Restaurant San Marino in Celle

The pizza tonno was quite good, but not the pizza I wanted. I would have liked salmon and Gorgonzola on a spinach pizza, and I was willing to pay more for the salmon. I was told that wasn't possible, and they reiterated emphatically that they wouldn't do "that sort of thing." So why would they write on the menu that additional ingredients can be added for a fixed surcharge? Completely idiotic behavior.

Absolutely fantastic. Incredible atmosphere, a lot of heart and soul has gone into this place. The food is excellent. And the Italian landlady is also incredible.

We've been going to Silvia's for 20 years and are still thrilled! The food is always delicious, and the service is excellent. An absolute must-do in Celle!

We sat in the packed outdoor area in beautiful weather. First, a large mixed salad with plenty of simple iceberg lettuce and a subtle dressing, which we adjusted to our taste with vinegar and oil. Both pizzas were well-topped: Pizza Diavolo with spicy salami. Our request for extra spice was met with a "spicy" tomato sauce. The broccoli and feta cheese pizza (individual request, not on the menu) was okay. Both pizzas had a one-finger-width crust. The dough was rather thick but fluffy. A generous tomato sauce and cheese were added. Service was quick and attentive. Thankfully, no blaring music. We'll be back.

Food A1 with stars as always, very nice service and with the most beautiful terraces in Celle. Definitely recommended! You are always welcomed warmly and there is a very loving atmosphere!

Very good food, all the staff were super nice, although there were two buses of Dutch people eating there and there was a lot to do. A nice final chat with the boss rounded off the visit. Highly recommended, we would love to come back.

Scandalous. It was 8.15pm and there were at least 8 free tables outside, just because the waitress wanted me to stay inside. Ridiculous and this way of telling lies is not acceptable. A person like that should wash the dishes instead of losing possible customers and I was ready to eat appetizer, first course and dessert and instead I go to the competition!

A short vacation in Italy. Authentic cuisine and a boss with attitude. Very child friendly. We always enjoy coming there from Hanover.

Unfortunately the food was very bad. The pizza dough was not fully baked. 1 hour after the pizza, a guest at our table vomited. That was grotto bad.

We were traveling with a camper, I ate Pasta Carbonara at several restaurants, well, this was absolutely the best, tasty pasta and delicious bacon, really great, also very cozy inside.

Service: The drinks were forgotten to be served, so we ate our meal without them; they were noted on the bill. No high chair was offered for our daughter (20 months). Food: The pizza was filling because the dough was much too thick, it wasn't enjoyable. San Marino shouldn't just be full, at least after so many years in Celle there should be more. You have to try harder again! Price/performance: It wasn't right, San Marino showed its bad side today. You went in in a good mood, were disappointed and came out in a bad mood. Conclusion: Won't come back.

No, not recommended. A pizza scampi for 14.50 with 11 shrimps was very lean, the garlic mentioned couldn't be tasted. Apple spritzer for the price of €5. Also half a slice of lemon juice without asking. The boss on the terrace was talking at a volume that rang across the entire terrace. You were confronted with your medical history without being asked. I imagine a quiet and relaxed lunch differently. For us, never again San Marino.

Pizza was okay (Parma with lots of cheese but no rocket - rather unusual), service was nice but could be more attentive. We each had to wait quite a long time before we could get rid of our wishes.

This is unique! A restaurant with many souvenirs. Sometimes like a living room... The food is classic Italian. Honest Italian, homemade pasta, friendly service, family atmosphere. Fair prices. All around an experience! For little money.

Unmöglichen Service. Sitzen seit 12 Uhr im Lokal mit 12 Personen und warten aufs Essen. Es ist jetzt 13:40h und ausser "faulen" Ausreden passiert nichts. Nie wieder. Dann kommt das Essen, wird aber sofort wieder abgeräumt. War leider der falsche Tisch.

One of the best restaurants in and around Celle, at peak times you may have to wait for a seat, but it's worth it. You will be served quickly and you don't have to wait long for your food. The service is friendly even though they are busy, you feel like you are part of a family. The menu is good and the food is excellent, I haven't eaten so well in a long time.

