Restaurant Ponderosa in Köngen

We visited this restaurant on recommendation. It is located in the countryside surrounded by greenery. The interior is simple but cozy. There is a beautiful, large terrace. The friendly, attentive service is noteworthy. The food was freshly prepared with good ingredients and very tasty. We highly recommend this restaurant. There is ample parking available.

The food is very good, but the €6 side salad isn't worth it. On Sundays, you're served by a friendly student team. Reservations are required.

Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to the recommendations we had received. The waiter didn’t smile once and did not follow basic service rules — for example, serving from the right. Dishes arrived with long delays between them, so we had to wait for each other to start eating. The children were served last in some cases, which should never happen. When we asked about one of the dishes, the response was simply: “Well, what am I supposed to do now?” — even if this was due to a misunderstanding, this is not an acceptable reaction. The gravy did not taste homemade, and the Spätzle clearly were not homemade either. The schnitzel was good, but overall the experience was disappointing. Even if it was just a bad day for the restaurant, the level of service and quality we experienced was simply unacceptable.

We were there for dinner and had a reservation. The staff was very friendly. For starters, we had sliced ​​beef with vinaigrette and Riesling soup. Delicious. For the main course, roast beef medium-rare was cooked to perfection with melted onions and was very tasty. Unfortunately, the fried potatoes were burnt and had a bitter taste.

The sausage salad could use a bit more seasoning, but overall it's okay. The service is nice and you can stop by.

We celebrated our child's confirmation at the Ponderosa Restaurant – and it was simply perfect! The food was a dream: fresh, varied, and of the highest quality. The service was warm, attentive, and incredibly professional. Everything ran smoothly and relaxed, allowing us to fully enjoy our special day. The entire process was excellently organized – from the welcome to the last espresso. A big thank you to the entire team! We can absolutely recommend the Ponderosa – not just for special occasions, but also for anyone who appreciates good food and outstanding service.

We were there at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday with two small children. Unfortunately, the welcome fries were sold out. We were served schnitzel with fried potatoes. The schnitzel was rubbery, and the fried potatoes were like mashed potatoes. The service was terrible. We had to order our second drink at the bar. When we wanted to pay, we went back to the bar. It was okay to play mini golf, but not to eat. We paid €120 for terrible food and no service.

Wir waren am Sonntag Abend um 17.30 Uhr mit zwei kleinen Kindern dort. Begrüßung: Pommes sind leider aus. Essen eine Katastrophe. Schnitzel dann halt mit Bratkartoffeln. Schnitzel mit Gummifleisch. Bratkartoffeln wie Kartoffelbrei. Service unterirdisch. Das zweite Getränk mussten wir an der Theke bestellen und als wir gehen wollten wieder an die Theke zum bezahlen. Zum Minigolf ok, zum Essen gehen leider nicht. 120,- Euro bezahlt für schlechtes Essen und einen schlechten Service. Da gibt andere gute Restaurants.

I celebrated my birthday on Saturday in private and it was great. Despite a lot of work and certainly stress, all the employees are always nice and friendly and really care about your well-being. I have known you Restaurant Ponte Rosa for a very long time. But what they screwed up with my reservation is simply not possible. Was in this restaurant three weeks ago to reserve seats for 6 people for today, Saturday April 26th, 2026 at 1 p.m. Got the OK, nothing was going on, three weeks ago on this day. My appointment was recorded, with my name and phone number, in their big book. When I made my appointment today, no one knew about my reservation. There was a closed society on this appointment. And my reservation was postponed to Thursday April 24th, 2025?

Absolutely delicious 😋 especially the cream sauce... you could drink a glass of it 😄 the fries are always on point and the salads with the dressing are a poem... salad is a must with every meal 🙏🏻

We celebrated our 100th birthday at the Ponderosa. Everything was perfect! The food was delicious, the staff were very friendly, accommodating, quick and easy. The atmosphere is totally cozy. Table decoration very tasteful but without a lot of fuss, just great. We celebrated until morning with music and singing, no one bothered anyone. Only recommended! Fine German modern cuisine. Our dishes: Schnitzel with homemade spaetzle, roast beef with fried potatoes. Everything was top and very fine. Great selection of upscale wines, almost all of which are served by the glass. The restaurant is open all day. No consistent kitchen on weekdays. Dogs are allowed in the restaurant. My conclusion: Absolutely recommended. It's worth a visit.

We were there today as a large family for a 90s celebration. Very well arranged table with flowers and candles. Everything is very nice. The food was enjoyable for everyone and tasted great. The staff very accommodating and friendly. Thanks to the kitchen and all the staff 👍you are great.

We celebrated my birthday with 16 people at the Ponderosa. After initial difficulties at the beginning (almost non-existent service in the first half hour, no tickets, no drinks), things went really well. As always, the food was excellent and the service was attentive and very friendly. The children also had fun and were allowed to play mini golf. Due to the heat, even though we had a reservation outside, we were even allowed to eat inside and didn't go out on the terrace until later. It was a successful evening, many thanks to the team 👍🙂

A wonderful place at the height of Köngen with a beautiful terrace area. I think the side salad always shows the quality of a restaurant, and that's what the Ponderosa is called after all. Unfortunately it was nothing, what are fried onions and mixed pickles looking for on a summer salad?? There wasn't a tomato in sight anywhere... And that was during tomato season! Really a shame.

Had dinner here this evening (7/25/24) with work colleagues. I am very stunned. The food was extremely delicious. I had bruschetta first and cheese spaetzle as the main course. Some of the best I've ever eaten in a restaurant. The drinks prices are also really fair; I have rarely seen them so moderate. I'm used to much higher prices in Hamburg.

