Restaurant Traube in Bad Hindelang

As someone who hasn't had much contact with the Bavarian people or visited the Allgäu Alps many times, it was a very good experience. So good, in fact, that I can understand why Bavarians are so proud of their traditions and their Free State. The atmosphere was fantastic, the view unbeatable, and the homemade food absolutely delicious. You can taste the love!

The "Traube" is an integral part of every vacation for us – and has been for years! We've never been disappointed. The restaurant offers both a cozy indoor area and a lovely outdoor seating area. The entire team is extremely friendly, attentive, and welcoming – you feel completely welcome. The menu is very varied and offers something for every taste. Since it's no longer an insider tip, we highly recommend reserving a table in advance. We always look forward to our next visit!

The food was very good! There's not much to choose from for vegetarians, but if you're not picky, it's really tasty. For everyone else, this is definitely the place to go. The staff are super friendly and the service is warm. I'd be happy to go back anytime.

Update 2024. Back at the Traube! Why? It's still the cozy restaurant with the best food at fair prices. First-class service in a rustic, cosy atmosphere. 2025, of course, where else? Cozy, traditional Bavarian cuisine, the best, you feel at home. The boss and her kitchen team, Mr. Josef, the good soul of the service, always ensure guests have a pleasant stay.

An institution in the Ostrach Valley. The generational change in management has also benefited the restaurant. They continue to offer excellent Allgäu and southern German classics, some with a special twist. Local produce is a priority. The terrace has been upgraded with a new awning and furniture. You can also sit directly by the stream, if there's room. The interior is quaint and rustic.

Beautiful idyllic location, good food and very friendly service

The restaurant also left us with a mixed impression. The waiter, who was presumably Indian, was so hectic and unfriendly. We had a special request and were simply left sitting with the words "we don't have that" – we've never experienced anything like that before. That was until a young male waitress took care of us in a truly friendly manner. The cook was also very helpful and friendly. My husband's dish was very good; unfortunately, my meat was a tough lump, but that's not the cook's fault, as she certainly can't be held responsible for the quality of the meat. A real shame.

It was important on the phone, but it was loud in the background, which was exhausting. There were six of us at a table for four, and it was pretty cramped. They simply forgot about the drinks. The kids got their food first, and we adults had to wait so long that the first child was already finished. The timing could have been better. The server seemed very hectic and stressed. The meat was delicious, but the sauces and especially the side dishes seemed more like convenience foods. It looks nice there, but I found it a bit uncomfortable and won't go back.

Difficult review – as the restaurant leaves a mixed impression. There were three of us there for dinner without a reservation. The seemingly overwhelmed, hectic staff member assigned us a table and then rushed through our order without really considering our needs (we only wanted a small change to one dish). The drinks were then brought to our table by very friendly staff members and were all very good (ABK Hell, water, and Spezi). The dishes we ordered (Allgäu schnitzel, Madagascan pork fillet, and pancake soup) were really good in terms of the meat, but the sauces were unfortunately rather tasteless. The soup was good. Overall, a mixed evening, as the first impression was somewhat disappointing.

A lovely restaurant in a beautiful location (especially outside by the stream or inside the dining room), which has unfortunately declined in quality and service over the years. We've been coming to the Traube regularly for seven years. Example 1: Changing side dishes is so expensive that no one seems to seriously bother with it anymore. Example 2: They get the main course without a side dish, the side dish arrives seven minutes later, and the meat is only lukewarm. That was much better! Unfortunately, it's no longer as recommendable as it once was. A shame.

We love the grape. Are here relatively often, mainly as a local in the off season. Food is always very, very good. Waiter absolutely nice, friendly guy. We'd love to come. There was just one evening that really took me out recently. We lost a child, about the same age as the small son of the operating family. We came from the grave, the plan was to eat and be quiet for ourselves in our grief. It was very, very difficult for us to be "served" by the small child, not to let anything show, and that he always came to the table and was so present. I actually would have liked more distance. Even if some people can't understand it.

A traditional Bavarian restaurant. I had the mediallions with hash browns. It also tasted good, but for the price you would have expected a slightly larger portion. There were exactly 2 hash browns that were served on a separate plate. A little more hash browns or a small salad would have done the trick. Unfortunately I wasn't completely full. On a next visit I would order something different

The Traube is a wonderful place to enjoy with family and friends. She offers a great selection! The prices are affordable and the staff is also very accommodating. A great feature is that the restaurant also hosts Christmas parties and hires popular bands to create an unforgettable atmosphere. Overall, Traube is a great place where you can have a unique experience.

Very tasty food and very nice service!!! The one star for the service is not for the waitress, who was extremely friendly!!! I find it really borderline to charge 2€ for a robber's plate and I find it really ridiculous to charge 1 euro for a box for leftover food and then say that you don't earn anything from it!!! Just google it and you'll find boxes for 11 cents!!! The robber skewer for €19 is not for grown-up boys. Very tasty but definitely not enough...