Spent a lovely weekend in Celle and had Italian food. A bit creamy but tasty, the homemade noodles are particularly recommended. Price level is slightly higher.

Unfortunately I have to say that our last visit to your restaurant was extremely disappointing. While my pasta tasted good, my companion's dish (salmon) was of very poor quality - the fish was dry and tasteless. There were also significant deficiencies in the service: the service was unfriendly, drinks were forgotten, and things were cleared away even though people were still eating at the table. What was particularly annoying was that my two-year-old daughter wasn't given plain noodles with ketchup. While this may not be true to Italian cuisine, I would have liked more flexibility and understanding for a young child. In addition, we subsequently noticed that there was an error on the invoice and that we had been overcharged. Such experiences leave a very bad impression. Unfortunately, due to the combination of poor service quality, poor communication and incorrect billing, this will be our last visit.

Since the pizzas are tiny in comparison, we opted for three pasta dishes - all of which were tasteless. The ratio between pasta and sauce wasn't right. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant, it has nothing to do with a quality Italian restaurant.

Not comfortable, very kitschy. Ordered pizza and didn't eat it. Because the oil just ran down the pizza. No crispy pizza. Worst pizza ever in a restaurant.

Unfortunately, our visit today was very disappointing. Neither the food, the service nor the ambience was convincing. The owner seemed very unfriendly and annoyed from the start. When she complained about one of our pizzas, she reacted angrily and with incomprehension, because unfortunately the base of the vegetarian spinach pizza was extremely flat, hard and inedible. The other pizza we ordered, on the other hand, was noticeably more risen and softer. The topping with frozen spinach was also tasteless and seemed careless. But the highlight was the new spinach pizza: it was also topped with ham! Great for a vegetarian.

We were totally disappointed for the first time in 20 years. Some of the food was oversalted and the information given to the waitress was not passed on.

Very slow, I waited almost 2 hours for my food until everyone else was ready. I think if you want to have a nice meal in Celle you should go to the Greek restaurant (Artemis).

Totally rude reception from the boss, we hadn't made a reservation but were still given two small tables. A gigantic menu. My husband ordered a grill plate, very good. I had a pizza, unfortunately disappointed, not crispy, And that at the Italian restaurant. Ambience full of everything imaginable, I've never seen anything like it.

Unfortunately I can only give the San Marino 2 stars. We were guests many years ago and had chosen the restaurant today for a family reunion halfway. Our waitress really tried very hard, the other lady and the boss seemed quite harsh, everyone seemed very stressed. But the farewell was very friendly. We found the ambience inside to be incredibly overloaded. We felt like we were in a cross between a junk shop and my grandmother's living room. This made everything seem very restless and arbitrary. About the food itself: The carbonara was apparently the Germanized version with cream, not just egg and parmesan. It was creamy and relatively tasteless. My calzone barely had any sauce, but had 4 layers of simple cooked ham and very thick, very raw, tasteless mushroom slices. My son's salami pizza was mostly very soggy in the middle and unfortunately way too salty, and unfortunately the edge wasn't crispy at all. My other son's lasagna was also too salty. The two dishes from the special pasta menu were okay, but nothing more. Overall it's unfortunately not worth more than 2 stars, and that's only because of the attentive service and the friendly farewell.

A bit cheesy for some, for others it fits perfectly with the “operator”, who can definitely be described as authentic and an absolute “original”! The restaurant has something if you get involved and has a space inside that you would never have expected! The boss has "the place" very well under control, and we were served without exception in a friendly, competent and tongue-in-cheek manner - the costs for food and drink were also in the usual mid-range, but also reasonable! In my opinion, San Marino is the best Italian restaurant in Celle and the surrounding area. Silvia is the heart and soul and, together with her excellent team, puts a smile on the guests' faces. The food is excellent. Clear recommendation.

Actually I can't give any stars, you feel like you're in a junk shop and not a restaurant, but that's a matter of taste. There were a lot of waitresses in the store, but there was no one who was friendly. We got the starter before the drinks, the cola was stale, the Alster was mixed with cheap lemon juice where we didn't taste any beer. And the food was subpar, the spaghetti was swimming in fat and was completely over salted and peppery. I could list a lot more here but I think it's enough. It's a shame about the beautiful shop that once had a very, very good reputation in Celle.

