Restaurant Plünnhock in Haren (Ems)

Typical theme park restaurant. It is being processed. Furnishings are a matter of taste but the food is not worth the money. Everything was tasteless and greasy and overpriced. The fact that there was no heating and the outside temperature was 10 degrees didn't make it any more comfortable. No second visit planned.

A nice rustic restaurant with creative seating. We ate in "bed". Stopped for lunch on the way to the North Sea. The restaurant serves warm food throughout. Allergies and special requests are taken into account. The restaurant has its own parking lot and is located directly on the lake. The restaurant is recommended for a short break or the rooms are also set up for larger celebrations. A rest is worth it.

Went there yesterday with 15 people. The kids had their own buffet (where they could start right away). There was something for everyone - meat lovers praised the beef and the concept of "your own pans" and tarte flambée meant you could put together wonderfully varied vegetarian dishes. The kids were well entertained in the games area and the nearby playground. The service was competent and friendly. WhatsApp orders come quickly. Gladly again!

We had dinner with 12 people and everything was served at the same time and without errors. The food was very good and tasty. The prices are higher, but if the origin of the food is good, I'm happy to pay that (unfortunately, as a customer, that's never easy to understand). But the quality is very good and portion sizes are also good. The staff is definitely on point and very friendly.

On September 28th, 2024, our family (7 people) stopped here after prior reservation for our 50th wedding anniversary as part of a 3-day stay in the Schloß Dankern theme park. A great, rustic restaurant with very nice, attentive service. All the dishes we ordered from the extensive menu were super tasty and very well portioned. The meat and vegetables were cooked to perfection. The drinks are well tempered. Thank you very much, we will definitely come back again.

Food, service, ambience all very good. We have been going to Plünnhock for over 30 years. There were already a few other owners at that time. Rainer Sommer took over Dankern..... Plünnhock 1-2 years ago. Food and drinks have become more expensive again and there is less on the plate.

About the new owner: Quality is still excellent. The menu and opening times have been expanded. Service is still good. The price has become a little more expensive. And you just have to forego the suckling pig buffet now. The whole ambience is "different", which doesn't have to be a negative thing, but you have to like it To the previous owner: Excellent restaurant with very courteous and attentive staff. Tastefully decorated. You can also taste that the food is freshly prepared and of high quality. This is worth the slightly higher price. Drinks are a bit expensive in some cases. There are regular activities such as buffets and family evenings. Absolute recommendation! Reservation makes sense.

Absolutely bad service, food okay, children's buffet... Actually only fried foods... Not a single lettuce leaf in sight... Even cold fries upon arrival... I remembered it much better

Absolutely recommended! It was an absolute pleasure, especially with our child. Staff that love children like this is absolutely rare and I would advise all parents to eat here. The food is delicious, the people are simply warm and the atmosphere is very special! The schnitzel evening is an enrichment :)

If you're looking for really good food, nice service and a great ambience, this is the place for you. The "Erwin" table No. 13 is a great story. If you come as a couple, you should ask whether the "Erwin" table is still free/already free. Delicious food, nice places both outside and inside. Great service

A really great restaurant. Quaintly cozy. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating. We were there with our dog. Even the dog was provided with water. The food was nice and hot, the vegetables were nice and crunchy and the meat was super tender. WE'LL LOVE TO COME BACK.

This restaurant is in a beautiful location, Exactly opposite the beautiful long beach in Haren. From the menu, the small Schnitzel with a small salad and Bratkartoffeln for the nice price of € 12.50 is definitely recommended. And the ice cream menu with more than 19 delicious coupes, should not be missed.

Very great restaurant with extremely courteous staff. We really enjoyed the meal and the dessert. With some of the most tender meat we have ever eaten. Very child-friendly and absolutely recommended.

We were there on Wednesday August 15th with 3 adults and 3 children for Rodizio dinner. All around a wonderful evening! An absolute highlight of our vacation.

Were at Plünnhock Essen today. At first it was very difficult to find the way and everything on the way was parked by the bathers who were at the lake. Various barriers to the restaurant were closed, so we had to find the way to get to our destination. Finally we arrived late. The order was placed quickly and from then on it took a while until the food was at the table because the team in the kitchen and in service were understaffed. The food itself was delicious and was super hot, which is rare in a restaurant. Salad was very fresh and beautifully served in a glass with delicious dressing. Big compliment for the kitchen. A nice ice cream sundae for dessert. Thumbs up. If we're in the area again we'll come back.

Great location. We were there for dinner with 3 children and 3 adults. There is a small buffet for the children where they can help themselves to hot dogs, fries and much more. The food was great and there was also a large selection, so that everyone could get their own taste. The ambience was great and the large outdoor terrace also invites you to sit and sit. So we were all super happy. What we found very cool was the ice box for dessert for the kids. Once they had finished the ice cream, they were able to wash out the treasure chest and fill it with sweets. Great job.👍

Unfortunately we had a bit of bad luck with the staff, to be precise a slightly older, bespectacled lady who was in a really bad mood. In addition, the price of the children's menu increased by 50% within a year. The fried potatoes were weak, the meat was quite good. Instead, there is a very uncomfortable new seating arrangement, which gives the formerly cozy restaurant a touch of a youth hostel. This is certainly involuntary.

