Beautiful ambiance, great service. Kids can run around, and this is even advertised. The food is a culinary marvel. Very delicious and highly recommended.

I live 10 minutes away in Eimsbüttel and the minimum order value is 30€.. All right and goodbye.. what a pity

Food was not up to the mark ‼️ more German way instead of Indian way. I think this can be improved. Hospitality wise its a good experience but request them to not make any experiment just ask what you want in the Indian way!

Visiting this Indian restaurant was a stroke of luck. The decor was quaint and Indian, the staff extremely friendly and attentive, and the food absolutely delicious. Our small dog was allowed inside. We had a wonderful evening at Maharani and would gladly return.

The food is delicious and prepared quickly. However, I don't understand why you pay more for phone orders and self-pickup than for Lieferando delivery. It should generally be the other way around.

As part of an Eat the World tour, we also visited the Maharani in the Grindelhochbauten. A very nice restaurant. Friendly service. We'll definitely go again, but with the full menu. Addendum: We've tried the full menu multiple times. Wonderful, authentic Indian cuisine. A cloud of fragrant spices greets you as soon as you enter. The Maharani is simply a delight. We'll definitely be back more often. Thanks to the wonderful hosts 😀

The Maharani and its offshoots in Hamburg are a must for all fans of Indian cuisine! The vegetarian offerings are particularly worth mentioning because the chefs prepare dishes with exceptional ingredients. The ambience is unusual, service was always friendly and customer-oriented. Always worth a visit :)

Food was great – Madras Chicken, Dal Makhni, Roti and Garlic Naan were authentic and delicious. Unfortunately, a waiter kept staring unpleasantly at my partner and only stopped when I looked directly at him. This is exactly why Indian men have a bad reputation when it comes to women's safety - worshiping female deities but making real women feel insecure. Visited Maharani a few days ago while staying at Radisson Blu nearby—this was only Indian spots open late. I ordered Madras Chicken, Dal Makhni, roti, and garlic naan. The food was genuinely tasty and had a nice authentic vibe. The restaurant looked great too. Unfortunately, the experience was ruined by a waiter who kept staring at my partner nonstop, making her feel really uncomfortable. It only stopped when I started staring back, ready to confront him. This is exactly why Indian men have a bad rep when it comes to women’s safety—despite claiming to worship female gods, real women often feel unsafe around them. Food was great, but I wouldn’t recommend unless they train their staff to behave better.

This evening we ordered to the hotel via Lieferando. The food was delicious and all special requests were fulfilled. There was even cutlery! We are very satisfied. 😀 Always my pleasure

I think it's been more than 8 years since I was there, but back then I really liked this restaurant on the ground floor of the Grindelhochhausen.

Favorite Indian cozy delicious best service

The food was really delicious. I haven't eaten Indian food this well in a long time. The service was also very courteous and the atmosphere is somehow totally cozy.

Unfortunately disappointed, both with the service and the food. The food is served nicely prepared, but the taste is rather disappointing, especially if you like spicy food. It is medium spicy at most. The waiter doesn't ask what spiciness you want and unfortunately the spiciness isn't visible on the menu. The large appetizer plate is quite disappointing; greasy, half warm and filled with lots of spring rolls (at an Indian restaurant?). Charging €25 for this is not justified. The service clearly wasn't having a good day. We were a group of 6 and weren't served (not even for a drink order) for a good 15 minutes, even though the restaurant was maybe half full. You had to go to the counter and ask the waiter that we would like to place the order. After that the service got better, but never friendly. It was also disappointing that the bottle of wine was overcharged in the end. Hence the recommendation - check the invoice. Overall impression is rather below average, although the atmosphere is nice and oriental.

Worst food i have ever. They are selling it saying Indian food but the taste is worst that German food.

The food was, as usual, very good, and everything was explained. I'd be happy to go back. The restaurant is quite small, but well-stocked. You can almost always find a table. However, I would recommend making a reservation in advance, especially on weekends. The food and taste always exceed expectations, especially on weekends. The service is also very good, attentive, and very friendly.

