Food was good and I would go again

Finding the restaurant is a bit of a challenge for those unfamiliar with the area, as you have to drive across the Schlossplatz square, and there are also limited parking spaces. The food was excellent, hot, and delicious. Good German cuisine. The service was very friendly. The price/performance ratio was good.

The staff was friendly. There were two thin slices of baguette with spread as a gift from the kitchen. I would be ashamed to offer that to a guest as a greeting. It used to be better.

Historic ambiance, beautifully decorated. A very friendly young lady looks after the guests; unfortunately, there was no cake. The coffee was excellent, just about two beans short. The surroundings are phenomenal. I'll be happy to come back when in the area.

We had our meeting here today, which was a good idea in itself, but unfortunately, some things weren't planned, for example, that there were more guests than usual. Some of the orders were forgotten, and when we asked, they actually said they had brought them, but the dishes weren't there either, for example, for a coffee. Some of the fries were cold again. My croquettes were nice and hot, but the chicken breast was already cool. It tasted good, though, and that's something. The open outdoor area hasn't been maintained for a long time, which is a shame, because you can do so much with it. We made the most of it... Perhaps other guests will experience it differently....

Short lunch break after visiting the castle. Although the Sunday menu was very busy, they still found a free spot for me. The service was very friendly. The ambiance inside is very nice, and the wait time was reasonable. I recommend everyone to make a reservation in advance for the weekend!!! The star deduction is for my drink, which was too diluted with water. It didn't quite look like apple spritzer...

We were visiting the castle and wanted coffee and cake. After sitting for 15 minutes, we realized we hadn't been served yet. After ordering, we waited another 20 minutes. Others who arrived after us were served quickly and even finished their drinks during that time. It was noticeable that there were disagreements among the staff. Unfortunately, this was to the detriment of the customers.

We were there on a Saturday lunchtime and didn't really feel welcome. Could it be because of the two children? The unfriendly waiter was about to send us away like other guests. Then, presumably, the manager came and said that the tables weren't reserved until the evening and we could sit there. Unfortunately, it took a very long time for us to get our food. The food was delicious and okay. But the value for money is still poor. When I went inside to pay because it was taking too long again, the waitress simply said, "The meal is already 69 euros." What is this supposed to tell me?

A wonderful birthday surprise for me. The table outside was beautifully set, and the restaurant staff were very accommodating and friendly. From the welcome from the kitchen, to the appetizer, main course, and dessert, we had nothing to complain about. In my opinion, the price-performance ratio was right, and it was delicious, too. Of course, everyone has different tastes, and I think everyone should try it out for themselves and decide for themselves. Of course, you can also find something to complain about...little things that might contribute to the overall well-being. For example, it really bothers me when the waiter's clothes don't really match...but every restaurant has to decide for itself whether it should be or not...little things, after all. One thing is certain: even if it lacks a bit of cleanliness, we'll definitely be back.

I was expecting a tourist rip-off. But everything turned out differently. Very friendly hosts. Super delicious food, and even more unexpectedly... delicious craft beer straight from Ludwigslust. It couldn't be better.

When asked if I can recommend this place, I unfortunately have to say: no, it's dirty, the boss has poor oral hygiene, the charming waitress is very helpful and very friendly, I think the location in which the restaurant is currently located is due to the management

The cakes and drinks were delicious. Actually a nice atmosphere, but not entirely clean and not decorated with attention to detail (crooked pictures, inconsistencies in style, etc.). The staff was okay. It wouldn't be worth a second visit, though.

The location at the castle is very beautiful. The food wasn't bad, more like good, home-style fare. The restaurant/café could be improved. It's missing that "certain something" that would make you want to come back.

Visited on a Saturday, late afternoon. When we asked at the counter whether we wanted coffee and cake, we received a rather hesitant response and were told that there was an event taking place in the garden. We were told we could sit outside at one of the tables that hadn't been reserved. No sooner said than done. The table was next to a parasol, and the used dishes from the previous guests were still on the table. After about five minutes, an order was taken at the next table. Unfortunately, the menu wasn't brought to us after that, and the table wasn't cleared either. After another five minutes, we left the place.

24.90 for a supposed veal schnitzel that was barely 2mm thick, had just as much breading around it, and wasn't seasoned is pretty steep. The salad, unfortunately, was too stale. My wife's seasoned beef was tasty. The service was friendly and quick.

Wir veranstalteten am 07.06.2025 eine Familienfeier in der „Alten Wache“. Mittagessen, Kuchen und Kaffee sowie Imbiß am Abend wurden – wie zuvor abgesprochen – wohlschmeckend, reichlich und passend arrangiert gereicht. Die Bedienung war aufmerksam, zuvorkommend und freundlich. Wir alle waren des Lobes voll ob dieses gelungenen Events, zumal sich zwischen den Essen die Gelegenheit zu Spaziergängen im Schloßpark bot.