According to Google, dinner is served on Saturdays until 10 p.m. Went there at 9 p.m. on Saturday, there were a lot of guests and there was no more food. Kitchen already closed. 🙁

First we go through the fields on the outskirts of town. And then also this name: Ponderosa. That sounds more than a little bit like Bonanza and the Cartwrights. Maybe so, but Hop Sing would never have managed the food so well. Despite the rustic atmosphere, guests can expect sophisticated cuisine at moderate prices, where even vegetarians will get their money's worth. The service is friendly and attentive.

Very nice restaurant. Food came on time, price/performance ratio was right. We'd love to come back. 04.02. If I re-rated it I would give it one star less. It was cold in the guest room, and the heating was not turned on even at the request and the subsequent promise. We had 3 seniors at my birthday dinner, had we known about the room temperature we would have gone somewhere else. The food - onion roast, beef cheeks and venison - was very good.

Sehr leckeres Essen! Preis Leistung ist auch sehr gut. Das Personal super nett! Kommen gerne wieder. Das Ambiente ist sehr gemütlich. Für Kinder gibt es draussen einen großen Spielplatz.

Wunderschönes und gemütliches Ambiente, sehr gute regionale Speisen zu günstigen Preisen. Die Menschen die dort arbeiten haben sichtlich Freude an der Arbeit, herzlichen Dank und macht weiter so. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Liebevoll eingerichtetes Restaurant mit sehr feinem Essen (wir waren von Cordon Bleu und Kaiserschmarrn absolut begeistert). Der Service ist freundlich, aufmerksam und schnell. Hier fühlt man sich willkommen. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Waren dort zum Abendessen kurzfristig nettes übersichtliches Ambiente leider etwas laut gegessen haben wir einen Rostbraten mit Bratkartoffeln und Kässpätzle die Bedienung sagte uns dass es etwas länger dauert da sehr viel los war wir bekamen dennoch recht zügig unser Essen leider waren die Bratkartoffeln absolut kalt die Bedienung darauf hingewiesen wurde mir sofort neue Bratkartoffeln gebracht und eine extra Soße. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis war okay. Leider parkplatztechnisch sehr beengt für die Größe des Lokales mussten abseits auf einem Feldweg parken.

Restaurant liegt landschaftlich schön inmitten von Feldern. Die Speisekarte bietet gut bürgerliche, vor allem schwäbische Speisen. Der Service war nett und gut organisiert. Bruschetta als Vorspeise war lecker, aber sehr fettig angeröstet. Zur Hauptspeise: Zwiebelrostbraten mit Bratensauce, geschmälzten Zwiebeln und Bratkartoffeln. Das Fleisch hatte ich Medium bestellt, kam aber durch an. Zum Glück gute Qualität und daher trotzdem sehr zart. Die Bratkartoffeln waren zu weich und hatten wenig Röstaroma. Die Sauce war nicht ordentlich abgebunden, sehr flüssig und vom Geschmack durchschnittlich. Die geschmälzten Zwiebeln waren an der Grenze zum Bitteren. Leider kam alles nur lauwarm, fast kalt. Käsespätzle waren sehr fettig und der Käse nicht wirklich würzig wie man es erwarten würde. Insgesamt nur eine durchschnittliche Erfahrung, da muss man bei den Preisen schon mehr erwarten können, zudem sind das grundlegende Dinge, die man erwarten kann.

Leckere kleine Karte mit verhältnismäßig vielen Salaten (absolut positiv zu verstehen!). Gerne und definitiv wieder 🙂

Wir waren Ende September auf einer Hochzeit in der Ponderosa. Das Essen war super. Da von den Gästen u.a. ich Zöliakie habe und kein Gluten essen darf, hatte das Brautpaar dem Personal Bescheid gegeben, dass wir ein glutenfreies Essen benötigen. Der Salat kam dann ohne Croûtons und am Buffet konnte ich alles essen, bis auf die panierten Schnitzel und die Spätzle. Die Soßen werden hier von Haus aus glutenfrei abgebunden (- großes Lob!!!), Kartoffelecken und Herzogin Kartoffeln wurden vom Brautpaar glutenfrei bestellt :))) - herzlichen Dank nochmal. Ich habe schon ne Weile nicht mehr so lecker und vielseitig an einem Buffet essen können, wie an dieser Hochzeit (jemand der auch Zöliakie hat, versteht, was ich damit meine). Das Fleisch, die Beilagen und der Salat waren super lecker. Zum Nachtisch bekam ich ein extra Sorbet - Nachtisch gab es am Buffet schon separat glutenfrei, allerdings mit Sahne, Quark,... und das kann ich wegen der Laktose leider auch nicht essen. Es war ein sehr gelungenes Fest und das Personal war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Eine Feier in der Ponderosa ist sehr zu empfehlen!

Wir waren schon mehrmals im Restaurants und jedes Mal war das Essen super. Besonders lecker sind die Saucen, die Maultaschen und der Kartoffelsalat.

Schöne Lage, leider ohne Aussicht, aber unbedingt sich mal draußen die Beine vertreten und den Blick auf die schwäbische Alb genießen.

Bei gutem Wetter schöne Aussicht bis zur Schwäbischen Alb. Außenbewirtung und Minigolf vor der Haustüre. Alles ebenerdig erreichbar. Anfahrt ist von Köngen her ausgeschildert. Reservieren macht Sinn.

Essen war geschmacklich ok. Preis /Leistung ist ok. Das Essen hat uns jedoch nicht vom Hocker gehauen. Wartezeit war über eine Stunde und schade dass wir nicht alle zusammen essen konnten, es kam erst nach und nach jedes Essen an den Tisch.
