Very nice restaurant. Delicious food. Friendly service. Plates are cleared quickly. All you can eat and drink. But for the price, you can't eat that much, even though it tastes very good. A full 5 stars.

A large selection, very tasty, but the rooms are a bit too warm in the summer temperatures outside. Air conditioning would really be advisable here.

The food was good, really tasty, and varied. However, we were sometimes "forgotten" in the private dining room, and it took a while for someone to come or clear the dishes.

(€33) For that kind of money, you should have a big appetite... the buffet isn't for picky eaters... it's better to order something from the menu. And it was quite loud, despite the relatively few people there.

We go to the Red Sun regularly, but unfortunately, my husband, our daughter, and I felt incredibly sick after our last visit. Diarrhea and vomiting followed shortly afterward, and stomach cramps persisted until the next day. What a pity.

Update! Unfortunately, I have to deduct two stars – they advertised MSG-free food, and that's why it was the only buffet I could eat. I felt very, very sick on the last two visits. Upon asking, they said: Yes, we also use MSG. Apparently not for very long, because I didn't have any before. But then you have to point it out, and what's the point? The food was always great before, even without the garbage! Great food, although the meat is sometimes half-raw at the live grill. Very nice atmosphere, friendly waiters. We love going there, and would love to go there often, but unfortunately, it's a bit too expensive.

Good selection, plenty on the plate, fair price. A bit hectic, and the Far Eastern nursery rhymes of the witty serving robot could have been more subtle. Good service, therefore very popular and well attended. On the first visit in 2025, a noticeable price increase was announced. This was coupled with restrictions on the length and size of the buffet. Whether this will be accepted by customers remains to be seen.

Very tasty, especially the grill buffet. For €33, it includes a very good and varied selection of drinks. However, the live sushi doesn't seem to be working. There's no one there, and even when you ask the waitress, you can't get the avocado nigiri you want, which they've just run out of.

We really liked the restaurant – the food was delicious, the selection was varied, and the tables were comfortably spaced. For larger groups, they even offer the option of renting a separate room, which we found particularly convenient. The accessible restroom is a bit of a letdown, as the floor was a bit sticky and the changing mat wasn't entirely clean. Luckily, I brought my own. Perhaps there's room to improve this, and then it would be perfect for us.

The variety and taste of the food, desserts, and drinks are excellent. On weekdays, it's €33 per person, which includes unlimited soft drinks and 2 glasses of wine or beer. Even if you want more, the extra drinks are very cheap. Great value for money!

The food was delicious, as always. The €33 was very well spent. The service itself was good, but unfortunately, the waitress spoke little to no German. And she didn't understand us either. But that won't stop us from coming back.

Disappointment after concept change – service quality unfortunately significantly declined We have been frequent and happy guests at this restaurant. We enjoy the food, we really like the ambiance, and we have always appreciated the friendly and attentive service. Since the switch to a fixed-price concept including drinks (€33 for "All You Can Eat & Drink"), however, our impression has unfortunately deteriorated significantly. On our last visit, neither our plates nor our bowls were cleared away – even though the restaurant wasn't even full. Instead, at some point, a server came by with a serving cart, stood next to our table, and began piling the dishes on it. It was more reminiscent of a cafeteria and seemed uninviting. Another unpleasant moment arose when paying: Due to a misunderstanding between us, we initially paid by card without a tip – shortly afterward, the cashier asked us in an unfriendly tone whether we wanted to finish the bottle on the table. We were aware that you would have to pay extra for unconsumed drinks, as it was posted on the notice boards on the tables. However, the way the request was made was inappropriate and lacked any sensitivity. We find it unfortunate that the new concept has apparently also significantly deteriorated the quality of service. It was precisely this quality that always made our visits pleasant. This time, we were unfortunately disappointed.

We have better memories of the Red Sun. About a year ago, we went there twice and were very satisfied. The buffet offered delicious food, everything seemed fresh and beautifully presented. So we wanted to go back last night (as we were visiting). When we entered, we were a bit surprised: it was very warm and extremely crowded, with children running back and forth between the buffet aisles and into the path of the friendly robot. When we found a seat, we noticed that the tables were dirty and practically "sticky." I then went to the buffet and saw unloved and dried-out dishes. I still tried a few things, but they didn't convince me (anymore). We had the "grill master" fry/grill one fish and one meat dish. Of course, it took longer due to the rush of guests—but that wasn't the problem. Unfortunately, both dishes were completely dried out—you could say "fried to death." It was a real shame. Then we tried the "sushi conveyor belt"; it was okay, but nothing more. The staff seemed to have trouble communicating with the guests. Overall, we were very disappointed and won't try it again. Finally, of course, we also visited the restrooms, which was another shock for us. This is, of course, primarily due to the guests, who unfortunately leave the restrooms in terrible condition :-(

Great location for birthdays or similar celebrations. A good selection. There's something for every taste. The waiter bot is funny.

Overall, it's a no-brainer. You help yourself at the buffet. The staff is basically just there to quickly clear plates and dishes from the table and clean up the mess. Even if there's still food on the plate, it's simply cleared away. Language barriers are definitely a problem, as we've had a few wrong orders.

