The food was delicious and reasonably priced, and arrived in a good time. The location is great, and it's very family- and child-friendly! We'll definitely be back and have already reserved a table!

But the restaurant closed at 10 p.m....and that was during the trade fair in Ddorf. My guests were a bit disturbed; it had a somewhat provincial feel, so it lost points.

Since there were no more seats available at the Roadstop in Essen, but we were craving ribs and wings, we ventured to Mattmann again – and regretted it... The reservation for 6 people was problem-free, as was parking and the reception. After a few minutes, our order was taken. The drinks arrived within a reasonable time, but we had to wait over an hour for the food – even though it was 9 p.m. and the place was at most half full. The food itself ranged from good (burgers) to so-so (dry chicken wings). We had to actively request more drinks (urgently needed due to the dry wings) several times, and table service was effectively suspended. We also ran out of wet wipes for those who eat with their hands. After that, we tried for about 45 minutes to get attention so we could pay. To no avail. Only after making a stand at the counter 10 minutes later did we finally get to pay somewhere. The team seemed to be very busy dealing with complaints and even made a comment like, "Difficult guests today." What can I say: if you have plenty of time to eat mediocre food in a mediocre atmosphere and don't care about service, this is the place for you. Everyone else should choose another location.

We've been here several times for lunch or dinner. Cool place! The atmosphere is really great, and you can really see the attention to detail! The food is also good! I particularly liked the smashed cheeseburger with curly fries. Absolutely recommend it!

I went there for the first time yesterday with my son and a friend. Ample parking, a well-kept, spacious restaurant with no overpowering smells of food, and a very attentive, friendly, and present team. The wait times were perfectly coordinated and contributed to a relaxed evening. All dishes were served simultaneously, were delicious, and at the perfect temperature. Running a restaurant is about much more than just good cooking—it's also about organization and smooth processes. Everything is just right here; success is guaranteed. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

We went there today after seeing the Instagram ad several times, and it was simply fantastic. The server came quickly, the burgers were really delicious, as were the drinks, and the atmosphere was typically American. There was a bit of a wait for the food, but it was bearable. We'll definitely be back!

We went there for dinner. It was really delicious, the service was friendly, and they accommodated our requests for both take-away and side orders. They deducted one star for having to order the side dishes separately; at most other diners, fries are always included as standard.

Everything was good, unfortunately the food took a while

I was only there for dinner. I ordered the apple nut cake for €6.55. The piece of cake was completely frozen and impossible to cut with a fork. I complained and received a new piece shortly after. This one was only half the thickness because it had been thawed and was still hot, so it had partially melted. Since my coffee was already lukewarm, I ate it. Two things I'm complaining about: Mistakes happen, but when it comes to repairs, a second mistake shouldn't be made. Charging €6.55 for a piece of frozen cake (not a cake from a pastry shop) is truly outrageous. They didn't even offer a small compensation. It's a real shame, and I therefore don't recommend eating cake there.

We ordered food for 10 people. After 45 minutes, parts of our order arrived. Unfortunately, the medium didn't work, and two people didn't receive their side dishes at all. It's a shame that didn't work.

We were there for the entire weekend for a wedding celebration. Check-in at the hotel and the restaurant was quick, despite the busy schedule. The room is unusually decorated, but could use a bit of a refresh. Dinner in the restaurant, as well as breakfast, were very good. The portions were reasonable for the price and good, and the drinks were also excellent. The manager personally oversaw, decorated, and managed the wedding reception. The bride and groom's guests who helped were always treated in a friendly and competent manner, as was the staff.

Unfortunately, the ambiance, service, and ultimately the price are completely out of balance. Great ambiance, very slow service that ignores you and even delivers the same wrong item twice, and then €250 for five people in a burger joint. No, sorry. Not again...

Wow! We were at the Roadstop with several guests during my wedding, and everyone was very happy. The suite, in particular, was absolutely fantastic. I was already familiar with the restaurant, and it was exactly what you'd expect. Good burgers, good beer, and good service. The stay was perfect and perfectly rounded off our wedding.

