I highly recommend this place. Very friendly staff and the food is above average. The salad has a delicious dressing and isn't a massacre of raw vegetables. 😄 The portions are great value for money. The food also arrives quickly. All in all, a visit is highly recommended. 👍

The lasagna/cannelloni mix I had was fine. But I make it better myself. It lacks a lot of herb flavor.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We visited the Zum Schwarzen Löwen restaurant in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, and all I can say is: absolutely fantastic! We sat outside on the terrace with a direct view of the market square, the historic town hall, the cathedral, and a beautiful fountain – the ambiance was simply gorgeous 🌇⛲️. The restaurant itself is located in an old, historic building with a lot of charm – for that alone, I give it 10 out of 10 points 🏛️✨. The service was consistently friendly, attentive, and warm 😊. You can tell that attention to detail is paid here. We were served well all around. The menu offers a mix of Italian cuisine and classic Palatinate dishes 🍝🥘. Since we were in the mood for something traditional, we opted for Palatinate cuisine – and it was exactly the right choice. I had the Palatinate plate with bratwurst, saumagen (sausage), liver dumplings, sauerkraut, and fried potatoes – truly hearty and truly delicious 🥔🍖😋. I accompanied it with a regional white wine 🍷 and finished it off with a limoncello 🍋. All in all, a wonderful evening with excellent food, top-notch service, and a unique atmosphere. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely be back. Highly recommended! 👏✅

Great Palatinate cuisine. I tried the saumagen and liver dumplings and they were good. And if you don't feel like it, you can also get pizza and pasta. Highly recommended.

Pizza was very good, unfortunately a bit expensive at 13.80, wheat beer 5.60, well... The Asian waiter was unfortunately difficult to understand... Otherwise nice beer garden

Unfortunately, I was served with great reluctance by an Asian employee. He asked me to leave the table so that a larger group could sit there. It wouldn't have been a problem, I would have gladly done so, and I wasn't allowed to finish my drink—that's completely unacceptable. For me, that's not service and not hospitality.

The ambiance, the salads, and the atmosphere are very good. 2025.06 As always, absolutely perfect and friendly.

At first glance, it was great, but after opening the menu, I was almost shocked. The food arrived and the portions were miniature and the price was way too high. Once again, never again.

We were there on Sunday evening and sat in the courtyard. The pizza was a convenience product and the pasta was dripping with grease. Too bad. We felt like we were in a bad tourist bar. The interior is attractively designed.

The ambience is very good and pleasant. Unfortunately we didn't have the food we got. The pizza was fast food that you can get anywhere. Unfortunately, pasta with salmon and an undefined white sauce was not enjoyable. And all that together with 0.1 leg and water for say and write almost €50. Thank you never again.

Six of us were in the restaurant yesterday at 6:30 p.m. Very nice welcome and a champagne on the house for everyone (thank you again). All dishes were very tasty, especially the Italian salad is highly recommended. The pizza is super crispy like in Italy. The service staff was very accommodating! We had a very nicely set table in the next room. We'll definitely be back! Thank you again!🥂

Gutes Essen, sehr nette Bedienung

We were here for lunch and were quite disappointed. The menu is far too large and the quality of the food is below average.

Food was good and came quickly.

Nice restaurant with a beer garden in the courtyard. Pizza tastes okay, the base is a bit too thin and there is no dough on the edge. Carpaccio was good, the large wine spritzer for €5.20 is great. Friendly service, no long waiting times.

Scampi skewer with excessive amounts of garlic (I mean, in huge quantities!). Good cuisine is something different. Staff so-so. I can't recommend anyone.

Service was very bad. After we sat down we waited about 10 minutes and the card was placed on the table without comment. Before we got around to ordering a drink, the cellar was gone again. We decided on a tomato soup and bruschette. The tomato soup and the bruschette also came. Tomato soup was OK, unfortunately the bruschettes were already soggy, cold and tasteless. The main course was Penne Arrabiata. On the positive side, they were hot. Unfortunately the pasta was overcooked and the arrabiata was totally over salted. We wanted to point this out to the waiter, but he skillfully ignored us for 45 minutes. All in all, apart from the location, an absolute flop, unless you like overcooked pasta, soggy bruschetta and a young, unfriendly waiter.

Very unfriendly reception and impossible behavior from the staff during the placement. Have much better staff. Despite being a regular customer, it made us leave the restaurant.

1st order: Salmon fillet in Riesling sauce with noodles. A white plate arrived with almost white spaetzle and an almost white, mushy sauce. At first it's a shock. 2nd order: Rump steak, medium, with fries. It came with rump steak with fried potatoes that were mushy and soft. The steak was well done and therefore dry. Both dishes without any decoration. Price together: 65 euros. Never again! Unfortunately no photo because I was too shocked.

