I always enjoy going there. The selection is extensive, the food is very good, and even when it's busy, the food arrives quickly. The atmosphere is also pleasant, although I found it a bit cramped. Of course, where it's so good, many people want to go. Therefore: definitely make a reservation beforehand.

We ate at La Candele yesterday, January 3rd. Our reservation was for 8 pm, but they kindly allowed us to sit down earlier. The welcome was exceptionally warm. The ambiance is warm and inviting – you immediately feel like you're in Italy. The menu offers a very diverse and varied selection. We opted for tomato soup, a small salad, a spinach pizza, and a Quattro Formaggi cheese. For dessert, we chose the Tartufo Nero. Tastes are, of course, subjective, but we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. A visit is highly recommended.

Fantastic Italian restaurant! Great service! The waiters are very friendly and super nice, always right there when you need anything! The food was excellent, everything tasted absolutely delicious! The wine was superb! I can definitely recommend it! When I'm back in Würzburg, I'll definitely go to Le Candele 🤩 I didn't know about the rooftop terrace. I absolutely have to come in the summer! Best gluten-free pizza I've ever eaten! Super friendly staff!

The gluten-free pizza tasted excellent. I think the extra charge of €3.00 for gluten-free pasta or pizza base is fair. The staff is knowledgeable about gluten-free options. The pizza is prepared and baked separately, so cross-contamination is impossible. (Suitable for people with celiac disease) The gluten-free pizza dough was very crispy, and thank you for offering gluten-free options.

We spontaneously got a table for two and had a wonderful meal. The service was excellent, and the pasta and squid were superb. Prices... well, it's Würzburg, a bit higher than back home in the Lichtenfels area. We're living in the moment 😋

I didn't order a drink as I had my bike bottle with water, but the spaghetti carbonara was unique.

I visited Würzburg the day before Christmas and went to Le Candele based on its excellent online reviews. Unfortunately, I have to say that I can't quite share the enthusiasm of many of the reviews after my visit. The restaurant is visually very appealing. The dimmed lighting and indirect illumination create a charming, almost romantic atmosphere. However, the menu is almost overwhelming. As someone familiar with Italian cuisine, I find it rather odd that an authentic Italian restaurant offers a "Hawaiian Pizza"—and without any ironic wink in the price. Furthermore, the menu's design makes it difficult for guests with specific dietary requirements to find what they're looking for. There are no visual indicators or separate listings for vegetarian or vegan dishes. Given the enormous selection of dishes, one has to painstakingly read through the very meat-heavy descriptions to find something suitable. A modern and clear marking of the meat-free alternatives would significantly improve the user experience. The vegetarian pizza with spinach and feta cheese that I ordered for around €15 was a complete disappointment. The dough was soggy, making it impossible to eat by hand. The tomato sauce and the dough were completely lost under the overloaded toppings. It was, unfortunately, one of the worst pizzas I've had this year. The dessert, a panna cotta, also seemed poorly made. Both the sauce and the whipped cream lacked the freshness and consistency one would expect at this price point. On the other hand, the espresso at the end was a definite bright spot. After I had to remind the staff about my order once (despite the restaurant not being very busy), I was served a coffee that completely won me over – aromatic, with perfect crema, and excellent flavor. Perhaps I just caught them on a bad day, but for me, the price-performance ratio is currently not right. The quality of the food fell far short of the expectations raised by the fairly good reviews. A real shame.

Delicious food and friendly service

It was absolutely delicious. There were six of us. We were offered two surprise appetizer platters, and we weren't disappointed. They were amazing! The main courses were all fantastic as well. And even though the restaurant was packed, the food arrived very quickly.

We had reserved an indoor table beforehand because we had elderly people with us, but ended up sitting outside under a patio heater, which was fine. The restrooms should be checked more often; they looked rather run-down. The bruschetta appetizer was very salty, but that can happen. The main courses were delicious and beautifully presented. We'd gladly come again.

