A super nice restaurant in the center. Friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere.

Even though all the tables were reserved, we were able to stay and enjoy our meal in a relaxed atmosphere. The food was excellent. The service was simply magical.

We ate at Schalander for the first time yesterday, and we were very pleased with the excellent food, the excellent service, and the restaurant's beautiful location. Highly recommended. We'd love to come back.

We were thoroughly impressed with our visit to Restaurant Schalander. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by an extremely friendly lady and shown to our table. This lovely woman was our server for the evening and made our visit unforgettable. She was extremely friendly throughout and fulfilled our every need. Her humor and personality put a lasting smile on our faces. The food was also completely impressive. You could tell that the food is prepared and presented with love. The food not only tasted delicious but also filled us up. The next time we're near Kempten, we'll definitely stop by again.

No, the restaurant advertises itself as fine dining, but I didn't notice any of that in the dishes. On top of that, they charge extra for ketchup and mayo on the regular schnitzel for €18.00. I've only ever seen that at McDonald's!

Reserving a table was a bit difficult because the restaurant was very busy. We had reserved a table inside, but decided to take a free table outside at short notice. The friendly and competent staff made it no problem at all. The food was brought to our tables quickly and at the same time. Everything was very tasty and flavorful (some people might find it a bit too much, especially the soup). Everyone enjoyed it. The portions were generous.

This was our third time there. The highlight this time wasn't the food, which was also good, but the service, whose positive, infectious attitude brightened our day.

We received a very friendly welcome and were given the opportunity to get a table for 1.5 hours, as we had a later reservation. Not every restaurant does that. The service was extremely enthusiastic and friendly, and we were never rushed due to time constraints. The food was excellent. Rustic Bavarian, just as we wanted it. The beer was delicious. The ambiance was very nice and lovingly designed.

Price/performance is slightly high - although the food looks and tastes good and the ingredients are fresh/market. Location is also good... relatively central. (We were only missing the umbrellas outside, not because of the sun but because of the undefined flying objects ;)

UPDATE 04.2025: 2 days in Kempten on business... Here again this evening... It's impressive the spirit that the service ladies display... Excellent cuisine can sometimes be found elsewhere... What makes it a 6 star experience is the service!!! So, basically in advance: you should make a reservation! In the evening anyway - at lunchtime it's sometimes possible without... We've been coming here at regular intervals for years - and the fact that it's always packed here is due to the quality and preparation of the dishes, the cozy atmosphere and the consistently friendly service. Everything was super attentive and quick - the food came to the table piping hot. Alpine cuisine at its best! Bravo 👏👏👏

A very nice restaurant with very good, regional cuisine. The staff is extremely friendly and after a very short time we even had personal conversations. The food came relatively quickly, but we only ate dinner. We accessed the restaurant via the outside staircase next to it. I don't know if there is another way to access it. The restaurant is definitely recommended.

Finally had some really good Kässpatzen! That's exactly how they have to be. Lots of flavor, four types of cheese. And very good leaf salad with it. Really cooked with love! Also eaten the Allgäu pasta plate: with Kässpatzen, Krautkrapfen and Maultaschen. Very good and something from everyone... We are happy.

We were visiting Kempten and while strolling through the city we looked for a restaurant where we could spontaneously eat something. We went in and saw that all the tables were already reserved, but since we were very early in the evening we were able to defiantly sit at a table. The inn is very comfortably furnished and you just feel completely at home. The food was simply delicious… very tender meat and well-seasoned side dishes… Top Top Top. Yes, and the crowning glory was the staff, our waitress was a mega bundle of energy, she exuded so much good mood, it's really very rare to see someone have so much fun at work and radiate it like that these days... please always stay that way and Thank you very much for the extraordinary hospitality, when we are back in Kempten we will already know where to eat 🤩

We were here for the first time and received a very warm welcome. You feel comfortable here and the service was attentive and always had a kind word for all the guests. My salad was very tasty and the portion size was just right. Many different types of salad, combined with fresh, delicious sprouts, really recommended. My husband's schnitzel was also totally ok as a portion, but the fried potatoes were a bit too greasy for me personally. However, that is just my personal feeling. Otherwise, we'd love to come back.

We were warmly welcomed by the waitress. When ordering the food, we had to experience that the conditions can become very resolute, assertive and unfriendly if you only order a starter and a main course for two people. It is then explained to you in a very harsh and unfriendly manner that it is not possible to just order a starter without also having a main course. For me, who explained to the waiter that I had an operated stomach and could only eat a soup or an appetizer based on the quantity, it was an absolute no-go. Yes, she became sooo... unfriendly that we didn't know whether we had to get up and leave again or whether we had to order two main courses, which we then had to do. Yes, with the result that she went one better with the statement “the starter is so little that you can manage the main course”. Of course I know better, after all, I have a small stomach and know very well what I can and cannot do. Yes, in this case my husband had to eat 1½ main courses while being slightly hungry, which is actually not the point. Since we didn't want to carry the leftovers around with us, but also didn't want to be happy with high-quality food (as advertised by Schalander) we would just leave it there and let it spoil. Yes, the food was excellent, but this lack of understanding about only getting two main courses instead of JUST a starter and a main course made us not recommend this place, let alone visit it again, due to the lack of loyalty to a person with a handicap. I would like to end with the fact that we have never been subjected to something like this before, including the unfriendly nature and lack of understanding towards a person who is not allowed to eat just an appetizer. Yes, in this case, I couldn't even order a drink because, as already mentioned, my stomach has a limited capacity.
