Ristorante Pizzeria Da Carlo in Rudolstadt

I can't find the right words for this place. It was a disaster. Schnitzel cooked to death. Fried potatoes from the freezer. Salad with three to four ingredients. Scampi (prawns) was tough and dry on cheap, unloving iceberg lettuce with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. The whole thing was €26‼️ Diavola pizza is 50% pepperoni, not spicy salami. The chef yells into the kitchen. You can feel the complete overwhelm. On the plus side: opening hours were extended, and the "food" came quickly. Last time for me!

2025 Update: Guests still not welcome!!!!! All but three tables are free, but reserved. Other guests tell us that there are usually no reservations at all; you just have to ask for a table. We waited for two cigarette lengths. The waitress walked past us several times and looked tensely in the other direction. We left after 15 minutes. The restaurant industry in Germany is doing badly... No wonder, given the work ethic. 2021 Here, the food is now served by waiters in sweatpants. And the friendliness has obviously been lost in the Corona crisis. If you ask for a table, you're practically laughed at.

Despite having a reserved table, the wait for the food to arrive was approximately 1.5 hours. We were a large group and discovered that some guests who arrived after us had already eaten before we even got anything. The restaurant was full, and the kitchen and the restaurant owner were clearly overwhelmed. When we asked when the food would arrive, Carlo made it clear to us that we would have to wait, as it was just taking a while. By the way, thank you very much, Carlo, for the reprimand! It should also be mentioned that this happened to us two days in a row.

Unchanged: Great service, very friendly host, and by far the best Italian restaurant in Rudolstadt.

It's a good Italian restaurant with friendly service and a Mediterranean atmosphere. It's located next to the tennis courts in Rudolstadt. The food is very tasty.

You can sit quietly and comfortably on the terrace. The food and service were better. The portions are getting smaller and the prices are rising. It didn't taste particularly good either. When it comes to the service, you get the impression that they are guests helping out. Both from the clothing and from the service itself. But maybe it was just a snapshot.

Very unfriendly staff and the pizza is frozen

I hope that the day will come when the boss would be happy if someone would come to his place. With few plates, unimaginative dishes, and poor service, the owner of the house wants to quickly get richer at the guest's expense. Rigatoni are really ridiculously cheap. Saving on it, especially at THESE prices, so that you leave the restaurant hungry is beyond belief. Never again.

It was simply too small for a standard pizza for €14.50. Even a side salad for €8.90 is not ok. We were also made to wait a solid 1.5 hours for our food. I probably won't visit this place again.

Service overwhelmed, comes when she has time, boss very angry, waited 1 1/2 hours for 4 dishes and found pulp with contents in the food. No apologies whatsoever… very sad

A short trip to Italy probably best describes the experience. A friendly host who always tries to fulfill all wishes. The view on the terrace invites you to linger.

I can't recommend eating here. Round pizzas with no crust, ready-made pasta with flavorless sauces and pale tomatoes with cow's milk mozzarella. You can't find Italy here.

I go to Thuringia up to 4 times a year to visit my mother's side of the family. We always like to go to Carlo's, especially in summer. As far as I can remember, there was never anything to complain about about the food. In my opinion, the mixed bruschetta is a classic that you can't go wrong with. I also have no complaints about the service. Yes, you don't get upset, but I also want to enjoy my food in peace. If you need something, there are enough waiters on the go who will come straight away. Overall, a nice restaurant that even left some of my childhood with fond memories. :)

The pricing is incomprehensible to me. We paid the same amount for take-out as it said on the delivery card, even though we didn't use that service. In every other pizzeria I know, you pay less for take-out than on-site or for delivery. The surprisingly expensive pizza took forever without us being warned. Taste was okay, but considering the price it should have tasted at least 50% better and been 50% bigger than anywhere else.

Delicious Italian food in a relaxed atmosphere at fair prices. No annoying city noises and perfect for letting children run free.

The ambience is very nice, drinks go very quickly, tables outside are not stocked with pepper, salt or anything else despite reservations! The cutlery had black spots everywhere - that was new and hadn't been washed yet, was the statement! Once the food is finished, you are completely ignored and wait forever until someone comes. The staff also walks around in civilian clothes, you could also approach a guest here about the service!