Disappointing – Used to love it, never again We were regular guests at the Red Sun for many years, even though there was a long break of a year and a half recently. The anticipation was all the greater – and the disappointment all the deeper. What once impressed with solid food is now nothing but a lackluster mass-produced affair. The quality of the food has declined significantly – those who value quantity over taste at buffets and the like might still be happy here. We found it simply too bland, too unambitious, and overall disappointing. The always-present "train station atmosphere" has also worsened rather than improved – cleanliness no longer seems to be a priority, and the service staff is either understaffed or absent. Empty plates pile up, and you're forced to either deal with the chaos on the table or transfer used dishes to neighboring tables – that no longer has anything to do with hospitality. The only bright spot: the new self-service refrigerators for drinks – practical because you don't have to wait for a server. But that alone doesn't make up for it anymore. It's a shame, but for us – after so many years – this was definitely our last visit. There are plenty of alternatives in the area that show how to make an Asian all-you-can-eat offering much better.

A regular for years This week we reserved a private room at the Red Sun for a birthday – and like every one of my now over 130 visits, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. As a long-time regular, I can say with conviction: Everything is just right here. Service & Customer Service The staff is extremely friendly, attentive, and pleasantly unobtrusive. The service is always professional and warm. A particularly positive feature is that used plates are always cleared away at the right time – nothing ever looks messy or is left out for too long. Buffet & Quality The buffet is consistently freshly stocked, and the food is always piping hot. The variety of dishes leaves nothing to be desired. A real highlight is the live cooking area: You can select your own ingredients and either watch them being prepared – or be surprised. The finished dish is then brought directly to your table by a moving robot. After removing the plate, simply tap "Ready" on the robot's display – and it moves on. Beverage Innovation Recently, it's also been possible to help yourself to cold drinks from refrigerators – a very practical innovation that provides additional convenience, especially for group visits. The Red Sun is highly recommended! The value for money is excellent. There's a large buffet selection with something for everyone. The drinks included in the price also come in a wide variety. A point deduction is due to the poor quality of the raw meat and desserts.

The food was tasty and varied. In addition to the buffet, which largely offers the usual dishes, there is also the option to have ingredients freshly prepared. These are then brought to your table by a "friendly" robot when they are ready. That's quite original. The buffet prices are reasonable. You can help yourself to as many as you want, and drinks are included in the price. One positive aspect is that the restaurant tries to avoid waste. Anyone who returns more than half a plate or half a bottle will be charged €5. A good idea. The restroom facilities were fine.

Very disappointing; the buffet consisted only of burnt and dried-out food. We arrived shortly before 2:00 p.m., lunch is served until 3:00 p.m., but there were only leftovers. The drinks selection was quite good, but the €22.00 per person was too expensive. We won't be back.

Rich offer There are different buffets: A sushi carousel, "traditional" Chinese food, "Mongolian buffet" (raw dishes are freshly prepared) and dessert (ice cream, cakes, sweets, chocolate fountain). For some time now, the "all you can eat" price of €33/adult has also included a (soft) drinks flat rate, which puts the previous price of €21 plus drinks into perspective.

My absolute favorite Chinese restaurant! Great food from the buffet, great service, everything very progressive. And the atmosphere is also very cozy.

Hello everyone, I've been to Red Sun in Mettmann a few times but today is 100% the last time in my life. The first thing the boss tries to do is cheat when paying and when it comes to drinks the boss is really counting etc. I no longer feel comfortable as a guest at Red Sun apart from the quality of the food, nothing is refilled, it's just waiting for the people who want to grab the leftovers shortly before the end of the day, sorry. People don't buy the stuff, unfortunately it's just for the bin and I can do that 100% say because a good friend of mine works there unfortunately on the whole Red Sun has now become the last of the last it used to be better today unfortunately you only get frass which is actually not even suitable for the pig barrel that's why dear people avoid Red Sun since if you like heartburn and stomach aches Red Sun Mettmann please don't is a well-intentioned advice from me ❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌

There are strange employees who think they are smart, I was there with my five-year-old child and they asked me to pay the bill even though he hadn't eaten anything and I reminded them of the law, to which they apologized because they knew I understood the law.

We came to this restaurant following an invitation for a birthday. It is a typical all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant. The selection of food was okay, but not exceptional either. No highlights were to be expected in terms of taste. Unfortunately, a lot of things taste quite similar. The service was friendly and attentive. It will remain a one-off visit.

For the price you can't complain. The service is quick and friendly. The food and selection is good. With the drinks in the all u can eat offer now, it's twice as worth it. Even with children, who then pay proportionately less, it's a great deal; we enjoy eating there.

Eine einzige Katastrophe!! Das Buffet kostet 33 € pP. man hat 2,5 Std. Zeit jede weitere Std. kostet 4 € pP. Getränke Alkoholfrei inbegriffen, Bier und Wein gibt es pP. 2 Gläser frei. Der Laden war brechendvoll aber das Buffet leer, man ist mit dem Essen nicht hinterher gekommen, Es ist sehr schade der Laden war mal eine Topadresse.

