Simple and adorable - Adorably simple. I think that's exactly how you can describe the Chinese restaurant located at Steindamm 4 and which is almost certainly underestimated. I often find myself actually enjoying going there not only because of the good location, but also because of what I think is a good price/performance ratio when it comes to lunch... so that's definitely a pleasure. No failures up and/or down, an honest meal that is solidly made. I really enjoy coming back.

Absolutely authentic Chinese food! Insane taste explosions. Service very nice. Typically Chinese rooms are rather unspectacular.

Dishes like millennial eggs or homemade duck and glutinous rice balls are on the menu here and have one thing in common, they are incredibly fresh and delicious. The family that runs this restaurant is warm and the service is always friendly and quick. The atmosphere in the store is pleasant and allows us to relax with calm music and good food. The food tastes great, at least among the best in burgers The environment is very quiet, there are not many people, and the overall decoration gives people a comfortable feeling The lady boss is actually a very kind person, she always has a smile and she has been like this many times. But the young male waiter seemed deliberate and rigid, and his conversations with customers sounded stressful and awkward. I didn't think he was a good waiter. When you search for reviews of this restaurant, it often fails in terms of service. I have eaten here many times, but the service is what it is. What's the use of doing it a thousand times or ten thousand times? If you can't maintain the same service attitude as always, the regular customers will not Again.

Impossible shop! We, two women, wanted something to drink so that we didn't have to wait 2 hours for our train at 9 p.m. at the main station. When we asked if we could just order drinks, we were told "No, that wouldn't work." The store would close soon anyway. The store was still busy at 9 p.m. According to the website, the restaurant would have been open until 10 p.m.

Nice little restaurant at Hamburg main station. From the outside you can probably see. It doesn't matter how good the food is there - but don't let that fool you, it's worth a visit! Best food I've had, so much flavor and texture!

There were several of us and we shared various main dishes, vegetarian, beef, duck, etc. We were given very detailed and friendly advice. There is a German and a Chinese map, we could also choose from the Chinese one. The vegetarian dishes in particular were very tasty, everything was freshly prepared. We would come back :)

This seemingly inconspicuous restaurant at first glance (we walked past it so many times ourselves) is a pearl among the Chinese restaurants in Hamburg. The menu contains the largest and most diverse selection of authentic Chinese dishes (mostly from Sichuan province) that I know of in Hamburg. It tastes exactly as I remember it from my stays in China. I also see the high number of Asian guests as an indicator of the authentic and delicious cuisine that is served there. The service leaves nothing to be desired. You can order in three languages: German, English and Chinese. So there is no reason to be afraid of language barriers and misunderstandings. Questions about the menu are answered very happily and in a well-founded manner. In general, communication with the restaurant is excellent. We recently had dinner there with a large group. The reservation and the previous menu coordination went smoothly and special requests (food intolerances) were also taken into account. We'll definitely come back more often.

Eat at a Chinese restaurant with typical Chinese and not eat so standard

We went to a cafe before the train, ordered food and drinks. The waiter in a rude form said that we have to order more than we ordered. Allegedly, "we occupy places that could be taken by someone else". As you can see on the foto it was empty. This is absolutely disrespectful to customers. Such bad service that there are no words. I absolutely recommend to escape this place. Due to the fact that I cannot answer your comment, I will add here this photo was taken in the summer of 2023, when we came to Hamburg with my family, we came to your restaurant and heard what I described above. Google deleted the review that I wrote while sitting in your Café (this is not a Restaurant, as you see on photo), but today I restored this review. If you think that the photo is stolen, report it to the police and we will quickly resolve this issue, since the photo was taken on my phone. You did not answer anything about the behavior of the male owner or employee. However, with such service this is not surprising.

Als Hamburger haben wir gestern diesem super zentral gelegenen Restaurant endlich Mal einen Besuch abgestattet. Unsere Auswahl der Gerichte aus der authentischen Karte war ein Volltreffer. Wir kommen gerne wieder, hier gibt es noch viel auszuprobieren. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam und freundlich, auch hier: Daumen hoch.

Went to eat alone and ordered a fish-flavored shredded pork and a rice dish. The fish-flavored shredded pork is well seasoned, with a slightly more sour taste and strong bean paste flavor. Excellent Chinese food: best Chinese at the main station.

The braised beef noodle soup is very rich and flavorful. The beef is half tendon and half meat, and the tendon part melts in your mouth, which is great! It's a pity that the noodles are a bit soft and the amount of soup is too small (based on my experience of eating more than 500 bowls of beef noodles in Taiwan) I was halfway through the soup portion and the noodles had sucked it down until there was not much left. In order to prevent such a delicious soup from being sucked up by the noodles, I seemed to be competing with the noodles to see who could drink/suck the most XD However, overall I still give it 5 stars. If you don’t like the noodles being too soft, remember to ask if the kitchen can adjust it. I recommend it to people who want to miss the taste of hometown.

