It's great up in the castle café 👍🙂. Above all, the food was excellent!!! It was a worthy birthday. I've read through some of the reviews here and I can't understand the bad ones at all. 1. The castle café is really easy to find, especially since everything on the Heidecksburg is well signposted, but here too, anyone who can read has a clear advantage 😅. But you can also ask questions or every cell phone has a good navigation system these days😉. 2. The food (Soljanka, Watzburger black beer goulash with croquettes and game goulash with dumplings) was great!!! Both in terms of taste and how it was prepared. And everything you saw and tasted was 100% handmade. Big praise to the chef!!! It came quickly, was hot and, as I said, tasted very good. All in all, we were completely satisfied and would love to come back!!!

08/31/24/ 11:40... on Google it says "open"... at the lower entrance there is a sign with "from 11:00" at the main entrance "from 11:30" the door is locked and there is an obviously overwhelmed person inside I think it's unnecessary to give a quick bit of information...definitely no restaurateurs...incompetent, without professionalism...no one answers the phone either...when they're thirsty, the staff sits on the terrace and obviously sunbathes their testicles and notices when asked...only from ,, 12:30 p.m. “…thanks but no thanks!!!

Actually great. Just have to stick to the opening times. Standing in front of a closed door. There's not even a writing on the door why it's closed and the internet also says it's open. Too bad

The only good thing about the restaurant is the view. The food only comes after 2 hours, tastes bad, is carelessly decorated, and some of it is cold. The espresso is cold, the milk in the latte is sour and the service is clumsy. I really recommend all potential guests not to visit this location. This restaurant is an imposition.

We went to the restaurant for lunch and coffee for my mother's 85th birthday. We had reserved in advance and specifically asked to decorate the table. When we were seated, 2 tables were pushed together, no tablecloths, no decorations, nothing. But it was asked if we needed a vase for flowers. So it was known that there was a special occasion. The meal took forever, the first ones were already finished when the last one, also a child, got his food. Food was average. After lunch we had a tour of the castle and then went back to the cafe for coffee. We first had to ask for the tables to be wiped down as only the plates from lunch were cleared away. The ice cream sundaes and iced coffee cannot be described as such because the ice cream had already melted. Overall, we were very disappointed and cannot recommend the castle cafe. Only the ambience and the view of the city are nice.

As for the game goulash, it was definitely not freshly prepared, the meat was dry and only a few pieces on it, well ok then it said wild mushrooms on it, there were maybe 3 on it, the rest with normal mushrooms on it 2 small piles on a huge plastic plate so nothing more elegant . The glasses were cloudy and not clean. The service was friendly, but there was a lack of competence even in the service because when you order food, I know that the trained waiter suggests wines for certain meals. I think the criticism is justified because if you want prices that high, the food + cleanliness + service should be at the top level. Paid total: 50:30€ for the fun that is absolutely not justified

The food was subpar for the price level. Meat and fish dry, as if warmed up from the day before and never freshly prepared. The side salad is already dried out, half of the lemons are also already dry. Long waiting time with a maximum of 10 other guests. Consequently, no change/improvement was noticed even after the alleged change of concept. No recommendation!

When it was still the Meatwerq, it was basically a little paradise. An incredibly good card. There was a very good line between the meat and the selection of drinks (cocktails, wine). Unfortunately, there is now no trace of it. The former flair of the upscale steakhouse has completely disappeared. Very unfortunate. It had an absolute unique selling point, it was the only one in the area and much better than those further away. Unfortunately, these times are over... Now there is Thuringian cuisine, which is much easier to find in every village in the area. Please bring the Meatwerq back!!

The view is really nice if you know where to go, as the location is not easy to find if you don't know your way around. The waiter had overslept, okay it was said straight away and he was there quickly. The prices are quite reasonable, although they are sometimes incomprehensible to me. I ordered the tip from the menu (Watzdorfer black beer goulash) and the portion was simply too small for the price. The potato balls were not homemade, and the cucumber salad tasted ok. My friend had the salmon trout fillet, the fillet was fried a little too long and the side dishes were tasteless. All in all, you can say that there is not enough on offer for the money asked. The service was friendly and attentive, but the location was dead quiet, which spoiled the atmosphere a bit. No vegetarian main courses are offered.

This is the third time we have been here since the reopening. The food tastes good. The portions could be a little larger. The wait for food is longer than average. On our last visit we were told it would take about 1.5 hours. That was too long for us and the boys (12 years old). The waiter is very nice, but could be a little more attentive when it comes to replenishing drinks. The ambience/view on the terrace is really nice. Opening hours are not suitable for such a restaurant. Wed-Fri 4-9 p.m. Too late for a coffee and far too short for a cozy evening. Sunday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. was far too short, again no coffee and no dinner. Tourists in particular are out and about here a lot on Sundays. There is a shortage of staff everywhere, but this will not lead to success. Unfortunately. Price-wise a bit high. Glass of white wine 7.90 euros is sporty.

