Delicious, authentic Italian food, great atmosphere, and excellent service. We love it 🫶🏼 I can't understand these negative reviews at all. Maybe just ask politely if something isn't as you'd like it to be – they're also very accommodating to criticism here. We love coming here and can only recommend it.

This was our first time as a group visiting this restaurant. We spontaneously decided to reserve a table after a hike. When making the reservation, we asked if gluten-free food was available. We were told they had gluten-free pasta (fusilli), but that fish and meat dishes were also available. We might have to expect longer wait times, as gluten-free pasta was cooked separately. The restaurant made a good impression, and the staff were very friendly and seemed competent. We assumed that the gluten-free food wouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed! Two people ordered gluten-free pasta. Shortly after eating, they began experiencing extreme nausea, diarrhea, and repeated bouts of severe vomiting. Symptoms that clearly indicate a non-gluten-free meal! We contacted the restaurant by phone that same evening. They denied any responsibility and insisted they had cooked gluten-free food. They claimed that after our reservation, they discovered they were out of gluten-free pasta. Apparently, an employee was sent to DM to buy gluten-free fusilli. Whatever they told us on the phone afterward, the physical symptoms spoke volumes!!! For us, it's clear that the food was definitely not gluten-free, even if it can't be proven in retrospect. I would like to emphasize that anyone who has to eat gluten-free should definitely not eat here!!!!! The food of all the other group members (who didn't have to eat gluten-free) was good. Our rating is therefore very negative! Anyone who has celiac disease, a food intolerance, or an allergy, etc., must be taken seriously! This was one of the worst experiences we've had so far!

There were only five tables occupied at lunchtime, but the waiter was completely overwhelmed. There was no orange juice, no Lillet, despite a small drinks menu. The pizza was the worst I've had in a long time, the salad was poorly dressed. We'll never go back!!!

A beautiful and stylish upscale Italian restaurant in a historic building on the market square. The dining room is very pleasant, especially on the second floor, and in good weather, there's a lovely outdoor area on the historic market square. The food is excellent, especially the fish dishes outside the daily specials, which are very well-crafted and prepared. A taste of the Mediterranean lifestyle in the Palatinate region!

The soup tasted like nothing, so I can't recommend the restaurant. I even had to throw up in the evening, and the soup came back out.

The waiter responded very quickly and very well. The food was tasteless and too little for the price. A companion and I both vomited that evening, and I had stomach pains for two days.

We celebrated our small civil ceremony at the Italian restaurant Gianni and couldn't have wished for a more beautiful place 😍...The third floor was specially prepared for us; stylish, cozy, and simply perfect for this special moment...The team was incredibly warm and attentive, and the food was a dream—everything fresh, delicious, and served with lots of love!...We felt completely at home and are very grateful for this unforgettable day. We can only recommend Gianni from the bottom of our hearts!

The big plus is the ambiance at the market square. They offer ice cream sundaes. On a blackboard with no prices. The surprise was the high bill. First, the waitress came to the table with an amount without a receipt. After asking, she brought a bill. The sundaes were far too expensive for the quality and portions. We were rudely informed that we were in 2025.

Summer is slowly returning, and Gianni's is putting out some great deck chairs and cushions. My daughter thought it was fantastic and sat down on a deck chair, and I sat down next to her. There wasn't a single seat taken outside. Suddenly, an employee came up to us and asked if we wanted a drink. I said no. Then she told us to please stand up. She wasn't the boss... maybe she should have asked the boss first, maybe she would have given us five minutes to just sit there. I then had to explain to my daughter why we weren't allowed to sit there. Sad. I work in a restaurant myself and would never have refused a mother with her small child a seat, especially since the place was completely empty. I'm just wondering, what was the problem?

I visited today with friends and we had a great time. The food was tasty and arrived relatively quickly. I found the service friendly, but every now and then something was forgotten. We noticed the boss as particularly hospitable :)

Right on the market square it's just great

The waiters were very helpful and the food we ordered was delicious but when the last boss came to take payment he asked us what we ordered we had difficulty understanding English and said he only accepts cash. Frankly, it wasn't very nice to have to pay cash for a large amount of money.