We wanted something to eat and were told it was too busy and understaffed. So we were offered coffee and cake. After 20 minutes, unfortunately, nothing arrived, so we asked. Our order wasn't taken properly, and we left. Well, what can I say? Unfortunately, that was nothing. The restrooms were pretty dirty, too.

A spontaneous visit and we were not disappointed. Very friendly and attentive service and a really good, very tasty, beautifully presented meal. The wait for the food was very short. We were very satisfied and would gladly return.

If you sit outside you have a beautiful view of the castle and the cascade.

We spontaneously had lunch and were surprised by the quality of the food: the asparagus was freshly prepared, as was the rösti. The salmon was of good quality. The service was very attentive.

Der Spargel war frisch zubereitet! Die Rösti ebenso! Der Lachs war von guter Qualität. Beim Salat handelte es sich um Wildsalat, der gut angemacht war. Wir waren sehr zufrieden. Der Service war sehr zuvorkommend.

The three of us ate at the “Alte Wache” in Ludwigslust and paid 95 euros. Unfortunately, the food was not convincing in every respect. For the veal schnitzel, we were told in advance that only pork was available - this was transparent, but the full price was still charged for the veal schnitzel. In our opinion, this is not justified as it is a lower quality meat. We also ordered two vegetarian dishes that, according to the menu, were supposed to contain parsnip chips - but these were completely missing, here without any mention or discount. The service was fine, but given these points the overall impression remains rather disappointing. Unfortunately, price and performance are not in the right relationship here.

We had a spontaneous meal with 5 people. We only received the greeting from the kitchen when we asked (although only 4 slices for 5 people) we were simply forgotten and apologized. The roast beef, children's nuggets (with cornflake breading, even looked homemade) and spiced meat (poultry, homemade) were really good, but way too overpriced. The service also left something to be desired! The cleanliness could also be better. There will be no further visits for us.

The cake was very tasty. Unfortunately, the intentionally higher price level of the food does not match the cleanliness of the location. When I see the floors & cleanliness in the restaurant area & toilets, things can't look better in the kitchen. We won't be going there anymore because of this.

Instead of a greeting, the question: "Would you like something to eat? Or just drinks?" You actually should have left. We then decided on a coffee, which we were allowed to order after 15 minutes. So if you wait 30 minutes for 3 coffees and then get the bill instead of the coffee, you can't actually award any points for service. I feel sorry for all the summer guests because there were more staff than guests.

Nach telefonischer Nachfrage, mussten wir 1 Stunde auf unser Essen warten. Speisekarte sehr übersichtlich, Schnitzel war zwar gut, aber leider wurden die Pilze mit der Rahmsoße darüber gegeben, so das die Panade matschig war. Das Lokal ist leider sehr vernachlässigt worden, Kabel hängen offen herum, Zu viele Tische im Raum, ungemütliche Bestuhlung, hier kann man nicht mit guten Sachen Platz nehmen- Gefahr von zerreißen der Kleidung, Tischdecke fleckig. Kellnerin sehr freundlich, aber Bedienung in Freizeitklamotten ( Leggings und Sneaker) Es soll hier ein gehobenes Ambiente sein, da passt so etwas nicht Preis-Leistung passt nicht.

We were invited to a birthday brunch on a Sunday in January 2025. We were full of expectations! The birthday child had ordered a buffet of starters, main course and dessert and a cake buffet. In summary, one can only speak of a disappointment on the part of the restaurant. The overall atmosphere was not clean, the staff tried hard but were overwhelmed and the food served was definitely not recommended! The dip for the starters had no taste, the fish platter was ok! The starter soup was too salty. The dishes were only lukewarm :-(, the smoked pork was not cooked and therefore tough! The dessert was ok. Unfortunately, the espresso we ordered was already cold when it was served... With coffee there was cake that hadn't even thawed (obviously frozen goods)! Restaurant is not recommended! Too bad for the birthday child!

In January 2025 I was a guest at a birthday party for brunch at the Alte Wache. The meal was very disappointing from start to finish. The dishes were all lukewarm, the soup was oversalted and the taste seemed more like a finished product. The fries had only seen the deep fryer briefly. The cake that everyone was looking forward to was frozen, unfortunately not even well thawed. The service was poor, used dishes were cleared away late or piled up on the table. What struck me as particularly negative was the cleanliness of the entire restaurant, including the toilet. Very unfortunate. Before the change in ownership, I enjoyed coming here to eat. After what I've experienced now, that's over.

