We rented an apartment here. Highly recommended, top!

We were at the Altes Zollhaus today. We experienced warm hospitality, excellent and humorous service, and absolutely first-class, regional food. We would 100% recommend it because everything was just perfect. Best wishes from Baiersdorf, and keep up the good work!

Very good food at a reasonable price. Extremely attentive staff. We each had a three-course meal, wine, and soft drinks. The menu is varied and refreshingly innovative. There's something for everyone here, enticing us to return to the old customs house.

After several very pleasant visits over the past few years, this time the experience was rather mixed... The spaetzle were overcooked instead of left as is, thus not really absorbing the sauce/braised dish, which was also quite insignificant. The venison burger also lacked flavor intensity, and the buns were toasted too long... The venison Caesar salad with venison, veal medallions, and veal shanks, on the other hand, was excellent. Service - not quite as attentive as usual; it was also very crowded and very loud inside. We would also like to see full attention and equal treatment for culinary-minded young people, just like us "grown-ups"... We've already provided feedback on site, but without any noticeable reaction.

07/2025 Since I could only repeat myself, I'll leave a detailed review. We can still recommend the restaurant without reservation. Thank you for the excellent service. 05/2024: As with the first visit, the food was exceptionally good. The old-school waiter was very friendly, attentive, and unobtrusive. Everything was harmonious and to our complete satisfaction. Many thanks to the entire team, especially the invisible team. For the first time, I would like to give an additional star 🌟, and it deserves it. Thank you for the great food, and please keep up the good work!!! The "Zum Alten Zollhaus" inn is definitely a rare gem in the restaurant industry! The friendly and courteous waiter makes you feel immediately comfortable and welcome. Not just a great waiter, he feels like the heart and soul of the place. Thank you! In my opinion, the clearly laid out menu leaves nothing to be desired in terms of selection. From traditional dishes to more modern variations, there's sure to be something for every taste. We were particularly impressed by the regional specialties, which were prepared with great attention to detail and conjured up a touch of home on the plate. The quality and taste of the food are outstanding. The fresh ingredients and skillful preparation made every dish a true feast for the palate. Since only fresh produce is used, dishes may not be available to order at all or may only be available in limited quantities, depending on the order. Quality definitely prevails over quantity here. Thank you for that. There is also a small outdoor area, which we unfortunately couldn't use due to the weather. Here you can sit by the water and enjoy the sun while enjoying freshly tapped beer and hearty food. Overall, the "Zum Alten Zollhaus" inn is highly recommended for anyone looking for traditional, regional cuisine in a cozy atmosphere and at reasonable prices. We came from Lübeck to visit family in Forchheim. Since we had seen the restaurant on a TV show and love to enjoy culinary delights, we were curious. Our expectations were more than met!!! The entire meal and the perfect wine recommendation were a dream. Everything was perfect, from the friendly welcome to the wonderful ambiance to the amazing food. The value for money is very impressive. We would especially like to mention the waiter, who shone with his skill and friendly, unobtrusive manner. It's great that something like this still exists. We thank the entire team for the wonderful evening and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Wir kamen aus Lübeck um unsere Familie in Forchheim zu besuchen. Da wir das Restaurant in einem Fernsehformat gesehen haben und sehr gerne kulinarische Highlights genießen,sind wir neugierig geworden. Unsere Erwartungen wurden mehr als erfüllt !!! Das gesamte Essen und die perfekte Weinempfehlung waren ein Traum. Alles hat perfekt gepasst, von der netten Begrüßung, über das tolle Ambiente , bis hin zum tollen Essen. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist sehr beeindruckend. Besonders möchten wir den Ober erwähnen, der durch sein Können und seine freundliche, unaufdringliche Art geglänzt hat. Schön das es so etwas noch gibt. Wir danken dem gesamten Team für den schönen Abend und freuen uns auf ein baldiges Wiedersehen.

I would have liked to order food to take away. However, this is not possible. When I asked at 8:00 p.m. whether there was still a table available, I was told that it would be too late for the kitchen when it was open until 10:30 p.m. on a Friday. Actually I just wanted to eat something and not spend the night there😂

The landlord has no idea about cooking. At 23 years old, he is not yet mature enough to give the right rating for my local your local, he should check his taste buds. And go to culinary school again.