The following applies here: We have the best location on the market square in the sun and as a guest you are welcome to forego the rest. So we're happy to make you wait 20 minutes for your drink. We would also be happy to let you ask us three times to pay. Being told by three waiters that only the boss is allowed to collect...Please bring plenty of time. Nothing here takes under an hour for a drink. You wonder how things are going in this restaurant when you order a meal. Do you then sit in the market square for half a day?

I ordered the rump steak with asparagus tagliatelle and was really impressed. The rump steak was perfectly fried medium and the tagliatelle were also super tasty. The service was courteous and very friendly. I'd love to come back!😊

We are very disappointed with our last visit… We had reserved a table in advance as we had a family celebration. However, when we arrived we were taken to the third floor - there was no atmosphere at all, the echoes echoed throughout the floor, the tables were not set, etc. The room had nothing to do with a restaurant, but rather resembled an abandoned attic in a beautiful house... We had to leave the restaurant as our mood was immediately spoiled. We were sure that a reservation would mean we would be seated in the main room, where it was always cozy and welcoming. When making your reservation, please be sure to ask where exactly you will be sitting. Our evening was ruined... The employee on the phone didn't give us enough information. I think something like this needs to be discussed with guests in advance.

Felt more appearance than reality. Italian flair - definitely applies. However, the service was very disorganized and the quality of the drinks and the cleanliness of the toilets unfortunately did not reflect the prices on the menu. The location definitely has flair. However, heading represents the overall experience pretty well.

We won't visit again. Initially wanted to order a beer, but apparently it wasn't delivered. So no beer. Then ordered bruschetta, pizza and salad as a side dish. Plus red wine. Bruschetta was ok. Red wine came very late. Unfortunately pizza is just mediocre. I couldn't recognize the supposed buffalo mozzarella on the pizza as such. After asking several times, the salad only came shortly before the end, when we were already finished. We let him go back. The waitresses had some discussions with other guests about the wrong food. Weird mood. Overall, an experience that we don't need again.

When we moved here about nine months ago, we ended up at Giannis by chance and have been there at least once a month since then and have a good time. The ambience is authentic, the food is always wonderful and the staff is very warm. The boss in particular always manages to make us feel comfortable. Definitely my favorite restaurant in Neustadt!!!

We regularly dine at this restaurant and always feel very welcome and comfortable. The owner and her family are super friendly and genuinely interested in their guests. It's a great place to eat, especially with small children, because the owner and the entire staff are completely understanding and don't mind if the little guests are a bit more demanding. Quite the opposite; they always receive a lot of attention. The food is sophisticated and authentically Italian. If you'd rather have something a little simpler, you can also get a good pizza or homemade pasta. The constantly changing daily specials in addition to the à la carte menu also ensure a great variety of food, depending on the season. Highly recommended!

Beautiful, creative and unique ambience within historic walls. Very friendly and professional service and delicious food. We were upstairs for dinner. Very nicely and creatively decorated. Old and new in stylish harmony. The historic window frame facing the market square, the view of the market square and the old town streets, original and at the same time pleasant and modern wall lighting (cups), the beautifully set table, the friendly and courteous, professional staff, dishes that are tasty for the eyes and the palate... enjoyment all around!

We went here for dinner for the first time. Positively surprised by the great location. We were greeted very friendly and shown to a table. The waiter quickly brought us the menu and presented us with the board with the daily specials. The drinks we ordered didn't take long to arrive. After a little greeting from the kitchen, our pizzas arrived promptly, which not only looked good, but also tasted delicious. Highly recommend the tiramisu as a dessert. Our little dog, the Maltese lady Luna😉, wasn't a problem either, and at the end we had a little treat. We will definitely come back...

According to my 34 years of experience (and I only eat in restaurants) the best restaurant that offers Italian food from Stuttgart to Cologne. I have been to around 800 restaurants in southern Germany so far and have to admit that my experience here was superlative. Will definitely come again to enjoy the best Italian cuisine here.

We were greeted nicely and shown to the table. At first people constantly asked if everything was OK. The food on the menu is extremely tasty. I had the veal schnitzel with porcini mushrooms and fries. My opposite is the fish with risotto. The waiter was very nice and tried hard for us. But now this is coming. But unfortunately the food was extremely bad for this price. Watery mushroom sauce with lumps. Everything tasted bland, the fries seemed like they had been warmed up, I couldn't eat them. My counterpart tried it and was equally shocked by the quality. If I had eaten it my stomach would have turned. The bites I had were ugh. After the complaint, no one came to us to ask about our well-being. They didn't accommodate us in terms of price, but offered us a dessert on the house. Which was out of all proportion to the price of €32 for the schnitzel. Definitely a lot of room for improvement when it comes to food. Unfortunately, that's why this review. We will never eat there again. Quality and price are disproportionate to each other.

