Restaurant Piroschka in Zwiesel

We came across the restaurant by chance. The atmosphere is unique, we felt really comfortable. The innkeeper gave us a warm welcome and the food was very tasty; the prices are underground. Would eat there again any time :)

We came to the restaurant at lunchtime, the landlord said that they were actually closed but that we were still welcome to come in. It was as if we were in Aunt Piroschka's room and as if she had prepared a goulash especially for us. You don't feel like you're in a restaurant, more like you're a guest of a nice family. The food was very tasty and very cheap. The atmosphere is very cozy and inviting, as I said, as if you were a guest of a Hungarian family (the decoration is chosen accordingly, there are photos on the wall and typical Hungarian decoration). Highly recommended!

We had a unique but wonderful experience there. We arrived and the owner had just turned away a large group of people because he couldn't serve that many people due to staffing levels. We were lucky because there were two of us. However, we were advised that it could take longer. We had to wait a bit, but the young-at-heart older owner worked with so much passion. The service was great, even though it took a while. He ended up serving over 20 people by himself, it took a while, but the owner was so personable. That's why I give full service here. Ambience was ok. It was more of a business or local. It's a bit lacking in modernity, but I think it should look a bit rustic. The food was good too. To the restaurant's credit, there wasn't a lot of food, but there wasn't a meal that was more expensive than 10 euros. This is a true rarity these days. I had a grill plate that was good. Although fries were a little soggy, meat (pork and turkey) were good - I could have chosen other meat (point for flexibility). The selection of sauces with yogurt and goulash sauce was very good. And the picture was supposed to show the portion size, which was unbeatable for the price. A lovely evening and a great owner. Recommendation from me.

This evening we were guests at the Piroschka restaurant. We booked a table for 5:30 p.m. The restaurant is located on a side street and you can park directly in front of the restaurant. We were warmly welcomed by the owner and then escorted to a free table. When we arrived the dining room was still quite empty. However, this changed every minute. The landlord is not only a service and counter worker but also a cook. He does everything in the restaurant completely by himself (despite his estimated age of well over 70 years). We ordered the following dishes: Fries with ketchup. The portion was very generous for a children's meal and we were given the whole bottle of ketchup in case there wasn't enough. The plate was garnished with a Duplo, which is of course a highlight for the children. Orig. Hungarian Letscho: This dish is a must try. Absolutely tender meat (5 pieces) with plenty of fries and incredibly good sauce. Plus a nice fresh salad. Absolutely great in terms of taste and incredibly cheap at €8. Grill plate “Budapest style”: Here too came a plate with 5 large pieces of meat. These were very tender and fried very well. The sauce had a strong flavor and was very tasty. There were also plenty of fries and a fresh salad. This dish is unbeatably cheap at €9.90. If there is not enough, you can also order a free refill. The ice cream was free for the children after their meal. In the end we paid €32 for three drinks and the three dishes including the ice cream. This price is incredibly cheap and is actually not enough for the quality of the dishes. In summary, we can only recommend this restaurant. The dining room is getting old, but absolutely authentic. You can watch the chef cook because the kitchen is always open and is right at the entrance. The owner runs the store completely on his own and is still extremely polite and never stressed despite the large crowds. The children love him because he always calls them “Sweet Princess” and other pet names. A warm-hearted older gentleman. We will definitely come back every time we are in the area. Absolutely clear recommendation! Keep it up!

It was simply great, the food was very tasty, the host was super nice and simply an original. The prices are unique. I've never experienced anything like that - the most expensive dish was pork loin for 10.90 and a grill plate for 9.50.

Heute am 26 August 2024 haben wir das Piroschka kennengelernt ein unglaublich schönes ,uriges ,skurriles ,gemütliches kleines Restaurant mit einem so freundlichen lieben Chef, der im hohen Alter immer noch alleine kocht. Das Essen schmeckt sehr sehr gut , Man fühlt sich zurückversetzt in die 50er 60er Jahre einfach wunderbar!!! Allen die hier in der Gegend sind kann ich dieses wunderbare Restaurant sehr empfehlen!!

