Rheinlust in Bonn

I found it very pleasant here. Sitting by the Rhine, eating a good meal and enjoying a cold beer. This is a great place to end your Easter walk along the Rhine. Apparently I'm not the only one who feels this way, because the restaurant is very well attended.

As new residents of Bonn, we have been trying out a new restaurant every week for lunch for a few months now. The Rheinlust has a great location, wonderfully sunny and with a great view of the Rhine. Apparently the owner sees no need to turn his temporary wooden hut into a proper building. Even when it comes to eating, you have to be content with decent home cooking. We couldn't find any culinary surprises on the menu. But the food was good quality and the beer was very good. Thanks to the very committed and nice staff. The price level is rather at the upper end. What's really starting to annoy me is that even for sales above 40 euros, only cash payment is accepted. I think this is no longer acceptable and this taste is always left behind. Therefore only 3 stars.

The view was beautiful but the staff were not at all professional, in fact, to be honest, the girl who served us was very rude. We waited for almost an hour for a very simple Pfannekuchen and requested it twice more which then never arrived. The first time she responded badly saying that the dessert will arrive but now she just wanted to know if I wanted anything else while the second time she wanted to be paid and I told her that I wouldn't pay for the dessert (it never arrived) instead of apologizing she allowed herself to speak with such rudeness saying that it's not just us but they have to serve other people (I repeat a wait of almost an hour for a dessert). One star is too much but to be able to write a review I have to give it.

Very nice location, but unfortunately the service is a bit overwhelmed. She wanted to let us know that it was normal to have to wait about an hour for a simple pancake because she was so stressed...

Ambience is good. Food is cheap but below average.

...that you have to wait a bit longer here - no problem. They informed us that the food would take about an hour - fair. But that you sit for 45 minutes in front of empty glasses until the next order is taken, and then the food arrives so fragmented that the first person is already finished... BTW: the burger was completely dry. Unfortunately, I've experienced better at Rheinlust.

It's more for young people enjoying the evening in the beer garden on the Rhine. The interior is worn, and the food was not only served in stages, but it could have been better. There were four of us, and everyone got their food after two minutes.

It's time to finally improve something here! It's a great location right on the Rhine at the Kennedy Bridge, on the sunny side of Bonn. But the young, inexperienced employees who are supposed to be waiting tables here have no idea. Regardless of whether you want to eat here with two, four or six people, the food always comes at random and never at the same time. Calculation is wrong. Response time too slow. What a shame actually!

I've never seen such a dirty restroom. Even after three hours, it wasn't cleaned.

Cash only. Do you really need to evade taxes and save 1% payment provider fees if you charge €5.80 for a mint tea and soon only pay 7% VAT? The ambience and food are great, but if I am sent to the savings bank and have to pay €5 processing fees just because the owner is too stingy for good service, that is unfortunately reason enough not to come back. Too bad

Heute war estwas Chaos. Da es anfing zu regnen sind sehr viele Leute von der Terrasse nach innen gewechselt. Dadurch passte dir Buchführung im elektronischen System nicht mehr, das bedeutete doch einiges an Wartezeit auf essen und Getränke. Daf Essen war aber so gut wie gewohnt.

Rheinlust is an institution in Beuel. But if you go here, you have to be capable of suffering... The food is average, the Kölsch somehow doesn't taste good, the service is tried hard, but extremely chaotic at times. Today we simply weren't served. We drew attention to ourselves several times, but were punished with disregard. After about 30 minutes we left and ate somewhere else. Poor coordination somehow has a tradition there. Rarely do everyone at the table get their food at the same time. Sometimes it works, but often you need a lot of patience. Also: There is a restaurateur here who, in 2025, expects his customers to drive to the bank to get cash before visiting his restaurant. They have steadfastly refused to offer card payments for years... The only plus point: probably the most beautiful beer garden in Bonn with a unique view of the Rhine. That seems to be enough to cover up an overall very poor gastronomic performance.

You can have a drink by the Rhine here, but otherwise... nothing was really convincing in terms of cuisine. The crowning glory was the Alsatian-style tarte flambée on pizza dough with boiled ham. The service was a bit inattentive, even though there wasn't much going on. Too bad!