I used to eat here often during the years I lived in Germany. They had the best pizza & service staff in Neustadt.

The ambience is very nice. But my food wasn't ok. It looked quite unappetizing, pale and limp. Of course you can't make everything fresh, completely understandable. But if you use good products and follow the preparation recommendations, you can also prepare ready-made products in a more appealing way. When I said it wasn't what I expected, my plate was taken away and not even offered anything else. Too bad. Since only a few tables were occupied, it probably wasn't due to lack of time. Fellow travelers had Palatinate dishes (sausage stomach, etc.), which was probably ok. You should only offer what is reasonably appetizing.

I ate here several times during my stay in Neustadt, the food was good and the restaurant also offers good outdoor dining where you can sit down. The prices were reasonable. The location of the restaurant was centrally located in the city, so you didn't have to walk too far.

The pizza was good, as was the Palatinate dish. Only the sauerkraut had cooled down a bit. However, the prices are okay. The pizza comes in 2 sizes, which I think is good.

The wine spritzer was great, but the salad with salmon wasn't worth the money, we were very disappointed.

Salad was mediocre and didn't taste fresh. Side salad with milk dressing, although ordered with vinegar and oil. Excellent and delicious pizza. Service was tip top.

Service was nice and friendly 👍 The bruschetta bread was slightly crispy on the outside, unfortunately very dry on the inside and didn't taste quite as fresh. It just generally should have stayed in the oven longer. Pizza was okay. Spaghetti could have been presented nicer. Portion a little too small. At the end there was an espresso or schnapps on the house 👌

There were eleven people. First sat at a table for nine, then for ten people. Okay, but annoying to eat. Service was very friendly. Ordered across the menu: pizza, pasta, salad, schnitzel, Palatinate. Unfortunately, out of the 11 meals, 8 times I was really dissatisfied, 3 times it was “okay”. Quality of the food in no way reflects the prices.

Very good restaurant. We had a pizza Barbara and canelloni vegetariana. They were both delicious. The eis café as dessert was slap great.

Das Restaurant zum schwarzen Löwen ist auch erst über die Grenzen von Neustadt ein absoluter Inbegriff. Es werden sowohl die Klassiker der italienischen Küche meisterhaft präsentiert, als auch traditionelle pfälzische Gerichte. Eine einmalige Symbiose aus Klassik und Tradition wird hier gebildet. Qualitativ sind die offerierten Speisen hochwertig, sowie die zur Zubereitung benötigten Zutaten. Das Restaurant liegt inmitten des Neustadter Marktplatzes- sehr angenehm zu verweilen. Das Servicepersonal ist sehr freundlich und noch ganz nach der alten Schule. Frühere Werte wie Höflichkeit und Zuvorkommenheit werden hier noch gelebt. In Sachen Service ganz klar der Vorreiter. Ich komme gerne wieder.Professionell, adäquat und souverän!

Wir waren hier zum Mittagessen und hatten Saltimbocca Romana mit Salat zu 22,80 € und Putensteak Hawai mit Salat für 18,90 €. Das Essen war sehr gut, Service flott und freundlich, Ambiente hübsch, Preise okay.

Sehr schönes Lokal mit gutem Essen. Wer Italienische und Pfälzische Gerichte mag ist dort gut aufgehoben. Wir saßen im Hof trotz innen Reservierung, Aussage war da sie im Sommer es nur draußen machen, außer es regnet .

Wir finden es immer sehr lecker hier! Egal ob drin oder draußen, man kann gemütlich zusammensitzen und das Essen genießen :-) Die Servicekräfte sind sehr höflich und super aufmerksam, man fühlt sich willkommen.

Die Lage reisst alles raus. Das Essen war für den Preis eher durchschnittlich, vor allem lieblos serviert. Der Service liess auch zu wünschen übrig. Ich musste meine Kippen auf den Boden werfen - was ich normalerweise nie tue. Nach 5 mal am Tisch kam immer noch kein Aschenbecher.

Sehr angenehmes Sitzen im Innenhof! Salatteller mit Thunfisch und mit gebratenem Putenstreifen sehr lecker! Personal sehr freundlich!!!

Das Resti liegt auf der Südseite des Marktplatzes, man kann am Platz oder im Innenhof sitzen. Zudem gibt es einen kleinen und einen großen Gastraum. Das Angebot ist vielfältig - deutsche und italienische Küche. Das Essen ist lecker, die Portionen umfangreich. Und der Service flott, wenn auch ein ganz klein wenig griesgrämig.

Wunderschöner Innenhof in historischem Gebäude. Die Pizza 🍕 hat gut geschmeckt, mit dünnem knusprigem Boden. Service gut und aufmerksam.