The restaurant doesn't always seem to be interested in guests. Especially not at a time when others are dealing with a drop in visitors. The following incident occurred. I often cycle in Mettmann and finally decided to follow the street sign to this American-style restaurant, which opens at 6:30. The breakfast is very good, and everything else about the stay was very good. Three days later, a cold shower. I was told—despite the aforementioned sign—that the restaurant doesn't open for non-hotel guests until 8:00. And this despite the fact that there were only two other guests in the restaurant at that time. So they really aren't interested in out-of-town guests who come ONLY for breakfast. Needless to say, I immediately left the place and will therefore never return, do I?

The value for money at this restaurant is excellent, the food is amazing, and the staff is very pleasant. It's also great for children, as there's a small playground outside. There are plenty of parking spaces. From my perspective, the Road Stop is highly recommended.

This was our second time eating here and, unfortunately, we were disappointed again. Although the restaurant wasn't particularly busy, we had to wait over an hour each time for our food (burgers and fries). The waiters, while numerous, were very inattentive. Empty glasses were left sitting for a long time, and you had to actively ask for them instead of them checking on you. Overall, the service seemed disorganized and not very customer-oriented.

We ate at the Road Stop today, and I was incredibly surprised. The ambiance is simply gorgeous, and I even got a gluten-free burger! It almost made me cry. But when our server, "Nova," gave us such good advice and did a fantastic job, I completely fell in love with the place. I come from the industry myself and know how difficult it is to find such good, communicative staff! I would have loved to poach them 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you for the lovely evening and the great food! When we arrived and asked for a table, the reaction from the lady who was assigning us seats was unfortunately very poor. She asked if we had a reservation, and when we said no, she rolled her eyes and made a strange gesture. We felt a bit guilty, even though you'd think that at this road stop at 5 p.m., two adults should still be able to get a seat without any problems. We actually got a table relatively quickly, and the waitress was so nice and attentive that she made up for it. The food was excellent. That's why we're giving it 4 stars.

We visited the Roadstop Restaurant on a Thursday. Not all the seats were occupied, but the restaurant was quite busy. We had very friendly service and no problem waiting for our orders. The food itself was good, but the price was beyond cheap. €1.90 for a pot of sauce, €0.95 for mayonnaise, and €4.95 for fries as a side dish in addition to the main course are a bit steep in our opinion. Such side dishes should really be included in the price of the main course. Although we enjoyed the food, we would probably forgo another visit due to this pricing policy.

Service at its best. A waiter just as you'd imagine. Funny, personable, open-minded, and not above a quick joke. Plus, good food with easy access to the motorcycle. See you next time.

Big breakfast buffet: We saw the advertisement online and were excited. We then drove to Mettmann to experience it in person. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed. Frozen rolls, carelessly arranged toppings, scrambled eggs, and the like sit empty for half an hour before being refilled, with no sign of service. The entire buffet seems like something between chaos and disinterest. Since we've been here for dinner several times and have mostly been satisfied, we're even more disappointed by this poor breakfast. Something urgently needs to improve on the quality... because for almost €25 per person on a Sunday, that's pretty outrageous. The American option here was just the tip.

We went to the Road Stop for breakfast for the first time today and were very disappointed. There was a sign at the entrance saying "Free seating." We had chosen a table and weren't even noticed by a server. No one greeted us, the staff was very young, and you could constantly hear the clinking of dishes as something fell off the counter. It felt like a manager to manage everything. We were very disappointed with the buffet. It was very poorly decorated, and the selection was very minimalist and lacking in quality. Everything was constantly empty, and you had to repeatedly point out to the staff that certain items were missing. For €25 per person, it was an absolute extortionate price. A man at the live cooking station did his job in a completely unloving and unfriendly manner. I come from a restaurant background myself; the place has so much potential, but unfortunately, it's run in a very unfriendly and definitely not service-oriented manner. We were there for a full three hours, and if we hadn't raised our hand to the staff to pay, we wouldn't have been noticed at all. Guests' dissatisfaction was heard from many corners, which was confirmed by our first experience on site.

I can't rate the rooms; we were only there for breakfast. Nothing fresh and cheap pre-baked rolls that didn't taste good. If I were a hotel guest, I would have been very disappointed with the breakfast. The best part was actually the coffee. The road stop itself looked good, though.

It was very busy that day. We weren't told in advance that there would be a longer wait for our food. After waiting for 1.5 hours, we finally got up and left. They apologized 30 times and assured us again that the food would be ready, but by then we were tired of it. Especially since guests who arrived after us had already received their food first. I'll definitely try eating there again, but at a different time of year.

