four times. Best food on all our travels. So glad to be back in this wonderful restaurant with an amazing chef and owner Rosi.

A last minute trip to Germany allowed me to return to Rosi’s Schinderhannes restaurant that was very long overdue for yet another scrumptious dinner of “Bandit Schnitzel” mit spaetzle and a couple of dark beers. Full to overflowing, Rosi managed to pull it all together and made sure that all patrons were well fed and watered. So nice to be able to rekindle pre-Covid 19 memories. First time back since 2011. This place has taken a nose-dive (pun intended; I’m an airline pilot). Expecting a wonderful experience at a restaurant I used to visit frequently, I was met by an extremely rude and disrespectful owner who screwed up my food order, demanded I eat what was placed before me, delivered the wrong type of beer that I ordered and only a partially filled glass second time around. And honestly, the food was terrible (except for the red cabbage). You might ask, “Well why didn’t you send the order back?” Because I didn’t want to create a scene. My response would be, “Why can’t the owner get a simple order right?” Because he no longer wants to provide great, even average service. There are so many top quality restaurants in the area - don’t waste your time and geld here.

Autêntica comida alemã! Ambiente super aconchegante. Atendimento diferenciado. Pratos super saborosos. E o licor no final, faz toda a diferença. Preço muito justo! Super recomendo!

Came to Germany for a friends trip. Was suggested by someone that this place has authentic German food and boy were they right! Run by a husband and wife, this place takes the cake on everything else we ate in Germany. Food takes along time so be prepared to sit tight a while and enjoy a beer or two while the wife make everything from scratch and cooks to order. Soups, salads, schnitzel, salmon and steak were all VERY well seasoned and prepared. Apple strudel was also very well made and came with some of the best ice cream I have ever had! Warning, they do have a cat that roams around. Restaurant is not very big but they made room for our party of 6 towards the end of the night. I can't wait to go back again someday!

Wife and I were greeted by a SWARM of insects, fruit flies, etc. that did not relent. I mean, they were everywhere. Disgusting. Couldn’t even attempt to eat.

Absolutely worth the visit. I had the Pfifferlingen &Schnitzel: it was a lot but most of all it was really good (typical German food). The owners are lovely.

This restaurant is quite small, but the traditional German food is exceptionally delicious. The couple who run the place make the visit a great experience with their personal touch.

Wir kamen zufällig vorbei und fanden einen Platz vor der Tür. Das Essen war für eine solch urige Kneipe absolut überraschend und sehr lecker. Der Spargel war frisch geschält und auf dem Punkt gegart, die Lammkeule war knusprig und die Soße dazu ein Geschmacksfeuerwerk. Selbst gekocht und sehr lecker. Das Rumpsteak war wie gewünscht Medium-Rare und von sehr guter Qualität. Und das Weinangebot war übersichtlich und sehr gut. Auch wenn der Service ein wenig Zeit benötigte hatten wir einen sehr schönen Abend. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die unglaublich nette Besitzerin. Wenn mal wieder in n Mainz, dann gerne wieder ins Rosis.

Tiny mom and pop place with maybe 7 tables. Extensive German menu with the most amazing meats. My husband had Big Ed’s special: a crisp-skinned pork knuckle the size of a football in a wine sauce. I had the crispy pork ribs, at least a whole rack. We shared a side of cottage potatoes with bacon and onions. It was so good we went back the next night and had a lighter meal to we could get their Apple Strudel dessert. We each had the featured White Asparagus Soup, which was velvety, delicious and topped with Creme Fraiche and fresh chives. The strudel was perfect, with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream, dusted generously with fragrant cinnamon. Good and very moderately priced wine list and beer selection. Everything in fact was very fairly priced compared to some of the overpriced places we have been to in Mainz, not to mention several weeks in other parts of Europe! The owner also has a fabulous musical playlist. The restaurant itself is cozy and full of antiques. Do not miss it in Mainz!

This place is small. Family run. They are open and have room, don't be discouraged by the lack of parking, I think parking is mostly taken up by people who live here. We park at the cinema and walk. We've come here twice. The non-breaded chicken with herb butter is amazing. The other dishes we have had are hit or miss. I've had the pork knuckle, the sausage parade, the salmon, the sauerkraut has some spice in it that I didn't like... actually couldn't eat it and I LOVE sauerkraut. The Brussel sprouts were slightly overcooked for my liking, but still delicious. They were served with bacon or ham on them so if you are a vegetarian make sure you ask about getting them without. Cash only.

This family run (husband and wife with cat) restaurant has a large menu and is very visitor friendly. There meu does include seasonal favorites (spargel) and the portions are large.

Home cooking in a small restaurant that feels like someones home . We tried to eat here one night but the kitchen closes around 9 and even at 8:30 we were turned away. Went back earlier the next night and we were glad we persisted . The service was a little slow but home cooking takes a while. The food was excellent and plentiful . We were a little disappointed that we couldn't get dessert, as ,by the time we finished the main course the kitchen had closed . In spite of this I would definitely eat here ,but I would come on the early side
