Was very tasty, always happy to go back

We went to the A.Lava restaurant for lunch in October, just the two of us. We sat outside. The menu was good. Everything seemed tidy and nice. The service was okay. The food looked good. My husband's meal had some flavor, but mine was unfortunately tasteless. The chef should have seasoned the food. I was really looking forward to the salmon pasta and was disappointed. As they say...retirement food. The value for money was okay.

Very good food, especially the steak, cooked to perfection (medium), crispy on the outside, and just as it should be on the inside. Unfortunately, it's very expensive, but acceptable considering the quality. Very good service, friendly and prompt staff. The ambiance is a bit chilly, but the color scheme is still nice. All in all, highly recommended.

I've loved going there for over 10 years. Unfortunately, the quality has declined dramatically. The last time I went, in mid-September, I even had a maggot in my unwashed salad. Unfortunately, even the very attentive waiter couldn't persuade us to return.

The service was great. Everything was very quick. The meal, with two pasta dishes, was just enough. It tasted a bit bland. How could two pasta dishes be ready in 5 minutes?! The bread was delicious.

I highly recommend this restaurant. The food is always exceptionally good, and so is the service. We've been there several times.

We were in the "shack" a while ago. We were seen, but not served. The staff kept walking past us, but there were no menus. After 20 minutes, a waiter finally came and took pity on us and gave us a menu. Then nothing happened again. When my friend went to the restroom, the highly professional staff came and asked us what we wanted. We've rarely felt so stupid. We then got up and left. I honestly can't recommend this place to ANYONE. The entire staff should be replaced.

Good food and friendly service.

We had pizza and pasta and were very satisfied. What really made the restaurant visit less enjoyable for us were the stressed and impersonal waiters. Sometimes it's your fault, but I noticed it at other tables as well. No trace of Italian charm. What a shame!

Waited 20 minutes. Got tickets. Didn't take a drink order or a food order. We left!

Finally, an authentic Italian restaurant! Okay, except for the herb butter. :-) Perfect Italian food and drinks served by friendly, attentive waiters. Who would have guessed, in Bad Zwischenahn?

There was pasta with chanterelle mushrooms. And it came with bread and herb butter. The bread was hard, the herb butter was delicious. The pasta was undercooked. The mushrooms were very good. The sauce was a bit bland. It was OK, but it's doable.

The best Italian restaurant in the area. Exceptionally delicious food and wine. Very attentive and friendly staff. You couldn't eat better!

I visit at least once a year and have never been disappointed. You have to make a reservation here, and you always get perfect service with good food and drinks.

The restaurant is expensive, and since Antonio is no longer there, discerning guests have noticed this. The finishing touch is no longer there, whether it's the service or the cuisine.

Very disappointing service – never again! We waited a full hour for our drinks after ordering. The tables next to us, who had ordered at the same time, had already finished their food – while we still hadn't received anything. They only responded after we complained, but by then we were about to leave. The only explanation was that the slip had been lost – not even an apology. I have rarely experienced such careless and unprofessional service. This was definitely our first and last time at this restaurant.

Very unfriendly staff, the knives are very blunt, and when asked, they say, "They already have the sharpest ones." All the other tables were served limoncello or espresso after the meal, but not ours 😳 When the box with the bill arrives, be careful! They assume the rest is a tip. Well... all I can say is that we won't be going there again, and we wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

We ate pizza! The crust was very hard and difficult to cut (and not just for us; the table next to us seemed just as tiring).

Quite ok, but too expensive for the quality

Average, overall nothing special. Sharp knives would have been appreciated for the pizzas. I would order the wine again without hesitation.

But in the end, I gave it 4.5, which is 5 points, even though I thought about it for a long time. The interior is a bit dated and the prices are a bit high, but the food, wine, and service are what make it a great place.

We sat outside and enjoyed a nearly delicious meal. Since I have a gastric sleeve and can't eat much, they gave us a second plate. I then got some of my wife's food. I thought that was very nice. Unfortunately, that's not the case everywhere, even though I was able to show my ID. The food was very tasty and the service was friendly.

We enjoyed a wonderful meal this evening in a beautiful setting. A delicious calzone and great tagliatelle with fresh salmon. Together with a great wine. The staff was typically Italian, which added a touch of vivacity to the atmosphere. All in all, a great restaurant with great food.

The best pizza bread ever. And all for €4.90. The penne arabiata and lasagna were also excellent. Top value for money / top service. Highly recommended!!!

A top experience at Ristorante Antonio Lava! Great service, great ambiance, and delicious food – the tortelloni alla panna e prosciutto with cream sauce and the pizza Margherita were truly delicious. Highly recommended, especially in summer when you can sit outside.