One of my favorite restaurants. I’ve been eating there for years now and I’ve never had a bad experience. I’m not so sure they understand me every time but I’ve mostly received what I ordered and it’s a great place to try many different dishes and have a pleasant talk with your friends or fiancé :) I can highly recommend their Jiaozi, Mabodofu and Double fried pork :)

The authentic Szechuan cuisine is fantastic. The prerequisite for this is that you find the authentic menu attached to the tourist map and use it to order ;)

Vi var et vennepar på fire. Hadde ikke bestilt bord på forhånd, men ble tatt godt i mot. Restauranten virket ren både på bordene og på toalettet. Vi bestilte en samlet meny tilpasset fire personer. Som vanlig på kinesiske restauranter kom mat og drikke svært raskt på bordet. Åpnet med en suppe som var litt i sterkeste laget uten at vi ble gjort oppmerksom på det. De øvrige rettene var gode og det var mer enn nok mat til oss alle. Restauranten anbefales.

Exceptional, delicious food (especially on the last pages of the menu), warm people and no bad wines. With starter and main course you are 110% full. Loved it and would love to come back.

The food is authentic, tasty and well prepared and customer is dealt with in a timely and friendly manner. The menu is extensive and features more basic options as well as more traditional szechuan dishes. However, in comparison to other traditional szechuan restaurants the portions are a little smaller and the prices somewhat higher. I imagine the high prices are related to the location right next to the central station.

The food was tasty & enough portion. The veggies were fresh. We ordered Gong Bao Chicken, Pak Choi with Shitake, Bami & Crispy Chicken - all were great. Clean enough too.

The shop is clean. The waiter is very nice and friendly, speaks English and German perfectly. The food tastes very, very good and authentic. We had braised ribs with radish, braised pork belly with dried bamboos and stir fry water spinach with garlic/ rib stew with radish, pork cheek with dried bamboos and stir fry water spinach with garlic. Incredibly good. The pork belly dish tastes exactly like my grandma's, that's amazing... So nostalgic😭😭😭 thank you for the great dishes we will come back❤️❤️

We were told we can pay with card so we decide to eat in here. The food was okay but I believe the price is a bit expensive. When we are about to pay the bill. They said they only accept Germany card instead of my Uk credit card. The bill was €60.90 and I asked if I could get €60 cos i didn’t want to get any spare change. The their attitude was pretty bad and even want to ask me pay €70 including tips. How could I pay any tips if their attitude is so bad? Welcome to UK one day and you will find they will always have 10% discount if you pay by cash, because paying cash can avoid tax (this is what you do as well as I know any decent restaurant will accept visa/master card). I don't expect a 10% discount from you, just a 0.9 euro off. If you cannot accept, it is fine but your attitude is terrible.

Very good selection of well-known dishes of decent quality. At the back of the menu are the more authentic Szechuan dishes. A courteous service that can provide interesting insights into the country and food and has good recommendations. The pricing is perfectly fine.

I've been enjoying coming here to eat since the end of 2017, it was recommended to me by a colleague who comes from the region, please always ask for the Chinese menu and let yourself be enchanted. The only drawback so far is that I've always wanted to try the duck tongues, unfortunately I haven't been able to try them once, but I'm sticking with it :D I'll get them at some point. Gong Bao chicken always works too

For me the best Chinese in Hamburg. The Shudu restaurant is located in the immediate vicinity of Hamburg Central Station. Every time I am at Shudu you are greeted in a friendly manner. If you have any questions or requests, you are helped and responded to immediately. The food is super tasty and really authentic Chinese. My favorite dishes are jiaozi with chili oil, dim sum pork, dim sum shrimp, 10 fried dumplings, gong bao chicken, fish slices with tofu, pak choi, mapo tofu, crispy chili tofu and baked sweet and sour pork fillet. It's so delicious that I regularly go to Shudu with my work colleagues, friends and family. My conclusion: If you love Chinese cuisine and want to eat really authentic Chinese, Shudu is the right place for you. Shudu is also suitable for people who don't know Chinese cuisine that well, as there are also dishes that are more "European", but it's really worth trying the authentic cuisine. I'm already looking forward to the next visit.

Great authentic Szechuan food. The people that run the place are very nice and the food is cooked with care. Not your average Chinese restaurant. Worth a visit. The Dan Dan Noodles were great, as well as the Kung Pao chicken and the fried frogs legs were delicious. The food is a bit spicy and not overly sweet. Thank you!