The food and service were good. After the meal, as always, a nightcap was offered, which used to be free. That things will change...okay. We were charged an outrageous €4.40 for the mini affogado (espresso size). Customers should be made aware of this beforehand!

Nicht zu empfehlen. Auf der Website wird eine andere Speisekarte angeboten als im Restaurant. Auf der Website gibt es Fisch und andere Spezialitäten, die aber im Restaurant nicht angeboten werden. Gar kein Fisch. Man kommt in einem dringen renovierungsbedürftige Restaurant an bekommt eine geschweißtes Blatt Papier als Speisekarte mit Pasta, Pizza und vier Fleischgerichte. Zur Vorspeise Carpaccio gab es ein Brotkorb mit einem Kanten und zwei dünnen Scheibenbrot. Der Brotkorb, wurde uns aus welchen Gründen auch immer während des Essens vom Tisch geräumt, obwohl wir nur eine dieser 3 cm großen Brotscheiben gegessen hatten. Es wird nicht gefragt, ob man noch etwas zu trinken möchte, sobald jemand fertig ist wird der Teller ohne zu fragen weggenommen,…. Kreditkarten werden nicht akzeptiert. Und bei der Barzahlung wird einfach kein Restgeld rausgegeben. Wir haben nachgefragt, wo unser Wechselgeld ist. Dann wird es erst einem widerspenstig zurückgegeben.

Für uns die beste Pizzeria im Landkreis 😋 super gastfreundlich, man wartet nicht lang und geschmacklich ein Traum👌🏼

Das Restaurant hat ein schönes Ambiente und der Chef ist wirklich sehr nett, aber die Erfahrung mit dem Essen war enttäuschend. Die Portion Spaghetti aglio e olio für fast 10€ war viel zu klein und geschmacklich enttäuschend. Die Nudeln waren ungesalzen und der Knoblauch sowie die Peperoni hatten keinen Geschmack. Außerdem waren 6 ganze Knoblauchzehen auf dem Teller, die nicht einmal richtig zerschnitten waren. Die Pizza war durchschnittlich und könnte eine geschmackvollere Soße sowie weniger Fett vertragen. Insgesamt war es kein authentisches italienisches kulinarisches Erlebnis. Es wäre schön, wenn man mehr echte Zutaten aus Italien verwenden würde. Wer richtig geile italienische Küche sucht findet diese hier nicht. Daher gebe ich dem Restaurant 2 von 5 Punkten. Hier werde ich leider nicht wieder essen.

Ein schönes italienisches Restaurant in ruhiger Lage. Wir waren zum Abendessen dort und hatten (zum Glück) reserviert. Das Essen war super lecker und auch das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

War waren gerade hier zum Abendessen gewesen. Sehr freundlicher Chef und nettes, zuvorkommendes Personal. Die Pizza war sehr lecker und groß gewesen. Preise sind völlig in Ordnung. Das Ambiente ist gemütlich. Alles in allem, Top. 👍 Hier werden wir auf jeden Fall gerne wieder einkehren. Solchen Service findet man nur noch selten.

Die Dame die uns einen Platz zugewiesen und die Bestellung aufgenommen hatte war sehr freundlich. Der Chef hatte es anscheinend nicht nötig die Gäste durch ein einfaches Hallo zubegrüßen. Die Pizza war in Ordnung aber nichts besonderes.

Die Wartezeiten waren völlig okay was die 2 Sterne begründet. Aber für diese kleine Portion Nudeln fast 13€ zu verlangen ist eine Bodenlose Frechheit... Desweieteren waren sämtlich pizzn verbrannt, die Nudelgerichte wohlgemerkt mit Brokkoli bestellt und mit Blattspinat bekommen haben nach einem Hauch von nichts geschmeckt...

Immer eine gute Idee da hin zu gehen 👍

Tolles Ambiente, nette und schnelle Bedienung.

Man kann schön draußen sitzen. Die Getränke sind recht teuer. Ich hatte die Pizza mit Meeresfrüchten, diese waren sauer eingelegt und geschmacklich überhaupt nicht mein Ding. Schade. Service war gut, das Personal freundlich.