It couldn't be more authentic! A successful mix of GDR nostalgia and Hungarian home cooking. The damp, musty smell when I entered reminded me pleasantly of my grandparents' caravan. The food was great and filling. All meals under 10 euros! The cellar, probably also the owner, was very attentive and the GDR praline at the end rounded off the experience. Thanks for the lovely evening!

The food indeed looked very good, as many reviews indicate, but the hygiene is really dramatic, which is why we walked away (didn't order anything). After 3 minutes, the mold that was present in excess attacked our airways. My girlfriend got very short of breath and I got a rash myself. The poor hygiene caused us to leave before we could order anything. Something really needs to be done about hygiene, it is not safe!

An unusual restaurant. Opening times as needed. Under no circumstances should you rely on the internet. The very friendly host doesn't believe in the internet. Never looked in. The restaurant itself is more like a living room. The menu is manageable and only represents a small portion of the dishes on offer. Always ask. The food was very tasteful, like mother's. The prices are sensationally cheap! If you're not full, you can order a second helping!

I happened to drive past it on my bike. The handwritten menus outside were a little surprising - prices were the same as 20 years ago. We went there and went inside, lovingly furnished like it was - I don't know how many years ago - with latched pillows and artificial flowers. A very quaint and extremely warmly run restaurant that will not meet everyone's needs. Because the boss still does (or has to do) everything himself, it's time to slow down. But everything was done absolutely honestly and with love. The food was very tasty, especially the Letscho, and there was special treatment for the children. In the end, the price was also completely justified and relatively inexpensive for the quality. We hope that he will soon receive support so that he can take even more care of his guests and that it won't be too much for him alone.

Because of the very positive and warm reviews during our short vacation, we decided to eat at Piroschka. Unfortunately, we were very negatively surprised and actually have to speak of disgust. When we arrived at the restaurant at 5 p.m., the owner arrived at the restaurant a minute earlier and greeted us by saying that we were a little early (opening hours from 5 p.m.). He then cleared the dirty tables (from lunch!) and then invited us to a table. We were aware that we were expecting a very outdated atmosphere here, but we had no understanding of eating on a dirty, ancient tablecloth (which, to be honest, looked as if it hadn't been washed in weeks). Unfortunately, the impression continued. Cobwebs everywhere, everything covered in dust, used toothpicks and broken glass on the floor. In addition, we were bothered by flies the entire evening, which was of course very unpleasant. The bill at the end (added up with your fingers and roughly estimated) was €40 for 3 main courses and 4 drinks. We understand an older gentleman who runs the entire "restaurant" himself (as best as possible at his discretion), but unfortunately we really have to say that this shouldn't (and shouldn't!) continue like this because of hygiene and... Cleanliness should not be missing in a restaurant. We can't judge what the kitchen looks like, but the dining room doesn't suggest anything good. 2 of the 3 dishes were at least tasty. After all the positive words for the owner, we're sorry for the bad review, but unfortunately we didn't have a pleasant evening for our money.

It's a small, cozy restaurant. The man of the house is a unique piece from our homeland. He serves and prepares all of his dishes himself. Talks to his guests in a very pleasant manner. The food is indescribably good and tastes like a poem. They are huge portions at low prices. We are grateful to have spent this beautiful evening there and to have met this wonderful person. We will remember it for a long time.

Where do you start and when do you have to stop? We came across the restaurant by chance and it was the best thing that could have happened to us on vacation. After a short-term reservation, we were warmly welcomed at the set table. It was like traveling back in time. The ambience, the smell, just felt extremely nostalgic. The boss, more than likeable. A man who does everything alone, who takes time for his guests and who takes you out of the hectic everyday life with his style. One evening with him is not enough to hear his exciting stories. The food is to die for, freshly prepared, plentiful, simple, down-to-earth, absolutely delicious and more than affordable. If it's not enough, you'll get a second helping. We were there twice and regretted every day of our vacation that we ate somewhere else. We hope that Mr. Brendel can continue to run his restaurant like this for a long time. As soon as we are back in Zwiesel, we will definitely stop by again.

