Restaurant Zala Rothenbaum in Hamburg

Ein ordentliches indisches Restaurant mit einer sehr kleinen Speisekarte. Das Dal Tadka ist gut. Das Chicken Makan war etwas enttäuschend. Der Service ist gut und das Lokal ist sauber. Es gibt kein Naan, nur Roti oder Paratha, die man aber bestellen muss – sie stehen nicht auf der Karte. Insgesamt ist es für das Gebotene etwas teuer.

Service: Um 22:00 bestellte ich noch ein Chicken Curry zum Mitnehmen, innerhalb von 10min wurde mir die Tüte an den Tisch gebracht, die Wartezeit wurde mit einem Mango Lasi versüßt. Der Service war herzlich und nett. Essen: Chicken Curry Mittelscharf, genau das was man erwartet, genau das was man braucht. Pikante schärfe, saftiges und heißes Huhn in toller Sauce, sehr aromatischer Reis. Ambiente: nicht 100% auf dem Niveau wie Service und Essen. Es ist sauber, traditionell etwas kitschig und die Einrichtung schon etwas älter, hat aber einen gewissen Charme.

Praktischerweise ganz in der Nähe der U-Bahn Hallerstr. und dem Universitätsviertel. Ich liebe hier ganz besonders das Chicken Bhuna, dass man auch wirklich scharf gewürzt bekommt, wenn man es so haben will 😋

Wir sind eigentlich Stammgäste in diesem indischen Restaurant und da meine Freundin indische Wurzeln hat, aber wir in Hamburg so ziemlich alles ausprobiert. Das Zala in der Rothenbaumchaussee ist aber unsere klare Nr. 1! Es ist extrem gemütlich eingerichtet, der Service ist wirklich immer extrem freundlich, hält jedes Mal den hohen Standard und das essen sowieso ein absolutes Highlight. Wer wirklich auf authentisch indische Küche steht kommt komplett auf seine Kosten. Extrem gute Qualität und perfekt zubereitet. Ganz klare Empfehlung und deutlich besser als einige Ketten.

Ich war heute bei Zala im Rotherbaum essen und bin wirklich begeistert! Das Essen war unglaublich lecker, frisch und voller aromatischer Gewürze. Die Atmosphäre war angenehm ruhig, sodass man sich wunderbar unterhalten und entspannen konnte. Die Kellnerin war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam, ohne aufdringlich zu sein – man hat sich direkt willkommen gefühlt. Besonders schön fand ich auch die leise indische Musik im Hintergrund, mit wunderschönen traditionellen Melodien, die perfekt zur Stimmung gepasst haben. Ein rundum toller Abend

Ich habe hier indisch gegessen. Verschiedene Hünchen Spezialiteten und Mangolassi als Getränk. Es ist sehr Lecker und ich finde es gemütlich Eingerichtet. Es wird nicht mein letzter Besuch sein.

SERVICE-HAMMER in Hamburg! Wer hier nicht bestellt, ist selbst schuld! Ich bin ehrlich beeindruckt! Wir machen gerade Urlaub in Hamburg, haben dementsprechend viel bestellt, aber was wir gestern beim Indischen Restaurant Zala erlebt haben, setzt neue Maßstäbe. Das war Professionalität auf einem ganz anderen Level! Der Vorfall und der Wahnsinns-Service: Bei der Lieferung ist bei zwei Gerichten etwas Soße ausgelaufen. Ganz ehrlich: Kann passieren, ist kein Weltuntergang. Aber wie das Team reagiert hat, war einfach erstklassig! Die Fahrerin war derart freundlich, zuvorkommend und kompetent – einfach top! Auch der Chef hat sich sofort persönlich der Sache angenommen. Ohne Diskussion, extrem lösungsorientiert und super freundlich. Ob Ersatz oder Geld zurück – hier wird sich um den Kunden gekümmert, bis alles zu 100 % passt. Erstklassig! Das Essen (Achtung, Feuer!): Das Essen ist geschmacklich einfach geil. Aber ein kleiner Tipp an alle: Passt beim Schärfegrad auf! Meine Frau hatte mittelscharf, ich habe indisch scharf bestellt. Was soll ich sagen? Mir dampfte es ordentlich aus den Ohren! Es war heftig, aber trotzdem super lecker. Vielleicht wäre eine Zwischenstufe wie Deutsch-Indisch-Scharf eine gute Idee? Etwas schärfer als mittelscharf, aber nicht ganz so krass wie die indische Original-Schärfe. 😉 Fazit: Ich mache hier wirklich uneigennützig Werbung, aber Qualität und Service müssen belohnt werden. Wenn ihr in Hamburg seid: Bestellt bei Zala! Geiles Essen, Hammer-Service und ein Team, das selbst dann absolut professionell reagiert, wenn mal etwas schiefgeht. Habe ich so noch nicht erlebt. Sehr leckeres Essen in angenehmem Ambiente mit freundlicher Bedienung

Der Kundenservice war hervorragend. Obwohl die Lieferung aufgrund einiger Probleme extrem verspätet war, waren die Mitarbeiter sehr hilfsbereit und boten mir eine Rückerstattung an. Das Essen war ausgezeichnet und warm.

