Ristorante Il Vagabondo in Hamburg

We visited Il Vagabondo for the first time yesterday before a concert, and we were thrilled. We received a warm welcome and had fantastic, aromatic, fresh pasta with delicate seafood, and once with freshly shaved truffles. We'll definitely be back.

Very cosy Italian place that seemed to host many locals and regulars. They allowed our small dog, which was the best. Food was good, nothing exceptional. Their bread and condiment service was very nice, bread freshly made. Reservations is recommended.

Il Vagabondo is definitely recommended. The pasta was fantastic. We had the fettuccine with salmon and the penne with tomatoes, arugula, and Parmesan. Creamy and perfectly seasoned. The service was friendly, but not as warm as at other Italian restaurants. The setting is stylish with unobtrusive music. The value for money is okay. It's a restaurant, not a "pasta shop." 😄

Unfortunately, our visit was a very disappointing experience. One of the servers was extremely unfriendly and seemed completely unprofessional. Instead of treating us professionally, we were dismissed with the words, "You're the worst customers, piss off." I've never experienced anything like that in a restaurant before. We only had drinks, so no comment on the food. But this kind of service precludes us from returning.

Highly recommended! The atmosphere is great, and the food is definitely worth the price. They prioritize quality over quantity! So, if you want good, tasty food, especially quality, this is the place for you.

After a long day, we were looking forward to a nice pizza and pasta with the kids. The prices were very high and the taste was very exclusive. There was nothing on the menu for us, so we just opted for drinks. We were then practically kicked out! The staff became extremely rude and insulting! Thanks for the nice impression of Hamburg, we definitely won't be coming back! Not recommended!

It was OK that there was no pizza, but we couldn't really find anything on the menu that appealed to us. We then ordered tagliatelle with filet mignon, and our drinks were beer and Coke Zero. We, or rather, I, had never been served food so disparagingly (by the manager?), where the "Bon appétit" was mumbled into our beards as we walked away. The same thing happened when clearing the table: the plates were taken away, asked if we enjoyed our meal, and then left immediately without waiting for an answer. Argh.... The portion was really small for the price, but very tasty... I don't really want to complain about that. We felt very unwelcome... Maybe it was also the beer we ordered (which was almost warm; all the other tables were drinking wine). It's a shame, I really would have liked and expected more friendliness.

Because I was not from Hamburg, just a starter plate in the amount of 70€ just put down and had to pay for it was not good

A lovely restaurant with a homey atmosphere 🍽️ I had beef carpaccio for an appetizer and pasta for the main course, and both were delicious 😋 The dessert was surprisingly large, but it was so delicious I ate it all up 🤭 The prices were also reasonable, so I'm happy with it ♡

For us as a family, with or without friends, eating at Il Vagabundo has always been a wonderful experience. Of course, costs have risen everywhere, and of course we could prepare some dishes at home for less, but every now and then it's nice to be cooked for and pampered there. Anyone who wants to save money is welcome to do so and stay home, but please stop writing ridiculous and unfair reviews. Il Vagabundo also employs people with families and expenses; the tablecloths, napkins, and everything served before the meal also have to be cleaned, ironed, and prepared. Of course, this is also indirectly borne by the customer. I spare no effort to make myself look good for the experience of "eating at Il Vagabundo" and to thank the staff and kitchen staff afterward. Speaking of which, I'll reserve a table for 4-6 people right away, and I'm happy if the "complainers" stay home; then it'll be more peaceful for us.

I treated myself to a salad to go, ordering an arugula salad. The lady didn't have any fresh bread on hand, so she offered me Kristini's homemade bread, a real treat for me...and a great dip to go with it. I was allowed to wait in the restaurant...very nice atmosphere...I love it.

Celebrated my birthday here (dinner with 6 friends) and we loved it! Really great food, ambiance and friendly staff. This is one of my favourite Italian restaurants in Hamburg.

Good food, with service you can have a per.

I finally managed to eat a real Italian pasta bolognese. Before, I went to an Italian restaurant in Italy and it was the worst, but now it made me admire Italian food again.

After a concert we wanted to end the evening on a nice and enjoyable note. At around 10.30 p.m. we were assigned a table, the waitress was at the table quite quickly and took the drinks. Then we placed the order, as a greeting from the kitchen we were suggested a starter (bruscetta) to "dip", ok, it was our fault, the cost was €15.90. Then there was Penne Salsiccia Bufa, everything tasted bland when mixed together, it's a shame. Mine, on the other hand, was wonderfully tasty, calamari with wild lentils, then there were 2 glasses of wine and a water. The service wasn't attentive and we didn't have the feeling of hospitality. We left the restaurant relatively quickly with a proud €75.60 lighter. There was no farewell greeting either. We have rarely felt so unwanted as a guest, no recommendation from us.

