Very tasty, but steep prices. The salad was puny, I had 3 pieces of chicken and, if at all, a sliced ​​mushroom. Add some lamb's lettuce and no dressing. I think the €14.90 is way too much for that. My girlfriend had the salad with salmon. Same here. But the location is beautiful and the waiters really try to serve you quickly and make your stay as pleasant as possible.

Well, unfortunately I can't recommend one. After a long wait, someone came and then of course it took a very long time until the food came (2 pizzas) and then the wrong pizzas came... the pizza tasted good and was big but there was hardly any toppings on top. Wouldn't recommend it. Service was nice, hence the 2 stars!

If you have several hours to wait for your food and don't care about service, this is a place for you. I strongly advise against everyone else because the food is ok, but it takes forever (for us an hour for a bruschetta and a risotto). Definitely the worst Italian in all of Kassel.

Unfortunately I can only give 3 stars, which I think is a shame. This restaurant is actually one of my favorites in Kassel. But today they really "shot the bird." Our portions (€21.90 each) were so sparse that my husband ordered a bowl of potato wedges. We got one! Eighth potato for 4,50€ extra! ...and the friendliness of the staff also leaves a lot to be desired! We would think it would be a shame if this restaurant went down the drain, especially because of the beautiful inner courtyard, but if it continues like this... I can't see it!

Unfortunately, absolutely disappointing! We were already there at 6 p.m. and there were only three of us, it was absolutely not full and there were enough staff, but they didn't even notice us and it took half an hour and several calls from us to even get our drinks! Things continued just as slowly. Our meals arrived at a completely different time, so that the first one had almost finished while the last one was just starting, very small portions that didn't fill us up even as slim women, so we then ordered pizza bread and expressed our complaints honestly and politely . Still, there was no apology or anything on the house, as would be the case in any decent establishment. In general, the waitresses were neither attentive nor friendly. And way too expensive for that! Therefore there was no tip. It's a shame about the beautiful atmosphere, but unfortunately I can't recommend it anymore!

Were there for the first time. So unfortunately the welcome wasn't that warm. It can happen, but it shouldn't. We had, among other things, two pizzas. They were relatively large, but very sparsely occupied. My wife had a pasta dish and was still hungry afterwards because the portion was rather small. This restaurant was the worst Italian I have ever come across. I would have been ashamed to serve the risotto with squid tentacles I ordered like this at home. The dish was carelessly thrown together on the plate, it had nothing to do with risotto and the dish was completely bland and contained no spices, let alone Parmesan cheese. The squid was manageable with five small pieces and counted. I can't judge the dishes my companions served, but they weren't thrilled either. The shrimp with the pasta was said to have been completely dry and overcooked. The spaghetti was only served with a knife and fork and no spoon. It took a good hour for the dishes to arrive and the four dishes didn't come at the same time, I was finished and then the last dish came. All in all only intended for tourists, quick money for lousy quality, the tourists won't come back anyway. Everyone should think for themselves whether this cafeteria food with poor service is worth it. Actually a great ambience with a planned open garden, but you have the feeling of sitting in a second-class train station hall. Never again for me.

The outside area of ​​the restaurant is beautiful and that's about it. I ate the worst salad of my life there. The turkey breast strips were old and felt like they had been warmed up for the third time. A salad with exotic fruits is delicious, but not if half of it is green apple. There was no dressing at all. Salt, pepper and oil were placed on the table. Accompanied by pasta, which also doesn't deserve any positive reviews. The price-performance ratio is not right and the service is inattentive, as it is probably not an expert but only young temporary workers.

Today we went to our favorite Italian restaurant again and unfortunately found that it is still very tasty but not as good as it was 2 years ago. We found it a shame that the starter (bruscetta) only had 2 pieces on it. We expected more there for 6€ Overall still very tasty and very nice atmosphere.

We came here for dinner with four adults and two children and were very disappointed. The starter was brought promptly, but we only got the main course two hours later after asking. The order was simply forgotten and then quickly pushed aside. Furthermore, you weren't even asked if you wanted any more drinks. This was always only possible when called upon. My husband's pizza still didn't come and he canceled the order because the rest of us were almost finished. There was no apology or anything like that. The pizza we ordered was even included in the bill at the end. The service needs to be better here.

We had lunch in the restaurant today and I have to say it was a bitter disappointment. The restaurant was mediocrely busy but we were asked if we had made a reservation! We found it a bit strange. The service itself was incredibly unfriendly and grumpy - it seemed like he was reluctant to serve us - something I've never experienced before. While clearing the plates, a second employee was there and poured almost all of the parmesan on my wife's legs and he just walked away without a word or an apology! Underground and completely unacceptable. The food was okay, but about 30 minutes later I had a complete stomach ache and that shows the poor quality of the food. Unfortunately, the restaurant hides you behind its good location and the ambience, but everything else is definitely not good gastronomy and everything is missing, especially treating the guest who brings the money sensibly. For the last time and no recommendation.

