Shikara in Hamburg

For many years, this has been a wonderful Indian restaurant for me, with a great atmosphere, beautiful decor, great food, and very friendly service.

Nice waiter, good food. Unfortunately, there's a construction site right outside, which you only notice at second glance.

A truly fantastic Indian restaurant in Ottensen. The starters, in particular, are a highlight: fresh, aromatic, and so lovingly prepared that you'll want to try everything. The samosas and chutneys were simply perfect. The rest of the meal was also excellent, but even the small dishes at the beginning make Shikara something special. You can tell that the food here is cooked with passion. The service was very friendly.

Very good! Shikara is worth every visit; everything tastes fantastic. We've never had the Bombay prawn crunch anywhere else and it was incredibly delicious. The Homade lemonades were also excellent. The atmosphere and the staff were fantastic. Great place, the first Indian restaurant in Hamburg, a great shop.

The food was very tasty and we were full, we just waited a long time because it was so busy, otherwise everything was good and the waiter was so nice ☺️

We were there for the buffet dinner today. Thanks to the Groupon deal, it was a lovely evening. There are cold starters and salads, naan bread, pakoras, three hot dishes, a variety of dips, and three desserts to choose from :) We enjoyed everything. We were there at 6 p.m., and it was quite full, but the buffet wasn't very crowded 👍🏼 If you like unusual or special Indian dishes, you should order from the menu.

Wonderful dining experience! The waiter was so sweet and funny, and helps you decide exactly what you want! Shikara will always be such a lovely experience, and the food is just as good, if not better! I got the butter chicken and it was delicious. Definitely recommend this place because not only are their prices are great, but the food and service is too.

No words are enough! Mr. Khan is such a fantastic host welcoming, attentive, and genuinely passionate about creating an unforgettable experience. Chef Sanjay took the time to confirm our preferences and then crafted absolutely incredible dishes that exceeded all expectations. Chef Mani Lal also deserves a huge shoutout for his amazing contributio—together, they delivered some of the best food we've ever had. And let's talk about the naan: hands down the best naan we've ever tasted! The atmosphere is truly extraordinary—warm, vibrant, and full of character. Everyone in Hamburg should experience this gem at least once. Highly, highly recommended!

Excellent food, impeccable service, and a wonderful atmosphere. I felt valued throughout. I highly recommend it and would gladly return anytime. Before the meal, there was a small welcome from the kitchen, as well as a small dessert at the end. And I received excellent advice, as I have no experience with Indian cuisine in restaurants.

The buffet was incredibly delicious, and the wine was excellent, not only in terms of taste but also in value for money. A very lovingly decorated restaurant with a lovely terrace at the back. The food was truly delicious, and the menu definitely includes all the classics of Indian cuisine. The naan bread is served on a wooden board. Overall, everyone makes a lot of effort, and the service is also very charming. We'll definitely be back.

The staff is super friendly and accommodating; you feel seen and appreciated. The food is incredibly good. We enjoyed it in silence for several minutes and then realized the food was so good that we'd forgotten to talk. There was a small appetizer and dessert on the house – both delicious. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend Shikara.