An extremely fine restaurant with a very relaxed atmosphere. My personal highlight at Ambiente was the quiet jazz that was playing and the dimmed lights that made for relaxation. The food served there is an extreme delight for the palate of various tastes. Simply outstanding in terms of taste and visually like a small work of art. The cherry on the cake would be the extremely nice service. The very attentive and friendly manner of the service ensured a perfect feeling of well-being. I'm already looking forward to the next visit :)

Wow, what a wonderful evening at the Zollhaus. We've been living in Forchheim for eight years now and almost feel guilty that we only came by today. But that certainly wasn't the last time. The food was excellent and the wine recommendation was great. The portion sizes were also really reasonable. The evening was crowned by very friendly and personal service. Delicious food, perfect service! We came to the restaurant because we are regulars at Kuro Neko in Bamberg and therefore saw the program my local your local. We love game and sauces and we weren't disappointed, it was very good! And we got extra hot sauce! Also very good and not a given is that there are several open white/red wines (per glass) in great quality. The ambience is clear and straightforward, beautiful flowers at the table, it could perhaps be a little more comfortable and warmer with a few nice pillows and the plates could also be a little warmer, but that's complaining on a very high level. The waiter is Bome and creates a perfect feel-good atmosphere! Thank you for the lovely evening!

My order was for 10, my wife for 9, only the dough for the Maultäschle wasn't for 10, but the filling for 11. Delicious wine, chosen by the waiter, see you next time We'll be back

A really big cinema - the Golden Plate. Everything was super delicious. The deer and with it its golden plate was the crowning achievement, I have never eaten such delicious deer and of this quality. The whole team is very attentive, friendly - great. Keep it up, we'll be back!

Not as great as you might think when you skim through reviews: Measly portions, convenience-style side dishes and lots of perfume for dessert. (0.75l of water for €7.50... does that have to be the case?) We had a pretty noisy seat in the uncomfortably tight dining room. In addition, you prefer to sit opposite each other, which doesn't make you feel comfortable.

We've never been disappointed. Always a very tasty meal, which we enjoy. Super nice welcome from Milan, who always served us very attentively. Our candle light diner was a dream. We can recommend it 100 percent. Thanks to the Kraus family. A top restaurant in Forchheim that we don't want to miss anymore.

The professional work is not something you find often and it's nice to see the attention to detail. Thank you very much for that. Price-performance completely ok! There's a lot of work and time behind it. You can taste that. Gladly again and again! The second time in the Altes Zollhaus and the second time thrilled! This is exactly how you imagine an all-round successful evening. The service is excellent, the dishes are unique. Very competent, very professional, very personable, very accommodating. It's incomprehensible who would give it less than 5 stars. About a post: Apparently the meat wasn't served at the right cooking point... Such reviews really bother me! I am sure that this restaurant would have responded to a complaint promptly and resolved the issue competently and satisfactorily. Nobody is infallible. If you don't complain, it's your own fault. We were looking forward to a cozy, culinary evening and were not disappointed at all. The menu is - let's say clear - but that shouldn't be taken as a negative at all, the choice was already difficult enough given the offer! What was then confidently served by knowledgeable, competent and friendly hands convinced us in every respect! Many thanks again to the kitchen and service, the evening was extremely successful! The "ambience" deduction: please don't be angry, but I think arranging the tables other than "in a row" is not possible in the premises. But that doesn't detract from the overall impression!

This time too, on Boxing Day, we really got our money's worth here. Starting with the excellent service, which always impresses us, to the very tasty goose breast, to the successful atmosphere. This restaurant is a pearl of gastronomy not only for Forchheim, but far beyond the city.

The taste is OK. But definitely not enough to fill you up. Unfortunately the menu is not posted. It was a surprise how much it costs for a Michelin 1* chef. I've eaten better with other stereo chefs.

We would have liked to have been pampered today (08/03/24) by this generally well-rated restaurant. It wasn't obvious to us at first glance that as a guest you would be assigned a seat, so we dared to take a seat at a table in the outside area that was NOT reserved. This behavior was acknowledged as a “lack of decency” by an arrogant-looking waiter. We then left the restaurant without having accomplished anything. It's a shame, a waiter with a certain level of sovereignty would certainly have solved this situation differently. It should also be mentioned that we spent a lovely evening in a restaurant not far away.