We were here again for the first time after the "re-opening" and were unfortunately disappointed. On the one hand, there was the waiting time that was too long....The potatoes with the asparagus were far too dark and peeled off. The cucumber salad was not seasoned, in its own juice, so to speak. The roulades tasted ok, but were very firm and dry on the inside. The black beer goulash was like mush. The nice young man who served us did his best. The restaurant itself is something special, especially the great view from up here! Let's hope that the chef does better and wish the team much success!

So overall the food was quite good, price/performance and the waiting time was okay. Service is okay, but could be a little more attentive, then the guests would perhaps bring in more sales. The location itself is of course great, nice view over Rudolstadt. There was olive oil from 2021 on the table. Unfortunately, all types of beer except Pilsner were not available, even though it was on the menu. Given the demands that Mestwerq makes according to its website, I don't think anything like that should happen.

Hello Meatwerq team! We were at your place for dinner. The food was spot on, except that the chef was perhaps a little amorous, but it was still well within limits. The service took us to the table, where we then noticed that there were dogs running loose behind the counter, which we didn't think was great in terms of hygiene. The employees behind the counter didn't make a nice face, but rather a very annoyed face when guests came. We didn't really feel welcome. It would be nice if you couldn't see such facial expressions in service. The drinks were lukewarm and served with lots of ice. If we had been made to feel welcome it would have made up for it, but that wasn't the case. A real shame!

This was our second time there and we were disappointed for the second time. At such a price level you also expect the food to taste good. As was the case the first time, the steaks were inedible and not as fried as we wanted them to be, and half of the dishes arrived completely cold. This really ruins your evening. The cook should be replaced quickly, otherwise the shop will soon be closed.

Just went there for dinner and it was really damn tasty. The meat was on point and the side dishes and sauces were also very tasty. We would love to come back...

We had our Christmas party there on December 5th. All food was cold. There was no discount for the cold food. 250€ for 4 people was just disappointing for the quality we were offered. It's a shame we'll never come back

Wenn ich die Bewertungen hier lese, hattet ihr am 05.12. wohl den schwärzesten Tag im Jahr. Wenn Kollegen aus der Gastro kommen und die Teller sehen aus wie Schulküche. Und 10 von 11 Essen sind gerade mal warm. Schlimm. Es gab einen Nachlass auf die Rechnung aber auch viele traurige Gesichter. Schade.

Wir waren hier das erste Mal gewesen. Ich muss sagen, es war einfach wunderbar. Hier hat alles gestimmt. Vom Ambiente über den Service bis zum Essen. Hervorheben möchte ich die Beratung. Es gab verschiedene Rindfleischangebote. Habe nach den Unterschieden gefragt, Herkunft und so weiter. Mir wurde alles genau erklärt und auch eine Empfehlung abgegeben. Ich habe die Empfehlung genommen und es war einfach phantastisch. Ich würde jederzeit wiederkommen. Preislich natürlich nicht günstig, aber ich bin persönlich der Meinung das gute Küche mit exzellenten Service einen Preis haben muss. Macht weiter so.

Der Weg zum Restaurant ist etwas schwer zu finden, dafür wird man mit einem genialen Blick von der Burg belohnt. Der Service im Restaurant war super, was man vom Essen nicht sagen kann. Für den Preis, der echt absolut nicht gerechtfertigt ist, war das Essen für uns nur mittelmäßig. Das Fleisch schon kalt, für die Beilagen extreme Preise die auch die Qualität nicht wert sind. Der Tisch den wir bekommen haben, stand in der Nähe vom Eingang, wo es auch zu den Toiletten geht. Der Geruch von dort ist absolut störend beim Essen. Für uns mal eine Erfahrung wert aber muss nicht nochmal sein, nicht zu den Konditionen. Das was wirklich entschädigt hat, war der super Ausblick.

Das Restaurant ist stilvoll und modern eingerichtet. Der Service ist zuvorkommend und freundlich. Ich hatte das Rib eye Steak. Für meine Empfinden, war es etwas zu dünn geschnitten, geschmacklich war es aber vollkommen in Ordnung. Das Angebot ist super, es gibt wirklich Gerichte auf der Karte, die man nicht immer findet.

Wir waren seit der Eröffnung schon viermal hier. Ich habe viermal das gleiche gegessen. Leider schmeckte es jedesmal anders und war auch anders zusammengestellt. Das darf bei einem Restaurant dieser Preisklasse nicht passieren, da muss auf jeden Fall nachgearbeitet werden. Der Service ist aber wirklich top, sie sind schnell, kompetent und super freundlich.

Sehr schöne Lage des Restaurants super nette Bedienung und tolles Essen. Freue mich schon auf den nächsten Besuch.