The asparagus soup was very good, but the shrimp were a disaster...rubbery! Never edible.

Oh my gosh, what's going on here? I've been going to Antonio Lava for years, and yesterday I was very surprised. A very nice lady tried to give me a table, but the head waiter interrupted in a very rude manner. We were practically dismissed. The salad was nothing like its previous quality. The lasagna was large, but cold, and the waiter seemed completely unenthusiastic. The pizza was missing mushrooms. Maybe it was the warm weather. What a shame.

Four of us on holiday on a weekday when the weather was nice and we spontaneously found a free table outside without a reservation and everything was free inside! The atmosphere inside was very nice and the seating outside was nice too! It took a while for a waiter to come to us and he seemed a bit stressed but not unfriendly! We ordered a seafood pizza with a large prawn on top which was an eye-catcher! I found the taste average but I found it good! I found it quite bland! The waiter was very reserved and taciturn until we left.

A really, really good pizza! Unfortunately, the service that day was very overwhelmed and inattentive. They didn't ask for dessert or more drinks. We then went to the nearest ice cream parlor. The atmosphere was generally good, but you have to be able to handle the noise level in the restaurant.

A disaster! Our soft drinks weren't carbonated, our salami pizza was baked, and then the salami was put on top! The bruschetta was just diced tomatoes, and we had to ask for balsamic vinegar and oil! The staff was totally unfriendly. Never again.

Very tasty large pizzas, polite, unobtrusive service, very nice atmosphere. And a top price/performance ratio. For us (holidaymakers) it is always the best restaurant in Bad Zwischenahn. But you should definitely make a reservation!

At the neighboring table in the chaotic outdoor area there were two guests who, like us, had a typical restaurant menu. The two of us ate for €149. With a main course price of €39 p.p. The guest can expect more than overwhelmed or indifferent waiters who do not follow the order of dishes and drinks or do not clear anything on the table in a timely manner. Yesterday I was thrilled once again. Beef fillet with wine sauce in a parmesan basket. Buttery tender steak with a nice crust, and very beautiful arranged. All of my family's other dishes were also very good. I live 50 km away, but I always come back to this restaurant.

We tried to eat at this restaurant this afternoon with 4 adults and a toddler. We weren't even in the restaurant when a member of staff responded with an unfriendly: Have you made a reservation? came towards us. When we said no, he just said everything was reserved. This was tantamount to being thrown out. There were still tables available outside that weren't even offered to us. I've never experienced anything like that there. It's a shame you can't give zero stars.

Unfriendly and not tasty at all (Gorgonzola pasta, 4 stagioni pizza).

We ate here for the first time today. All tables were shown as reserved, which was probably not true, because we got a table straight away, as did many other guests who had not reserved. We both ate pizza, which at 17.90 per pizza isn't exactly cheap. I noticed that all the other guests received bread with herb butter as a small greeting from the kitchen, except for the two of us. When we paid, I asked the waiter about it and was told that there is no bread at pizza because pizza is already bread. Our meal probably wasn't expensive enough to warrant a greeting from the kitchen in advance. It's a shame that such distinctions are made between guests. Such behavior doesn't exactly speak for good management of a restaurant.

Delicious pizzas with fresh ingredients and toppings. One assumes higher prices, but that's not the case. The food is very tasty and definitely worth the price. We have known the restaurant for 24 years and have never been disappointed.

A slightly finer Italian. My sea bream was cooked to perfection and they also enjoyed the others' dishes. I found the pizzas just average. And the side dishes were presented a bit carelessly without that certain something, as I would expect in a restaurant like this. Friendly service, but no questions about coffee when clearing away. So we had to wait longer for it. The cappuccino, however, was excellent. The sea bream was great again on the next visit and the service was much more attentive. Hence the upgrade.

Went there for the first time today. Great service, the team is always there for the customer. Great reception that came straight to you. The food was super tasty and the service was very fast. Absolute favorite restaurant! Eating here is very popular, but also to take away. In both cases, excellent quality of the food is guaranteed. The staff is very friendly. Since we are already regular customers, you can see that more personal conversations can be had here too. Nothing is missing here😇 Unfortunately, parking spaces are very limited and are always completely full on good days.

Unfortunately you are not welcome there with children. We asked if we could book a table for next week. The answer was no without asking when. It's a shame that something like that still exists these days

We eat at Antonio's regularly because we've enjoyed it so far. However, it would be nice to offer senior meals so that seniors are not always forced to pay the full price of a meal even though they can only eat half or a small part of the meal. Even when we ordered a corresponding dish with a smaller quantity, we were charged the full price. Improvements should definitely be made here so as not to lose guests.

