Restaurant Schroeder’s Wacht am Rhein in Remagen

This restaurant has been "our" restaurant for years: we've spent many wonderful hours here and shared many happy memories: our first date, our civil wedding, celebrating our children's milestones, or simply enjoying lovely evenings together. Yesterday, we held our annual family celebration there with 18 people from all over Germany, enjoying the beautiful view of the Rhine... and as always, we were pampered and looked after. Every member of our family was delighted with the ambiance, the food, and especially the staff. It's a very special place for us, one that holds many memories and simply impresses with its wonderful atmosphere, the high-quality and varied dishes, and above all, its professional and caring staff. The prices are still too low for what you get... anyone who doesn't appreciate that would probably be better off in the local pub. Thank you so much, dear Schroeder's team!

All in all, very delicious and satisfying. The view is priceless.

We were there yesterday, December 31, 2025 (New Year's Eve). They offered a Balkan cold cuts platter, vegetarian options, and a delicious dessert. Unfortunately, the portions are very small, but they are delicious, which is a shame considering the high price. But it must be lovely in the summer.

We went there for tapas on a Saturday evening. The food was freshly prepared and very tasty. Depending on the order, the tapas can be a bit pricey, but overall it was worth the money. Service was very quick at first, but understandably, it took a little longer as the place filled up. The service was very fast and they always noticed when we wanted to order more. Despite the restaurant being quite busy, it was still easy to have a conversation.

We stopped here for lunch more by chance. Great view and attentive waiter. We had delicious vegetarian tapas. We highly recommend Schroeders.

During a hike above Remagen, we reserved a table for dinner at 6:00 p.m. at the Schroeder's Wacht restaurant. When we arrived on time, it was already quite full. The dining room is manageable in size, cleverly filled with plenty of tables, but in such a way that no one feels crowded. For the warmer months, there are still seats available directly on the Rhine and on the roof terrace. The service was very pleasant and fast. The menu was varied. The quality of the food was good. The prices were reasonable for today's times. We enjoyed our stay and would gladly return again.

2nd visit - this time on the terrace...small dishes with meat, fish, etc....are well-presented and delicious. Beautiful location (view) of the Rhine, including a lovely terrace. Plenty of tapas (salmon avocado tartar) and delicious main courses (fish variations). Good service.

In summer, we love sitting on the roof terrace. The food is authentic and delicious. The service is witty and engaging.

We stumbled upon Schröders by chance. The ambiance and view were lovely. Service was very attentive and friendly. The kitchen still had room for improvement, as did the price-performance ratio. Unfortunately, the antipasti wasn't fresh, and the dip wasn't fresh. The truffle mayonnaise wasn't homemade. The fries were good, but lacked any crispiness. The seasoning of the fries could definitely be done more creatively. What's unacceptable is serving baguette that hasn't been oven-baked. It's a shame, but we hope these suggestions are well-received.

We had a company event at Restaurant Schröders today and were very satisfied. The service, the food, and the ambiance are truly recommendable. We'd love to come back and highly recommend this cozy restaurant right on the Rhine promenade. 👍🏻

Great location on the Rhine, mostly good food. (We've been there several times and had varying degrees of enthusiasm 🤭) Only the service staff is sometimes a bit overwhelmed/or seems a bit underqualified, given the ambiance.

Very tasty food. We had zander fillet and penne (slightly spicy). The service was very friendly. They asked twice if everything was okay. We'll be back. We were there around 1 p.m. on a Wednesday.

Unfortunately, a total disappointment. Despite the great location, the food was nothing short of amazing. The salmon burger came with what felt like a 50g piece, ONE slice of tomato, lettuce, and onion (we actually canceled the latter, but that can get lost), and they also skimped on the sauce. Some of the fries weren't quite cooked. They served it with ketchup and mayo – a great idea – but definitely not homemade, but from a well-known brand. All in all, it was still edible, unlike the "tapas." Three (!) dates with non-crispy bacon is pretty darn daring for the price. The "mini burger" also lives up to its name and should be described more as a meatball with bread. But frozen (!) calamari that wasn't cooked either? With a light, dry, baked baguette? It's a real shame for the location. We hope for improvements, then you'd be beating people down. 🍀

The food is delicious, but doesn't match the price. It's tasty, but it's far from fine dining. The view is well-regarded. The service is friendly and attentive. The ambiance in the restaurant is OK. I'll definitely go back on a sunnier day and try the outdoor terrace.