Food tasty but quite expensive. The service never once asked if we needed anything else. Nor was anyone asked whether it was tasty. I ordered very spicy and it was 0 spicy. The service had a guest who was constantly on the phone just making a phone call.

The service is very friendly, the food is very tasty. Starters and desserts definitely round off the taste experience. The furnishings are no longer brand new, but they are still cozy and the atmosphere is right. We have been here several times and have been satisfied every time. Parking is possible, but costs €3 per hour.

Very good food, very cozy place, interior is very unique, feels like we are in someones home, warm and welcoming! The indian decorations and statues are the best, makes the place even more special! ! The food is delicious! Ayurveda is written in the menu, but it is not discussed at all or mentioned further. For me, ordinary - but really tasty - Indian dishes. A bit misleading. Therefore one point deducted. But I think the furnishings with sofas and armchairs, Indian furnishings, etc. were successful!

Hello dear readers, I can absolutely recommend this restaurant. Be it the food, the service and the ambience. It has never disappointed us and we have probably eaten there more than 10 times. For this we take a journey of 40-45 minutes each time. It's one of our top 3 restaurants in Hamburg, definitely 🫶🏽

The dishes are not freshly prepared and reservations are forgotten.

Since I like to eat Indian food a lot this time I chose the Maharani. After ordering, it didn't take too long for the starters to arrive. Unfortunately, the portion size is a bit small, with 2 pieces of naan bread (especially when it tastes so good). There is enough quantity of the main courses. We'll be happy to try our hand at the menu next time.

I can only say one thing about Maharani: Excellent! The decor is nice and not kitschy at all. The entire staff is attentive and extremely friendly and helpful. The food was an absolute poem, really excellent. The prices are absolutely reasonable considering the quality offered. In short: we will definitely come back here.

We actually had a nice evening, the food was also good, but in the end we had to pay €33 for a bottle of Rotkäppchen sparkling wine (we had 3 bottles because of a big birthday) so a total of €99 and we felt a bit ripped off. A profit margin of €30 is simply too much per bottle.

An absolute recommendation, an absolute MIRACLE in the heart of Grindel. The vegan one is so incredibly tasty and well prepared. The service is extremely friendly and I didn't want to leave because of the full enjoyment. Please definitely dine here, especially the vegan dishes are absolutely on point!

The restaurant is located in an inconspicuous high-rise complex. It is lovingly furnished and is also accessible to people with walking difficulties. The toilets are at ground level, but it can be difficult with a wheelchair without assistance. In addition to chairs, there is also the option to sit in comfortable armchairs.

An insider tip in the Grindelviertel Many people would pass by this restaurant if they hadn't seen any reviews beforehand. The cooking method, the spices and the interaction are unique. At lunchtime, guests should ideally be there from 12:00 p.m. so that they can choose a seat in a relaxed manner. Maharani is more than coming to eat. It's like a short vacation.

We had excellent food and, in addition to excellent service, there is also a great atmosphere here. It's a little too warm, but when the place is full and delicious food is kept warm everywhere, that's not surprising.

I used to love being here so much. Unfortunately the quality of the food has deteriorated. This is the second time I've had food that went bad. I like to order dishes from the “original Indian vegetables” section. These dishes are probably not ordered that often and the vegetables are therefore not freshly cooked. My lotus roots were already dark in color and tasted rotten, bitter and sour. Very, very bad. The chef must notice something like that. I gave the food back and there was no apology, nothing. You may have better luck if you order the usual dishes. I am very disappointed and will not be coming back.

Vegan starter came with paneer, Despite the fact that we had pointed out “vegan” three times (when reserving a table, handing over the menu, ordering explicitly) The 5 ordered different non-vegan main courses all identically. Tomato decoration tasted very layered. Fruit in the food tasted fermented. Not again.

I didn't miss anything. That's why you get all the points. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala here for the first time and was worried when I was served a hissing and steaming pan of raw poultry meat. I like it welldonne! So first I enjoyed the starter bread with mint sauce and lo and behold: the dish was cooked and tasty.