Edit 3: Dear Le Candele team, I published my original review in June 2021, which was subsequently deleted four times on the grounds of defamation. There's really nothing to clarify at the moment. Except for what happened to all the other reviews, for which I still have the links, but which have "somehow" disappeared. Hmmm... Edit 2: There have now been four attempts to have my review deleted for alleged defamation. Luckily, I paid by card at the time and can prove that I was indeed there on the day in question. Other negative reviews that I was aware of and which contained the same comments have since been deleted. So beware! The many positive reviews are partly due to attempts to have negative reviews deleted. Edit: As with several others, there was also an attempt to have my review deleted through a lawyer because it was supposedly "untrue," damaging to the business, and I was allegedly never even a guest here. So be careful! My wife has a gluten intolerance, which is why we ate here. All dishes are also available in a gluten-free version. My wife said the pizza was excellent. However, people with celiac disease should definitely ask beforehand. Now, here's why I won't be going back: 1. The bread basket you get at the beginning doesn't come with oil or vinegar. Not a big deal! But when there's a slice of bread that, due to its hardness, seems to have been left over from last week, and another slice that was obviously toasted but already cold, I don't want to know which previous customers I got the leftovers from. 2. I ordered tortellini in "Gorgonzola e Nocci" sauce. The tortellini were very al dente. They definitely needed another 3-4 minutes. They probably ran out of Gorgonzola and walnuts, because there was no sign of either on the plate. I also suspect it was just a run-of-the-mill cheese sauce. I'm really annoyed with myself now that I didn't say anything, but we were in a bit of a hurry because of an appointment at the hospital and I didn't want to wait another 20 minutes. Unfortunately, it also gave me terrible stomach problems later that evening. Since I couldn't eat anything else that day, I have to assume that this food was the cause. 3. The cutlery, in true beer garden style, was bundled together in a large stoneware mug. The mug was brought to us from the next table, where the guests had just left. I don't know if that's such a smart epidemiological approach.

The food is great! Almost all dishes are available gluten-free and taste delicious! However, the dining room is very cramped and noisy. Despite having booked in advance, we still had to wait 20 minutes for a table. The service is somewhat disorganized.

The food was generally good and tasted fine. However, I felt the price-performance ratio was off: €30 for mussels and pizza sticks is, in my opinion, far too expensive. (No bread was included as standard, which is very unusual.) Furthermore, the restaurant was very noisy, which made for a difficult and relaxing meal. The service seemed rather disinterested, making guests feel somewhat neglected. Overall, the food was good, but due to the prices, the atmosphere, and the service, it was only average.

Food was excellent and service was great - friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, we got wildly overcharged and nobody could help us explain what happened. We went as a party of 8 and most of us payed about 10-20€ more than what our individual bill should have been.

This Italian restaurant is located in the heart of Würzburg. The menu is large and varied. Service is very good. They also offer a daily specials menu. It can be a bit cramped when the restaurant is full.

It was our first time trying pizza. The place is incredibly popular, and the tables were always full. My husband is gluten-intolerant, so the waiters double-checked which pizza was right for him to avoid making a mistake. Each pizza we ordered was delicious, and we also received olive oils that were very aromatic. A lovely atmosphere and good drinks. I highly recommend it and will definitely be back.

I recently visited this Italian restaurant, and my impression is mixed. The bruschetta was a complete disappointment – ​​rather bland and not what you'd expect from a good Italian restaurant. However, the tiramisu was a real highlight: fresh, creamy, and absolutely delicious. The main course, a fish dish, was only average overall. Nothing special, but not bad either – just unremarkable. What really bothered me, though, were the exorbitant prices in relation to the quality of the food. For what was offered, the price-performance ratio simply wasn't right. On the positive side, the attentive service made the evening enjoyable nonetheless.

The hearty breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Service was impeccable. It was a bit chilly in the dining room on that Sunday.

Unfortunately, it's now only mediocre. After being seated in the stairwell last time, with a reasonably decent but still unconvincing food and service, we decided to give it another try today after a long time. To put it briefly... We used to enjoy coming to LeCandele and were proud of it. So, we gave LeCandele another chance today. The result was that the service had declined again. The food quality had deteriorated significantly. Fettuccine Bosca... Fettuccine with strips of beef tenderloin, fresh porcini mushrooms, and a "rich" sauce. The dish was drowning in cream, the porcini mushrooms seemed to have just been thawed, and the tenderloin was overcooked. Everything was simply smothered in cream sauce. The other dishes were also mediocre at best, despite the very high prices. The fact that this restaurant is crammed with seats down to the last square centimeter is an annoying side issue that reflects the greed of today's society. After this experience, this will definitely be the last time I visit LeCandele with my family.

I can definitely recommend this Italian restaurant. The food was truly excellent and homemade. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The liver was especially delicious 😋. Only the service wasn't great. Our waitress was unfriendly. Otherwise, I was very satisfied!

My wife, the kids, and I ate at Le Candele today. A truly unique atmosphere with excellent food. The children had extra small portions of pizza, and we enjoyed tender grilled fish. The price-performance ratio is good, and the service was wonderful.

The food was quite good, but the staff was horribly pushy, affected, and annoying. Too much of a good thing, with constant requests. The ambiance was very nice, but relatively expensive. Good wines were available.