We were disappointed with our visit to Rheinlust. We had ordered a peppermint tea for just under 5 euros, which was brewed with only warm (but obviously not boiling) water and was brought carelessly (without honey or anything similar) in a large glass jug. After asking, we finally received a bottle of honey from the kitchen at the bar to sweeten the tea. When I politely explained to the waitress after paying that the tea wasn't that tasty, she told me with a smug smile that it was just peppermint leaves and hot water and she didn't know what was wrong with it. When I replied that that was how I felt, they only responded with an 'everything's fine', but no regrets were expressed. Overall, a disappointing visit and my first review on Google.de, as I was actually annoyed that as a customer I felt like I had to justify myself. Never again.

Very bad service, we had to wait a long time for our food. Even after asking again. Then both dishes came at different times. A concession was refused. The toilets were very dirty and the kitchen was also chaotic. I saw the chef putting the fries on a plate with his bare hands. I won't eat there anymore. The only positive, the staff is very friendly and the view is nice.

I've known Rheinlust for 30 years and haven't been there for a long time. The food was okay, nothing more. That was better. Unfortunately the guest room is very dusty. There are thick cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and the cables from the lamps are thickly covered in dust. The horror was the toilet. I've never seen anything so dirty. The doors are totally broken down. The mirrors were completely dusty and dirty and everything needed to be wiped down anyway. It's a shame, but not again. The location is really great. Cash only - really sad!

Extensive and varied menu, large portions, delicious preparation. The service is okay, the waiting times for the food are generally absolutely fine. More than harmonious, harmonious price-performance ratio.

The food is mediocre, the service is skimped on - too few staff, therefore long waiting times. The only nice thing is the location, one star deducted because the toilets were quite disgusting several times and even some of the employees didn't wash their hands. Only cash payment has been possible for years... 😉 If you can live with the restrictions, you can have a good time here when the weather is nice. But the owner could definitely reinvest - the beer benches, for example, are already pretty splintery

The service was attentive but responded unprofessionally to complaints. The tarte flambée was swimming in honey. No soap in the toilet, the hand hairdryer was broken and no paper to dry off with. It's simple things.........that make the difference.

Very nice atmosphere. Delicious food and good service. I liked everything, I can recommend it to everyone. The only thing that really surprised me was why don't they accept card payment? But in everything else it is perfect. Thank you very much, we will definitely come back.

Warm welcome, nice decoration, very good steak and salad. Nicer on the inside than the outside and very attentive service in front of and behind the counter.

As you can see from the reviews, opinions differ. Either you love Rheinlust or you don’t…. I belong to the first category. I have enjoyed being a guest for at least 30 years and can only praise the friendly and attentive service. The Rheinlust offers simple and honest cuisine. The selection is very large. I would particularly like to highlight the lasagna. I will never forget the Sunday brunch buffet, which unfortunately did not survive the Corona period. The ambience is rustic and a little special, the view is sensational. A clear recommendation for me, and not just in summer.

I don't know how you can come here and then give one star because the food is not on a restaurant level. The Rheinlust is not a classic restaurant but rather combines a good atmosphere with fair prices. I was there again today with my family. I can't say much about the food because I don't eat there. The drinks and service are outstanding. Thank you

Ordered a beer and a white mulled wine. At the next table a guest had a glass filled to the brim with red mulled wine. I asked the young waitress whether there were any differences in the mulled wine because our glass of white mulled wine was much less filled than the red mulled wine from the next table. The waitress said, no, the mulled wine glasses are always filled the same way, so I asked if she could feel another sip in our mulled wine glass, so that we would have a glass of mulled wine that was as full as the one at the neighboring table. The young waitress then says that it doesn't work and she doesn't refill the glass either. I always thought the guest was king, but that wasn't the case in this case. The young waitress's statement was a very stroppy response and generally very unfriendly. Unfortunately I cannot recommend the Rheinlust restaurant.

Surprise, there are still times in cash registers - tax office etc. Locals that don't take cards - drive away with a deposit to get money - 12/2024 in Bonn - oops 1 star for that -

"Mondi" beer is not an alternative to a Kölsch and tastes like water. Even the non-alcoholic wheat is a disaster in terms of taste. Bar staff do not greet arriving guests. There's still room for improvement ↗️

We came to drink beer in the evening, it was nice and we drank mulled wine, it was nice.

It's very great there. The service was great and quick too. The food was also great and very tasty. The waiting time for the food was perfectly fine, About 20 minutes.