The restaurant is located directly on the Rhine promenade and next to the Bonn passenger shipping pier. We had reserved a table down by the promenade, but were kindly allowed to sit on the roof terrace. We found it nicer and quieter. The service is very friendly and accommodates special requests. The cuisine is international and some Croatian. The food is good and tasty. One point deducted because the minced meat is always a mix of beef and pork. That's annoying for people who don't eat pork. The hamburger with pork isn't real either. The prices are quite high. The quantities are OK, but not too much. The quality and ingredients could be a bit better for the prices.

The rooftop terrace, the service, and the food were pure vacation wonders. Interesting, delicious, and charming. Truly worth a visit and a return visit.

The food was very good, and good value for money. Homemade cordon bleu with potato wedges, both top quality. We ate in the restaurant because there was a flea market going on, and it was too busy outside on the terrace. It would be a better rating if the staircase and restrooms were renovated, and the hallway to the roof terrace also needs it. A shame.

We "stumbled" here by chance today and are absolutely thrilled with the entire package! It's been a long time since we've had such an excellent meal outside. We had a typical Balkan dish and know from experience that it was totally authentic – amazing. The view of the Rhine, super friendly service, it's almost worth traveling 250 km just to eat here. The pictures are deceiving; the reality is different. Everything is old, danced, and dirty. The only recommended area is along the promenade if you don't want to eat.

We went to Schröders Wacht for dinner with a group of eight colleagues – on the recommendation of our hotel. And what can we say? Recommendation accepted, recommendation confirmed! We ended up on the roof terrace with a deluxe view of the Rhine – a truly lovely place to ring in the end of the day. Pushing the tables together? No problem. It was quick, friendly, and without any major furniture-moving drama. The service was prompt, attentive, and always there – just what you want when your thirst after work calls. Food and drinks? Not a culinary firework, but honest, delicious, and fairly priced. Just right for a relaxed evening with colleagues. Conclusion: We felt completely at home. Thank you for the lovely evening – we'd love to come back (and maybe bring one or two more colleagues)!

The name Wacht am Rhein suggests more of a "Prussian Cultural Heritage" than fine dining. Nevertheless, anyone who has overcome this hurdle is faced with a rather ambitious menu (see the download). The iced cucumber and avocado soup is very tasty, as is the vitello tonnato, albeit without any visible capers and a bit thick in consistency: delicious! The side bread is rather banal, as is the portion of olives, which you could have safely skipped! The Chardonnay (0.2 for €6.50) is okay, but wasn't chilled well. The service is fine, as is the ambiance.

We stayed at Schröders Wacht am Rhein on our vacation (two couples). A bit unassuming from the outside, it was beautiful inside. We actually wanted to choose the roof terrace (and had made a reservation), but due to the weather, we opted for indoor seating. That wasn't a problem at all. The staff was very helpful and friendly—that's what service should be. The food was first-class. We can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant and would be happy to return. Best wishes from the far north of Germany.

We had a nice time at Schroeder’s. Tried the goat cheese with honey, fried shrimp in garlic sauce, and a fish dish topped with mashed fried potatoes — all were tasty. And of course, I couldn’t skip my favorite: a cold Weizen beer. A good spot to stop by if you’re around Remagen.

We've been here for lunch several times. The food was always solid, but the prices were also reasonable. The location right on the Rhine is very nice. Service was rather lackluster and unmotivated.

