Nice restaurant, perfect as a stop on a bike tour. Approximately 30 meter high viewing point with glass floor (no elevator!) Food was great, service was very friendly, just a little shy at times, so there was a bit of a wait when ordering or paying.

Good place to eat while enjoying an afternoon in the park. Very good and delicious German food. Try the Mango tea and the schnitzel with pfifferlinge (mushroom) sauce. This schnitzel is not just another one of the bunch, this one stands out for how good it is. The staff is very friendly and the service is very fast.

I'll start with the service. Attentive and quick. I had baked potatoes with sour cream and that was very good. Above all, there was enough sauce My wife had a small schnitzel with fries and salad. Afterwards we went to the koi pond. And then we continued along the geology path towards Hattersheim where we visited the rosarium. All in all, a worthwhile destination.

Unfortunately not a single vegan dish and not even plant-based milk for the coffee. That's ok for a steak restaurant in the city center, as you don't have to go there as a vegan, but for a restaurant that specifically advertises itself as a location for family celebrations, meetings, etc., I don't think it's up-to-date. At family celebrations etc. there is always one or two people who want to eat sustainably and cruelty-free and are not supported here. Otherwise, the food was good quality and everything else was top notch.

The staff was nice and tried to make sure everything ran smoothly. Sometimes they were a bit overwhelmed and you had to wait a relatively long time. The quality of the food really could have been better, the prices are not justified for what you get. Unfortunately, we weren't feeling well the evening after our visit and were dealing with gastrointestinal problems. Since we all felt the same way, we're sure it had something to do with the food.

Went on a little bike ride today. After a photo session on the tower, my wife and I wanted to have a cool drink. Unfortunately nothing came of it! The restaurant only accepts EC cards from 15 euros and credit cards from 20 euros. An absolute no-go for me these days. Especially how the employee sold it to us. No, not possible, bad luck and goodbye. When it comes to card payments in Germany, we live behind the moon. Zum Wilden Donkey has one less guest! greeting Marcus

Very nice location with a great outdoor area, the food is ok, but I've never experienced schnitzel with 2 to 3 millimeters thick meat, which struck me as negative.

We ate there on a Tuesday evening and we particularly noticed the older service colleague who served us in an extremely friendly manner. Unfortunately, you no longer experience such hospitality in many restaurants. We were all the more positively impressed. The Jägerschnitzel was very tasty and the portion was enough to fill you up. Clear recommendation!

We ate here today and are very satisfied! We made reservations for about 30 people, which ended up being about 45. Even though we came in such large numbers, the employees were all very friendly and responded quickly to any questions. The food was brought to all tables at the same time, was warm and all requests were taken into account. The location is great! Suitable for parties & weddings. We would like to thank the Wilden Esel team for the good service!

You can sit there wonderfully with a beautiful view of the regional park. We've been there many times and enjoyed it, but the last few times the service and food weren't so good. In the past, people simply had more of an eye on the customer. The last few times we had to wait a long time for our order and also for the food. It wouldn't have bothered me so much but then the food was also spoiled. I got a new dish after I pointed it out, but what really made me uncomfortable was that it was just dismissed with an apology. I would have at least expected that they would have offered a drink on the house or something similar. For me it doesn't work at all because a guest should actually like to come back and you should try to make them happy. It's a shame, so unfortunately I can't leave a good review.

I always enjoy coming here. You sit very quietly and beautifully on the terrace in the countryside. It's not far from the parking lot. I have always received very friendly service and the food tastes good. You can also sit comfortably inside. I'd love to come back.

The outdoor furniture needs some TLC. Loose boards on chairs and the paint is peeling. Not nice. The lumberjack schnitzel. Sad, fried bacon, overcooked fried eggs and tasteless french fries. Honestly, every factory canteen does it better.

The restaurant is cozy and is beautifully located near the gravel pits. There is also the option to eat outside. There is a playground and beautiful hiking and cycling trails. The observation tower is also nearby and also the nature conservation house.

This is an amazing restaurant, offers German dishes and beverages (cold and warm, alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Depending on the season, it's possible to eat on the terrace. It is accessible by 2 different entrances. What I don't like that much is that the bathroom are a bit far away and to get there it is only possible by stairs. Prices are fair, the personal is always nice and they're give you a great impress

We had dinner there some time ago. Unfortunately, the service is very inattentive and absolutely needs improvement. After we sat at the table for 15 minutes (with a small child) and no one paid any attention to us, we took the cards ourselves and informed the service that we would like to order. We were also not offered a children's chair. The service seemed overwhelmed and not enthusiastic about new guests. Food was okay. The ambience is even nicer.

Nice location with a 22m tower and you can go for a nice walk. The restaurant served very sufficiently filled plates. We didn't eat anything ourselves but there were happy faces to be seen.