The cakes and tarts are really delicious. However, there is still room for improvement in terms of service and ambience. The table candle was not lit by the service, and the cutlery, glasses and dinnerware did not match - all different models and manufacturers. In addition, some of the cutlery on the table was not clean.

After a few years we came back here and couldn't believe our eyes. The rooms are dingy, the floors need to be scrubbed, it's not just patina on old tiles. On the way to the toilets, the stairs are dirty, as are the window sills and lamps, all the doors need cleaning sometimes. The food was so-so, the price was not justified. It's a shame, we remember it completely differently.

Die Scholle und auch das Schnitzel waren total verbrannt. Dafür waren die Bratkartoffeln sehr blass. Einmal und nie wieder.

Still absolutely recommended!!! This evening we were back in the Alte Wache restaurant for the first time since the change of ownership at the beginning of 2024 and - as before - we were thrilled. Very friendly service, top-notch cuisine and all at fair prices. We had the wild herb salad and garden salad with prawns as a starter, veal schnitzel and cod as the main course and chocolate cake and panna cotta as the final course. We were thrilled with all the courses and would love to come back!!! P.S. The phone number listed on Google is current, the website no longer appears to exist.

A place you could hardly wish for better. Of course the ambience is special in such a historic place. We had made a reservation and found a table set when we arrived. A feeling of coming home, of being expected. Unique. Uncooled water was brought from the basement especially for us. The food was very tasty. When asked if everything was tasty, I said I missed the orange in the sauce. We then asked questions in the kitchen and explained to us why this impression arose. We welcome all suggestions and thank you. I have never experienced such great interaction. We will definitely come back! Greetings and thanks to the entire team.

We went to the restaurant/café for lunch a week ago on Sunday. The waiting time for the service added up to the point where I had to buy another parking ticket. The staff makes a rather listless impression. The much-praised veal schnitzel turned out to be a flop. The roasted potatoes were more reminiscent of cubes of jacket potatoes with raw onion pieces on top. The schnitzel also had a rather neutral taste and was sometimes tough. There was no opportunity to add more seasoning due to a lack of spices on the table. There was also no question as to whether you would like another drink or whether everything was okay. Even the obligatory question “was everything okay” was not asked when paying. Another drawback is the lack of cleanliness. The dirty chandeliers and wall lamps were particularly noticeable on the way to the toilets on the first floor. Finally, I would like to point out that the restaurant and beer garden were occupied by a maximum of 20 guests at this time. The many glowing reviews give rise to the suspicion that they are not genuine.

The food is outstanding, the staff is very friendly and competent. The place is very nice and the atmosphere is very cozy. Fine dining at its finest. The manager is a very talented sommelier, a master of his craft. As artists we were treated and looked after extremely well during the performance. A cozy guest garden and creative dishes mixed with traditional classics round off the experience at the Alte Wache. Always worth a visit!

Went there on a Friday at 4 p.m. After we tried to register inside, we went out to the table and waited a while until we thirstily moved on to the next place due to the lack of service. It's a shame, despite the nice atmosphere.

Poor value for money! The food was clearly too expensive despite the manageable quality. In addition, the waiting time for the food was quite long. The ambience is nice, which is what made us want to come back after a visit a few years ago. However, this will be our last visit.

Das Lokal liegt wunderschön am Schlossgarten in Ludwigslust. Wir wurden nett und zuvorkommend bedient, allerdings würden wir uns wünschen, dass die Atmosphäre im Biergarten schöner wäre, das Grüne auf dem Dach und die vielen Spinnweben stören schon etwas.

I had reserved a table by phone for Tuesday for five people on the occasion of a birthday. We stood in front of closed doors, without any information. There was just a note on the door saying they would be back tomorrow (Wednesday - rest day). We were very disappointed and had to spontaneously find an alternative. Of course I didn't reach anyone the next day. I would have liked to clarify this in person... I have to let the whole thing sink in first. We otherwise enjoyed being there.

Was immer es war: Fachkräftemangel, Überforderung oder einfach verpeilt…. Vier Personen am Freitag Abend um 19:30 Uhr ohne Reservierung ging jedenfalls nicht. Freie Tische waren nicht das Problem, es tat der jungen Frau am Empfang auch sehr leid, aber ihre Panik angesichts von vier weiteren Gästen sprach Bände. Ob es gut gewesen wäre, haben wir also nicht erfahren…

We left the motorway on a spur of the moment because the children were complaining about being hungry. It was really nice. Great ambience, great service and really tasty and fresh food. Even stretching your legs for a moment is great. We recommend. We were thrilled.