This restaurant is not open mind to any negative opinion even like the food tastes salty. Any minor bad comments could lead to a 5-minutes argue from an elderly lady. We are so regret not reading the reviews on google before our meal. The owner/staff just thought this is a perfect and can't tolerant any bad review. They even make fun of costumer's name and language here in the feedback, more than once. I really do not recommend this place. Please do not write back and I don't want to get any further anger.

It's really a disaster at all from taste, environment to service. Their understanding of Chinese food is still struggling on the line of survival. The ingredients were so stale that they needed to be over-seasoned to cover it up, but it wasn't seasoned well. The environment really ruins this position. Even basic hygiene cannot be done well. Again, their understanding of the Chinese restaurant environment is still before liberation. Very picky style. This is the only restaurant that only accepts cash. There must be a tax evasion. I really regret walking into this store and will dissuade everyone who comes to/lives in Hamburg to pay attention to avoid.

I think almost €18 for a normal dish WITHOUT a side dish (e.g. rice) is MUCH too expensive for the small portion and the rather bland taste. Given the price, I think you can expect that the rice, which is usually included with the dish, is included and doesn't cost €2 extra. Unfortunately it was way too expensive and a note on the menu or from the waitress would have been nice, as this is VERY unusual and I only mentioned the number of the dish when ordering. Answer: I ordered the 93 (I think). But no rice, as I assumed that was included in the price, like in all other places (you don't want to just eat meat and sauce). I was still brought rice. Later, when paying, there was a nasty surprise. I don't think that's okay. You feel tricked and the fun of going out to eat disappears. You should have let us know in advance or asked if you wanted rice with it, which costs extra (don't just bring it and charge extra). The portion was very small (for ultimately €20). Maybe the VAT wasn't increased to 19%, but the rice was excluded? This wasn't the case a few months ago, at least we weren't charged extra for the rice. A pity. Reply to your answer: Beef Chop Suey. And no, I was NOT asked if I would like anything about it. That's what it's all about. I was simply brought rice and asked to pay extra for it, even though I didn't have to pay for it since I didn't order it. I ate it because I got it and therefore assumed it was included (because it is like that everywhere and the price is high). So it is NOT okay to charge for this. You can't compare certain fast food chains because you can't even call what they sell "food". I'm happy to pay €20 for a dish if it tastes good, it fills me up, I'm offered quality AND I'm honestly informed about the prices. Long story short: It's about the action with the rice, we don't need to argue about anything else. In response to your answer: I don't make up tall tales to suggest dubious intentions. I'm just reporting what it was like. I would have liked to have had a great visit with you so that I didn't have to write this review. Your denying this is not customer focused or professional. And no, McDonald's food is not food because it doesn't get moldy even after years. Our favorite place in town! Shudu is the perfect place to go with a big group and to eat in the traditional Chinese/Asian style by sharing dishes. That way, you get a little taste of everything! The me u is divided into two sections, “Westernized” and Szechuan options. Both are delicious. The waiter speaks many languages and always provides great service by explaining the dishes in detail. The traditional Szechuan spice, a mild red pepper, is not a hot flavor, but it leaves a tingle in your mouth and is pleasantly spicy. I recommend trying it at least once!

I ordered a beef noodle soup and wang tan's with a spicy sauce. Everything was very tasty and authentically Chinese. The food came very quickly. Service was nice. For a change, no Cantonese cuisine. You won't find spicy food on the menu either. But if you like spicy food, you'll get your money's worth.

Authentic Sichuan cuisine. The last time I was here was 15 year ago, it was fantastic, and they had a special Chinese menu (not europeanized food). Tonight, I am back again, visiting Hamburg and I am still as impressed. Really delicious food! This is still the best Chinese restaurant in Germnay that I know… such a pity I live so far south of Germany.

DAS ist, was ich gewünscht habe❤️. 우육탕면 마지막 한입까지 맛있음. 국물은 약간 마라 국물 베이스? Sehr scharf로 해달라고 부탁드리면 주방에서 더맵게도 해주신댔음. 맵찔이는 기본으로 먹었는데 나름 혀가 얼얼하고 콧물이 났어요. 고기는 완전 야들야들 부드럽고 면발도 마지막까지 안퍼지고 맛있음. 면 식감이 뭔가 특이한데 직접 뽑으신건가..? 암튼 안끊어지면서도 뭔가 찰지게 늘어나는 느낌. 국물도 너무 맛있음... 청경채를 좀 더 넣어주셨으면 하는 아주 사소한 아쉬움이 있음. 식당 외부가 너무 허름해서 위생 걱정에 들어갈생각도 안했었는데 걱정이 무색하게 내부는 깨끗함! 우육탕면은 메뉴판속 빨간박스의 1번입니다...