We were there on Sunday when shopping was open, signs advertised the best cheesecake etc., which we then wanted to order. It was said at the square that many cakes were sold out. We then decided on the cake that was still available + 2 latte macchiatos. The lattes were really small, the cake was sponge cake. The shock came when we wanted to pay because we had to pay €17 for two small latte glasses and two pieces of sponge cake. A latte macchiato at €4 in a 0.2 glass is extremely expensive, but charging €4.50 for a dry piece of cake is extortionate! Apart from that the spoons were dirty. We were definitely there for the last time

Before our visit (4 people), I had read the reviews, which were very broad. I wanted to form my own, unbiased opinion. Here is my personal conclusion: Unfortunately, criticisms expressed in the reviews don't seem to be taken that seriously. The daily table still has no prices and is carelessly placed in front of you without saying much about it. Ambience: we sat outside, with a view of the market square and church. A plus that is there, but doesn't really have anything to do with the restaurant's performance. The waitresses - male - seemed arrogant, listless and somewhat unfriendly to us. The food was good, but the prices, for example, normal schnitzel with fries and salad (salad cost extra) at 30.00 euros. There was no toilet paper in the toilet and nothing to dry your hands with. I reported it, but whether something happened afterwards...? A squat “bye” as we leave. My conclusion as a Neustadter: I won't go there anymore and won't recommend it to anyone else. There are better and, in true Palatinate style, friendlier restaurants that can cook just as well or even better. Too bad. But the owner can work on it as long as he recognizes criticism as constructive criticism.

The people working there speak poor English thing quite negative for a touristic place. The gnocchi were very bad, the pesto was not even close to an Italian pesto… the big issue came when we wanted to pay and they started a strange story regarding not having a card machine and then that is broken. With a small infant and the heat we had to go around town to find an ATM in order to take cash (pay a huge amount of fee from the bank) as in 2024 a restaurant and not a food truck does not accept credit cards! And the staff was so round! They did not inform us upon arrival and the only sign is in German

We recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant and I have to say the service was absolutely outstanding. Gianni in particular made our evening an unforgettable experience. He was attentive, friendly and always had a smile on his face. His food and wine recommendations were perfect and he really took the time to make sure we weren't missing anything. Such personal and dedicated service is rare these days - a big compliment to Gianni and the entire team! We'll definitely be back.

We went to the pizzeria last night. When I opened the menu, there were two long black hairs under the cover. After I complained to the boss, I was told: "There were already 700 guests there today, something like that could happen." I then had a freshly prepared lemonade with lime and ginger Ordered. Lemonade came with dried orange slices... like from the old Advent wreath... and currants. The bottom of the pizza my husband ordered was burnt. All in all, we don't go there anymore and we can't either recommend.

Went there for lunch and ordered seafood and salmon from the daily menu. Everything looked very tasty. Unfortunately, the stomach pain started shortly afterwards and after vomiting and diarrhea for the fifth time, we called them. When we politely pointed out that the fish was bad or there was something wrong with the food, we were asked if we doubted the quality of the cuisine and that that was impossible with you. In addition, we apparently ate something bad beforehand and, as partners, we probably infected each other. For us, who hadn't sat before, weren't partners and had a lunch date and hadn't seen before, that definitely sounded very plausible... Shortly afterwards, the phone call was quickly ended and we were told that we were welcome to come back at any time. Very rude and presumptuous! It's unfortunate... we enjoyed going there to this day, but after that it was the last time!

Food totally oversalted, service absolutely disgraceful. Absolutely not recommended as a tourist trap. Criticism is met with direct threats. Neither hospitality nor food are the strong points of this restaurant.

I was walking around the centrum when I came upon Gianni's. It has a great view of the square. I ordered the octopus salad and tagliatelle with beef and mushrooms, and everything was tasty and fresh. The server, Tony, was very kind and helpful, answering my questions about the dishes and making recommendations for the wine. He speaks excellent English and it was nice to have someone translate the specials for me, as my German language skills are not great.