We were there this afternoon with 4 adults and a toddler and wanted to eat a piece of cake and drink a cup of coffee. The rooms and location are beautiful and the fresh bouquets of flowers on every table were really nice. Unfortunately, the visit got off to a relatively bumpy start and the placement was quite taciturn and the question of where you could leave the stroller was answered very curtly. Basically we had the impression that we weren't wanted. Unfortunately, the tablecloth at our table was very stained and also had holes in it, which was just a shame given the atmosphere. The one place setting that was on the table was not cleared away when the cards were brought. Then unfortunately the biggest setback came: after we read on the menu that we should ask about the cake offer, we were then told that there were only desserts, no cakes. Pretty disappointing for a designated coffee house on a Saturday afternoon. We then left, again without saying goodbye. It's a shame, the menu should be revised here and the service perhaps needs further training in terms of friendliness and customer service.

A successful evening. We ate great. The food was fresh, the meat was tender and prepared with love. We were served courteously. Wine and beer were very tasty. Fresh flowers on the tables. We had reserved in advance and the table was already set. A great feeling of being expected. I can only recommend this restaurant even after the owner changed.

dieses Kaffee ist sehr zu empfehlen. Geeignet für Familienfeiern oder ähnliches. Bis jetzt gab es nichts zu beanstanden, Essen sehr schmackhaft, Bedienung exzellent. Ein Ort an dem man gern verweilt.

Wir waren in Familie mit 20 Personen, davon 4 Kinder, anlässlich des 64. Hochzeitstages meiner Eltern zum Abendessen angemeldet. Wir hatten oben den separaten Raum für uns allein. Das war schon mal super. Service, Ambiente und vor allem das Essen, einfach super!! Desserts sehr gut angerichtet. Kann man einfach empfehlen. Aber, ich beneide nicht das Servicepersonal. Trepp auf Trepp ab. Ich weiß was sie leisten, ich arbeite selbst in diesem Bereich. Dankeschön für alles.

Wir kamen auf Empfehlung und wurden sehr gut bewirtet. Mein Mann bekam auf Nachfrage eine sehr köstliches veganes Gericht, das sichtbar mit Leidenschaft und Können zubereitet wurde. Wir anderen 3 haben ein Fleischgericht gegessen, welches ebenso vorzüglich wie ausreichend war. Es gibt volle Punktzahl und ein großes Lob.

Das Essen war vorzüglich. Ein Dankeschön an die gute Küche. Spaziergang danach im Schlosspark.,das war ein Besuch wert.

Ich bin schon des öfteren in diesem Lokal gewesen und zwar zum Treffen mit mehreren Personen. Dafür gibt es im OG einen rustikalen großen Raum. Man wird dort von der Bedienung sehr nett und aufmerksam bedient. Die Torten und Kuchen sind sehr lecker und Kaffee bekommt man in Thermoskanne zum Kaffee satt. Das Essen wird rechtzeitig als Bestellung aufgenommen und dann für alle gemeinsam serviert. Bei Essen für 9 Personen a la Cart fand ich das prima. Das Restaurant hat im Sommer auch einen schönen Garten, in dem man sehr gemütlich sitzen kann. Das Ludwigsluster Schloss und der hübsche Bassin mit seinem fließendem Wasser ist direkt neben dem Restaurant, gehörte die Wache doch früher zum Schloss und dem angrenzenden sehr schönen Schlossgarten mit seinen 24 Wassersprüngen und Teichen.

Immer wieder sehr leckeres Essen. Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Gern Immer wieder.

Essen ist super aber die Toiletten und ringsum sehr schmutzig

Wir kamen an einem Mittwoch mit Reservierung in das gemütliche, kleine aber feine Restaurant, welches ein rundum interessantes Ambiente aufweist. Allerdings ist die Toilette nur über eine Treppe erreichbar. Was für Menschen mit Gehbehinderung umständlich ist. Der große Außenbereich war wegen schlechten Wetters geschlossen. Ganz oben im Haus gibt es ebenfalls noch einen Raum, wo sich Gäste aufhalten. Die Speisen waren sehr lecker, jedoch ist es hier von Vorteil, wenn der Hunger nicht allzugroß ist. Denn es wurden kleine Portionen, die wunderschön gestaltet sind, herausgegeben. Auf Nachfrage, ob es immer so lange dauert ( 17.30Uhr - 19.45Uhr bei 2 in der Küche plus 2 Bedienung bei ca. 20 - 25? Gästen) erhielt ich eine plausible Antwort - die sonstige Küchenchefin war im Urlaub. Alles in allem würde ich dort wieder essen gehen. Denn für das Auge und den kulinarischen Geschmack hat es mich gefreut dort gewesen zu sein.