Absolutely top. Last weekend we were guests in one of the beautiful apartments, which have everything you need and are very lovingly furnished. But the absolute highlight was dinner in the restaurant. I haven't eaten so well in a long time. Great service, prices reasonable to affordable and a nice atmosphere outside by the stream. Festival of delights We got two more tickets to this year's Festival of Delights in the Kaiserpfalz. We thought we had only paid for the meal, but we were far from it: We were greeted with rose sparkling wine from a winery that was responsible for the wine throughout the evening. Each course was accompanied by a wine, which was explained in detail. It was also refilled. Excellent! As a greeting from the kitchen there was wild boar sausage from the local butcher, very spicy and not at all strict. Then there was a “fish sandwich” (three kinds of fish on fresh bread), very tasty! This was followed by sturgeon on a delicious risotto, then a wonderful citrus sorbet. The main course was medium rare Franconian heifer with cheek ragout. The meat was wonderfully tender. (Small suggestion: you could have asked if anyone would like the meat to be more well-done, my wife would have said yes.) The finale was desserts in glasses to the point of abundance. A great evening with super creative cuisine (the chef calls it wild seasonal) and very good value for money. Small negative point: it was very loud in the tent, but no points were deducted because of that. We'll be there again next time

Very noisy restaurant, difficult to have a conversation.

Thanks to TripAdvisor I found this beautifully located location with great cuisine. We were there today for Mother's Day brunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. Even though we ate for over 3 hours, we didn't overeat, but left the restaurant very full and satisfied and went to the market. The mixture of antipasti and "classic" sausage/cheese platter flanked by warm dishes (scrambled eggs, spring rolls, filled dumplings) would actually have been enough! We particularly liked the fact that we could simply deselect individual hot dishes. So no dish was left on our table and admonished us. The dessert was the icing on the cake. The service was great. We were treated courteously and extremely nicely We would be happy to come back again. This TableBrunch idea is great and I'm now looking for something like it here in my region.

Wieder einmal kamen wir hierher und hatten, perfekterweise, den "Kellner" der hier im Umkreis die besten Sevicequalitäten hat, wunderbar!. Nicht nur, daß der Umgang miteinander einen guten Mix an Unterhaltung und z.B.Wein-Wissen vermittelt, sondern auch beiderseits Spaß macht, gepflegt bedient zu werden! Zudem ist die Weinkarte sehr ordentlich sogar im, für Deutschland, bemerkenswerten preislichen Rahmen. Die Speisen sind ohnehin immer in perfekter guter Qualität und äußerst schmackhaft. Die, für den Sommer mehr als geeignete Gazpacho, ist immer empfehlenswert und lecker. Unsere absolute Empfehlung für dieses sehr gute Restaurant!

Sehr empfehlenswert. Gehobene Preisklasse, aber es ist es wert. Netter Empfang und Bedienung. Leider, wie immer häufiger der Fall, nur Abends geöffnet. Für uns schade, da wir lieber Mittags essen, vor allem, wenn es etwas mehr Gänge sind. Aber ansonsten 5 Sterne. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Eines unserer besten Abendessen des letzten Jahres. „3 x Wild“ bzw. die gebratene Kalbsleber waren von hervorragender Qualität und Michelin-mäßig zubereitet. Dazu ein sehr guter rosé Cremant und ein vorzüglicher Primitivo sowie die „Überraschung“ Nachspeise. Und das ganze mit einer sehr freundlichen und schnellen Bedienung. Spitze!

Super angenehmes Ambiente, sehr freundlicher Service und leckere und sehr appetitlich angerichtete Speisen zu regional gehobenen, aber sehr fairen Preisen. Ganz großes Lob, da macht Essengehen doch Spaß!

Das Essen ist von Qualität, Ästhetik und Genuß einfach herausragend! Geschmacklich perfekt, liebevoll und fantasievoll angerichtet: Besser geht nicht. Natürlich teurer als Normalkost, aber den immer noch bescheidenen Preis absolut wert.

Seit langem haben wir nicht so gut gegessen. Feine und aufmerksame Bedienung, die Küche ist ganz offensichtlich in Händen eines Könners. Saßen sehr nett am Bachufer. Endlich mal wieder ein rundum gelungener Abend. Das Restaurant verdient 2 Sterne im Guide Michelin.

Une magnifique découverte. Cuisine raffinée et soignée. L'accueil a été très intentionnée. Nous avons pu profiter d'une table en terrasse ombragées, bercés par les clapotis de l'eau. Chaque plat était unique et sublimé par le vin judicieusement conseillé. Il nous a été proposé de partager l'entrée afin que l'on puisse déguster 2 plats. L'association des goûts est choisieàlaperfection. Tout nos sens sont mis en exergue. Je ne peux que conseiller cette adresse et me réjouis de découvrir de nouveaux mets.

