The ambience is good, as is the service. The food was mixed: the asparagus cream soup was good, the house recommendation, tagliatelle with chanterelles, was not at all. I.e. passable without chanterelles.

We were so looking forward to a good Italian meal. Unfortunately the food wasn't good. The starter of beef carpaccio was much too warm, it is actually cut and served cold. No parmesan either. Unfortunately, pizza was also terrible. Both pizzas took a long time before they were served. And then they came cold. For the Caprese pizza, the morzarella and tomatoes were placed on the pizza ice-cold after baking. The whole dough was spongy and also cold. Never had such a bad pizza. There was no apology or compensation from the waitress...e.g. in the form of a coffee. Just like you actually do when you want the customer to come back. Maybe they don't need it anymore. Except the young female service person was very nice and at least tried to apologize! Unfortunately we cannot recommend the restaurant!

Super loud and completely overcrowded. We backed out again when the cellar placed the cutlery with fork tines, knife blades and spoon bowls in front of us. Therefore, unfortunately there is no food rating from us.

I went to this restaurant with family and friends. It was completely empty, and we thought maybe it was just because it was Sunday. But slowly, we understood why no one was there. The pizza wasn’t good at all, despite what we had heard. From the moment we arrived, the waiter was impolite. He tried to fake an Italian accent and claimed he only spoke Italian and German, not a word of English. He was cold and unfriendly the whole time. We were a group of 10 people, enjoying our evening and sharing our second bottle of wine, when suddenly, the waiter came to our table and told us very rudely that the restaurant was closing and we had to leave. No smile, no kindness—just a harsh tone. He could have said, “We’re closing soon, please take your time to finish,” and we would have understood. But instead, we felt pushed out. It was a very unpleasant experience. When I told him he was rude, he kept pretending not to understand English. How can someone working in such a touristy place not speak basic English? It was disappointing and upsetting. We left feeling unwelcome.

The location and location are great. The escalator at the entrance is super cool. The furnishings in the restaurant are well chosen. We actually had an indoor space. When we asked, we were able to move to the balcony without any problems. My meal, a lasagne, was ok. I expected more in terms of taste. Unfortunately it was hardly warm either. Salad a bit small. Prices are ok, service was good.

The ambience and the excellent location no longer help. Better go somewhere else. It's a shame about this time-honored gem. I enjoyed going there and spending my money for more than 25 years. Not even third class anymore. Now it's time to say: What a shame about this pearl. Goodbye my Damario. We won't see each other again...

We were disappointed with the quality and price of the products. However, our opinion seems not to have pleased the owner who asked Google to delete it. You have to know how to accept bad reviews!

There are no complaints about the food, the chefs do a good job, although the pizza was a bit burnt and my friends were not served cheese with their pasta. But that's more about the service. The waiter wasn't friendly. He served the guests differently. When it came to payment I asked to pay by card. He asked me how much tip I wanted to add to the amount. I replied that I wouldn't leave a tip (I wanted to leave it in cash), to which he became indignant and threw the check on the table at me. After such an incident, of course I didn't give him a tip. Would I recommend this restaurant? As for the food - yes, but the service - never. I would also like to note that another waiter served us very friendly. Please check your staff.

For me it was actually the best pizza I've eaten. BUT unfortunately the waitresses were extremely unmotivated people, it won't be that difficult to smile a little, I'm not motivated at work every day but I don't let my customers feel that. We usually love going there, but yesterday was very disappointing. Unfortunately, everyone was consistently rude... From the entrance, to the seating, to the ordering process. The waiter didn't even really listen to me and kept turning away, as if he was telling me when I was finished ordering. The food, unfortunately, wasn't good either. My fish was full of bones, and both of our meals were too cold. It wasn't until we paid that he suddenly became friendly... and the price for the disappointing "package" was unfortunately too high.

Plain and simple, a totally messed up family evening👎There were six of us in the restaurant today, the word restaurant isn't worth it. After 15 minutes we had to ask if we could order drinks. After another 15 minutes we placed an order for food. The starters came at some point and there was inedible ruccola on the salads, so they went back. After several inquiries as to where our food was, yes, we would have had a starter. After an hour and a half we left the store frustrated and hungry. Completely overwhelmed and unfriendly staff. A few months ago it was just the two of us and it was the same thing. From our point of view, the good reviews are incomprehensible and no one will see us there again. It's a shame that a nice atmosphere is destroyed like that. That's definitely not the way to treat guests. Oh and judging the food is probably out of the question 👎👎👎👎 I'll only post here if you check the box, you can all forget about that.