Dieses Café & Restaurant verwöhnt seine Gäste mit erstklassigem Service und leckeren Speisen. Wir haben uns durch den Kellner Daniel rundum wohl gefühlt.

Sehr, sehr freundliches Personal. Sehr kinderfreundlich. Sehr gutes und reichlichen Mittagessen. Gute Atmosphäre. War zu meinem 70. in einer Gruppe mit 16 Personen da. Alle waren sehr zufrieden. Auch der Service zur Kaffeezeit war ausgezeichnet. Komme jederzeit wieder.

Coole Location, sehr malerisch direkt am Barock-Schloß, Biergarten romantisch. Obwohl recht wenig los war am Mittwoch Abend, mußten sich die zwei männlichen Service-Kollegen erst an die Anwesenheit zwei weiterer Gästinnen ein Weilchen gewöhnen..... ;-) Aperitif, Getränke und Speisen topp, Preis-Leistung in Ordnung, liebe Grüße aus Bad-Offenbach Rhein-Main.

Nettes kleines Restaurant. Essen war sehr lecker. Das einzige was etwas unangenehm war das sich einige Wespen und Fliegen darin wohl auch sehr wohl gefühlt haben.

keine gehobene Küche, Kneipenqualität! Service: freundlich, aber man fühlt sich unwillkommen. Aufmerksamkeit fehlt. Kommunikation: unsicher und unprofessionell. Ambiente: Biergarten-Flair mit unbequemen Stühlen. Qualität: Kalbsschnitzel mit Bratkartoffeln, das Schnitzel fettig, Fleisch schon tot, die Kartoffeln noch sehr fest fast noch roh, alles in allem recht fade. lediglich die Salatbeilage hatte Würze, war aber zu viel Blattgrün. Königsberger Klopse, wirkte wie eine Sahnesauce, etwas zu sauer, Kartoffeln zu fest. alles in allem sind wir nicht satt geworden und auch nicht glücklich... schade eigentlich, andere Rezessionen hatten uns ein richtig gutes Restaurant erwarten lassen.

Schönes Restaurant mit sehr freundlichem Personal. Nur könnte die Überdachung der Terrasse sowie auch die Terasse selbst öfter einmal gereinigt werden, altes Laub und Blütenreste nehmen etwas die Stimmung.

Awful head of service / chef de rang with no approachability or charme whatsoever. Restaurant virtually empty, rude reception and no intention to accommodate any wishes. We were unhappy sitting in the sun at 30+ Celsius, plenty of vacant tables but no flexibility whatsoever. Owner might consider intervening.

Wir gingen durch das Restaurant und nahmen im Biergarten Platz. Der zuständige „Chefober“ begrüsste uns mit den Worten „wie sind Sie denn hier reingekommen? Sie hätten sich melden müssen!“, was nicht so ganz dem Gedanken der Kundenorientierung entspricht. Es gab eine grössere Gesellschaft, die viel der Kapazität absaugte. Daher der Stress. Danach waren wir sehr zufrieden mit unserem Platz, dem Essen und der freundlichen jungen Dame, die uns bediente.

Wir waren jetzt das 2te mal da essen und wir sind begeistert vom Service und das Essen ist einfach nur lecker und super.

Am 20. Mai 2023 hatten wir unser Klassentreffen in diesem Restaurant. In einem separaten Raum in der oberen Etage haben wir in gemütlicher Atmosphäre gesessen und konnten nach der Karte unser Essen bestellen. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und das Essen wurde allen Anwesenden zügig serviert. Die Auswahl hatten wir vorab bei der Bedienung abgegeben, damit wir gemeinsam das Essen einnehmen konnten. Ich habe sogar noch ein Essen außer Haus mit Rotbarschfilet, Rosmarinkartoffeln und Spargel mitgenommen. Somit konnte ich meinem Mann noch eine Freude bereiten, der allein zu Hause bleiben musste. Das Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Wir werden in diesem Restaurant auch einmal privat mit der Familie einmal einkehren.

Der Kuchen war lecker und abends haben wir alle von der Karte bestellt. Die Bestellung wurde rechtzeitig aufgenommen, sodass das Essen zügig serviert werden konnte. Da ich aus privaten Gründen früher gehen musste, hat man mir auf Wunsch sogar Essen zum Mitnehmen eingepackt.(Rotbarschfilet mit Rosmarinkartoffeln und Spargel)Das Gericht kann man wirklich empfehlen, sehr schmackhaft.

Nette Einkehr am Himmelfahrtstag für einen kleinen Salat. Sehr lecker.