Wir kommen wieder! Jeder der Gänge war für uns ein ganz besonderes Geschmackserlebnis! Wir haben uns vom Ambiente rundum wohl gefühlt und der Service/Kellner war erstklassig!

Ausgezeichneter Service im modernen Ambiente mit sehr leckerem Essen. Ohne vorher reserviert zu haben, wurden wir nett aufgenommen. Allerdings empfehlen wir rechtzeitig zu reservieren. Gerne wieder! Ein Servus aus München.

Hervorragendes Essen mit perfektem Service

Meine Frau und ich waren nach längerer Zeit wieder einmal im Zollhaus zum Abendessen. Nachdem die letzte Bewertung auf Tripadvisor vom Oktober 2021 ist, waren wir zunächst über die Platzierung etwas irritiert. Aber bereits bei der Vorspeise haben wir erkannt, warum das Lokal auf Platz 1 in Forchheim ist. Die Hauptspeise war sensationell. Auch die Nachspeise konnte noch mithalten und war richtig lecker. Die empfohlene Weinbegleitung von Milan hat unseren Geschmack zu 100% getroffen und das Preis-/ Leistungsverhältnis passt im Zollhaus sehr gut 👍🏻 Wer einen schönen Abend mit sehr guten Essen in freundlicher Atmosphäre verbringen möchte, ist im Zollhaus genau richtig

Mir wurden zwei Weine empfohlen, die super zur Vorspeise und Hauptgang passten. Und mit 7,50€ waren diese normal bepreist. 2. das Essen. On point. Kreativ, Geschmack: hohes Niveau. Ich bin begeistert, ich hatte einen sehr schönen Abend bei sehr gutem Essen, Wein und Service. Das Restaurant ist seinen Preis mehr als wert. Der Service ist ebenfalls über jeden Zweifel erhaben, kennt sich aus und ist äußerst nett und zuvorkommend.

Neulich habe ich dort einen runden Geburtstag mit über 30 Gästen gefeiert. Angefangen von der professionellen Beratung bis zum Ende der Feier lief alles wie am Schnürchen, ohne die geringste Panne. Die einfallsreich kreirten Speisen waren vorzüglich, die Weinbegleitung dazu passend. Der zeitliche Abstand zwischen den einzelnen Gängen war perfekt, so dass sich die selbst gestalteten musikalischen Einlagen, sowie das heißbegehrte Fotoshooting an der Fotobox wunderbar integrieren ließen. Eine 1 mit Stern bekommt der augezeichnete Service. Die Gäste waren gelöst und bestens gelaunt. Fazit: Eine glatte Empfehlung für Christopher Kraus und sein Team.

Das essen hat prima geschmeckt. Doch einen Punkt abzug. Auch bei Nouvelle Cuisine sollt mann bei € 30 fuer das Hauptgericht doch satt werden. Mit etwas mehr Gemuese laesst sich das auch noch Rechnen fuer das Restaurant. Dann haben wir noch etwas mehr ausgegeben fuer den ausgezeichneten Nachtisch.

Wir hatten einen Anlass, den wir besonders feiern wollten. Das ist mehr als gelungen. Service und Speisen samt Empfehlungen waren einfach großartig. Der Ober aufmerksam, kompetent und freundlich. Highlights waren die Wildgerichte aus eigener Jagd und das Filetieren des Loup de mer am Tisch. Große Empfehlung!

Gehobenes, entspanntes Ambiente mit gehobenen Preisen. Zur Vorspeise hatte ich eine Karotten-, Ingwer-, Kokosschaumsuppe mit einer Garnele. Es war einer der Besten Suppen, die ich je gegessen hatte. Zum Hauptgang hatte ich ein Entrecote, ich hatte Medium bestellt und es war auf den Punkt Medium gebraten. Ebenfalls ein Genuss. Zum Dessert hatte ich das Creme Brulee, auch das war eine Geschmacksexplosion. Die Gerichte waren sehr hochwertig angerichtet, der Kellner hat uns freundlich bedient & die Wartezeiten der 3-Gänge waren kurz. Jeder der im Forchheim wohnt oder die Stadt besucht, sollte umbedingt ein Abstecher ins Zollhaus machen.