Der Blick von der Terrasse auf die Stadt ist unbezahlbar. Das Essen überraschend lecker und ausreichend. Man sollte sich im Klaren sein, daß die Gewichtsangaben des Fleischs dem Rohzustand entsprechen. Tolles Steakhaus!

Bestes Fleisch im schönen Ambiente hoch über der beschaulichen Rudolstadt! Zuvorkommender Service. Burata mit Pesto als Vorspeise, Variationen von Tartar, Wagyu-Steaks, argentinische Steaks, regionales Fleisch, alles zu moderaten Preisen. Auch die Weinkarte mit guten Angeboten. Ein echter Genuss!

Die Anfänglichen Schwierigkeiten, den Weg vom Parkplatz über das Gelände zum Restaurant zu finden, waren schnell vergessen. Ein durchaus Herzlicher Empfang durch das Serviceteam bei Betreten des Restaurants, hebte sofort wieder die Stimmung. Der Ausblick und das Ambiente sind einfach klasse! Ein so gutes Essen, habe ich ebenfalls schon lange nicht mehr erhalten. Die Bedienung immer zuvorkommend und freundlich. Ich würde 6 Sterne geben, wenn es ginge!! Mein Resümee: Sehr empfehlenswert!!! Ich würde sagen, hier bekommt man noch etwas für sein Geld. Weiter so!

Ich habe schon lange keine so guten Spareribs wie hier gegessen. Echt super lecker kann man absolut empfehlen. Das Personal ist super freundlich und der Ausblick auf der Terrasse einfach herrlich. Klare Empfehlung, wir kommen wieder.

Wir waren mit 4 Personen zum Essen gegangen. Wurde von den sehr freundlichen Service Mitarbeiter zum Tisch gebracht und sehr gut beraten. Das tolle Ambiente mit der schönen Aussicht auf Rudolstadt passt einfach zusammen. Das Essen ist fantastisch wofür sich das Geld definitiv lohnt. Die passenden Weine empfiehlt das geschulte Personal ☺️ Es war ein rundum gelungener Abend , den wir gerne wiederholen!

Preis und Leistung spricht für sich. Für den Preis ein so qualitatives und wohl schmeckendes Essen zu bekommen ist selten und das Team von Meatwerq bekommt es hin, spitze. Der Service ist außerdem sehr gut und die Kellner freundlich. Wir freuen uns auf den Nächsten Besuch.

Herr Fischer und sein Team vom Meatwerq Bar BQ haben unsere Hochzeit im Juli 2022 ausgerichtet. Wir ließen unsere Pre-Wedding-Party am Vortag der Hochzeit mit ca. 80 Gästen (im Restaurant und auf der unteren Ebene der Heidecksburg/ vor dem Restaurant) sowie die Hochzeitsfeierlichkeiten am darauffolgenden Tag mit ca. 160 Gästen ausrichten (inkl. Sektempfang, Kaffee/ Kuchen unter der Baumallee auf der mittleren Ebene der Heidecksburg, Tischbuffet in der Reithalle, Mitternachtssnack). Die Location mit Blick über Rudolstadt ist traumhaft und bereits zur Pre-Wedding-Party konnten wir kaum fassen, welch wundervolles Ambiente und toller Service unsere Hochzeit einläuten sollten. Das BBQ-Buffet war einzigartig und hochwertig. Das Kaffetrinken am Hochzeitstag unter der Baumallee war wie ein wahrgewordener Traum (es wehte ein laues Sommerlüftchen, die Bäume spendeten Schatten, ein wundervolles Ambiente) und das Tischbuffet am Abend in der Reithalle war über alle Maßen hervorragend. Von Beginn an bis zum Schluss hat das Team Großartiges geleistet und wir als Brautpaar als auch unsere Gäste waren begeistert vom freundlichen und schnellen Service und dem außerordentlich guten Essen sowie den Getränken. Wir können Herrn Fischer und seinem Team nicht genug danken, dass er unsere Hochzeit durch seinen einwandfreien Service zu etwas absolut Exquisiten und Einzigartigen gemacht hat. Sehr schönes Ambiente mit Blick auf Rudolstadt. Das Personal ist sehr nett, leider war da RibEye Steak etwas zäh und die Trüffelpaste etwas fad. Der Burger war ok. Ich werde aber sicher noch einmal wieder hin gehen, eine zweite Chance haben sie auf jeden Fall verdient.

Es war ein unglaublich schöner und gemütlicher Abend, das Essen war mega lecker. Die Kellner sehr zuvorkommend und aufmerksam. Wir waren rundum zufrieden.

Modern gestyltes Steakhouse im Park des Schlosses. Von der Terrasse hat man einen atemberaubenden Blick über Rudolstadt und die Berge. Das Essen war perfekt, meine Spareribs butterzart und lecker gewürzt. Wer draußen sitzen will, sollte vorbestellen, das Restaurant ist gut besucht. Die Bedienung war sehr nett, wir haben uns wohlgefühlt und empfehlen das Steakhouse weiter.