Great atmosphere and also very nice staff. As locals, we had reserved and were even able to get to our table earlier :) However, I would NOT recommend the restaurant for vegetarians/vegans... I'm a vegetarian myself and couldn't find anything on the menu except a salad, the rest was all meat... very too bad. Even when asked they didn't have anything except the salad. I then asked if I could have sparrows with sauce because I didn't feel like eating salad and was very hungry. Unfortunately the sauce was made with meat, there were no meat pieces/fibers in it but I tasted it straight away. So the food was a complete disaster :( I then asked the staff why they had almost nothing vegetarian/vegan, the answer was only because they are a traditional business. In my opinion, tradition or not, you should be in a certain way adapt to modern times, even if there are only 5,6,7 vegetarian/vegan dishes. That's why unfortunately only 1 star for the food. The rest was great!

I deducted one star because the schnitzel dishes were all drowned in it if they had sauce. Minus 1⭐ There is no Kaiserschmarn on the menu, as dessert you can only get hot raspberries with vanilla ice cream. The location is very pleasant, a large hall or an inn is available. There is a small stage where local artists could perform. A hotel also appears to be connected to it. The online presence is poor, no menu, difficult to reach by phone or the ladies and gentlemen who answer the phone have difficulty understanding you. Online reservation not possible for a table. Minus 1 ⭐ The staff is very nice and dogs are allowed. Be careful of the head waiter, seems to have respect for medium-sized dogs, which is completely okay, as you don't have to love dogs or you've had bad experiences here. The food itself, German cuisine with a Bavarian touch. The broths were convincing and warmed up the body in the current rain situation. Unfortunately, the Allgäuerschnitzel was so flattened that you could hardly taste the meat. The other schnitzels were good. The cheese spaetzle were very tasty. Attention, if you want to change your side dish you can do so, but it costs extra. But that's what it says on the card. I can recommend the dark beer on tap. Unfortunately we had to wait an hour for the main course.

We ate in the great room. The old part, the old 'gasthaus' part, is more pleasant. The food was fine, it's a shame there was no salad. Friendly service.

Food was generally good and plentiful. However, the fact that only €1.50 was deducted from the full price (€18.80) for half a portion of spinach dumplings (= 1 dumpling) with mushroom sauce was very inappropriate. Paid €17.30 for a dumpling with a bit of mushroom sauce. Thank you too ☹️

Now the classic of Bad Hindelang's gastronomy. The food is extremely tasty and the price is absolutely realistic. Special delicacies complete the varied menu. The service team around Youssef has received a valuable addition and is therefore more attentive and courteous than was the case in the past. The only points of criticism are the loveless desert selection (only ice cream) and the somewhat worn-out interior of the restaurant and the outdoor terrace. There is a bit of catching up to do here. Nevertheless: If you want to experience an authentic Allgäu evening, the Traube is the right place for you.

After being back in Bad Hindelang for many years, I enjoyed visiting “Die Traube” again and having a delicious meal. Price-performance ratio was still right👍The service was friendly and very good! If our stay here in Hindelang were longer, I would have liked to come back!

An original and well-attended inn with flair. Dishes on the menu are rustic and home-style. Service top attentive, friendly and tried hard. Seems to be popular, even the regulars' table with locals still exists, which is not a given today. You have to strengthen such inns and be grateful that they still exist... Great service and delicious food. My celiac disease was also taken into account very well and the chef explained to me what she could prepare for me that was gluten-free outside of the menu and contamination was also pointed out and taken into account. Went there twice in a week because it's a traditional, incredibly cozy Bavarian restaurant. The food was super tasty, down-to-earth and regional dishes. Kellner war sehr freundlich. Essen war super lecker und die Portionen waren riesig. Einen Stern Abzug gibt es für das Parken was an Wochenende mal schwieriger sein könnte. Leider muss ich auch einen Stern beim Essen anziehen, da der Salat nicht richtig gewaschen war. Hier war noch Sand oder Erde zwischen den Salatblättern. Sonst war es rundum aber ein sehr angenehmer Besuch.

Ich besuchte kürzlich das Restaurant Traube und es war einzigartig. Die Tischdekoration war mit viel Liebe selbstgemacht. aber leider zu teuer. Es gibt viele Parkplätze und eine gute Anbindung an öffentliche Verkehrsmittel. Von dort aus hat man eine wunderschöne Aussicht auf die Berge. Ein Spaziergang dorthin lohnt sich immer. Alles in allem war es eine sehr schöne Erfahrung und ich kann es wärmstens empfehlen. Die Spätzle vom Fritz lieben die Kinder.