Frittieren, erwärmen, anrichten... Hier wird wirklich nichts frisch gekocht, selbst gemacht oder handgefertigt! Alle Gerichte sind Convenience bzw. Tiefkühlkost die in Sekunden auf den Teller gebracht werden. Alle unterschiedlichen Gerichte bei uns und an den Nachbartischen waren von entsprechender "Qualität". Ob Schnitzel, Burger, Tapas, Flammkuchen Grillteller, Hacksteak...alles war einfachste Tiefkühlkost und zudem total überteuert. Der Gipfel war der zusätzliche bestellte Tzatziki, ein Klecks etwa so groß wie ein Teelöffel, für 3€ und das aus dem Eimer - unfassbar. Ich könnte mich jetzt über jedes Gericht auslassen z.B. über den schlechtesten, trockensten Burger ever und das für 19.50€ mit einer Handvoll Pommes. Es gibt auch keinerlei Brot oder irgend etwas nettes vorneweg. Die positiven Bewertungen für das "Warmmachlokal", (für mich kein Restaurant), erklärt sich scheinbar nur so, dass leider viele Menschen nicht mehr wissen was eine vernünftige Küche bedeutet. Handwerk und qualitativ hoher, frischer Wareneinsatz spielt heute scheinbar bei vielen Gäste keine Rolle mehr. Für uns ein kompletter Reinfall auf der ganzen Linie. Wir kommen alle nicht wieder! Einzig positiv erwähnt sei der aufmerksam bemühte Service.

We were satisfied with the service at the restaurant. Unfortunately, the chef couldn't even cook simple fried potatoes to a palatable level. It also occasionally happens that a piece of fish falls apart during frying. But these pieces don't belong on the guest's plate. All in all, there's still room for improvement. Such a restaurant in such an exclusive location is a real shame.

Depending on what you're after, you're in good hands. With views of the Rhine from both inside and outside, it's also very expensive, which is to be expected. I had squid rings that were unfortunately completely covered in a garlic oil mixture. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite right for me. The service, however, was very friendly.

The food is simply incredibly delicious – freshly prepared, prepared with love and full of flavor. Plus a service that is attentive, warm and professional from start to finish. Beautiful place on the Rhine with a view that invites you to linger. The truffle fries, asparagus soup and stuffed mushrooms are surprisingly good for an afternoon snack — tasty, fresh and generous. The atmosphere is casual and cozy, with a mix of locals and tourists appreciating the view. From here you can take the ferry to the other side or take a boat trip to surrounding wine and hill villages. The service has some sloppy moments, but is open to feedback and does its best. A nice stop for those who are hungry and looking forward to a view.

Simply thrilled! Great location. I was very impressed by the good and friendly service. The tapas were to die for. Even the currywurst is better than in the best chip shop. Thanks to the great team!

This was probably the worst and crazy overpriced food i ever ate. And than came the lying interim waiter trying to teach us that in Germany the 27 € miniature veal schnitzel is always dryer than pork and that the 200 grams steak is only an estimate so that 120 grams is normal and that we simply had bad luck. The waiter was laughable, rude and uneducated.

Very nice cozy restaurant. The various tapas were very tasty. Unfortunately we had rainy weather, but I think in the summer you can also sit right on the Rhine very nicely.

The location is very nice because you have a wonderful view of the Rhine. We enjoyed the food very much. There is a wide selection in different directions. The wine selection is also impressive. 🙂 However, the service was a bit unmotivated and made a listless impression. But people were friendly. Conclusion: every now and then. But for a regular visit you can get more bang for your buck elsewhere.

Waren am Abend was essen. Super Wetter und die Lage ist top. Am Rhein sitzen, lecker König Pils genießen und was essen. Super nette Menschen die dort arbeiten. Essen ist sehr lecker und ausreichend. Preise sind für die Lage in Ordnung. Kommen bestimmt noch mal wieder. Weiter so 👍

Leider habe ich viele schlechte Bewertungen gelesen, vielleicht aus einer anderen Zeit. Jedenfalls kann ich berichten, dass 9 Personen unterschiedliche Gerichte hervorragend gegessen haben. Von der Vorspeise bis zur Nachspeise und dazu gibt es eine breite Getränkeauswahl zu welcher sich auch sehr gute Weine gesellen. Meine Vorspeise Kartoffelsuppe mit Trüffel und Lachs, Risotto mit Gemüse und Garnelen und Mango Maracuja Parfait waren top und preislich angemessen.