We are always amazed by the delicious, authentic Italian cuisine on offer here. There was nothing to complain about during any visit. In addition to the team in the kitchen, the service, led by waiter Antonio, does a competent and friendly job. Here you can only feel comfortable.

We haven't been here for 7 years for good reasons. Today was a new opportunity. Unfortunately not much had changed. The food is ok, but not in proportion to the high prices. Unfortunately, the waiters are unfriendly, inflexible and didactic. I hardly know any locals who like to eat here.

Es ist immer wieder sehr gut. Das Brot ist ein Traum und das Essen tip top. Auch der Kellner , der schlecht bewertet wurde , ist ein freundlicher Mensch und schon seit Jahren dort. Einziger Punkt sind die Servietten. Früher kunstvoll dekoriert aus Stoff nun aus Papier.

Our favorite Italian in Bad Zwischenahn. Super tasty food, also with a large selection of vegetarian options. The service is wonderful and the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. We like to come by regularly for a nice meal with a great atmosphere. Great recommendation!

There were plates there for a greeting from the kitchen. But only those guests who ordered expensive dishes got it. After eating our starter we finally asked for some bread. We then got 3 slices of baguette for 2 people. At the next table there was pizza bread in advance. The employees seemed very arrogant. The skin dish was really tasty.

Wenn ich kurz in BZ bin gehe ich eigentlich auf jeden Fall in dieses Restaurant. Das Essen und die Bedienung sind immer ok. Diesmal habe ich mit 8 Personen meinen Geburtstag dort gefeiert. Es war perfekt! Das Essen war köstlich, die Bedienung flott und aufmerksam. Die Gerichte kamen zusammen. Der Preis war der Qualität der Speisen absolut angemessen. Danke für einen sehr gelungenen Geburtstagsabend! 2 Tage später war ich mit 2 Familienmitgliedern noch einmal dort und habe wieder sehr gut gegessen. Da ich sowieso am liebsten italienisch esse - immer wieder meine 1. Wahl!

Unfortunately, despite having booked in advance and being a disabled person, we were given a seat in the far corner next to a dog table - fortunately, after long discussions, we were able to move!

Unfortunately not as I imagined. The pizza sounded good. Pizza Agrumi for €17.90 with smoked salmon, orange slices, green salad and parmesan slices... sounds good... but the orange came with the peel, which made the pizza bitter. Unfortunately I didn't find any parmesan slices and the pizza was very dry, so I didn't need a dressing like this. Honey/dill would have been nice, the bit of cream cheese in the middle didn't help, or maybe an Italian version of a sauce. My companions were missing the rosemary potatoes when they asked, but they were given fried potatoes, which unfortunately had nothing to do with the order. The staff was friendly and unfortunately apparently overwhelmed and even unfriendly. When I visit an Italian restaurant in this price range I expect hospitable perfection and delicious food but unfortunately I was very disappointed with my meal. Unfortunately, the same thing happened to my companions. Unfortunately very disappointing. The owner has died and the family is probably grieving but the quality should still be kept high. We definitely won't be coming back.

Ich hatte eine Pizza mit Salat, Räucherlachs und Orangenscheiben, nie wieder! Es war nur wenig Soße auf der Pizza, die Orange kam mit Schale auf die Pizza was sie einfach nur bitter machte. Der Lachs war gut aber Pizza mit Salat war, sehr Gewöhnungsbedürftig. Obwohl es sich in der Theorie sehr gut anhörte. Man hätte auch gerne zu Gewürzen greifen können um eine schmackhafte Pizza zu kreieren, leider hat man darauf verzichtet. Üppig belegt war die Pizza auch mit Lachs aber der Preis mit knapp 18€ war auch sehr üppig und für mein Geschmack zu üppig. Zudem war das Personal leider nur bedingt freundlich was vielleicht der Tatsache geschuldet ist das der Besitzer verstorben ist. Ich wünsche dem Restaurant alles Gute und den Erben spreche ich mein Beileid aus aber bitte haltet das Erbe in Ehren und macht eurem Vater und Chef Ehre.

It was a very nice restaurant, friendly staff who always asked if everything was OK. Our food was very tasty and plentiful. We found the price and performance justified. The only negative point is that the toilets can only be reached via a staircase downstairs. The toilet bowls are also very deep, making it very difficult for disabled people. Especially since there are no handles to help you get up. The operators should do that think about whether this could be changed.

Visited Ristorante Antonio Lava for the first time. Nice atmosphere, very tasty food, very friendly service. Dogs were allowed in the restaurant! We really liked it! (We had bruschetta as a starter, veal leather and tagliatelle with black truffle as a main course, at the end an espresso and in between Aperol spritz, red wine, Cola Zero, Campari) Buon appetite!