Unfortunately, Il Convento disappointed us across the board. We were a group of about ten people and the quality of the food left a lot to be desired. The bolognese was dry, the tomato sauce tasted burnt and not fresh. The pasta carbonara was also a letdown – undercooked, dry and not creamy at all. The pizzas were described as “okay” by my colleagues, but they probably didn’t reach the level of a good Italian restaurant. The service was more reminiscent of a snack bar. We had to wait a long time for our food, which wouldn't have been a problem if we hadn't been given dry slices of bread without any accompaniment like butter or olive oil. This is not the standard I expect from an Italian restaurant. The staff also seemed very disorganized; It happened several times that we had to repeat our orders or requests. Overall there was a lack of competent management in the restaurant. Unfortunately, based on our experience, I cannot give a positive review for the food, particularly the bolognese and carbonara. Better management could potentially improve this a lot.

The service was now subpar, as the pastas came to the table cold, the service didn't even say a word of apology after a new(?) delivery (service desert sends its regards) and when it came to paying, the waiter wasn't able to handle the items to explain and split the bill. . Still not recommended. ______________________________________________________________ 2021: If you're not hungry and have a lot of euros to spare, this is the right place! That means: Price - performance doesn't fit here (anymore)! The main course with a few strips of rump steak on rocket for €20 is already hearty. With a main course I expect a feeling of fullness and above all there was no side dish! Everyone didn't like the tiramisu at all. Tip: maybe. taste before serving. Conclusion: no recommendation, there are far better Italian restaurants in Kassel with a good price-performance ratio!!

My friends got a fish and carbonara that were also not great. Service was not great.

Been here for the second time. Last time about 2 years ago. Slow service, boring pizza, waiters unfriendly. Very central spot in Kassel but not much traffic. No wonder. This was my last visit.

Ein wunderbarer Sommerabend im schönen Innenhof der Garnisonskriche bei Kerzenschein, gutem Essen und einem Glas Wein... wir waren voller Vorfreude... Jedoch - herbe Enttäuschung auf der ganzen Linie! Schon der Anblick des Servicetisches inmitten des Lokals machte uns stutzig... Desinfektionsflaschen mit aufliegenden feuchten Tüchern tummelten sich zwischen Flaschen mit ÖL, Gewürzmühlen und Aschenbechern... Nach Aufgabe der Bestellung kam eine von vier Vorspeisen zügig, auf die drei weiteren - Melone mit Schinken und Pizzabrot - warteten wir eine geschlagene Stunde... trotz zarter Nachfrage zwischendurch ?!? Wenigstens grummelte einem von uns vieren schon mal nicht mehr der Magen... Okay, erstmal weitere Getränke bestellt... Irgendwann trudelten dann die Melonenschiffchen ein - üppig mit Schinken belegt... jedoch viel zu dick geschnitten... kaum in kleinere Portionen teilbar ...eben den ersten Happen davon genommen wurden auch schon die Hauptspeisen aufgetragen... wohin jetzt mit allem ??? Wir hatten Nudelgerichte u. a. mit Parmesansoße bzw. im Parmesanlaib gewendet bestellt. Eine Spezialität im Lokal... Leider ging der Parmesan geschmacklich in einer schweren hellen Sahnesauce unter... Ähnlichkeit mit einer "Mehlschwitze" nicht auszuschließen... überhaupt Parmesan drin??? Dann doch lieber zurück zu den Melonenschiffchen... wie gut, dass die noch zur Auswahl standen... Irgendeine Art von Entschuldigung durch das unerfahrene und überlastete Personal - undenkbar! Pannen sind nie auzuschließen, wir sind alle nur Menschen. Der Umgang damit war aber extrem unprofessionell. Wirklich sehr schade um's Geld! Der Gast als Last! Für uns ein bleibendes und vor allem einmaliges Erlebnis, trotz des sehr schönen Ambientes.

The prices at Il Convento are reasonable for the quality of the food and the excellent service. The portions are generous and the ingredients are obviously fresh and high quality. Overall, the restaurant offers good value for money. My visit to Il Convento in Kassel was positive overall. The stylish ambience, friendly service and, above all, the outstanding quality of the food make this restaurant an excellent place for lovers of Italian cuisine. Pizza didn't taste like anything, there are much better ones in Kassel. Restaurant relatively loud. Ambiance on the terrace was very pleasant and there were lots of tables.

Cozy place. The menu in English didn't quite agree with their menu in German, but everything can be solved anyway. You go here for good food and a cozy atmosphere!

Since we only had something to drink here, I can't rate the food. The service wasn't quite up to par, the European Championship game between Turkey and Holland was playing on TV and the waiters preferred to stand in front of the machine. The ambience within the walls of the old garrison church is very appealing and well implemented.