So if you want to go to an original 70s/80s restaurant with the best food, you've come to the right place! The landlord (around 80 years old) does everything by himself and is so good and loving, you want to cuddle him! Great food, almost too much. Prices per dish only around €10!

A sweet, rustic restaurant where the boss is a chef himself and you can see his passion. Super nice and personable, when you come into the restaurant you feel like you're with your grandparents and the food is super delicious. The price is more than fair. We will definitely come back when we are in the area.

I'm actually at a loss for words after visiting this extraordinary restaurant. The owner seems to be a humanitarian and has made it his mission to do good for others. Incredibly friendly, very thoughtful and with sensational cooking skills. With the patience of an angel, he does everything himself and conjures up delicious dishes in huge portions at very, very reasonable prices. My grill plate tasted fantastic. The meat was buttery soft and wonderfully seasoned. We can only recommend anyone traveling in the Zwiesel area to dine here. It's great that places like this still exist!

My greatest respect for the host, sprightly and fit. Good home cooking, delicious and generous portions for these prices. Fabulous. But you should bring a little time with you. But it's worth it.

We were very skeptical after what the other local visitors said. From the outside, well, the facade was still pretty good. But we wouldn't have gone in normally. Inside, time has stood still. Everything is full of plastic flowers. At home my stove is bigger than the kitchen. But that's exactly what matters. A loving 83 year old innkeeper who does everything himself. The food came after 30 minutes. The meat is so tender. Fries crispy. That made everything else fade into the background. It was an experience. THANKS.

A great restaurant as if taken from the old days. The owner is an older gentleman who is not only the owner but also a waiter, cook and great companion. We highly recommend this retro experience to everyone!

What a lovely place! We called last minute on a Saturday night and even though they were busy they squeezed us in. The restaurant is run by a lovely old couple who gave us a very friendly welcome and served us some delicious food. We had a lovely meal there.

Super leckeres Essen. Authentisches uhriges Restaurant, mit persoenlichen Flair. Bissl Geduld mitbringen da Inhaber alles alleine macht. Respekt wie schnell das trotzdem alles ging bei vollem Laden. Äußerst empfehlenswert!

Piroschka - ein Restaurant, nein eine Wirtschaft aus längst vergessener Zeit. Der Wirt - ein sehr sympathischer ehemaliger Sachse - bedient und serviert mit seinen ca. 80 Jahren Gerichte mit Herz. Heutzutage: Soulfood. Und das Ganze in einem urigen Ambiente und zu Preisen die einen selbst nachdenklich stimmen und fragen lassen warum andere das doppelte verlangen. Mein Tip: wer in der Nähe von Zwiesel ist - unbedingt hin gehen ( und gut Trinkgeld da lassen)!!! Denn wenn der Wirt nicht mehr da ist, dann ist dieses Urgestein ausgestorben.

Piroschka steht für frische Qualität zu einer tollen Preis-Leistung. Hier kocht der symaphische Chef noch selbst. Selten so gut gegessen. Die Karte ist noch per Hand geschrieben. Nix Computer. Klare Empfehlung.

Ein kleines Lokal (man sollte definitiv reservieren) alt aber gemütlich eingerichtet. Der Wirt ist sehr charmant und für ein Gespräch gern bereit. Eine kleine Zeitreise.... Wir waren sehr zufrieden. Das Essen war super lecker und der Preis einfach unschlagbar. Wir kommen definitiv wieder.

Leider waren wir sehr enttäuscht von dem ersten Eindruck. Es war sehr dunkel in dem Raum, es wirkte nicht sehr sauber und appetitlich. Wir sind gleich wieder zur Tür und haben das " Restaurant " verlassen.