Very unfriendly service and loud atmosphere, even though there were few guests. The extra portion of homemade pasta we ordered was very small (just too expensive at €6 extra) and was almost cold at the table when it was served. Very disappointing, especially since we had already eaten there a few times and we had experienced that things could be better.

We always enjoyed being guests in San Marino. The food tastes good, but unfortunately it's difficult now when you have a small change. Suddenly you can no longer deviate. Why? Dishes only as on the menu. Difficult. You often have to wait a long time for service to come back. Too bad. In the small shop it used to be nicer. But still we had a great time and the food was delicious.

Just round the corner from the hotel I was staying at. Located on a beautiful street lined with buildings dating back to the 1600’s. Nice out door seating being served by young bubbly staff. Pricing is very reasonable (read: value for money). I ordered the spaghetti carbonara with a nice local beer. 🍺. Pasta was good and just portion size. Will be back next time and try out their pizza.

The best Italian restaurant in Celle. Much of the magic comes from the owner Sylvia. She is a special picturesque person with a big love of people. The dishes are big and tasty and fresh. The atmosphere is quite non German rather Italian, happy and lovely. Have been there numerous times and will always come back to Sylvia.

I rarely write reviews, but the owner of the San Marino is simply wonderful. Super friendly service, very tasty food and very fair prices. We were there for my grandmother's birthday and the manager sang her a great song. So did several other guests with birthdays. The San Marino really lives up to its name as “the ristorante with heart”, and everyone who is ever in Celle should stop by here. A big ❤️ to you from me.

Wir saßen in diesem prallvollen Lokal sehr gut auf der schönen Sommerterrasse. Für uns war das Highlight die sehr gute Auswahl an frischem Fisch. Tipptopp! Der Wolfsbarsch war sehr lecker und der gefüllte Tintenfisch in aromatischer Tomatensoße ebenfalls. Auch die frischen Kartoffeln geschwenkt in Rosmarinbutter waren lecker. Ein großes Dankeschön an die fitte Chefin und ihr langjähriges Team!

Unfortunately no recommendation at all. Food is okay, service is not. As a guest, my nephew doesn't have to be seriously insulted by the boss for wearing a hat?! I ask you... I want to feel welcome and comfortable in a restaurant and not be made to feel like I am unwanted before I order.

And having found ourselves in this restaurant on a recommendation, my boyfriend and I decided to try lasagna and onion soup and also ordered a glass of wine, to which the waitress looked at us disapprovingly and asked why we were taking so little food. The food was brought quickly enough, despite the fact that there were a lot of people in the place. But the presentation left us with dubious impressions, because the onion soup was brought to us not only in an iron plate, but also with softened bread in the soup. However, when we decided to take the bill, we had to wait a very long time, and after asking three waiters for it, only then 15 minutes later they brought it to us. But the lasagna was delicious

Really good food for the price, lots to choose from, cozy place whether it's inside or outside. The service is good, the restaurant was full, yet they had enough for good service and the food came quickly 87 euros for two starters main course and red wine

Fandt dette sted netop via Tripadvisor og vi fortrød ikke valget af denne restaurant på vores ene dag i Celle. Betjeningen var hyggelig, hjælpsom og meget venlig. Maden kom hurtigt og som vi bestilte den (blandet forretter og hovedretter sammen) og smagte himmelsk. Og stemningen på restaurantens udendørsområde var helt i top

The place, the ristorante, reminds me a lot of Italy. All that's missing is the sea and a breeze Sea wind, then the Mediterranean idea would be reality. The food is very good and as I said, the service Italian friendly and attentive.

Unfortunately we had to leave the restaurant after three quarters of an hour (unfortunately we hadn't made a reservation.) My wife had ordered sole, but unfortunately she got everything else except sole. I ordered ravioli stuffed with ricotta and spinach. It was pasta from industrial mass production. No revelation in terms of taste. The service left a lot to be desired. All in all, I have never enjoyed worse Italian food.

I just love coming back here for years. The city is unimaginable without Silvia and San Marino. The pasta selection is great and the service is always impeccable. Going to San Marino is always a feel-good event for me.
