Ristorante Le Candele in Würzburg

Erst einmal möchte ich darauf hinweisen, dass die Betreiber bei Google alle Rezensionen mit ein oder zwei Sternen löschen lassen. Wer das nicht glaubt, werfe bitte einen Blick auf die Sterne-Verteilung: 2.426 Rezensionen und keine einzige Bewertung unter drei Sternen. Meine Rezension wurde auch gelöscht, obwohl sie der Wahrheit entspricht. Also nochmal hier grob zusammengefasst: Pizza war etwas zu kurz drin, trotzdem am Boden leicht verbrannt. Nudeln waren noch sehr al dente und hatten leider einen sehr unangenehmen Beigeschmack, der an verbranntes Plastik erinnert.

We went here because of the excellent reviews. The staff is very friendly, quick service. However, the pizza’s were “okay”, not 4.7 worthy. These were not real Italian pizza’s. The homemade oils were nice. Don’t go here if you want real Italian pizza’s.

Not recommended, couldn't get a seat despite reservation! What a bad service

The food was very tasty and the service was excellent. My girlfriend has celiac disease and is therefore not allowed to eat gluten or lactose. She would react even to small traces. The restaurant handled this perfectly and she was also able to enjoy the delicious food without any worries.

For us, a pizza or a pasta dish from “Le Candele” is simply a must when visiting Würzburg. The price for take-away pizza or pasta (€7) is simply unbeatable. And it tastes good too. Since our daughter has to eat gluten-free, it's not that easy to find something tasty that isn't overpriced. Here the gluten-free dishes to take away cost “only €5” extra. Top! You can also pre-order online. I personally don't like the atmosphere in the restaurant that much, but that's my personal opinion. The waitresses are all very friendly.

Primitivo red wine for €9.90 is excessive. Pizza was very good

Unfortunately we had a seat on the 1st floor and the atmosphere is like a market hall. The food was average and lukewarm. Definitely not again.

Food was good, best bruschetta I've eaten out so far. Pasta al dente, only one dish a little salty, but that's probably a matter of taste. Service was quick and friendly, we asked several times if we wanted something more to drink. Tables are relatively close together. The restaurant was well attended. What struck me as particularly positive: care is taken to ensure that all the food comes to the table at the same time, so that all guests can eat together at the same table.

It was a completely successful evening. From the service to the food, everything was top. Very good food and good value for money. We would be happy to come back.

So far everything we've eaten there has been very good. Our favorite is the Pizza Rustica with lots of garlic oil on the side. It's better to reserve space on weekends.

My son wanted spaghetti carbonara and the portions are quite filling. Only the lighting in the place was very dim, it could have been a little brighter. It is very good at wine and beer. Our waiter took great care of us. The ambience and location in the middle of Würzburg are definitely top. The meals were all legggäää and the price-performance ratio was just right for the lunch break. Service was unsatisfactory... the reserved table was occupied, although many tables were still free (lunchtime on weekdays)... drinks and food were forgotten 🤨 Let's see...

Pizza was watery and with little flavor. Although not crispy, the base was full of burnt leftovers from the oven, probably the pizzaiolo doesn't clean the oven. Pizza was also perfectly round, which indicates either ready-made dough or machine processing. You don't have to come for the pizza. Maybe the pasta is better. For a 4.7 rating I would have expected more.

Good, classic Italian. Friendly service, nice selection of food and drinks at fair prices. In summer there are outdoor spaces. We have been here several times and have always eaten well. Thank you and see you next time.

Non mai mangiato così male in vita mia, una vergogna spacciarsi per cucina italiana imparate prima a cucinare e poi aprite un ristorante . Piatti di tortellini lasagne affogate in una pseudo besciamella liquida , riso ai frutti di mare dal sapore acido e acqua a 5.90 euro a bottiglia da 0.75 cl e conto troppo salato in tutti i sensi . Sconsigliato! Questa non è la vera cucina italiana mal rappresentata a wurzburg in Germania.

Professional service. Delicious food and nice ambience located in the city center

So the food and the dessert taste very good and are also attractively prepared. Gourmet block can be used. Without it it is sometimes a bit expensive. The service is very friendly. The ambience is okay. Sometimes everything is a bit tight. The sanitary facilities are in need of renovation. You get there via a barely lit stairwell.

The Lambrusco (glass) with over €8.50 is a rip-off.

Very tasty, good service. Higher but justified prices. Unfortunately it was very crowded, you could basically steal food from the table next door, it was almost like a canteen atmosphere. Otherwise very nice and always worth a visit👍🏼

We had reserved a table for our Christmas party. The moment we arrived the restaurant was packed. After waiting in the aisle for about 10 minutes, we were sent to our table. A table for 4 with 6 chairs. It was super tight. The waiter just said that it was full today. The other tables were also super close together. I've never sat so closely. With a wheelchair, walker or stroller it would have been impossible to enter the restaurant, let alone get to a table. The food was ok but nothing outstanding. The fries were partly soggy because they were under the meat or the plate was too small. Luckily the pizzas weren't that big, otherwise all the plates wouldn't have fit on the table. I've never experienced anything like that. And an absurdity if you have reserved. The only thing that counts here is to cash in on as many people as possible.

A very nice place with good Italian food

A kilo pack of wheat flour in the supermarket costs €0.69. Kilo pack of spelled flour €1.49. LeCandele spelled surcharge simply €5. Spelled surcharge in euros is not declared anywhere. Only upon request. Each drink also costs just under €6. Complete rip off store.

Our head waiter DENIS was absolutely outstanding. He was extremely attentive, friendly and enriched our evening with his friendly demeanor. It's rare to experience such a truly impressive, committed and professional service!