The Food is delicious 😋 and service is Top

The "zala" coupon advertised on the website, which is supposed to give you a 10% discount on your order, hasn't worked for ages. The delivery fee isn't necessary either. The chicken curry was really good for €10.90, but unfortunately, it's now overpriced. The taste is somehow different every time, as if different chefs are working on it and not using the same recipe.

My wife and I spontaneously went to the Zala restaurant at the Roten Baum today because of our gift card. We were absolutely thrilled. Despite our gift card, we received a warm welcome and enjoyed a delicious and plentiful meal. I've often had different experiences because of the gift card, in terms of friendliness or the size of the dish. My wife ordered the chicken masala and I the lamb biryani. For starters, we ordered an appetizer plate for two people plus various raitas. Everything was hot, fresh, and delicious. The biryani was so delicious and the lamb was tender, and I couldn't stop enjoying it. The chicken masala was fruity and beautifully spicy, as requested. The rice was simply divine. The raitas had a lovely minty flavor and went perfectly with the food and the fresh bread. The ambiance and service were first-class. We will definitely return and recommend Zala to anyone who wants to enjoy delicious and authentic Indian cuisine.

I've eaten there twice and had it delivered several times. Very friendly staff, delicious food. Especially hot and spicy, if you like Indian spices. Delivery took only about 15 minutes each time. The food was well packaged and therefore piping hot. Favorite dish: Chicken Mango.

An incredibly beautiful Indian restaurant. The whole package is just right here! The ambiance is truly wonderful, the food tastes incredibly good, and the service is exceptionally friendly! Additionally, the prices are truly fair and, by current standards, "affordable." We had a mango lassi and a blackcurrant spritzer, which were served cocktail-like and were delicious. Both the appetizers (fried vegetables and onions in chickpeas) and the main courses (Indian cream cheese in spinach curry and lentil curry with vegetables) were incredibly tasty and filling. We were also served chickpea bread with dip on the house. The restroom is also clean and inviting (as inviting as a restroom can be). We are very, very satisfied with our entire visit and will definitely be back!

I had dinner there with my girlfriend, and it was absolutely delicious! The service was super friendly. We particularly enjoyed the butter chicken, even though it's not on the menu, so feel free to ask! The mango lassi is also highly recommended. We'd love to come back.

We are in Hamburg again and since we both love Indian food, we reserved a table at Zala. Very, very friendly staff, a quiet and cozy atmosphere and the food is really a poem. I don't eat meat myself and ordered fried vegetables with delicious spices from the oven. The vegetable pakoras were also great. Everything just fit again, thank you very much for this great meal! We always enjoy coming back.

I was born as a German in India and lived there for the first 16 years. On the occasion of my 60th birthday, I invited my family and my elderly parents and my three sisters and their friends to Zala. We had requested the separate room and it was beautifully prepared for us by Mr. Meraj. As discerning India connoisseurs, we were able to enjoy authentic Indian cuisine and give Zala the highest marks! Thanks to Meraj and team.

Zala has by far the best palak paneer I have ever tasted! The spinach is perfectly seasoned, the paneer is wonderfully tender, and the flavors are authentic and intense. You can really taste that everything is freshly prepared. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and the staff is super friendly and attentive. If you love Indian food, you must eat here. Absolute recommendation

Very tasty food! Well I just went to take away What to eat with my family. Lamb curry with rice. Also with dal rice. I have never eaten it like this in an Indian restaurant.

Unfortunately a big disappointment. We like the charm of such restaurants and don't have high expectations, but a little attention from the staff should be given. We were seated in the back area, there was no music playing, instead you could hear the clattering of cutlery, more of a cafeteria atmosphere. The service was inattentive, untrained and overwhelmed. After over 20 minutes they didn't even ask for water. One waitress even had an AirPod in his ear. Everything seemed very careless and without any sense of a good restaurant experience. Whether everything was okay was never asked. Instead, the food was placed on the table without comment and not even cleared away at the end. The starter was a carelessly presented plate of fried, unrecognizable vegetables that tasted like stale fat. The bread we ordered only came after repeated requests - long after the curry had been eaten. Overall the food was overpriced and disappointing. A bottle of water for seven euros is outrageous. It's better to go to the kebab shop around the corner - you'll feel better there and the food tastes even better. Conclusion: no atmosphere, bad service, loveless food, prices that are too high - definitely not a recommendation!

On a cold November evening, I was happy to walk into this warm, cozy restaurant and be greeted with a friendly smile. I had Lamb Saag (medium hot plus) and got the spiciness I wanted exactly. The dish was so much that I couldn't finish it. The waiter packed the rest for me. The waiter held the door open for me as I was leaving, something I haven't experienced in a long time ;-)

Nice restaurant with good food and very nice staff. The food is served in small pans and since you fill yourself up you can easily share the dishes with each other.

Overall, a successful visit. The restaurant is decorated in typical Indian style, with large windows facing the street that let in lots of light. We enjoyed the food. There is a large selection of vegetarian dishes. It's worth mentioning that dishes based on beef are offered, which in my experience is unusual for Indian restaurants. The service is extremely friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the dessert wasn't quite to our taste, but we weren't charged accordingly. Finally there was an excellent Mango Lassie.

We came to the restaurant relatively spontaneously after a concert in the neighborhood and half an hour before closing time, after the surrounding restaurants had already sent us away.