My parents-in-law had previously been to Plünnhock with their children and last year we and the children automatically received a treasure chest with ice cream after their meal, which they could clean after the ice cream and fill it with a few sweet treats. This year, according to the service, the treasure chest costs €2.50 per child, or €5, and if it is filled with goodies, another €2.50. When we asked the waitress, we were told that this was now being done due to the price increase. We don't understand that because the children remember something like that and it's also a small highlight. Especially since small children also ask and as parents you have to explain it. Everything is always taken away from the children. We also had to pay 2.50 for still water because the waitress didn't want the children to drink the still water they had brought with them. For children who are 8 to 10 or older and who already drink soft drinks, it's ok, but for children who are 3 and 5 who don't drink soft drinks yet, we don't understand this either. I believe in the long term, some families will stay away and prefer to cook in the holiday homes. The seating arrangement was also like in a beer garden. Tables were right next to each other, so you had to sit right next to strangers. I doubt whether the new arrangement is that good, since the families would like to sit alone and not right next to strangers who can hear every word. The private distance is then not maintained. Nevertheless, the ambience and the food are super delicious

Were here for the Rodizio. Unfortunately, a complete absence. The menu has nothing to do with Rodizio - schnitzel, smoked pork and dry, over-seasoned chicken were served. Side dishes were fried potatoes and fries. Quality is ok, but a complete sham.

Unfortunately things have slowed down with the new tenant.

Yesterday we waited at least 10 minutes at the entrance to the terrace. At least 4/5 staff came by several times, but no one bothered to come to us to indicate whether a table was available. It was busy but when we walked to the car, guests were already leaving so there were probably options available. Ended up eating somewhere else. Very indecent! Edition after company response: What a pity this reaction...I assume that guests are not supposed to push 2 tables together themselves? And even if that were the case; If you see that people are waiting for so long, why not take the time to ask if you can help them? Especially if there are five of you... Edit after second company response; What you wrote is not correct, but I like the idea. You won't see us again, but I wish you the best of luck.

This was our second time there. Always on a Dankern holiday. The food there is delicious and plentiful. And the staff is nice. Pleasant atmosphere. The prices are reasonable.

The food was delicious, the service was excellent, the children's buffet was unique. The children wanted to go back the next day. Even our Pepsi 🐕 was thought of 🥰 We will definitely come back on our next vacation.

Saturday, July 20, 2024: Incredibly hot that day. Over 30 degrees at the lake. In the afternoon we really wanted a coffee and a currywurst fries. The waiter says, “We don’t have currywurst on the menu.” Slight disappointment for us, but we get a coffee. After 2 minutes the waiter comes back to the table: "I asked in the kitchen. Of course you can get currywurst fries." Sure, bring it on! Really tasty, we were very satisfied. Dear catering industry: You can learn a lesson at “Plünnhock”: that’s how service works! By the way, the coffee was amazing, sorry for the flippant word. Great atmosphere, really good service, full 5 stars from us.

Plünnhock used to be much better.

Cozy place. Service and atmosphere are nice. The menu however is really overwhelming: there are hundreds of options to choose from. If the restaurant would offer fewer options they could make the food more refined. Now its just o.k. I had a salad which was a bit bland; There was both fish and beef in it but the dressing was supportive of the beef, the fish was overpowered by it.

On our way to Holland we found this beautiful place on Lake Danker. The restaurant is furnished in a very rustic way and invites you to linger. Since we were allowed to stay the night upon request, the beer wasn't non-alcoholic either 😁 The staff is nice and courteous and also told many anecdotes. The food has unusual names, but it's absolutely appropriate for a former pigsty and extremely tasty 😁😁 Children are also catered for and it's also pleasant without children because the areas are separate 😀 so all in all we can only recommend it 😀

Where should I start now...... The atmosphere is very nice and the concept is very family friendly. There is a separate guest room for families with children, a large and well-stocked games corner. We also thought the children's buffet was great. Due to a lack of registration it couldn't be offered today, but a great alternative was offered. The staff is very friendly and understands humor, it was a very pleasant evening! The food was very good and the menu leaves nothing to be desired. The drinks menu is also very extensive!!! We are already looking forward to the next visit!

Incredibly, a reservation for Pentecost was “forgotten”. Our group was sent away emotionlessly. One star is still significantly overrated.

Unfortunately, after many years, the organization obviously hasn't earned a single star. The reservation was squandered and then a cheap excuse was made. And that’s with a reservation for 22 people on a Sunday. Regret nil. Simply an impudence

Very hospitable restaurant. You notice you are welcome... Even the table reservation is made personally via email. We only wanted to go there for one evening, which then turned into three... I think the ambience is very nice, I love it when the ambience is a bit older. Service was extremely friendly and quick at the same time. After ordering, my 7 year old son was shown where to find the buffet. My special request that the vegetables should be left out and that I would like braised onions was immediately accepted and changed without any problems. Dealing with older people is really sweet. Our meals were top.

On my walk around Lake Danker I had the problem that all public toilets were closed, so I asked this restaurant if I could please use the toilet. I was refused this on the grounds that they had just been cleaned and it would then have to be done again. Very inhumane. The statement: restaurant with heart is probably not true. I wouldn't come here to eat again after this treatment, even if I actually planned to.

Bike tour with 4 people. Get a table without a reservation. Great service, German/Dutch/English, no problem at all. Food was very good, although there was no á la carte because of Easter. Still had a good selection. The food and service were worth a good tip for us. We'd love to come back again.

We spontaneously went to the schnitzel buffet at Plünnhock with our two children and our teenage godchild. Our children's comment after the super nice waitress invited them to inspect the kitchen: "No one cooks as well as Rainer!"

We had been before and it was good, but yesterday evening, March 17, I thought the service was very poor. The tomato soup was not tasty or the pepper pot was so sharp. The schnitzel was fried in a deep fryer. Wow, not nice. we sat with grandchildren in the large room. Because we were the only ones in that place and the small room was full, they did not come to ask if we wanted any drinks. The desserts were placed on a tray on our table and they walked away again, and they were too expensive for German standards.