Pizza was super tasty. Not greasy and not oversalted like other restaurants I've visited so far. Ambience with historical history was also exciting to get to know.

Food was great. The spaghetti Bolognese I ate tasted surprisingly different but really good. The bread they often serve with it is amazing. My wife's salad was also great in her eyes. There is good food for all price categories. From medium priced to high priced. For 2 meals and 1 drink each around 35 € was completely ok and reasonable.

It was crowded outside. Price performance was okay. We were there for dinner from Thuringia.

Authentic Italian food. There are five stars for the lunch menu. From Monday to Friday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. you can get super delicious pasta and very, very good pizzas for €7.50-8.50. This means you can come by more often as a student.

We ordered pasta bolognese and salad. firstly, the waiter greeted us no longer friendly and even with some kind of complaint, when we went inside they said “hello”, also with some kind of complaint. The pasta itself was not tasty, as if it had just been taken and heated up. The type of pasta itself was not chosen correctly, spaghetti like theirs is not correct, it is thick. and the pasta was tasteless and not salty. The service is as terrible as possible, if you want absolute indifference then come here.

We saw a nice place full with people, thought its a nice place to have a sit. Later i saw the reviews which were quiet negative, but we decided to give it a chance. The waiter was one of the most unfriendliest people ive encountered in gastronomie, didnt smile, didnt greet, just threw the menu and asked what we want. Later he came again to ask for the food, his face was so impatient, so bothered that he had to do anything. 1 hour later arrived our steak, we ordered medium, it arrived well done, escorted with litterally 7 fries, 6 pieces of carrots and 2 pieces of broccoli, 29 euros. We asked it to be returned back, after a small resistance by the waiter he agreed, later he brought as a medium well steak, which was still not what we wanted. Anyway we paid 60 euros for a steak, a salad and 2 aperol spritz and left and will never ever visit this place. So many unhappy faces, such a bad and expensive dishes, even the aperol spritz had more water than anything else, disgrace for a place called "italian restaurant"

Unfortunately, the service is so bad that despite the mediocre food and beautiful ambience a 1 star rating has to be given: We celebrated a friend's birthday here. Her friend had booked a surprise (champagne reception, appetizer platter, etc.) in advance using the contact form and by telephone. After the meal (taste was good, but nothing special and I expected more for the prices) it was only noticeable that something had been planned that had not been implemented. Neither champagne reception nor anything else. The error was recognized after multiple consultations and phone calls. As an apology we were offered dessert on the house. However, since we had already eaten, we declined. We then waited for more than 30 minutes for the bill, where we were told that the first round of drinks would now be on the house as an apology - a nice gesture, and that was all taken care of for us. However, according to the waiter, we had to sign a receipt for this - we refused this, pointed out to the waiter the usefulness of such receipts and that was ok. After more than a month, you call and suddenly demand the drinks bill and threaten to take further action. What kind of service is this? We won't be coming back!

For a Monday (not busy) the service was a bit slow. Certain waiters didn’t look like they wanted to work. My food was ok, but the portion of potatoes with the steak was disappointing, not to mention the vegetables. The steak was nice, which made up for it. I've actually really enjoyed going to Il Convento for years. I love the parmesan truffle pasta. Today, however, I specifically pointed out that I am not allowed to eat porcini mushrooms. The truffle pasta came with porcini mushrooms. A new pasta was then prepared for me. However, there were only 3 small pieces of truffle on it. An additional €12.50 was charged for this (in addition to the pasta). I found that very strange. Especially since I couldn't do anything about the first incorrect execution of my order. A pity.

A really nice Italian restaurant. We've been here several times. Unfortunately, the quality of the food is not always consistently good. Sometimes a dish is excellent and weeks later the same dish is of poor quality, tasteless and unacceptable. If you talk to the service about it, you will be turned away and your “complaint” will not be taken seriously.

I was there with a group of 18 people. We waited for over half an hour before anyone even took a drink order. Then it felt like another eternity until the drinks and food came. Food was very good, but the portion of noodles was much too small. Service underground, slow and then unfriendly. I've been there twice in quick succession, but the second time was the last time for me because of the poor and, above all, unfriendly service.

Very nice Italian restaurant with an authentic atmosphere in an old vault in the middle of the city center. We were surprised at how big the restaurant is, it has two areas. The tomato soup, the chosen pizza and the pasta were impeccable, very hot and very tasty. Especially the version with a very spicy “spreaded” salami sausage was something special and very good. The highlight was the delicious and very crispy base, which I had never had before. The selection of drinks at reasonable prices and the friendly service rounded off our visit. A pleasant surprise. We said, "No thanks," to which the waiter rolled his eyes and replied, "Then you don't need to go to the restaurant." We have had a very unpleasant experience, it is a demonstrative disrespect and prejudice. It probably has something to do with our age, but even if we are a few years younger, that doesn't give the waiter the right to treat us disrespectfully.