I don't quite understand the reviews. Okay, we did get a table upstairs without a reservation – but it was in a corridor, more like a hallway. The ambiance is different. The pizza arrived quickly and tasted fine, but certainly not a 4.7. More like average. The service was fast and attentive. In other words: Expect a solid 4+ rather than a near 5 here.

The pizza to go is fantastic. The dough and toppings deserve 5 stars, the taste was excellent.

We went to this restaurant because in my friend's opinion the pizza is really good, but I personally disliked it. It was too heavy, the dough was too thick, and the knives they gave us weren't easy to cut pizza with. I struggled with cutting so much that my wrists hurt! While me and others can have different preferences when it comes to pizza, what I think is objectively shocking is that there was no soap, no napkins and no toilet paper in the toilet. Maybe I visited at a bad time, since it was in the evening, but, in my opinion, that is no excuse! The other women in the toilet were complaining about this too.

Yes, the rating is justified. Really good pizza, delicious tiramisu, and you could definitely drink more of that limoncello. :)

A very nice Italian restaurant with a pleasant, family-run atmosphere and an upscale ambiance. The service was attentive and friendly. I had the Crema Tartufo with linguine, simply heavenly. The sauce was creamy, intensely flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. My wife had the Pasta alla Besa with penne, also very delicious and freshly prepared. It was accompanied by two glasses of Fizzantino white wine, which paired wonderfully with the meal. There was a minor hiccup at the beginning: the oil and vinegar were forgotten. However, this was charmingly rectified with two glasses of Limoncello, a lovely gesture. For dessert, we shared the Dessert Misto per Due. The tiramisu was good, but the panna cotta with wild berries was simply outstanding—creamy, fruity, and beautifully presented. Overall, a very successful meal, fair prices, and a place I can truly recommend.

Really good food, and the service was great. As soon as I sat down, they asked what I wanted to drink. I knew it was European, but I'm not European, so I didn't have any. The waiter then recommended a 30-euro dish, which I didn't eat. I ordered a pasta and a pizza, and then they asked if I wanted a salad, which was over 20. Actually, both main courses were delicious, but the chicken was European, which was a bit dry. The salad was also delicious, but it felt a bit like they were pushing the price. If the chicken wasn't so dry and I didn't want you to order a little more, I'd give it 5 stars. The two points deducted are just personal preferences. Overall, I highly recommend it. The Rigatoni al Forno was very watery and tasteless. It cost €15.90, and I wasn't full (as a woman). The portions were small. When the waiter asked how it tasted, he didn't want to hear it. I was very disappointed with the food, and the prices were far too high. The drinks, €5.90 for 0.5 liters of water, are far too expensive, even for water.

I was there yesterday and ordered a gluten-free fungi pizza. At first, I thought you'd definitely taste it gluten-free, but it was so delicious; it was the best pizza I've ever eaten. The pizza wasn't burnt; it was just perfect. My friend really enjoyed her veggie pizza too. I paid €23 for the pizza and sparkling water (including tip). I highly recommend it 😍

We were traveling as a stag party group and stopped at Le Candele. Medina served us very well. Thank you for that, you are great. Highly recommended.

(Note: Two stars might be more appropriate, but we're giving it three because of the friendly service.) We visited the restaurant based on the many positive reviews, but were disappointed. We didn't order the pizza we had originally planned because it looked and smelled very reminiscent of a ready-made pizza at the neighboring table. We chose bruschetta for our starter. The portion was rather expensive, especially since a large green tomato stem doesn't exactly speak volumes about care or quality. For our main courses, we opted for pasta olio e peperoncino and pasta with bacon and arugula. The first was very oily and lacked flavor. The second was also unexpectedly oily, even though the menu only uses a light cream sauce. In addition, the tomato skin and another green stem spoiled the overall impression. The shandy we ordered didn't comply with our request to serve it with less lemonade. It tasted like a ready-mixed drink from a bottle, even though the menu states that they use draft beer. The service was friendly, but overall unspectacular.

PS: Medina is the best! ;) Also not to be underestimated: Denis, Medina's skilled assistant and rollercoaster rider. We've been told about the opening of new branches in Hamburg and Kassel. A great restaurant with a very pleasant atmosphere. The pasta was very good. I left very full. I especially liked the service. (Medina is the best, and her rollercoaster-riding assistant Denis was also great. We need a restaurant with those two in Hamburg!) But the entire staff was also very keen to ensure a pleasant evening. I would gladly come back!

I expected much more. As a new restaurant, I felt the empathy was lacking. Unfortunately, the risotto rice wasn't convincing. We left before dessert. The seating on the terrace isn't uniform.