Große Portionen für wenig Geld, gutes Essen

Der Inhaber, H. Brendl, wird 82 Jahre und arbeitet seit seinem 14. Lebensjahr in der Gastronomie. Ein fleissiger, höflicher, netter Mann; kein Raffsack, wenn man seine Preisliste sieht! Die Speisen macht er frisch (gut gewürzt, sehr schmackhaft und reichlich), schenkt die Getränke selbst ein und bedient auch noch!! Solche Menschen findet man heutzutage nicht mehr!!! Es tut einem in der Seele weh, dass er seine Preisliste nicht anpasst. Man darf also ruhig ein großzügiges Trinkgeld geben; er hat es absolut verdient. Das Ambiente ist zwar unmodern und etwas pflegebedürftig, aber er macht auch selbst sauber und kümmert sich um den Einkauf. DONNERSTAGS hat er deshalb RUHETAG.

Alteingesessenes Restaurant mit urigem Ambiente. Der beste Grillteller den ich je gegessen habe,wirklich unfassbar gut. Für dieses grandioses Essen mit 2 Personen und Getränken nur 22 € bezahlt!!! Ein bischen Geduld mitbringen.Der Inhaber ist allein,d.H. er kocht und serviert alleine. In seinem Alter eine unfassbare Leistung! Würde immer wieder hier einkehren.

Bin durch die vielen guten Bewertungen auf die Gaststube gestoßen und wurde nicht enttäuscht. Der Betreiber/Koch ist überaus nett, freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Essen ist hausgemacht, frisch, absolut lecker und sehr günstig. Das Ambiente ist etwas speziell aber doch irgendwie gemütlich.

Wir sind zum Mittagessen dort eingekehrt. Sehr netter Wirt schnelle und höfliche Bedienung. Es hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Es gibt reichlich zu Essen zu einem sehr guten Preis. Wir können sagen das wir wieder kommen. Wer die Ungarische Küche mag ist hier bestens aufgehoben.

Man darf sich nicht von außen abschrecken lassen, auch innen ist es sehr urig und etwas veraltet. Der nette, etwas ältere Herr dem das Restaurant gehört kocht, bedient und bringt Getränke. Dementspreched darf man kein Sternelokal erwarten, sondern ein authentisches und von Herzen geführtes Restaurant mit sehr gutem Essen und Preisen die man sonst nicht mehr bekommt. Für Vegetarier wird es wahrscheinlich etwas schwieriger, da alle Gerichte mit Fleisch sind. Absolute Empfehlung, da das wirklich einzigartig ist!

Super retro DDR Restaurant. Es gibt einfache Gerichte, günstig, alle mit Fleisch. Auf Wunsch auch für Allergiker abgestimmt.

Das Essen war sehr lecker und der Wirt auch sehr nett das Lokal sieht auch sehr rustikal und schön aus nur an der Sauberkeit hapert es ein bißchen aber es ist trotzdem ein sehr schönes Lokal kann ich nur empfehlen !

Uriges Speiselokal mit einem ganz tollen Gastwirt. Er kocht und bewirtet selbst. Alles frisch gemacht und sehr sehr lecker. Jedes Essen auf dieser Karte ist einfach der Hammer. Unbedingt ausprobieren und für dieses großartige Erlebnis ordentlich Trinkgeld dalassen. Ein Hauptgericht kostet maximal 8 €. Verrückt und trotzdem sehr zu empfehlen.

OHMYGODTHATWASSOGOOD! I had no expectations, but the food was delicious home-made dinner. A small, cozy old place, when you walk in, you don’t have the feeling like you just entered a restaurant, but then you turn right and voilà, you are in 80’s Germany. The owner does not speak English, but we got by with my elementary German. I was recommended a Hungarian goulash, it took like 10 minutes, the owner was preparing it himself and then the miracle happened. The portion was large, nothing fancy about the serving, so I was hesitant at first, but took first bite and forgot to take a picture until my plate was empty. So, at least a proof of how good it was, that I scraped the plate clean 😅

Das Essen war frisch und sehr sehr lecker, die Portionsgröße war hervorragend. Wir waren am Anfang skeptisch, weil nichts los war, aber wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Kann ich jedem nur empfehlen, preislich der Hammer.
