Restaurant & Pension Goldener Löwe in Lübben (Spreewald)

We spent a wonderful week at the guesthouse. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The room was clean and the bed super comfortable. The bathroom is new, and the rest of the room is supposed to be renovated soon, but despite the room's age, it was perfectly fine. There were even mosquito nets on the windows! 🥳 The only downside: there's no elevator on the second floor, but we managed just fine. We often ate in the restaurant in the evenings, and the food was also very tasty. The service was excellent! ☺️👍 We received some great tips for excursions and a Spreewald riddle (optional, of course), which our son thoroughly enjoyed solving. Location: Beautiful region right by the market square and near the canoe rental. We would love to come back again.

We spent a whole week at the "Goldener Löwe" guesthouse with a couple of friends. We received a warm welcome from the junior manager, and that left a very good impression. The rooms are very spacious with a large closet, comfortable beds, a large enough bathroom, and, above all, everything was very clean. Even the windows had shutters (a rare find). We had breakfast every day—even on our day off—and it was plentiful and fresh. We were also asked if we could get anything else. We ate in the restaurant several times. There were Spreewald specialties and a wide selection. The food was always very good, and I highly recommend it. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

We went to the restaurant, and it was fantastic! The two girls had everything under control, totally composed and calm...and all the tables were occupied. The food arrived after a short wait! The roulade was delicious...and the Spreewald platter was even more delicious. Highly recommended in every way!

Please don't go there. If you're looking for friendliness, service, and friendly waitresses, then this is the wrong place for you. Of the eight tables, one is occupied, the rest are empty. And then they tell you that you came at an inconvenient time. You're too busy...with whom, please??? Absolutely poor service. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

We spent three nights here. The room was a bit small, but clean and reasonably priced. Everything we needed was there. It was also beautifully centrally located. The host is a wonderful person and gave us great tips on places to visit. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful.

Very friendly and attentive service. Here you can find home-style cooking, where the food tasted good and was good value for money. Unfortunately, restaurants will probably not be as affordable as they were a few years ago, so you have to limit your visits to restaurants. I try to visit restaurants that offer German cuisine often, as there are unfortunately fewer of these. I hope this restaurant survives.

The portions were much too small, I left hungry and for €22 I could expect to be full... steak and seasoned meat less like a child's plate!

I spontaneously ate there because it is pretty much the only restaurant in Lübben that is open on Mondays. Small, clear map. The food we ordered came quickly and was delicious. Very good and nice service. Children are given a place mat to color and do puzzles without being asked. We can only recommend the restaurant.

We were there for dinner yesterday and would love to go there again and again, it's a great home-style restaurant with a friendliness that you rarely find anymore. We stayed at the Golden Lion for two nights with breakfast. The guesthouse and inn were very clean, the rooms are functionally furnished with a very modern bathroom, and the beds are comfortable. The rooms are on the 2nd floor, there is no elevator, so not suitable for people with disabilities. The inn is the oldest in Lübben, so you can understand the somewhat old-fashioned decor, the food tastes good and the service is really very friendly and warm. A lovingly run family business in the Spreewald tradition in a great location. Thank you very much.

We only went to the Golden Lion for dinner. That's why I can't say anything about the pension. The food was properly prepared and tasty. What should be highlighted, however, is the very friendly service! We still have a few days of vacation in Lübben and will definitely come back there again.

After a boat trip we went to the “Löwen” hungry. I don't know if we saw the hunget, but the portions were large...and tasty and well prepared. We had the Spreewald variations....soooo delicious 😍, the schnitzel with chanterelles and the Fährmann steak. A red cask soda and the meal was perfect. 😊

I recently had dinner there. I decided on the chicken. Unfortunately it was lukewarm and not cooked through. I couldn't eat it and left it lying around. Since I found the service so nice, I couldn't "complain". My companion's schnitzel looked delicious and probably tasted good. Service was great.

We had dinner here with our children and it was really great. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The food came very quickly and was very tasty. The potatoes with quark were served with Straupitz linseed oil, which was great because we had done the mill tour there beforehand and were also able to try the freshly pressed oil there. The ox cheeks, one of the daily specials, were incredibly tender. Vegetable schnitzel with fried egg was also found to be very good. Only the fish plate was a bit "disappointing", large plate, lots of sauce, two pieces of fish, extra potatoes, it seemed a bit empty on the plate, then it was better to put potatoes on the plate and extra sauce, then the breading stays crispier. Nevertheless, we were totally satisfied and full and can only recommend everyone to try something here.

We spent a week's vacation in the hotel and can confidently recommend it. Yes, it's a bit more old-fashioned, but everything is intact, nothing damaged or worn. Everything in the hotel is lovingly decorated in typical Spreewald style without appearing kitschy or overloaded. But above all, everything was very clean. The bathroom was small, but perfectly adequate and very modern. The hotel even had family three-bed rooms. The food in the restaurant was freshly cooked and of good quality, there was no excessive waiting time. The prices are also reasonable for this tourist area. I have nothing to complain about at breakfast. Extra requests were always gladly fulfilled and at no additional cost. The hotel is family run and the staff/innkeepers were very welcoming and attentive. When we arrived we immediately received information and maps as well as recommendations for our stay. The hotel is located directly on the market in Lübben. We felt good.

We stopped there for dinner on our tour. The food was very good and the service was also great. What we didn't like was the atmosphere in the dining room, which was more reminiscent of a canteen. I think there is still room for improvement.

You will find a good restaurant here with typical Spreewald dishes. The house is more than 300 years old, which is not reflected inside. The beer garden is nice with plenty of seating options. The food is very good.

We were there for lunch. My “Spreewald Variations” dish was super tasty. I felt like I was going back to my childhood :-) The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The other guests also greeted us in a friendly manner, which we don't really know anymore. Overall very good in a friendly atmosphere. We recommend!