Very good location and great food! We've had lasagna, carbonara, seafood risotto and diabolo pizza. Lasagna and pizza were absolutely amazing! I still think about how delicious it was. Staff were nice and welcoming. Would love to visit again when I get a chance.

The waiters were unmotivated and in a bad mood and we felt that too. When we wanted to pay by card, people looked strange and reluctantly took the card machine. Spaghetti Napoli with little tomato sauce and over €10 is way too expensive. Pizza was okay, but nothing more. Ambience rather good middle-class. The restaurant can only be reached via an escalator. For us, the quality is too average and too expensive. By the way, the old prices are still on the website and are currently no longer valid.

There is better. According to the menu I have spaghetti with fresh tomatoes and basil. But I got spaghetti with 5 halves of small tomatoes that I had to look for. There was no basil at all, there was parsley instead. When asked, the answer came. The basil is just decorative and if I wanted I could have some. Why would you write something like that in the card if there isn't one on it 🤔 This way you can also save. DISAPPOINTING!!! NEVER AGAIN !!!

When we walked in we were greeted very politely and were given a table straight away. The food was OK but still good. I wasn't hungry but I got a spaghetti bolognese on the house. I said I wasn't hungry but the waiter just said, and I quote: Two meals in one, that's not possible. A team like this is rare to find these days. I ate but paid for the meal because the service was very, very warm, competent and nice. The ambience was beautifully designed. In other words: Since Mario is a very great restaurant, stay as you are.

Das Essen war vom Salat bis zur Hauptspeise nicht gut. Eine Nachspeise haben wir dann gar nicht mehr bestellt. Die Bedienung war sehr unfreundlich. Dazu kam, dass er sich selbst €5 mehr Trinkgeld gegeben hat, als ich sagte. Ich hatte leider zu viel Vertrauen und habe den Betrag nicht kontrolliert (er hat ihn absichtlich nicht gezeigt). Wir werden dort nie mehr essen gehen. Kann ich überhaupt nicht empfehlen.

Gutes Essen. Wir hatten Vitello Tonato in hausragender Qualität, Penne mit Gorgonzola und Spinat und Lasagne. Schönes Ambiente im 1.Stock eines Geschäftshauses am Bismarckplatz. Leider passte der lieblos, -gleichgültige Service dazu nicht. Gerade von italienischen Lokalen kennen wir das anders. Und das bei nur wenigen besetzten Tischen. Kloakengeruch im Eingangsbereich.

We didn't make a reservation and kindly got the last table, which unfortunately was the first one next to the door, which draws as soon as someone opens it. Waiter attentive, but candle was not lit. One meal was very tasty and one was okay.

My husband went there twice to get my baby her pink Bambi bottle back. But she couldn't find this restaurant. For me this is very strange.

The food was very good at the beginning, but after a while my brother got a really bad stomach ache (he ate pizza with tuna) and when we got home he threw up everywhere. So it wasn't worth going there, McDonald's would be better.

Innovative but still traditional Italian restaurant in a good location. The atmosphere is more like in the Godfather movie, but the pasta with gorgonzola and pear would also fit the movie. The service is smooth but note that kitchen closes at 930 the latest.

I actually wanted to eat a Pizza Tonno, when I ordered (mind you on Saturday, shortly after 1800) I was told that the tuna was out. I then ordered Vitello Tonnato and a side salad. I'll put it this way, when preparing the sauce for... . The tuna was probably already gone. Bland and majo-heavy, side salad drowned in (presumably) ready-made yogurt dressing. There's no Italian flair there. My companion's carpaccio was tough and with too much Parmesan. Sorry, the almost €50 really hurt.

Had dinner at Damario's yesterday and have eaten there several times. The food itself was delicious, but we had a hair in the starter which we then showed the waiter and then we didn't want to eat it anymore. We were told it wasn't a hair but something from the anchovy? It can happen sometimes, but I didn't think it would be nice if you wanted to sell one for Doff. It was definitely a hair - the starter, of which we had hardly eaten anything, was then charged to us and to be honest I didn't think it was appropriate. Unfortunately it was the last time we ate there.

