Always a great place to eat when I am in Bad Salzuflen!

Today I had lunch at the beautiful "Historic Town Hall" in Bad Salzuflen, at the "Ratskeller Bad Salzuflen" restaurant. The restaurant has a historic interior, undoubtedly spanning several eras. As soon as I entered, there was a bar on the left with a tiled underside. The head waiter couldn't tell me exactly how old the tiles were, but they were beautiful. I would tentatively estimate them to be 150-200 years old, which is probably the same age as the entire interior. Lunch in the Middle Ages – that's quite something! I had a duet of salmon and pike-perch fillets with braised vegetables and boiled potatoes. The lunch was delicious, to put it mildly. The head waiter was very friendly and we had a nice chat, which I really appreciated. I can highly recommend the "Ratskeller Bad Salzuflen" restaurant. 🙏🙏

This is rather disappointing for the prices charged. The service was also uneven: sometimes friendly, sometimes unfortunately a bit reserved. Overall, the impression remains that with a little more attention and generosity, much more could be achieved here.

Tonight I went to eat at the Rathskeller with my friends. I have to say we were very happy with the food. It was delicious, fresh, and the portions were also generous. The only downside, however, was that after dinner, we chatted for a while. When asked if we wanted any more drinks, we replied "no." After 20 minutes, the waiter came to the table and said, "Okay, ladies, are we all paying together or separately?" It felt like being thrown out. The place was still feeling good, but none of us had said we wanted to pay. Then the bill came, and I have to say, I was shocked; the mayo we ordered with the fries cost €2.20. One portion...what exactly justifies this ridiculously high price for mayo?

No. The food is expensive, there's little of it, and it's not particularly tasty. The service isn't particularly polite either.

The visit to the Ratskeller was the highlight of our family reunion. The deliciousness of the food was like a surprise for the palate and soul. At one point, everyone at the table was smiling and simply enjoying their meal. Tender meat, spicy yet mild salad dressing, and unusual sauces—all truly something special. The fact that the prices weren't exorbitant and the staff were so friendly and enthusiastic made this restaurant visit an all-around positive experience. I highly recommend this place.

I don't know where the many stars come from. The place is very large. The food came out much too quickly and the taste was a complete disaster. The portion was outrageous for the price (kale), and the €2 surcharge for fried potatoes instead of boiled potatoes is outrageous.

We wanted to grab a quick bite to eat in the evening and stumbled upon this place by chance while strolling through town. The daily menu is very extensive, and the standard menu is also varied, the prices are great, and many dishes are offered at a discounted rate as senior citizen plates. Our Wiener schnitzel was delicious, and the boiled beef was soft as marzipan. The food arrived quickly, and our server was a true professional, even this late in the evening, with a quick quip. The staff and service are great. That's all. The rice is dry and disgusting. The fried potatoes are burnt, and the Germans know how to fry potatoes deliciously, really. The sauce is like it was diluted from a pack, the poultry liver is dry and bitter. Guys. I'm very sorry. But it's a shame to pay money for this. Sorry.

We were very disappointed today. We've been to this restaurant several times and were always very satisfied. Today, however, the cellar was unpleasant, and my wife ordered liver, which she'd already eaten there before. It was inedible today. After we sent it back, we were told that the liver tasted so ordinary! We've eaten liver many times in our lives, and it's not appropriate to say it tastes so ordinary. Normally, you should apologize for that. And when we paid, we were asked to pay the full price, saying that the chef had ordered it that way. Unfortunately, we won't be visiting this restaurant again because it not only spoiled our appetite and our mood, but also ruined our wedding anniversary, which was supposed to end with a nice dinner. Unfortunately, they completely failed today.

Absolutely excellent value for money. Very friendly service. Tastefully presented dishes, a feast for the eyes. Highly recommended is the oven-fresh leg of lamb with ratatouille and vegetables. The meat was cooked to perfection, the vegetables were braised but still al dente, and the fried potatoes were divine.

The generous horseradish sauce, which covered the meat, should more accurately describe the name - sauce with a light hint of horseradish. The boiled potatoes were good, as were the grilled vegetables (too much oil for grilled vegetables). The "Heaven and Earth" menu, traditional and good. The spice grinders on the rustic tables were necessary. The tables, like ours, were set with placemats, napkins, and simple cutlery. To clean the placemats, they were lightly knocked out with a skillful arm/hand movement at our neighboring table, which we had just vacated. Upon entering the premises; A strong, caustic smell of disinfectant. The soles of our shoes stuck to the shiny, light-colored tile floor. After staying there for a while, it took a lot of effort to leave the place with our shoes on the sticky floor. The only waiter in the large room, with about three occupied tables (including ours, a total of seven adults), seemed to have heard our suggestion. Conclusion: We were there. A rustic ambiance in the city center, directly beneath the historic town hall. Good German cuisine, friendly staff. Reservations are recommended.

The waiter was very unfriendly and treated us as if he were superior to us. He didn't even try to give us change. I actually wanted to give him some coins afterward, but after he tried to pocket the 48 cents, I thought to myself: that's your tip now.

We stayed here during our vacation nearby. Quaint, rustic atmosphere in a historic house. In the middle of the old town. The food is good home cooking with a large selection. Was delicious. Service was quick and the food came quickly too. Went there around 5 p.m. and got a table right away on a Saturday evening without a reservation. An older waiter didn't seem to think it was necessary to say hello when he came in and said goodbye. Everyone else, including the temporary workers, were very nice.

Typical German old-style cooking, the ambience is very, very old, it's not for everyone, but some like it as it is. The staff is quick and courteous, but unfortunately they still lack improved language skills.