The food tasted okay, I found the selection relatively small and unfortunately most of it was cold despite the restaurant being full.

The sushi looked very tasty, but I didn't try it. Summary: We won't come back because there are better Chinese "all you can eat" buffets in the surrounding area (Haan, Wuppertal).

Very large and lots of choice. Child-friendly with high chairs and a small play area. Price/performance All you can eat including drinks is very good and recommended. It was delicious. Gorgeous, comfortable and excellent service

Affordable all-you-can-eat option with included drinks and Mongolian buffet. The kids thought the rolling sushi was impressive and ran after the delivery robot with great joy... especially when the robot brought singing birthday wishes. A delicious and all-round wonderful experience! However, you have to park in the parking garage because the restaurant is in the city center.

Unfortunately the surcharge for New Year's Eve was quite high and it was never mentioned on the phone or indicated on the internet that it would cost €40 per person, with the justification that there would be a fireworks display for customers like us who had reserved at 5 p.m. and at 7 p.m When we left the clock, we never got to see these fireworks. It's a shame that the price has to be increased so much. For the price I found the selection of fruit (dessert) very limited.

I can't understand the bad response, we were there for New Year's Day yesterday because it was very full but the food was great, the staff really tried hard, we were very happy, of course a tiny drawback that we also had to pay 40 euros for New Year's Day even though we left early because of the smallest thing our mistake, we didn't pay attention to the board on the door, our own stupidity 🤷🏼‍♀️😂 the little robot was just worth the fun…….we'll be back 👍

The Red Sun is an all-you-can-eat restaurant in downtown Mettmann. For €32 per person, children pay lower prices, you can plunder both the buffet and the fridges with a wide selection of drinks over two and a half hours. That's a very fair price for what's on offer! Especially because the food at the buffet is completely fine. Of course it's not an authentic approach, but Red Sun offers a wide range of Asian cuisine that's suitable for the masses and tastes European, with something for everyone. If you know that and want to, then that is the strength of this restaurant. The dishes and side dishes at the buffet are all tasty and without any outliers. We didn't find a single slip-up, but we didn't find an absolute highlight either, as everything is stable, reliable and unsurprising. But the best thing was the sweet and sour chicken, which balances the balance between crunchy chicken and pleasantly warm sauce, which creates the special munchies of this dish. The selection on the sushi line is also completely fine. The variations are versatile and completely acceptable for the range and ultimately the price. The plates are placed on the conveyor belt with freshly cut rolls as needed. One could only think again about the presentation of the wasabi offering, which of course is not wasabi but the common dissolved powder. The large bowl is not very attractive. A firmer mixture could, for example, be placed as florets on the soy sauce plates on display. The Mongolian grill, for which you can put together your own dish at the buffet from a wide range of meat, seafood and vegetables, delivers quick and reliable results. A little gimmick from the restaurant comes into play here. The finished plates are brought to the tables by a robot that plays Chinese music. That was the highlight for the accompanying child! So it's a nice gimmick that usefully supports the nice service. All in all, the Red Sun is a successful family restaurant that also offers space for larger groups and has something for pretty much everyone with its culinary offerings.

Wir waren mit 10 Erwachsenen und drei Kindern am 1. Weihnachtstag dort. Wie immer war es sehr voll. Leider wird für 39 € pro Person Null Service geboten, da jetzt in dem Preis 2 Fassbiere oder Wein, welche man an der Theke durch Vorlage eines Zettels -es bedient eine Person - und einer Flat für Flächengetränke aus Selbstbedienungskühlschränken erhält. In meiner Kantine habe ich den selbigen Service nur für 4,50 €. Die Qualität hat leider auch sehr nachgelassen. Das Lamm und die Ente war zäh und schmeckte nicht frisch. Leider auch beim letzten Besuch. Der Roboter, der das Essen bringen sollte, kam bis zu unserem Tisch nicht durch, da alles mit Stühlen und Tischen vollgestellt war. Jemand der Gehbehindert ist, wird somit ausgegrenzt. Die Atmosphäre war sehr ungemütlich. Wir werden nach 5 Jahren uns nach einem neuen Lokal umsehen.

Reservation for Christmas for 7 people at 12:30 p.m. was confirmed by email, then we called shortly afterwards asking if we could come at 11:30, an hour earlier. Since it was too early for us, I declined. Our reservation was then canceled. It's a shame that you treat guests like that. Why was my reservation confirmed beforehand? You don't have to go here!!!

The place is quite normal for a typical Mongolian buffet Chinese place. Somehow quite proper, a bit strange, but okay. The staff is surprisingly attentive, friendly and quick for THE crowds. On Saturdays it's all you can eat until 4 p.m., but ATTENTION: for 22 EURO (!!!!), in addition to an incredibly diverse and delicious huge buffet, it also includes ALL drinks that are alcohol-free, including liter bottles, as much as you want the freshly fried section. UNBEATABLE. Definitely go back.

I haven't been there for a long time... And since it was my dwarf's birthday, I thought we'd go eat there. And it was great and super tasty. And the fact that the drinks are now part of the all you can eat menu makes it very likeable.