Attention, website is out of date! The breakfast menu includes an Italian breakfast, an omelette and 3 different scrambled egg variants. We went to Le Candele for breakfast because we saw the restaurant in the Schlemmerblock and the online menu sounded very promising. Unfortunately quite disappointing. Hardly any choice on the breakfast menu. Service came once to ask if the food was OK. But then no more. We were the only guests and our glasses/cups were empty. The taste of the food was good, but unfortunately far from what we expected based on the online menu. We had announced that the occasion was a birthday. Unfortunately, this was not taken into account at all. Too bad. Positive: there was gluten-free pizza bread

Even though we had reserved, we were offered a table directly at the staircase in the cloakroom. So we had to sit in the middle of a drafty passage under a light that was far too bright. Unfortunately there wasn't a cozy atmosphere at all, so we didn't stay. In order to prevent something like this, we actually made a special reservation.

Attracted by the good reviews, we were quite disappointed. The Fruite de Mare pizza was black on the bottom and watery on top. The tuna was missing from the Capricciosa salad, which we unfortunately noticed too late. The service was good.

Apparently overbooked on principle, despite having a reservation we had to wait quite a long time for a table and were then seated at a shaky table in the passage area. After intervention, we were given another seat, but we had to vacate it again after the starter because they wanted to put several tables together for a large company. The food was good, but the room was so full that there was unfortunately no sense of peace and comfort.

Despite having a reservation, we were allowed to sit in the stairwell because every hole is filled with tables and chairs, so not even the fire doors can close. The food and service was really good, but the drinks were a bit expensive.

I've eaten here several times and have always been satisfied. From fish to pasta with seafood, everything was great. What is not possible is the truffle pizza with pickled truffles. I think that's an absolute no-go, also quite tasteless, and at €25 it's too expensive. Too bad!

We had dinner with the Schlemmerblock. First we were offered a place in the “winter garden” with 25 degrees. We ended up sitting outside on the street, freezing, the heat lamps couldn't improve the ambience. Upon request, we were allowed to sit inside at a very small table right by the door. The food was mediocre, the Calzone Special had uncut ham, salami and a bunch of peppers. There was an unpleasant smell in the toilet and the soap was empty. The Johannschorle was mixed with a lot of water and the (too) many waitresses seemed underutilized. Overall, a mediocre visit, especially considering that ordering and picking up pizza is cheaper.

We had reserved a table for 2. Unfortunately, when we arrived we had to wait 15 minutes pressed against tables in the completely overcrowded dining room. Only to discover that no table had been reserved for us at all. Instead we were offered a table in the staircase. No ambience, no style...just mass processing. We are happy to pay a few euros more for a nice ambience and delicious food, everything has its price, but certainly not like this. Then they left without having achieved anything. Very, very unfortunate!

Constantly checking whether everything on the tables is OK, whether something needs to be cleared away and being asked three or four times whether you would like anything else is certainly well-intentioned but almost excessive. Especially since the ambience is nice, but very cramped and therefore quite loud. But all in all still very satisfied and very friendly staff. As is now the case almost everywhere, prices are upper average. Parking is rather bad, you can't have everything, city center with a stroll through the city or park in front of the door. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Wir waren heute Abend spontan zu fünft hier. Haben eigentlich nur Gutes gehört. Hatten Tisch bestellt. Saßen direkt an Türe zum Balkon. Diese wurde ständig geöffnet und es zog unwahrscheinlich rein. Es war viel los. Die Kellner waren sehr nett, aber genauso geschäftstüchtig. Essen war naja... Ständig wurden wir gefragt, ob wir noch einen Wunsch hätten. Letztendlich haben wir bezahlt und konnten nicht mehr wirklich austrinken, weil die nächsten Gäste schon an unserem Tisch standen. Es war unter den Kellnern ein unheimliches herumgewusele. Kam mir vor wie auf einem vollen Bahnhof. Vielleicht wären ein paar Tische weniger im Raum besser. So war es kein bisschen entspannt. Und wenig gekostet hat es auch nicht. Schade ....

Great food and friendly service. You could easily have vegetables or other things added to the pasta dishes at no extra charge. Pizza is also great, fresh salad and fresh sauces. The desserts were prepared by ourselves. Very very tasty, I will happily come back!!!

Restaurant with Mediterranean cuisine. The staff were always very friendly and accommodating and, despite the overcrowding, they never lost track of things. The restaurant was completely overcrowded when we visited, there was a queue of at least 20 people at the entrance and EVERYONE had reservations and every seat inside was occupied. The dishes we ordered (pizza, pasta, antipasti) were all good, but without particularly standing out in terms of taste.

We were there last week. The pizzas were OK, the service was good. It was just extremely cold in the rooms. The yeast at 5.90 euros is not justified in terms of price, this is an extortion. The toilets weren't clean. With beer prices like that I won't be back anymore.

I had a really nice experience at Le Candele, the staff is very professional and the restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere. The dishes are made with the finest ingredients it is definitely worth to try while in Würzburg.

Great place, worthy of a visit. Bring your appetite, the portions are large! Le Candele is easy to find in down-town Würzburg. No reservation no problem, though we were early. Place was packed on a Monday evening! Service friendly and fast. Impressive amount of choice on the menu. We craved pizza. Free chilly or garlick oil were provided should you so desire, and even gluten free dough is available no problem. Prices good (€ 50-60 total, 2 ppl), portions large, service excellent, food good quality. What's not to love here!?

During our stay in Würzburg, we were able to spontaneously make a reservation for 4 people on Saturday evening and enjoyed top quality pizzas (AllaChef, Salami e fungi, Pasta marinara and Bolognese) as well as great wines and beer. The service staff was very attentive and friendly. An enjoyable evening and definitely recommended