Liebes Pizzaria Da Carlo Team, ich war mehrfach dort essen (insgesamt 9 mal). Normalerweise ist es so, dass ich was zu beklagen habe, jedoch ist dies hier nie der Fall gewesen. Egal mit Freunden, Familie oder Bekannten die Pizzeria Da Carlo liefert immer ein gutes Ambiente, ab und zu sportliche Unterhaltung durch die Tennisanlage, nettes freundliches Personal (Lasst den Servieren gerne Mal Trinkgeld die haben es sich redlich verdient), saubere Toilette und natürlich die unschlagbaren Pizzen und Pastas ! Ich esses gerne die Pizza mit den Parmaschinken und Gorgonzola oder die 4 Käse. Ein echter Gaumenschmaus ! Macht bitte weiter so ! Ich empfehle euer Restaurant ohne Bedenken gerne weiter. Bis zum nächsten Mal.

Gemütlich, nettes Personal, gute Preise, gutes Essen. Lohnt sich. Auch draussen kann man sitzen. Ist aber bei gutem Wetter auch bestens besucht.

Ich mag das Ambiente, den Eigentümer, die Küche und natürlich das Essen!

Schön ruhig gelegen, man kann bei schönem Wetter gut draußen sitzen, gute Pizza, Eis und Cappuccino - unbedingte Empfehlung!

Wenn man Glück hat läuft alles gut und schmeckt auch, habe sehr unterschiedliche Erfahrungen gemacht, wurden auch schon abgewiesen, es gäbe kein Nachtisch und wir fühlten uns nicht wohl, es wurde auch schon vergessen das Essen zu bringen usw. aber oft war auch schon alles ok, kommt drauf an...zumindest wird man hier nicht von schmierigen Kellnern bedient.

Essen (Pizza) war sehr lecker, Bedienung freundlich . Die Ausstattung ehr einfach bzw rustikal.

Authentisch italienische Küche. Peronal lustig und freundlich. Ambiente sehr angenehm. Wir hatten Pizzen, diese waren sehr gut und wir haben schon einge Pizzen in Italien gegessen. Preisleistung sehr gut. Topp Empfehlung

Die italienischen Gerichte sind frisch zubereitet und sehr lecker. Auch sind die Bedienungen sehr nett und waren trotz des vollen Restaurants sehr flott unterwegs. Zum Schluss setzte sich der Besitzer mit an unseren Tisch und fragte nach Verbesserungen. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder.

Lieber Carlo und ihr netten Mitarbeiter! Wir waren gestern bei euch Pizza essen und sind zum ersten Mal furchtbar enttäuscht von der Pizza!! Habt ihr einen anderen Pizzabäcker? Diese waren sowas von ausgetrocknet, hart und garnicht fluffig und teilweise verbrannt….hoffen sehr,daß dies nicht zum Standart wird. Wir hatten uns so auf deine Pizzen gefreut… leider ganz große Enttäuschung. Bitte lass den richtigen Pizzabäcker wieder an den Ofen.

Wir waren auf Grund einer Empfehlung hier. Wir haben zwei Sorten Pizza und drei Sorten Nudeln gegessen. Jedes einzelne Gericht war sehr lecker und wir würden es jederzeit wieder bestellen. Die Pizza für unser Kind haben wir in klein bestellt und es wurden knapp 2€ vom Preis abgezogen. Eine Kugel Eis gab es für Junior sogar aufs Haus. Der Espresso im Nachgang war auch gut. Innen ist es schön eingerichtet, das Personal und der Chef selbst war stets freundlich, sehr aufmerksam und schnell. Trotz vollem Restaurant und voller Terrasse haben wir nicht lange auf das Essen warten müssen. Wir kommen gerne wieder

Carlo und einiges Personal sind original italienisch. Sie sind alle super freundlich. Die Pizzen sind super. Das Bruschetta ist erstklassig. Ein sehr schönes Ambiente auf der Terrasse direkt am Tennisplatz. Aber seit diesem Jahr ca. 50% teurer. Da können wir nicht mehr so oft dort essen gehen.