We wanted to have dinner here, but the price was very high considering the area and the atmosphere. After we decided to just have a drink and just share an appetizer, the service lady (probably the boss) was very rude and a bit pretentious. Basically let us know that she didn't want us in the restaurant at all. Other guests who came after us received bread/olives and dip, but we were then very neglected. The food was ok, but didn't justify the price. The dish in the picture costs €17. Guys please, this is a small burrata and a few cherry tomatoes. I can cook this at home, chop a few tomatoes into small pieces and slap a hand of arugula on top. The restaurant itself was very small and tightly arranged, therefore quite loud. No recommendation from my side!

Upscale Italian cuisine, a ristorante in the classic sense.

Despite a reservation, we had to wait upon arrival and were only seated at a table after 30 minutes. After 1 1/2 hours of lack of service we left. The service was unfriendly and we felt ignored because of our younger age. I can't say anything about the food because we didn't get around to it.

Italy in Hamburg. Absolute recommendation for anyone who likes Italian flair. Tip, reserve a table, the restaurant is always full.

A very cozy restaurant with good pasta. Unfortunately, we found the atmosphere a bit hectic, and we were asked to leave immediately after our meal to make room for the next guests.

I ordered risotto and was served basmati rice with a mushroom sauce. The response to my complaint was very unfriendly. The food I ordered as a substitute was okay. There were three of us and we didn't leave a tip because we weren't satisfied overall. We were then insulted as we left the restaurant. Overall, an unpleasant visit. Never again.

Unfortunately, the employees were extremely rude and rude. We haven't experienced anything like that in a long time. It's a shame because the food was quite good. But due to the incredibly unfriendly staff, we unfortunately cannot recommend the restaurant.

Leider war der Ton und das Benehmen der Chefin mehr als unhöflich. Wir hatten uns auf einen schönen Abend gefreut, auf gutes Essen, doch so behandelt worden bin ich noch nie. Wir sind gegangen, sehr schade!

One of the really good restaurants in the west of Hamburg! Riccardo does everything great...everything is delicious and fresh.

The service was the most listless and sometimes unfriendly that I have experienced in a long time (and especially from an Italian restaurant). Only one female service worker was in a good mood and on her toes. I didn't feel very welcome. The food was rather unseasoned and boring (but expensive). The truffle pasta was the size of a child's portion. Be careful, there are hidden fees here. Bread and dip are simply set out and charged for, as is apparently the table setting. No information was found about this beforehand. The mood was quite good as a total of 3 celebrations took place in the store and outside. Except for the plastic tents, the old Corona walls (put to the side) and the outside carpet (which probably hasn't been cleaned for a long time), it's quite comfortable. Unfortunately, the waiter kept pouring more wine and water, even though we declined. He spoke no/hardly any German and scared away the mouse we showed him with a shrug, a laugh and a Polish (?) curse. It was a spontaneous visit in the evening. If I had hoped for more from this visit, there would be even fewer stars. Too bad!

We spontaneously had dinner there last night and were given a place on the terrace. It started well, the daily menu was put up straight away and the menu was handed to us, but the drinks menu was missing - it must have been 15 minutes before we received it or until someone from the service came back to our table. After we ordered drinks, the starter was brought to us and, with the plates in hand, the cutlery was “thrown” onto the table. I mean something different by beautiful setting. The white wine spritzer and red wine were very tasty, but the 2 glasses of red wine left me with a headache. Bread, dip, capers with bread first - delicious Appetizer: Pulpo salad - tasted a bit musty Pork belly - was ok Main course: Tagliatelle with salmon - seasoned a bit bland and the salmon a bit dry Dumplings with burrata - delicious Basically, we waited a very long time until we could either order something or until someone even asked about our well-being. It was probably a bit cold for some guests inside, which is why the patio door was completely closed and we sat completely separately in the outside area - felt a bit off-putting because it was simply closed without perhaps explaining it in our direction. 120€ for everything - but we don't have to have it again.

The greeting was very reserved, not to say unfriendly! When asked: Do you have a children's chair for my 2-year-old granddaughter, the answer was... Yes, a chair to hang on the table (something for babies)...well! The food was good and tasty. The service was generally unfriendly and reserved. No thanks, not again!

Nice restaurant. The food tasted very good and the service was good was good. The ambience outside was very nice even though the restaurant is on a main street. It was nice to eat, chat and enjoy the food. Definitely not my last visit.

A very good truffle pasta - probably the best in Ottensen.

In itself a beautifully decorated shop. When we entered the store we were the only customers. Nevertheless, we were served carelessly and rather unfriendly. We were really looking forward to delicious pasta. Unfortunately, the tagliolini with truffles didn't convince us. The tagliolini were overcooked and unfortunately very bland in taste. We won't come back!