My partner and I were there for the first time. - Pleasant and welcoming atmosphere - Service: Is top. People often came by and asked us if everything was okay. Orders also arrived at our table relatively quickly - Food: The Caprese pizza is an absolute recommendation (I generally assume that every pizza tastes “very good”). Fresh, tasty, the base is thin but not too thin, the tomato sauce is hearty and the cheese is high quality. 5/5 Da Mario ends up in my top 3 restaurants in Heidelberg where I order pizza.

Typical Italian canteen, huge portions, low quality products. Mozzarella has no taste, pasta floats in water, shrimp are halved. It's stuffy. My stomach said hello to me after dinner.

Der Betrag wird also an der Kasse gerundet und nicht mehr. Der Kellner fragte sich jedoch, ob das alles sei. Du musst es wagen! Kunden ansprechen, weil man Anspruch auf ein Trinkgeld hat oder glaubt, dass es nicht ausreicht.

I was here with my family and we received a very warm welcome. We were allowed to choose a table. The staff was attentive. The order didn't take long. In my case I ordered the porcini mushroom risotto. It tasted very good. Absolutely recommended in everything! Many thanks to the whole team!

I didnt expect to find in sich a small place,a second floor with this restaurant which has extremely warm and friendly atmosphere. The restaurant is large and the food is delicious. My friend's pasta was a rather manageable portion. My schnitzel really big. The waiters are attentive but not very welcoming. Special requests due to intolerances were taken into account. But one thing left us a little speechless. I wanted to take my leftovers with me because I don't like wasting food and at the end I saw on the bill that I was actually charged 0.50 euros for a simple alluvium tray and a thin plastic bag! I've never experienced anything like that. Instead of being happy that they don't have to throw anything away, as a guest you have to pay for a cardboard bowl. I find that outrageous and not good service.

Very nice restaurant in Art Nouveau style. I felt very comfortable there. Great Aperol Spritz. The food was also perfect - BUT: I specifically asked for it to be lactose free (had the starter plate). I would have ordered Vitello Tonnato but was told it wasn't lactose free. I can eat most cheese, but not milk or cream. The appetizer plate came and there was something in a sauce on it that seemed suspicious to me. I asked the waitress (who was very nice, by the way) what exactly it was, but she couldn't give me any precise information. Of course, since I'm highly lactose intolerant, I didn't eat it. Instead I was kindly given a discount and given extra bread. That was nice, but you should still know exactly what ingredients are in the dishes in a restaurant (actually in EVERY restaurant). Therefore only 4 stars.

Nice restaurant and fast and efficient service. I had a gnocchi dish (around €19) but it was much too salty for my taste. The pizza ingredients didn't look top quality either. However, the kitchen is open continuously until 11:00 p.m., so it’s convenient if you can’t find anything else. Be careful with armchairs and strollers: you have to go up a very tight escalator and there are also one or two steps in the restaurant so not suitable.

Food was good, service unfortunately very bad and has no interest in finding COMPROMISES when it comes to complaints. Unfortunately, if you ordered the daily menu, you didn't get any dessert or coffee as is usual with the daily menu. But I was charged for my milk coffee.

Empfiehlt sich, wenn man spontan ohne Reservierung am Nachmittag etwas essen will. Das Lokal liegt zentral in der Nähe zum Bismarckplatz. Aufgrund der Größe haben wir hier bislang immer einen Platz bekommen. Die Speisen sind gut, kein Highlight, aber man macht nichts verkehrt.

Beautiful place, food was pretty good and reasonably priced. We had a waiter (a man) who wasn't exactly friendly towards us, which ruined our experience. It was hard to ignore his bad attitude, interrupting when we speak, ignoring the needs of our 2 year old toddler. I don't recommend coming here with kids.

The location is very central, right in the center of Heidelberg, and is easy to reach by public transport. Good selection of delicious food, enough vegetarian options too. Price-performance ratio is right, preparation in a reasonable time frame, beautifully presented and tasty and the ambience is very pleasant. We were satisfied.

Last year, they offered gluten-free pasta and meat with gluten-free sauces. Now it’s just dry meat or salad. Disappointing.

I was really disappointed this evening. Pizza not like before, waitress forgot the order several times. I used to eat there very often, even with groups, but we won't be visiting Da Mario anymore. The menu has also changed for the worse compared to before. Maybe it's because the Italian owner sold the place to someone who wasn't Italian. If the food and service are no longer good, new floors and chairs are irrelevant.
