Ristorante Amalfi in Meißen

Yesterday, I sat with my husband, drank two cocktails, and paid €50, and they only gave us €5 back. We also got a €3 tip. We asked about it the next day... My husband is inexperienced and wasn't paying attention, as he arrived yesterday from vacation in Ukraine. We hope they'll give us our money back and remember us. I've lived in Meissen for three years and always go to this restaurant. But this situation is extremely unpleasant. I'm an honest person. Either they forgot, or it's intentional. I'm waiting for a response!

A nice place for those who aren't hungry and are willing to wait over 45 minutes for pizza and lasagna. Here you go. When I asked for it, I was rudely dismissed. I paid €6.90 for a water and left. A shame.

The waiter ruined the whole experience by bringing the wrong order (because the previous correct one fell to the floor) and started a terrible gaslighting. Normally we would have called the manager but it seemed that the gentleman who was nasty to us was the shift manager. I do not recommend! Maybe the same thing will not happen to you. But this must not be tolerated

Wonderful and highly recommended

The ambiance inside is very nice. There were only three people serving, which was simply too few, and so ordering and billing took a long time. The food came quickly; I had aglio e olio, which was the worst I can remember. Aside from the well-cooked pasta, it was nothing. The garlic seemed pickled, not fried, the chilies weren't spicy at all, and neither salt nor herbs were used; it was just plain pasta with nothing. It's a shame how someone can ruin such a simple dish.

We were on vacation in my hometown and went to eat here. Unfortunately, we had a server who somehow went awry. Our order got lost, and we waited two hours for our food, thirsty. The food also no longer lived up to its former quality and what Amalfi stands for – authentic Italian cuisine. Luckily, there was one older waiter who, despite the tables being full, was very attentive and even stopped for a chat to appease the hungry. It's a real shame, really.

We stopped here and were delighted by the ambiance; the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The pizzas were exceptionally delicious. Highly recommended. Thank you. We'd be happy to come back anytime.

We (five people) ate here three evenings during our vacation in Meissen. It was excellent. The food completely won us over. The service was excellent. All in all, we were very satisfied.

The quality and taste of the food were mediocre. The truffle pasta had no truffle flavor and was bland at best. The pizzas were no better than the €5 pizzas you can buy on the street. As if that weren't enough, the waiter complained to our group about his tip. Completely unprofessional and childish.

Disappointing. We had two pasta dishes. Both were far too bland, the pasta still hard. As an Italian, you should really know how to prepare pasta. The friendliness also left a lot to be desired. Meissen has many more Italian restaurants that also make an effort and where the food tastes really good.

Aside from the delicious main course (4 stars for that), we must have caught the waiter off guard. We ordered bruschetta as an appetizer. Upon first glance and bite, we noticed that there was no garlic or onions, even though it was stated on the menu. And the bread was toasted too long. When we asked the waiter, the only response was a snarky one... "It's all there, and onions don't belong on bruschetta!" Not a hint of an apology or even an offer to at least give us some garlic oil. Sad, such "service" 🤔

I can highly recommend the Italian restaurant, it's worth a visit!

As a group, we reserved a table outside. It was very cozy under large trees. The staff was very friendly and quick. The food could have been more seasoned. Most of us added more seasoning. The carpaccio and the salad were served without bread, but upon request, they provided some really delicious bread.

Unfortunately, it's not what it used to be. The ambiance is nice, but you can get much better food in Meißen. The lasagna is absolutely not recommended; it's not freshly prepared but reheated, as it was still cold in the middle. The size of the dishes also leaves a lot to be desired—unfortunately, not recommended at all.

We were there on vacation. The outdoor seating was nice. Since we smoke, we asked for an ashtray. After asking three times, one was brought to us. The carbonara had bacon cubes, not ham, and it was very dry. The waiter only brought the bill after we asked several times. All in all, it wasn't great. I also personally don't like having four waiters standing in the doorway watching you eat.

The food was good, but the cocktails were disastrous!! We ordered a Hugo and a non-alcoholic Hugo. Both drinks had nothing to do with Hugo. Instead of mint, which is part of every Hugo, there was a basil leaf in the glass, and instead of lime, a slice of lemon. When I asked the waitress about it, she said they didn't get limes and mint in their delivery on Monday. But it was already Tuesday, and they could have gotten some at a supermarket!! A very cheap excuse, and a disgrace not to mention when ordering that they couldn't make the Hugo according to the recipe.

Service was fast and efficient at the beginning. The Staff was friendly. Starters of soups were also tasty. However, the main courses were extremely disappointing. They lacked flavour and even the chicken had no seasoning. One of us ordered the asparagus chicken Risotto and it tasted like microwave rice with no flavour. Additionally, the Carbonara curdled and also had little flavour.

With its great outdoor ambiance, Amali lured us in for a couple of drinks. The place is always busy, so reservations are recommended. We were lucky and got a table for two. The service was very friendly and prompt. The waiter brought me a new wine when I told him I didn't like the other one. The prices are on the higher side. After all, you should treat yourself every now and then. We thought it was great. We'd be happy to come back and say thank you.

The pizza was way too greasy. The fat was dripping down... the white wine wasn't great either... it tasted like a simple discount wine... a friend had lasagna... the price for the small portion was too high... unfortunately, we wouldn't recommend this Italian restaurant...

The food came very quickly, but unfortunately the portions were very, very small for the impressive prices and had hardly any taste. After the main course was cleared, we had to wait over an hour before we were allowed to place a new order. The poor service could also be due to the fact that we were two young women. An older man next to us received his own detailed recommendations of the house as soon as he came in. We each paid €40 (1 drink, 1 main course and a dessert) and unfortunately we were both still hungry...