This is the best worst restaurant I've ever been to. Hectic processes, inattentive service, the restaurant appears to be classy, ​​but the food is rather average and simply too expensive for that and the miserable service Small, cramped, not very comfortable. The processes seem chaotic, one waitress loudly orders everyone else around the dining room. I was there with a child and was apparently labeled as “not worth it” as soon as I walked in. I wanted a nice evening for our short vacation, but unfortunately it went wrong. There was no drinks menu, and when the child asked what kind of juice there was, the answer was annoyed. The food (we both had pasta) didn't come at the same time. Cheese wasn't served with it, but it was at the next table. The waitress also had a commanding tone towards us. The waiter or chef who appeared every now and then would rudely clear my plate while the child was still eating, bumping into me and not even apologizing. The unattentive service didn't notice for half an hour that the drink was gone and we would have liked to order something more. Result: paid and left and never came back.

We celebrated a big birthday here 😁. Everyone was amazed by the quality of the food! Authentically Italian. The people who work there are very friendly and attentive. Tip top! I'll definitely come back. Thank you!

Sehr leckeres Essen, sowohl die Vorspeisen als auch die Hauptgerichte, und ein freundlicher und zuvorkommender Service. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und kommen sehr gerne wieder.

Best spaghetti from Vongole in a long time

Quail (much too dry) on mountain lentils as an overpriced starter, completely soft cooked tagliatelle with salmon as the main course, unwilling service, a blasé head waitress. You sit in a plastic tent.

Starters were great, wine was great and the main course was also very good until I found it big. However, the whole situation suddenly changed when, halfway through the main course, I found a 3cm glass shard on my plate. I then gave the shard to the waitress and asked that the boss come forward. The waitress then went into the kitchen and at some point came back and said: “It wasn’t glass, it was just plastic.” After asking again, the boss came and was extremely unreasonable. "What should he do?" That was the question for me. Truly unbelievable. Of course it shouldn't happen, but when it does, reacting like that and making a fool of myself that it was just plastic is not possible. Of course the piece could no longer be found. I will never enter this store again.

Four of us had dinner at “Il Vagabondo” on Friday evening; but the first and the last time! Food great! Service underground! We have never been treated so rudely and unlovingly in a restaurant before (and we often go out for expensive meals). The waitress touched the rim of the glasses. ☹ She poured the water as if she wanted to flood the table.☹ We had ordered bruschetta as a shared starter. She served the three of us on one plate. She laughed at the suggestion that we were four guests. ☹ When our main courses came, she handed us the plates across the table instead of going around the table and putting each plate down in front of the guest, as she should. When three of us had already finished eating, but I hadn't finished eating yet, a second waitress came and cleared away the already empty plates. To put them on the next table. ☹ My husband ordered another drink. When she brought it to him, she didn't take the empty glass with her. At times we believed that we had involuntarily been caught in “hidden camera” and that they wanted to observe how we behaved in the face of the unprofessional service. In any case, we were completely served...

The food was absolutely average, very rude service, long waiting times and for a supposedly real Italian the bruschetta was subpar! So all in all, simply not recommended!!!

The food was very tasty. The wine list is too expensive (even compared to better restaurants in the west of Hamburg). In addition, the operation was not meaningful at all. The statement “it’s Cabernet, it says so” is quite cheeky for an 80€ wine.

The food wasn't exceptional but definitely edible. On the other hand, the "service team" was inedible and, apart from one lady, was a complete disaster. You weren't greeted properly or even received, but had to ask your way around despite having a reservation. The bad-tempered waitress, in style in a Versace hoodie :) squeezes herself without a word and straight between two tables (30cm) gap and expects the five of you to follow with a 90-year-old grandma in tow? One faux pas followed the next, so after great irritation we decided to make the best of the evening. From groans, eye rolling, aggressive clearing up to comments like "So you've already eaten" because you politely declined the large plate of starters, it was all there. The furnishings are rustic and there is cozy and beautiful light in the evenings. When you look out of the floor-to-ceiling windows you see a pile of broken tarpaulins and bulky waste. The location is actually great, why people don't keep order and expect guests to have this view is a mystery to me, as is the whole process of the visit. The search for a beautiful Italian in Ottensen continues.

Unfreudliche Bedienung. Als bekannt wurde, das wir keine Bestellung mehr haben, wurde uns die Rechnung auf den Tisch geworfen und ob wir nicht langsam mal bezahlen wollen. Rauswurf pur. Dieses Restaurant kann ich nicht empfehlen. Das Essen war wie das Personal, lieblos und die Qualität unterdurchschnittlich. Trennung der Rechnung war für das Personal eine schwierige Aufgabe, die Lügen, die uns deswegen erzählt wurden grenzte schon an Dummheit.