We were there in a larger group and had reserved a separate frame. The ambience was really cozy and relaxed. Big plus: The restaurant is easily accessible both by public transport and by car (you can park less than 150m away in the parking garage at Brückenforum). The food was quite good, nothing earth-shattering, but tasty and reasonably priced. There are definitely deductions for the service, which was neither friendly nor attentive and was sometimes very annoyed and rude. I would almost say that the young man used his tone wrong several times. His colleague was a little friendlier. We were allowed to pick up the drinks at the door to the room. We had to order at the counter because no one came for ages. That diminished the overall impression somewhat.

Location, location... Beautifully located on the Rhine. Service often slow. Some places outside are very tight. Prices ok. for the location, quality varies. Unfortunately, the service experience was sometimes subpar, so only one star.

The toilets smell very unpleasant. Glasses vary in their fullness (Aperol). And the best thing: no card payment!

Apparently the Rhine lust has recovered again. Staff had become friendlier, food ordered came to the table together and not in stages before. I hope it stays that way and we can eat here more often again.

Not recommended. The pork fillet pan in cream sauce was served in a soup bowl with tough pork goulash in a watery liquid. And I had to wait an hour for that. Never again! The service staff, obviously all students, were very friendly. The only positive thing about our visit there.

Very unpleasant experience, the steak was supposed to be done and the sauce separately, none of it was implemented, when we pointed it out, the answer was “next time” - sorry guys, but really unprofessional and far from customer satisfaction.

I've always wanted to go here, it's too crowded for me in the summer, today October 17th. It was empty.. I was here and unfortunately it was the last time to eat. Why? 1. No card payment and you only find out when you want to pay. This is a NO GO!!!! and yes, as others have written.. one can only hope that the tax offices check such places closely.. 2. Waiting time... my pizza took 40 minutes, it was good but only that. 3. The chai latte was bad.. 4. Toilets are a rather disgusting affair and, like the whole store, they need a renovation. In short, the shop lives from the view... rightly so, I wouldn't spend any money on food, you can't go wrong with drinks. And there is nothing more to write...

Jacket potatoes with herb quark: kept very simple. But otherwise friendly service, even if you had to call more often. But that seems to be a fundamental problem in the catering industry, that waitresses often don't let their eyes wander. It was a lovely evening with old school friends.

Only cash. They are very slow in taking orders and we waited for an hour for the food. One waitress in particular was not very friendly, almost rude. The quality of the food is definitely not worth it.

I can recommend the Margherita Pizza. I really liked it. Service was nice and requests were taken into account :) And of course the view is great.

We ordered waffles and coffee, the coffee came quickly, we waited 30 minutes for the waffles and at the end we were told that the waffles would only be prepared now.

Definitely recommended. Good price/performance ratio. Gladly again.....

The view is very nice, but unfortunately that was it. The schnitzel was ok, the fries were very little and barely salted, fried far too short and a disgrace for the price. Our group first forgot a drink and then we were each given a glass twice that still had dishwater in it. Afterwards, another meal was forgotten, so one of our group had to eat long after everyone else had finished. In addition, you cannot pay by card, which is already very worrying for 2024. If this restaurant were in a less beautiful location, it would certainly have been closed long ago.

Nice place, nice beer garden. But unfortunately the organization, service and kitchen is a disaster. Order came late, was taken incorrectly, both meals were lukewarm and service didn't take good care of the guests. I noticed at neighboring tables that there was also dissatisfaction there. It's a real shame, it could be nice, but definitely not worth a second visit and not recommended to anyone. No card payment possible! You probably already know why.

No service at all. We just left after waiting too long. Otherwise it's a nice place.

The atmosphere was pleasant. Although the food was served late, it was hot and delicious. The beer, on the other hand, was cold and tasty. I'm not sure if it was a service issue or just a delay, but overall, I recommend this place. It's a great spot to meet up with friends or family and watch the sunset.

In summer you can sit very nicely in this restaurant. You have a good view of the Rhine and what is happening on the promenade. The food was good and the service was very friendly. You can go here!