Zu einem Urlaub in Bad Salzuflen gehört der Besuch im Ratskeller einfach dazu. Auch in diesem Jahr im März bei schönen Frühlingswetter war Einkehr in den Ratskeller angesagt. Wie immer wurden wir auch dieses Mal nicht enttäuscht. Saftige Medaillons in Rahmsoße mit frischen Champignons und Kroketten mit einem schönen geschmackvoll angerichteten Salat war schon mal hervorragend. Nicht überwürzt, genau richtig. Dann das Forellenfiltet mit Salzkartoffeln, zerlassener Butter und ebenfalls schön angerichteter Salat. Dazu noch die passenden Getränke. Was will der Mensch mehr? Uns hat es sehr gut geschmeckt und das bei einem ausgewogenen Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder und können den Ratskeller uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen. Vielen Dank noch an den sehr zuvorkommenden Kellner mit dem dunklen Bart. :-)

Von außen grade durch die Baustelle unscheinbar versteckt, von innen urig gemütlich und durchweg freundlich. Das Essen war fabelhaft, ob der Salat mit frischen Champions, die Rathauspfanne oder das Schnitzel. Die Portionen waren stattlich und ich habe es leider nicht geschafft, das Gemüse war ebenfalls ausgezeichnet. Ich würde jederzeit hier wieder einkehren 😀🙏

During my rehab I had visitors and we wanted to treat ourselves to something nice. So off to the Ratskeller. Not a good idea. The food was okay, but nothing special (hearty, fatty). The staff was more of a problem. There was a boss, a head waiter and a counter attendant. It was noticeable that there was a bad atmosphere there, the boss insulted the young counter worker in a tone that made it very unpleasant to listen to. My companion complained about something about her food and the response was absolutely inappropriate. The head waiter and the boss outdid each other in their stroppy and even aggressive behavior. It's a shame about the evening, I would avoid the store. There are also very good restaurants in the surrounding area with refined cuisine and friendly staff where we felt comfortable as guests.

Unfortunately, the Ratskeller in Bad Salzuflen disappointed us with bland food and mediocre friendliness. Instead of a hearty, black gravy*, the kitchen delivered little attention to detail. If you're looking for rustic Ratsstuben cuisine, you won't find it here. A visit falls short of expectations. Maybe it was also due to the full house, as the whole of Bad Salzuflen was full of people. However, that is no reason to compromise on quality and hospitality. *figuratively speaking wish

I've eaten at Ratskeller three times in the last three weeks. Once with two, once with four and today alone. The menu is large enough, predominantly German cuisine. Everything from fish, poultry, pork and beef is available. Also vegetarian dishes. The service is across the board very quick, friendly and accommodating. All the dishes that were served during the three visits looked very appetizing and also tasted very fresh and good. The side salads are quite large and super fresh. All dishes were sufficiently large in quantity. Price/performance was definitely right. Unrestricted recommendation.

We had a wonderful visit to Ratskeller Bad Salzuflen! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, just right to feel comfortable and relax. We were in Bad Salzuflen for a weekend and stopped at the Ratskeller. The service was very attentive and friendly. We had veal schnitzel and rump steak. The food was served quickly and was tasty. Price/performance fits. Not a “wow” either, but it’s good, home-style, and that’s what we expected. I would have liked a few more roasted flavors on the steak. It was medium and very tender, but quite wide and thin, which probably made it impossible to cook for a longer period of time. Also, some sea salt and pepper “on top” would be great. With the herb butter it tasted good and the vegetables (I ordered extra) were delicious. At the end there was crème brûée and the little sweet finish. My husband thought the cream was great, the orange taste bothered me and unfortunately it was cold. I think it's great when served warm. The sweet ending tasted delicious. I would have liked the scoop of ice cream and the red fruit jelly to be served separately. The ambience and the guest room could use a refresh. This is certainly my personal taste, but it still seems a bit dusty. In addition, the kitchen chime and the door are quite loud and cause unrest in the dining room.

Despite many visitors, we were able to get a table. The staff is extremely friendly and customer-oriented. The food was plentiful and inexpensive. My wife ate the gourmet salad (highly recommended for the price). I had boiled beef. Good, but not top class. That's why only 4 stars. All in all, a worthwhile restaurant.

The sky and Ääd was simply divine.

Since my husband really wanted to eat the Tafelspitz, we went to the Ratskeller today. We sat outside because the weather was perfect. Unfortunately, when we sat down, no one really noticed us, even though the tables with their guests were very manageable. When the order was taken two tables next to us and the waiter had at least 7 cards in his hand, we were shouted "Bring the cards straight away". Uhhh....? You already have cards in your hand... well... After many more minutes that passed and passed, the waiter handed us a card each, but without saying hello or simply a friendly greeting. Since my husband already knew what he was ordering, I felt like I would have been happy to go. But well... I then chose the herring fillet in the Westphalian style. The food wasn't worth two stars for me as the food seemed to only be kept warm in devices. The fried potatoes were very limp and the frying fat was running away, as was the case with the princess beans. Personally, I didn't like the way it was done at all because you didn't feel welcome and the employees weren't working as a team. It's a shame for such a location, especially since the restaurant is only poorly maintained and little emphasis is placed on the ambience and atmosphere. Please note that if there are several guests on site, there may be waiting times in front of the toilet! After dinner we went to Café BO, as I always buy my coffee there to take home... and what can I say, we stopped there for a cappuccino and a piece of homemade cake and it was easy just beautiful. My conclusion: I will no longer visit the Ratskeller and I won't recommend it either.