The restaurant is beautifully located in the Weilbacher Kiesgruben complex. You can either sit comfortably inside or on the very spacious outdoor terrace. We ate very, very tasty and were served extremely friendly and quickly. The portions were generous and the prices were completely reasonable. Special requests were no problem. Overall, really a very nice experience. One thing would perhaps be desirable: there is not a single vegan dish on the menu. Since there are some vegetarian treats that could be easily veganized, I would like to give that as a suggestion. Nevertheless: full marks from us. It was great for the children that they could explore the outdoor area within our field of vision. The koi pond was an absolute magnet. After eating, it's a good idea to climb the tower. Right next to it is a climbing wall, a playground and a barefoot path.

We always great. Nice personel. Great cakes and coffee. Main courses are good to very good. You get something for your money. Ideal excursion destination in beautiful surroundings. The donkey is recommended at any time of the day.

Such a beautiful location right on the NSG. The small pond in front of the restaurant invites you to linger and the observation tower in front of it also invites you to marvel. The service was overwhelmed and rather understaffed, the processes need to be optimized. First the menu - waited 10 minutes - then the order was taken - waited another 10 minutes - then the cake came and after another 10 minutes the drinks. Unfortunately, the cake we ordered tasted like it had been thawed and was rather too soft, even though the food was very well prepared. Unfortunately the cream we ordered wasn't there. The price was okay. As an additional note, card payment is only possible from 15€ and credit card only from 20€. Contactless payment is not possible, which must be pointed out. (I often just pay with my Apple Watch) Despite the not so good experience, we would try the savory menu again and would be happy to have a better experience.

Unfortunately, lunch was out, so we waited a long time for the meal a la carte, almost an hour. The fried potatoes were not fresh after the long wait. Staff nice and friendly, will come by again.

We were here yesterday with 10 adults and 6 children between the ages of 2 and 8 and had a relaxing stay. The food is good and plentiful, the prices are reasonable. We like the modern atmosphere and the children love the playground. The service was friendly and attentive, all in all nothing to complain about. We'd love to come back. My tip on the side: don't forget mosquito repellent when sitting outside in the summer months.

We (a couple) occasionally go there for coffee and cake. However, the cake selection is very manageable - there is clear potential for improvement here... ;o) The ambience is nice: there is a viewing tower with a glass viewing platform in the immediate vicinity.

The Wiener Schnitzel that I ate was very tasty, but unfortunately it was already cold when it was brought after what felt like an eternity. The apple spritzer tasted very tasty. According to my companion's statement, the iced tea was a little too warm. Card payments with VISA cards are rejected by the staff and are therefore not possible. The atmosphere is nice, especially when the weather is good it's great to sit outside. Due to the long waiting time for the food, the cold schnitzel, the warm iced tea and the non-acceptance of VISA bank cards, there is a two-star deduction and therefore room for improvement.

Good food and drinks, good service and pleasant atmosphere. If you are in the area, worth a visit. When the weather is nice, the sunny terrace quickly fills up and even inside, it's a matter of luck to get a free table without a reservation. Service was well coordinated, so that the crowds of visitors were easily managed. There is a small menu and enough high chairs for children.

We were there for coffee. Cheesecake very small and didn't really taste good. Cappuccino was tasty but also very small. Overall there was no price-performance ratio.

We stopped there for dinner on Sunday around 4:30 p.m. The waiter gave us a table for 3 people, asked briefly if we wanted food or coffee - but didn't wait for our answer. We received our menu and were very pleased with the selection of dishes - but when we placed our order they said there were only schnitzel and fries for Sunday. No fried potatoes, no burgers, spaetzle or Kaiserschmarrn - logically the ready-made food can be fried faster... There were a few reservations, but strangely enough they were able to order EVERYTHING on the menu. Some guests were rudely told that they had to leave because the table was needed. There's a lot going wrong in this store. A really big compliment goes to the YOUNG service staff! They were very attentive.

We always like to go to the Wild Donkey in the summer in conjunction with a bike tour. Very nice staff and good food and drinks!

Wir waren hier zu Gast bei einem Hochzeitsessen. Die Location ist schön gelegen und das Essen war fantastisch. Das Personal ist freundlich, schnell und sehr aufmerksam. Hunde sind willkommen.

Ein schöner Ort um auch mal ganz spontan was zu essen oder nach einer Radtour was zu trinken. Personal nett und höflich ,die Speisen lecker. Wer mit dem Auto kommt kann evtl. mit dem Parkplatz etwas Pech haben aber meist nach kurzer Wartezeit bekommt man einen. Mit dem Fahrrad gut zu erreichen, liegt auf der Regionalroute.

Heute war es leider enttäuschend. Das Essen war ungewürzt und Rumpsteak wurde komplett durchgebraten.. Der Bedienung war es aber egal, niemand fragte uns nach unserer Meinung, ob es überhaupt geschmeckt hat. Der Service ist nett, hat uns allerdings manchmal nur auf Zuruf wahrgenommen.