Everything fresh, everything delicious!

The restaurant is very nicely and comfortably furnished. The staff were also very friendly and the food was delivered quickly. A big advantage is the lunch menu. Here you can get a delicious dish from just €9.50.

We were passing through and had a craving for Indian food. So turned on Google Maps, started the search and found the Maharani. The restaurant is located in the basement of a high-rise building, which initially put us off a bit, but based on the many positive reviews we were tempted and went there. Positive: we were warmly welcomed and when we ordered the food we were asked if we wanted the “spiciness”. The food looked very nice visually, with carved carrots and tomatoes. Negative: really run down furnishings, dust everywhere, cobwebs and the menus were torn and smeared. The first drink order went wrong, a non-carbonated cola came, so I returned it. When the food came, we were disappointed in the taste. You know the tender chicken meat that you get at every Indian restaurant and that melts in your mouth, but that wasn't the case here. Furthermore, I found the toilets to be anything but clean, especially since there was a cuddly toy hanging on the ceiling, which was supposed to cover a hole (see photos). I would prefer not to say a word about the audience we met there. Someone who is heavily drunk and comes into a restaurant at 1 p.m. and orders a bottle of wine without a glass and drinks it at the bar... I don't know if you should really bring such an audience into your house? Conclusion: my trust in reviews has decreased and we prefer to trust our gut feeling if we don't like a restaurant from the outside.

Kurz um: Sehr leckeres Essen, guter Service, saubere Toiletten. Das Inventar ist teils etwas abgenutzt, typisch indisch und liebevoll dekoriert. eine gute Empfehlung 👍😃 Genauer: Eine vielzahl an Essenauswahl, auch Vegetarisch. Schärfevarianten sind wählbar. Service ist freundlich und schnell. Ab und an ist ein Tisch etwas versteckter, hier braucht man etwas geduld bei der Bestellungsaufnahme. Das Essen kam rasch. Wir sind gute Esser, hatten eine Vorspeise zusammen, jeweils einen Hauptgang und einen Nachtisch und waren pappsatt. Parkplatzmöglichkeiten sind nicht viele vorhanden, ÖV Erreichbarkeit gut, Reservation wird von uns empfohlen.

Das Maharani ist einer der Ableger vom bekannten Maharaja auf St. Pauli. Das Essen ist sehr authentisch nordindisch, es gibt aber viele besondere Gerichte, z.B. mit speziellen indischen Gemüsesorten, die man im durchschnittlichen indischen Restaurant selten bekommt. Es gibt eine große Auswahl an Curries, sowohl Fleischesser, als auch Vegetarier und Veganer kommen hier auf ihre Kosten. Auch die Vorspeisen und Brotspezialitäten sind sehr gut. Man kann zwischen fünf Schärfestufen von mild bis indisch scharf auswählen, sodass man genau passend bestellen kann. Neben der Schärfe sind die Gerichte aber auch sehr authentisch gewürzt. Die Getränkeauswahl ist ebenfalls gut, der Service ist freundlich und schnell. Die Atmosphäre ist gemütlich und stilvoll. Preislich bewegt sich das Maharani nicht im günstigen Bereich, allerdings stimmen die Qualität und Menge der Speise. Daher ist das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis meiner Meinung nach gut. Ich kann das Maharani sehr empfehlen, wenn man gerne indisch essen geht.

The food is exceptional. They take great care of you and the taste is authentic. The staff is really helpful. We had a great time. Most dishes come with sides and the quantity is more than plateful. We casually mentioned one of us had a birthday and they made a nice treat with sparklers as a surprise. It was amazing. Top notch hospitality. Mr Anil took great care of us.

Anscheinend hat der Besitzer gewechselt. Wir waren früher mal dort und es war super. Der jetzige Besuch war leider eine große Enttäuschung. Dreckiger Boden, Gestank aus der Toilette, dreckige Speisekarten und das Essen hat nicht überzeugt.

Einfach alles was ich bis jetzt dort geschmaust habe, war super lecker. Sehr gute Auswahl an vegan vegetarischem.
