We stopped overnight in town and were surprised to find most places closed. This small Italian restaurant was open and fully booked. They managed to squeeze us in. There was a large choice of food on the menu.

The food was delicious. The staff were very friendly and flexible when we made the reservation over the phone, as we couldn't say exactly when we would arrive after our hike. The rooms were beautifully designed. But the service was the worst. We had barely sat down and were asked for drinks. We said three times that we needed a little time because we wanted to look at the menu. The waiter stubbornly stood close to us with his pen in writing position. Immediately afterwards, another waitress came and asked for our food order. Here, too, we had to ask for time. A minute later, the third waitress came and asked again about the food. While the food was still waiting, another waitress came running, stopping briefly to ask if we were okay or if we needed anything. At this point, we had just ordered food and had three full glasses in front of us. During the meal, we were asked twice more, in this unpleasant, lightning-fast manner, whether everything was okay. We didn't feel like we were really being noticed. More like we were being brushed off. The feeling that remained was "Eat and then go, make room." It's a real shame; I missed the Italian dolce vita.

The food was good, but it took a very long time to arrive. The pizza was too doughy for me, but that's purely a matter of taste. On the other hand, it was really large and generously topped. Wrapping the remaining pizza for takeout, well, let's say, was done with barely adequate aluminum foil and was dripping all over the place. The prices are surprisingly reasonable for the size.

In short: higher prices, lower quality, and disastrous service. For more than 10 years, we've been dining at "Manu's" several times a year. We received gift vouchers for Christmas and birthdays and always looked forward to the time off at our previous "favorite Italian restaurant" in beautiful Bad Staffelstein. Why so far? We were very disappointed with our visit today. Our first impression of the very young waiter was already negative: His "clumsy" and arrogant manner, as well as his unprofessional communication, were difficult to bear, even during the greeting. My partner was handed the menu after me, and when she was taking her order, she was ignored after choosing her drink. We had the impression that they expected "the man" to order. Emancipation doesn't work! Looking at the menu, we noticed that all dishes had increased by about 15-20% since our last visit. The large salad à la Manu now costs €13.50, and a pasta or pizza dish costs around €15. Since the quality and portion sizes had been excellent so far, we weren't deterred. The disappointment came when the appetizers were served. My partner received the wrong dish, and my salad was about a third smaller than before. They've also drastically cut back on tuna, eggs, ham, etc. - anyone who wants more salad dressing now has to pay a €2 surcharge, according to the menu, which I find outrageous given the base price. In addition, the bread that accompanies the salad, which was usually freshly baked and still warm, is also gone. The slices were from the day before, dried out, and sometimes hard. There was nothing wrong with my pizza with salmon and arugula; it tasted delicious as usual. However, the spaghetti frutti di mare arrived 15 minutes after my pizza, so I was almost finished before my partner received her main course. The Parmesan cheese we ordered with the pasta was never brought by the waiter, and the cappuccino we ordered afterward was also forgotten. We were sitting on the terrace and noticed that the guests around us were also complaining about long waits, forgotten or incorrect dishes, and the delay in serving food to groups of guests. The waiter was full of excuses, always blaming the kitchen or his colleagues. Furthermore, apologies to guests were scarce; instead, he commented on complaints in an arrogant manner and not in keeping with the restaurant's standards. At the neighboring table, an espresso was promised as an apology, but the guests never received it. After waiting 20 minutes for our cappuccino, we ordered the bill (the waiter's comment: "My colleague probably didn't notice."). The coffee was available at the neighboring ice cream parlor within three minutes of ordering. I'd also like to mention that we arrived at 5:45 p.m., and at that time, the restaurant was almost exclusively occupied outside and not overcrowded. In the past, we've always admired the excellent processes, even when the house was full. Bye, Manu - unfortunately, we won't see each other again.

The food was very good, especially the fact that the pizza wasn't overstuffed was great. Unfortunately, the waitresses weren't trained at all. This isn't their fault (it's the manager's), but they had no idea what the dishes on the weekly menu were, and after I ordered something, she came back 10 minutes later to say they didn't have any duck today. And it's really annoying outside, with people constantly coming out and smoking next to you, which spoils the taste a bit.

This was our first time at this restaurant and we found the food to be delicious. We had made a reservation a few days in advance. Unfortunately, we had to wait a long time to order and then another 40 minutes for our drinks. These arrived along with the starters. The pizza arrived promptly and was delicious, as was the bruschetta and the drinks. When we wanted to pay and had waited another 30 minutes, we went in and asked for the bill. After being asked if everything was okay, we said how good the food was, but politely mentioned that the wait was really long and too long, especially for drinks in the summer with 30 degrees Celsius. Then someone (apparently the boss) intervened and interrupted my husband, saying, "You don't need to come at me like that, buddy!" That remark alone is completely unacceptable! We said that this was just constructive criticism and that we would have appreciated a friendly reminder at the beginning that they were short staffed. Because it's not the guests' fault, and they can prepare themselves for longer wait times or possibly go somewhere else. If a restaurant decides to staff every table anyway, they also have to deliver the service they deserve. The man then said, "You don't need to come to me with constructive criticism!" Unfortunately, the visit, or rather the end of it, was a complete disaster, and the restaurant showed no understanding for its guests. The table next to us also decided to go to another restaurant after this incident and the long wait. The food is delicious, but the service is unfortunately very poor, so we won't be back. We had high hopes, but unfortunately these hopes were not fulfilled.

Last night, I enjoyed the best pizza I've ever had. The crust was excellent, the toppings fresh and simply delicious. Even choosing the pizza was difficult, as the menu didn't offer just the usual "same old pizza." The service was unobtrusively friendly and extremely attentive. At this point, I'd like to say a huge thank you for the ice pack I received for my injured knee.

I ate there three or four years ago and came back again this year. What can I say, the pizza was just as good as it was back then. But please remember, this is my taste.

Centrally located in Bad Staffelstein, easily accessible. We really like the pizzeria. We recommend the pizza fresh from the wood oven, super delicious! Also different seasonal versions. In summer you can sit outside.

We were there for dinner today. My husband ordered the Tyrolean ham for his pizza and wanted it with spinach. The pizza then came without his wishes. Since my husband doesn't eat meat (also for health reasons), he had the pizza returned because he hadn't ordered it. A few minutes later the pizza arrived to his liking. While eating, he suddenly found the Tyrolean ham on his pizza again. So the ham was eaten off the “wrong” pizza. This was then addressed and the waitress didn't even apologize for it or anything. Very weak behavior. There are people who cannot eat meat due to allergies etc. You don't want to imagine what would happen if these people were told that the pizza was now without meat and then they ate some.

I can't say much since I only ever pick up there, but the pizzas... they are a delight 😊

Da in Bad Staffelstein in der Nebensaison gastronomisch nicht viel los ist, ist Manu eine angenehme Überraschung. Ein netter Italiener mit guten Holzofenpizzas, leckeren Nudelgerichten und flotter Bedienung. Das Lokal ist abends gut besucht, am besten also vorab einen Tisch reservieren, sonst irrt man hungrig duch das Städtchen!

Too hot, too narrow, too loud, too bright. You can't understand your own words because of all the background noise. Ambiance is 0. Everything is far too bright and sterile. The tables and seats are positioned so tightly that you can't stretch your legs properly.

Pizza was good, you can tell that cheap ingredients were not used. I was disappointed with the spagetti carbonara because I was hoping to get it like in Italy, unfortunately it was just a cream sauce like the Germans probably prefer, it's a matter of taste! We were there on a Sunday and of course it was busy so there was a longer wait for food and payment but the staff was very friendly!