Unfortunately, we couldn't enjoy the food because we left the restaurant after negative behavior and hidden requests to leave. “If it took you so long to get the tickets, you might want to consider how long it will take for the food to arrive.” Meanwhile, the restaurant wasn't actually very busy.

Dear Lava team and dear future guests, We have been coming to this restaurant regularly for years and are thrilled every time. We love the delicious pizza, whether with seafood or the classic with salami. Always filling and delicious. The variety of the exquisite wine list leaves nothing to be desired. We always enjoy our favorite wine in beautiful glasses and perfectly chilled. Our absolute favorites are the Fritto Misto, Bruschetta, Pizza Pane, Pizza Frutti di Mare, Gamberoni alla griglia with Spaghetti Aglio Olio, and because it's so divine, Panna Cotta with fruit to finish. But you should always take time to look at the daily menu with special fish and meat variations. The pappardelle with truffle spreads its scent throughout the restaurant. My favorite at the moment is: * Pulpo Carpaccio on a fennel salad with pine nuts and lemon oil.* It can go on like this forever with enjoyment and comfort. We are always greeted warmly and sent off with a limoncello or espresso on the house. Unfortunately, we can't understand the not so friendly reviews. Sometimes you have to smile a little when you read how guests felt and we noticed the scenario from the next table. The reporting is always very one-sided. We are all just human and everyone is allowed to make mistakes. We recommend this restaurant with a 10/10! If you have a little patience, understanding and mindfulness, you are sure to have an unforgettable culinary evening.

We were there with two children and my parents. The restaurant half empty. We politely asked for a table. The waiter rudely dismissed my father with a very derogatory gesture and told him we should leave. He hasn't even spoken yet. The children were calm and everyone involved was well dressed. Incredible! I've never experienced anything like that. Don't go there with children. Couples and a much older audience seem to be there just to be desired. Very bad impression. I worked for a very well-known company in Bad Zwischenahn for a long time, but I have never experienced such impudence here or anywhere else.

Very nice restaurant from the outside and inside! Since there was of course a lot going on, waiting time wasn't a problem. The starter (capriccio & bread with herb butter) was also delicious but especially the beef capriccio was great! And our main course was a steak with a side dish and a calzone for my wife. We were really excited

After I had the culinary experience of the third kind a long time ago... (risotto with porcini mushrooms that turned out to be dry long-grain rice) I was happy to forego further culinary experiences. A few days ago, after we happened to meet friends (regulars) in passing on the terrace and sat down, we were thrilled by the pasta with chanterelles. The service was also OK. For this reason we went there again a few days ago and hoped to repeat the positive experience. With 50% occupancy in the restaurant and the terrace, it took 30 minutes until we were able to deliver the menus and take the order. There was then bread and herb butter. What was probably herb butter at some point appeared to be yellow in color, rancid, inedible and semi-liquid. The only people who would have been happy about it would have been the people from the health department... My request to free us from this sight was then met with visible incomprehension. The head waiter then delivered a replacement, but without any word or apology. The herb butter that was then delivered was visually OK, but a taste test was not possible because it was frozen rock hard. The beef fillet of the carpaccio was well "hidden" under plenty of rocket and parmesan and was not able to leave a certain taste on the palate... The tagliatelle with black truffles was decently cooked. Unfortunately, I couldn't understand why they were tossed in a neutral sauce. The black shaved truffles were without ANY aroma and without ANY taste!!! Very obviously cheap Chinese truffles (Tuber Indicum). I then let about 1/3 go back. I very consciously answered the waiter's question about whether it was tasty with "no comment" in order not to attract attention in the interest of the restaurant. However, the question was specifically asked three times and my assessment of this dish was therefore clearly audible... I would define the service, with the express exception of the nice Italian lady, as inappropriate for a restaurant in this price range combined with a certain arrogance. Obviously you have to work your way up to becoming a regular... It's also "nice" to realize that you're being systematically cheated when ordering wine!!! The order of 0.25l wine (as stated on the menu) comes in a 0.20l glass poured exactly up to the calibration mark!!! Never again. Finally, a request to Ms. Lava: Please spare us and all readers your comments/instructions, which would only further reinforce our negative impression.

The Ristorante Antonio Lava has style. This is certainly also due to the fact that the eponymous patron set the bar very high for his employees throughout his life. Result: The service does a perfect job. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what good service is. The cuisine is beyond reproach (exception: tomato salad, sorry). The ambience suggests significantly higher prices. But the prices are really moderate. I could eat here every evening.