The location of the Rheinlust is great. However, everything is very close together so that there is space for as many people as possible. The menu is quite old-fashioned and very manageable when it comes to vegan dishes. Food is ok. Dogs are welcome and receive water and cuddles from staff. The waitresses are very friendly. It's great for a quick stop for a beer. I would eat somewhere else :)

The restaurant right on the Rhine is simply beautiful.. the service has always been super friendly, I have to praise that, but if you want to eat here you are only on the safe side with the tarte flambée or snacks such as nuggets or calamari.. I'm very angry because I really feel sick after today.. I ate chicken that wasn't fried, but baked. I was a cook myself and can therefore judge it well.. it was just like it came from the refrigerator shelf in the package and then sweet and sour poured over it. I haven't eaten as badly as I did today and I've never had such a stomach ache after going to a restaurant!!! It's a shame to sell something like that, even if it looked good at first. It was dry, ready-made chicken and unfortunately it was the third time that I had hair in my food from the cook. Of course, the really lovely waitress immediately passed it on to the kitchen and I didn't want to say anything at first. It's nice how professionally she responded to it, big praise again. Since I know how stressful it is in the kitchen and gastronomy, I want to close my eyes for the last time, but I would wholeheartedly recommend the kitchen! Please wear chef's hats and dare to season it. The bulgur was simply poured with water and cucumbers and peppers were roughly chopped. To the guests...this shop is recommended for a nice evening if you stay away from the overly demanding dishes and concentrate on the wine, cocktail or snack menu. And because of the nausea, I really hope for your sake that you stick to the HACCP, because someone else could have reacted more strictly here, a friend also let the schnitzel go back last time... maybe you should really focus on simpler things concentrate like pizza, tarte flambée... finger food and drinks, you can't go wrong. Everything except the food is a great place to have a beer in the evening..

The best thing about the store is the location with a view of the Rhine. We waited a whole hour for the food only for it to end up not being seasoned enough. It is also expensive. In addition, the food is not served at the same time. You can also cook faster and better at home.

Die Bewertung beschreibt ein sehr negatives Erlebnis im Restaurant. Die Tische waren klebrig und das Personal wirkte unorganisiert. Es gab extrem lange Wartezeiten: Musste eine Stunde auf einen Flammkuchen warten, der dann auch noch roh war,. Gab aber dann noch eine Steigerung, meine bessere Hälfte sogar zwei Stunden, bis das ungenießbar Essen für geschlagene 26,-€ kam. Insgesamt herrschte ein chaotischer Eindruck, und das Personal zeigte sich uneinsichtig gegenüber den Problemen, da man so viel zu tun hat und sein BESTES gibt ! Für die Preise einfach nur unverschämt! 100,- in die Tonne geschmissen ! Da können wir doch nur einen Dank aussprechen !

Kölsch: without foam from glass jugs. Location: very nice. Conclusion: it would be fair not to accept more guests than can be served with reasonable service.

Drinks and food take forever. The first meal came after an hour, the last of 5 after another. Even after asking, ketchup and mayo didn't come at all. Invoice was incorrect.

Had the worst Burger ever here. The thing gave me diarrhoea for 2 days. The service was ok and the beer was cold hence two stars but don’t eat here.

This place has *massively* improved in terms of service over the last few years. A bit annoying that they still don't take card though. The food is unfortunately quite bland and unexciting. Burgers are OK but the Flammkuchen is... really not enjoyable. It's very dry with hardly any cream or anything on top. And the actual dough really doesn't suit it: it's heavy, tough and very difficult to digest. Gave me a bit of a stomach ache. But overall this is a good place for drinks on the river and prices are OK! Just avoid the flammkuchen.

Unfortunately, the quality of the burger and salad were rather mediocre. The paddy very firm and with little taste. The service and ambience are an advantage here.

The ambience and the view of the Rhine are the most beautiful. The waiter was annoyed by the question of whether the dish was vegan. I apologize for my diet. 😞 Guacamole tastes artificial, like it's ready-made from the supermarket. Freshly served watery ginger ale.

Delicious! Service was good but cash only... That's not very good. So our stay was limited because we ran out of cash. The atmosphere is nice but cramped.

Unfortunately we had to wait a very long time (1.5 hours) for our food. Unfortunately, we weren't told when we placed the order that it could take so long. We think it's a shame! Food was otherwise okay. You've eaten better, but also significantly worse. The outdoor area is of course really beautiful and the view of the Rhine completes the ambience. The service is okay. Unfortunately, a waitress rarely came by where we were sitting. This left us with a drink and a meal in about 2 hours of presence. If you just want to have a drink in a relaxed atmosphere, Rheinlust is definitely a good place to go.

A nice shop, with good beer. You can put more effort into the ambience, for example using uniform tables and chairs and decorating a little more lovingly. The service is attentive, but next time please bring the pillows to the table and don't let the guest get them themselves. The chef actually talked very loudly, which was perceived as disturbing. It's definitely worth a detour to have a nice beer on the Rhine. However, only cash payment is cheese