Yummy ! We were lucky enough to get a table at this wonderful restaurant even though we didn't have a reservation. The food is authentically Italian and the staff, who all appeared to be Italian, gave the impression of a family business. The service was attentive but not intrusive, and the ambience was cozy and extremely pleasant. Although we only had about an hour and a half as the table was reserved for later, we were kindly informed that we could stay longer as the reservation had been transferred to another table. The food was simply fantastic and they offer a variety of changing dishes. We can't wait to go back and try the other dishes. This is definitely one of the best Italians we know in Hamburg. We both enjoyed the beef tartare as a starter and pasta as a main course.

Absolutely brilliant and very high quality Italian restaurant. My partner and I were there for the first time following a recommendation and were not disappointed. Starter Bruscetta with Straciatella cheese, main course homemade ravioli with truffles. Rounded off with a delicious Pinot Grigio with the meal and a wonderful variation of chocolate with the espresso afterwards. Recommendation for romantic evenings and people who are enthusiastic about very high quality Italian food. Gladly again!

Auch wenn es die 1 Stunde! die wir auf unsere Pasta gewartet haben erträglicher gemacht hat. Sehr unruhiger, stressiger Laden, haben uns sehr unwohl gefüllt, ständig stieß jemand im vorbei gehen an unseren Tisch, alles viel zu eng, man hat das Gefühl man wird widerwillig geduldet & in eine Ecke gesetzt (trotzt Reservation). Stammkunden hingegen werden regelrecht umgarnt . Schade, die Pasta war gut, wenn auch etwas überteuert. Stammkunden werden wir nicht, obwohl wir aus Altona sind.

We finally found our favorite restaurant. Mega tasty, great wines, the table is set and small delicacies await you. Great service, water is constantly being replenished. Everyone keeps an eye on everything. Absolutely perfect service. La dolce vita as we love it. We come more often now: )

Sehr lauter und chaotischer Laden. Aggressiver und unaufmerksamer Service. Essen (Pasta) brauchte EINE Stunde. Gnocci schmeckten nach Mehl, Soße vollkommen geschmacklos. Danke- nein.

Not cosy atmosphere. They force you all the time to order something. If you dont order all the time and want to sit for a while after Dinner, they throw you out...

What can I say, quite average for Italian restaurants in Hamburg, it is difficult to find something authentic and an adequate quality/price ratio. I ate a buffalo mozzarella that had the same flavor as those in a bag from any supermarket and a plate of tagliolini in which the prawns, in small pieces, could be counted on the fingers of one hand. Italian cuisine is something completely different, but I understand that the quality offered adapts to the palate of the customers...

Sehr Aufmerksame und zuvorkommende Bedienung. Das Essen war sehr Ansprechend und wirklich lecker,besonders das Tiramisu 🤤 Nicht ganz günstig,aber hier bekommt man kulinarisch was geboten😊👍

Zentral in Altona gelegen, so hat man immer was zu gucken . Ambiente nett allerdings nichts besonderes. Essen war gut bis akzeptabel... Rinderfiletspitzen auf Salat war recht lecker und auch eine gute Portion. Fischfilet mit Trüffel auch zu empfehlen... die Pasta mit Muscheln war sehr fad und Extrawünsche wurden vergessen .

Gerne wieder! Das Essen ist super lecker und sowohl die Besitzer als auch die Angestellte sind super nett und hilfsbereit.

Parkgarage, Sonderwünsche, Kinder, take-away, romantisch zu zweit oder essen und feiern mit vielen….alles ist hier möglich und gerne umgesetzt!

Ich würde immer wieder gerne ins Il Vagabondo kommen, der Service ist top! Man wird ausführlich beraten und es wird auf seine Wünsche eingegangen. Die Karte bietet für jeden etwas. Dieses gemütlich Restaurant im schönen Ottensen hat volle 5 Sterne verdient.

Ich weiß nicht wann und wo ich mich das letzte mal so gut behandelt, so gut gesättigt und so zufrieden gefühlt habe mit einem Restaurant! Alles von Vorspeise bis zum Nachtisch einfach nur unfassbar lecker!

Super runder Abend! Angenehme Atmosphäre und super Essen. 10/10

Im Rahmen einer Geburtstagsfeier, war ich mal wieder bei diesem wirklich hervorragenden Italiener. Ein tolles und uriges Ambiente, was dem Laden einen besonderen Touch verleiht, sowie freundliche und zuvorkommende Bedienungen und hervorragende vielfältige und leckere Gerichte machen dieses Restaurant einfach einzigartig. Immer wieder gerne komme ich vorbei und werde nie enttäuscht. Natürlich muss man sich darauf einstellen, dass man an einem Freitag/Samstag Abend bei Hochbetrieb etwas länger auf sein Essen warten muss, was meiner Meinung nach aber vollkommen nachvollziehbar ist, da hier wirklich alles frisch zubereitet wird. (Durfte ich mich selber von überzeugen) Leider kann ich hier einige negative Rezessionen hier leider überhaupt nicht nachvollziehen.