The ambience is well-kept and stylish, the service is very friendly and helpful as well as attentive, the pizza and drinks are delicious as are the desserts and grappa, and the price/performance ratio is great.

The food was super tasty. There were specially smaller dishes for children. The staff is very friendly. The toilets can be reached via a staircase in the basement.

Das Restaurant ist schön. Die Kellner sind zwar freundlich, wirken aber immer irgendwie gestresst. Die anderen hatten sehr gutes Essen. Mein Risotto war die Katastrophe. Das kann der Koch leider gar nicht. Es war gebrühter Reis. Ganz fürchterlich.

The unfriendly restaurant in Saxony! Definite liars! We - 2 adults and 2 children - are there on December 31st. Got in spontaneously around 1 p.m., only 2 tables occupied (out of about 20). Then, after much deliberation, the waiter said: everything is reserved! Three quarters of an hour later there are still only 2 tables (others) occupied, another half hour there are still only 2 occupied! That's what we call rude and unfriendly...Ugh! Unfortunately we can't rate the food because the waiters didn't seem to like us!!!! Ps. By the way, we didn't like him either!

On a Friday evening in a good mood and of course hungry, I returned to Amalfi for the first time in 16 years with skeptical expectations, but it turned out to be true! At that time there were four of us around 8:45 p.m. where there was only leftover lasagne for everyone and the staff was also very unfriendly. Unfortunately, three of us and a miniature dachshund reserved a table today. The food was very tasty. After we asked for the invoice we mentioned that we had a voucher from 2022 worth €20, this was checked and rejected after some time. Apparently this was issued by the previous operator and could not be accepted. We were shocked and accepted it at first. The waiter left the table and only after 15 minutes he came with the bill and asked if everything was OK. I told him again that something like that was inherently unacceptable. He offered us a free drink, which we refused in frustration. Our dog didn't get a bowl of water! Even the Berlin Pilsner in the Schultheiss glass gives me something to think about. Meißen has a lot of restaurants, of which this one is no longer our choice!!!

Please do not bring dogs. Not even outside. It doesn't work at all. I completely understand if the owner doesn't want dogs IN the interior. We always ask beforehand whether that's OK. But we were chased away from the outside area of ​​the pizzaria with our Bolonka, who was sitting on a plastic chair on a blanket we had brought with us. The cathedral cellar a few houses away was very happy.

Das Restaurant ist optimal gelegen und schick eingerichtet. Service passt. Aber die Qualität der Speisen ist Jahr für Jahr immer schlechter geworden. Z. B. War das Ciabatta und die Pizza nicht durchgebacken. Schade! wir gehen nicht mehr hin.

Pleasant Italian restaurant with delicious pizza and lasagne

lunch... 3 tables, 6 guests, 1 waiter... 10 minutes at 35 degrees in the shade until you are asked what you would like to drink... Berlin pilsner in a Schultheiss glass... ok... spaghetti aglio e olio were hard and before aldente...salami pizza was ok...what was right was the speed 4 minutes then the food was there...45 € for a few hard noodles and a pizza + drinks, always works for lunch....

Because we took the photo to ask about ordering, but one of the dishes that came out was different from the photo. We asked the waiter, but unexpectedly the boss came over and told us excitedly that the photo was from a few years ago and the meal was different. Boss And asked my husband where I came from? Even saying my husband is not German, but I think where I am from has anything to do with the food? And my husband is also German. The boss gave us the feeling that he was discriminating against the guests. But it is undeniable that the food is really delicious and fresh, so I give five stars to the food, but I cannot compliment the boss's attitude.

So far I have been to Amalfi twice. The first time, both the operation and the service were top. The restaurant is very nice inside, but the outside area in Meissen's old town doesn't leave much to be desired on warm days. However, last Thursday I was very disappointed with the service. The gentleman seemed listless and did not speak clearly. When paying, he tried to overcharge us (intentionally or not, who knows?) and didn't even apologize for it. Nevertheless, there are 4 stars because this is really the only point of criticism.

So the service was very bad and when you pay you don't ask whether you want to pay separately or together. We waited a good 20 minutes for the bill. There are only soft drinks at 0.33 for 4.10, which I think is a disgrace, the pizza was OK, lasagne was a very small portion for the money, warm on the outside and the core was cold, the Panne Cotta was rubbery. We went to dinner with our children. The service is friendly. Children's food is good. Our children liked it. Pasta with tomato and ham and pasta with cheese sauce. The shrimp salad was not that good. Something was missing. The price was not fair to me. Some lettuce leaves were not as fresh. The pasta was good although it wasn't something that was different or magnificent. Normal.

Wir hatten Bruchetta als Vorspeise und Spaghetti als Hauptgericht . Beides sehr lecker . Wir saßen draußen unter dem großen Baum gegenüber vom Lokal - sehr schön . Aber auch innen ist das Restaurant sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Toiletten sind sehr cool im Gewölbekeller- vorbei am Weinkeller - sehr interessant gemacht .

All in all a good Italian restaurant. The service was first class, the ambience was nice for Meissen, and it also looked airy inside. The food was like an Italian restaurant, nice, but: the pizzas were soaked in fat from the cheese, so the middle was just mush. Huge pizzas, of course, but incredibly greasy. I wasn't familiar with the "homemade lemonade" with pureed fruit, but it worked. Priced at the top of the quay wall, you take advantage of the tourist location.