Feedback on the Restaurant Visit The design and interior of the restaurant are truly impressive – modern, creative, and designed with great attention to detail. The restaurant also impressed me with its culinary offerings: The food was very good, the portions generous – one burger is perfectly adequate, while fries would almost be too much. I would particularly like to highlight the extremely friendly and attentive service. Overall, I had a very positive impression. However, there are two negative points that caught my attention and that I would like to openly address: First, I find the selection of pictures on the restroom doors problematic – especially in the men's restroom, there are also accessories that should ideally be accessible in an adults-only area. Considering that children also enter this area, I would strongly recommend a revision or a more sensitive approach to the design. Secondly, a note to the owners regarding the menu: Some dishes have the word "hell" (bright) in their names. I encourage you to ask an AI the question: what does the Bible say about "hell" (i.e., hell) and whether it's a term you really want to use with positive connotations in the restaurant industry. In a hundred years, people will look back with astonishment at what was so naturally on the menu back then. Because: Hell is a real place.

The burgers are delicious, but a bit overpriced, as you unfortunately have to order everything separately. You don't even get mayonnaise/ketchup unless you specifically request it. This also costs extra and isn't included with the fries. At least a dip/sauce could be included with the fries you order. Unfortunately, the background noise is very loud, so you can barely hear yourself, which makes it very difficult when you're sitting with a large group.

We were there with 20 people on Saturday lunchtime – everything was served quickly and everyone enjoyed it. The service was very friendly and attentive. We had the Elvis-themed room at the motel. It was beautifully decorated, quiet, and comfortable! Free parking and a great breakfast. We didn't lack for anything!

This was my first time in Mettmann for business. I've been to Essen a few times before and it was always nice, but Mettmann is on a whole different level. The food was truly excellent, the decor was quaint, and the service was very friendly! I'd love to come back with my business client and try out the hotel sometime.

The themed rooms are very authentic and designed with great attention to detail. Absolutely top-notch. We stayed in the "prison" room. Considering the price of over 100 euros including breakfast, the comfort, despite the authenticity, leaves a lot to be desired. The room is very small. The toilet and sink are very far apart. The sink and countertop are very small for two people. There's hardly any storage space in the room. The biggest negative point was that the rather loud extractor fan started up whenever you needed a light at the sink. It was really loud and was practically right next to the bed. Friends' rooms in the same room category were significantly more comfortable.

The food itself is okay, although the menu has also deteriorated considerably. The service, however, leaves a lot to be desired. Very young, inexperienced men who lack vision and overview. At times, they act very insecurely. Unfortunately, this is the third time we've had this experience.

Road Stop Restaurant - Spare ribs look great, but very dry and the portions are way too small. There wasn't really much meat on them. The New York burger wasn't juicy either. We were there at 5:30 PM on a Saturday. It was very empty. The food arrived after 10!!! minutes. I think the spare ribs were in the oven to keep warm? The service was very friendly and acknowledged my complaint with regret. One spare rib, one New York burger, two drinks, and a coleslaw for €47.50 is borderline.

I was only there for dinner and can't comment on the rooms. The ambiance was very good, and the staff was very friendly. I also found the prices very fair. Unfortunately, the "regular" burgers our group had were all quite dry and unusually firm. The smash burgers, on the other hand, were super juicy. The fries could have used a bit more salt.

Restaurant review: The food was okay (nothing more), but 2 stars for that. The service—and that's what makes or breaks a restaurant—was disastrous! Dozens of servers were regularly standing around, doing nothing, while we sat at our table with empty glasses. We had previously waited 15 minutes to be served at all. Even though it wasn't busy, the food for four people took over an hour. We won't be back!

Only the restaurant is being reviewed here – not the hotel complex. Definitely a nice American-style ambiance; spacious; located with a good view and plenty of room on the outdoor terrace. The food is good, but has declined somewhat in quality over the years (e.g., frozen patties instead of freshly made fries), but at higher prices. So-called side orders (fries wedges, etc.) can only be ordered in combination with a main course, and even then, over €5 for a portion of fries is definitely too much. The Sunday breakfast (€25 per person) is disappointing. The pancakes are more like egg pancakes, and the bacon is flaky and dry. For that price, I really wouldn't go back, unless you're including a hotel stay. Overall, it's a shame that the quality hasn't been as good as it was when it first opened.