I was here with my parents and my son. You have a beautiful view of the Rhine. The staff was very friendly. The food was good. The only thing that wasn't great were the fries 🍟. They were in the deep fryer for too short a time and were still a bit soft. But otherwise we felt very comfortable here and would come here again. Best regards

We go to Remagen every now and then and then go to Schroeders. There is now a huge difference in price/performance. It might be nice if you can sit outside, but we won't be doing it indoors anymore, as Remagen has better options to offer.

We were there around 3pm on a Sunday. Service was attentive and friendly at all times. We ordered tapas, they were all quite tasty, I think the Vitello Tonnato could have had more tonnato sauce. The truffle mayonnaise was very good, but the restaurant didn't do itself any favors with the bread, which looked like the cheapest baked baguette from the discount store, a shame to dip the good mayonnaise with it.

A quiet place with large windows and a beautiful view of the river. The waiter was attentive the entire time and very friendly. The food was delicious and plentiful. I ordered a cordon bleu stuffed with Serrano ham and Gouda cheese, with mushroom sauce, which was delicious. For dessert, a chocolate waffle, also freshly made and delicious.

Great place to have something to eat. The location on the water is cozy, the service is nice and fortunately speaks English. The setting looks quite fancy but the atmosphere was a bit awkward. The lack of music was particularly noticeable during dinner. We also asked for bottles of still water, we received a bottle that said sparkling, which suggested that the bottle was just tap water. I ended up paying 6.50 per bottle for this.... The food was fine, the price is high for what you get, but that is not the problem.

Die Bedienung isr freundlich. Die Pommes waren bestenfalls lauwarm. Das Fleisch vom Wiener Schnitzel war bestenfalls mittlere Qualität. Die Champignons waren keinesfalls frisch. Richtig ärgerlich waren die Eiswürfel in der Apfelschorle - im Januar.

Cozy restaurant directly on the Rhine promenade in Remagen with a wonderful view of the Siebengebirge. Nice service and delicious food, very freshly prepared. It's definitely worth coming back. We went here again to try more delicious dishes. The wine and limoncello very refreshing in hot weather! On the last visit everything was great again!

This was a random drop in for us after doing some cadtle visits..all were shut as it was NYE. We opted for 5 Taoss dishes and everyone was excellent. Great menu greatvservuce magnificent views.

We were spontaneously looking for a restaurant for dinner. I looked online for options and found Schroeder's Watch on the Rhine. I really liked the option of making online reservations. This was quick and easy. There were three of us and we got a table at the time we wanted. The ambience, the location and the friendliness when entering the restaurant was very good. We immediately felt good. The menu was really interesting and we opt for a colorful selection of tapas. All were delicious, whether cold or warm dishes. My parents (60-70 years old) also really liked it. Great service and also a great selection of drinks. If we are in the area again we will come back :)

We spontaneously decided to stop at the Schroeder's restaurant in Remagen am Rhein last Friday around 3 p.m. We immediately received a warm welcome and were allowed to choose a free table. The restaurant was quite busy at that time and we were allowed to occupy a free table right by the window. The very friendly and attentive waiter brought us the cards immediately. A huge selection of delicious dishes were also offered at this time. We chose different tapas, which we all enjoyed very much. We also ordered a good wine at a reasonable price. The food was freshly prepared, very well portioned (the three of us shared) and very nicely presented. After almost two hours we left the restaurant and were sure: We'll come back here!! Our companion lives in Remagen, right across the street in the monastery and has already been here several times and brought us here! Thanks to all!! Keep it up!!
