A place from which men can relax and look out over the Rhine.

Very fast and friendly service - although self-service - for everyone - things went very quickly in this sunny Sunday weather and with the big rush for cooling refreshments or smaller snacks. The iced chocolate tasted delicious. We enjoyed the wonderful view of the Rhine with boat traffic here on the terrace.

We were completely satisfied with everything. Very nice and courteous service lady. Excellent!

A small excursion restaurant on the pedestrian ferry on the Rhine in Xanten. It's very busy on sunny weekends and the counter for ordering drinks and picking them up is overwhelmed. This also applies to the kitchen, which is quite small...but the food and drinks are good. A nice view of the river and the opposite bank.

The food was very tasty and the service behind the counter was also friendly. A drawback, it is quite expensive and there is no table service, but the view over the Rhine makes up for it.

Tasty traditional German food, various home-made options, very friendly service, and beautiful views over the Rhine from both the outside terrace and indoors restaurant. Recommended for a meal, or for coffee and home-made cake, combined with a visit to the historic town centre of Xanten and the Archeological Park.

We were here on our motorbikes at the Zur Rheinfähre Xanten restaurant to take a break. An excellently maintained location. The outdoor area is located directly on the banks of the Rhine. Everything well maintained and clean. The interior is very spacious. You can stay here with larger groups even in bad weather. You also have a very nice view of the Rhine and the large ships from the inside. A great ambience, inside and outside. The staff is friendly and nice. You have to order and pay for food and drinks at the counter. You will then receive a transponder that signals when what you have ordered is ready for collection. The food is of good quality and is ready quickly. There is also a large cake counter with good-looking pieces. There are enough free parking spaces, including for motorcycles. And there are storage boxes for bicycles. Everything is great here and highly recommended as a restaurant. We'll be back soon.

Nice restaurant with a beautiful terrace located on the Rhine. The service and food is extremely good. Price-performance ratio is definitely right. We can recommend it

08/2024 We stayed on the motorhome pitch for one night. Price 15 € without electricity, water and no disposal. The use of the toilet is only possible during the opening hours of the restaurant. There is a very nice terrace right on the Rhine... See ships and enjoy the evening. The restaurant is self-service with a normal price/performance ratio. The selection is limited but tasty. I found the rolls in the morning for 80 cents a bit expensive, but they were very tasty.

a nice biker meeting, but not just for motorcyclists, there are also a lot of cyclists, walkers as well as many caravans and normal car drivers. With a beautiful view of the Rhine, the ferry and many ships! It's self-service, drinks are picked up directly at the counter, and for food you get a "beeper" who announces when it's ready to be picked up. Dishes are tasty and sufficient in quantity.

Nice café directly with a view of the Rhine. I was riding my motorcycle and had a drink there. Unfortunately, there are very few parking spaces for motorcycles, and unfortunately there is gravel everywhere on most of the area.

Currywurst/French fries almost inedible. One of the worst I've eaten in recent years. Hunger drove it in and that for €8.90. Drinks are also totally overpriced and this is when you pick them up from a beer cart... So you save a waiter and pay fine. For me personally, this will definitely be the last visit to this place.

One star less because of self-service. Otherwise, everything was great. Food and drinks, as well as cleanliness, were completely sufficient. The fifth star is basically only available with service.

After our bike tour around the Rhine, we take the ferry (super people) back over to the place where we started hours ago. But before we translate, we each eat a Jägerschnitzel with fries and a non-alcoholic Weizen. Which is strongly recommended!!! So, you can eat very well here and the staff is always friendly and perfectly organized, even when there is a lot of crowds. After our perfect bike ride through a very, very beautiful landscape, the perfect conclusion always follows. A big thank you to all the staff who make our lives more beautiful these days.

Was here on Friday to have a coffee and eat a piece of cake. It was well attended, but not too crowded. It's really crowded here on the weekend when the weather is nice.

This year it was newly renovated and converted to self-service, but the staff is still very nice and coffee and cake are always available there. Pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists, everything meets here directly on the Rhine.

Everything is nice and good, but for the price of breakfast the first coffee/cocoa can also be included. I find it rather cheeky when you have to pay extra for the first drink.

I drive there often on my motorcycle. Very popular destination in the summer months when the weather is nice. The restaurant is self-service, but the operators and employees are very friendly. I can recommend the cake, it is always very tasty...

It's worth it...and when the weather is nice, you can enjoy the impressions and the food of the people there, whether by car...motorcycle, or bicycle

The Rhine ferry near The food is good, home-style, and mostly successful. You feel comfortable, the staff is courteous. The snack bar is often visited by motorcyclists and motorhome tourists. Motorhomes can rent a parking space there.

Very friendly excursion restaurant, courteous staff, delicious home-made food, excellent selection of cakes, great view of the rain and Rhine boat traffic.

It couldn't be better in a bistro, our beloved living room at the Kerstgenshof campsite. We have been here several times now and are thrilled with the food prepared there, as well as the service and cleanliness. As a highlight, we recommend half a chicken with side dishes. Anyone who has ever eaten garlic chicken balls/wings in the mountains of Tenerife will truly be reminded of it here in the bistro, simply delicious😋😋 We will be back! Sabine and Hardy

Actually a nice place. However, completely overpriced. Currywurst with fries 9.90 euros, drinks e.g. b Cola 0.5 l 5.50 euros. Completely exaggerated. Nothing against the fact that everyone wants and has to earn. But this is just a rip-off. And then compare it with a posh restaurant. That is not how it works. Toilets stink of urine.

The prices are, well, according to the excursion restaurant... They know that they have a certain kind of monopoly position on the bicycle and pedestrian ferry and they use it profitably. But you also have a great view of the Rhine and the ships passing by. Edith (04/2024: Went there again on Easter Monday. After renovation, it now has a modern style inside, while the outside area looks more modern and well-kept. But honestly? A dry waffle without everything costs 3.50 euros, with cream cherries and a scoop of ice cream almost 9.00 euros and a primitive currywurst with fries for over 10.00 euros... An admittedly delicious, but NOT handmade, but machine-made latte macchiato for 4.00 euros, a glass of 0.3l cola for 3.90 euros... These are prices that I would expect in a theme park or a better discotheque and even then I would be reluctant to pay. As chic as it is there now, if I don't have to because there's nothing else open, unfortunately the nice landlady won't see us anymore. Speaking of which: where before you had a wonderful view of the motorcycles and could watch them come and go, there is now a wall. You can't see anything anymore. Therefore unfortunately down to 2 stars, sorry! The renovation was certainly well-intentioned, but well-intentioned is not always well-done. And you weren't cheap before, but now... No.

Great place to enjoy a sunset meal. The two ladies who provided us with delicious food (liver cheese with fried potatoes and shrimp with aioli) were very friendly.

Actually a nice cafe/restaurant. Unfortunately the service was subpar. Two of us ordered café and drank on the terrace. I was insulted on the terrace because of a drink I had brought with me, even though I am not allowed to drink drinks from taps or vending machines due to my severe disability. There are people who are not allowed to eat and drink everything due to health restrictions. There is no insight because then everyone could bring something with them. We'll be spending our money elsewhere soon.

Very nice area, I was traveling on a motorbike and stopped there. Very nice view of the water. A nice break for motorcyclists. I can only recommend. I can't comment on the food, I just drank a coffee and enjoyed the view, then continued on the motorbike. One thing I know, I'll be back!!!