Ein Geheimtipp. Der hintere Teil der Speisekarte ist sehr zu empfehlen. Authentische Sichuanküche, kein europäisiertes Essen. Sehr lecker. Das Lokal wirkt in einigen Details etwas improvisiert, unorganisiert, NICHT dreckig. Kein Drama, aber auffällig. Unterm Strich hat sich der Besuch gelohnt. Gerne wieder.

Schlechteste Erfahrung! Das Kind erhielt eine kräftige Züchtigung, als es einen Schluck des mitgebrachten Mineralwassers nahm, weil das Essen zu scharf war. Essensportion war auch sehr klein und das Essen war nicht frisch.

Next to Hamburg Train Station. The food is south western china cuisine. Wide selection. Really good food. The place is not busy on Fri lunch. The owner speaks good chinese.

Ein originales chinesisches Restaurant. Hier kann jeder chinesisch sprechen. Der Reis ist top, die Karte vielfältig und man kann in einer Gruppe wirklich gut zusammen hier essen. Einziger Kritikpunkt sind die Toiletten.

Wir waren schon öfter als Paar oder mit der Familie in diesem Restaurant essen. Man sollte hier unbedingt aus der chinesischen Karte bestellen; dann bekommt man nicht nur das an den deutschen Gaumen angepasste Essen, sondern echt authentische und sehr leckere (z.T. auch sehr scharfe) chinesische Speisen. Der Service ist immer sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend und die Küche ist sehr fix. Eventuell könnte es etwas gemütlicher sein, aber darüber können wir auf Grund des restlichen Erlebnisse gut hinwegsehen. Trotz der direkten Nähe zum Hauptbahnhof ist es hier immer erstaunlich ruhig.

Ich hatte kürzlich das Vergnügen, dieses Restaurant in der Innenstadt zu besuchen, und ich war rundum begeistert. Das Essen war nicht nur außerordentlich lecker und authentisch, sondern auch der Kellner erwies sich als äußerst aufmerksam und nahm sich Zeit, um die Gerichte ausführlich zu erklären. Die Preise bewegen sich im mittleren Spektrum, doch sie sind absolut gerechtfertigt angesichts des guten Geschmacks und der Portionen. Eine zu empfehlende Wahl, wenn man in der Innenstadt ist und Sichuan-Küche genießen möchte. (Hierfür die Gerichte der zweiten Hälfte der Speisekarte auswählen).

Es schmeckt da übertrieben lecker. Und wenn Chinesen beim Chinesen essen gehen, ist das bestimmt ein gutes Zeichen

Super authentisches Restaurant mit sehr lieben Mitarbeitern! Haben uns total wohl gefühlt und der, der uns bedient hat war total freundlich! Das Essen war auch sehr lecker und die Pork dumplings kann ich sehr empfehlen! Die Beef Noodle soup war auch sehr lecker, jedoch bei der scharfen soße aufpassen, weil das Aroma stark ist.

Zügige Plätze bekommen und die Speisekarten erhalten, Bedienungen äußerst freundlich und zuvorkommend, essen kam zügig und hat unsere Erwartungen nach chinesischem flavour getroffen. Vom Preis müsste ich eigendlich einen Stern weniger geben, aber da ja alles teuer wird belasse ich das so außerdem sind wir alle satt geworden. Fazit: wir kommen wieder und wieder.

Good Chinese cuisine and caring staff.

Leider nicht empfehlenswert. Fleisch zulange oder zuviel mit Speisestärke mariniert. Fleisch ist kein Fleisch sondern eher Brei. Soßen gibt es hier kaum. Rindfleisch mit Zwiebel und Rindfleisch Chop-Suey ist genau das gleiche, bis auf das Gemüse. Es ist buchstäblich Rindfleisch + Gemüse. Sonst nichts, keine Sauce, nur das ÖL in dem es gebraten/frittiert wurde. Keinerlei Geschmacksunterschied. Kein Wunder dass das Essen in 8 Minuten fertig war. Kriegt man Zuhause besser hin. Vorallem bei den völlig überzogenen Preisen.

Original Szechuan Küche in einem einfachen, sauberen Ambiente. Im hinteren Teil der Speisekarte sind die Original Gerichte zu finden, vorne die Europäiisierten. Die Schweinebauchgerichte sind sind wie vieles anderes sehr zu empfehlen. Wer gern starke Aromen und Schärfe mag, ist hier gold richtig. Sehr netter, aufmerksamer Service.
